Love it or hate it, these two designs represent the final choice of logo to go on the front of Steorn's revolutionary free energy device.

The ORBO PowerCube is a USB charging station with a difference. It's powered by no conceivable or identifiable power source. I guess you could say its powered by the universe. The idea is simple, you attach your electronic device by means of a USB cable, tap the PowerCube to start it and say goodbye to ever needing batteries or the power company ever again!

Some people love the design and some people hate it, but as I mentioned to Steorn CEO Shaun McCarthy tonight, it really doesn't matter too much what the device looks like. It represents a milestone in the evolutionary path of our species. In its present form it is confronting and represents a physics shattering moment of reevaluation to our scientific understanding.

The ORBO PowerCube measures approx 9cm across and has one USB cable port for connecting the device of your choice.

There is still no indication from Steorn on their pricing strategy but once word gets out to the still sleeping mainstream press and the general public realises this is most certainly the real deal, then they will be inundated with orders to be one of the first to own a technological miracle.

And this my friends.....is just the beginning.

ORBO Field Trial Reported in The Irish Times

Today the Irish Times has reported on the recent field trial of Steorn's ORBO USB 'PowerCube' at Slattery's Pub, Dublin.

Last week the alleged never-die battery known as the Orbo PowerCube briefly appeared behind the bar in Slattery’s pub on Grand Canal Street, where patrons were treated to what is believed to be one in a series of low key field-tests.

“Soon after I got there a bit of ceremonial music came on and they brought out this silver box. The manager [of Slattery’s] got up on a step ladder and plonked it down on a shelf. It was a four by four-inch box with the Orbo logo on it,” said patron Aidan Sullivan who was present for the field-test.

“The manager produced a mobile phone and connected it to the box, which appeared to be charging it,” he added.

On the pub’s Facebook page, Slattery’s representative describes the Orbo as “a battery and then a perpetual motion motor that continually recharges the battery,” adding that “the motor never dies and does not need external power source.”

In theory, this technology is powered by interacting magnetic fields which feed a battery which then has the ability to charge electronic devices indefinitely without ever needing to be charged itself – a feat that would defy the laws of thermodynamics.

However, Slattery’s appear to be taking it with a pinch of salt, writing on Facebook: “I heard if you plug an Orbo into another Orbo it can mend holes in the o zone [sic] layer.”

Those looking to get their hands on one of these devices will have to exercise perpetual patience. Steorn chief executive Shaun McCarthy told The Irish Times: “We are not offering any Orbo products for sale, we are just doing some basic field trials.”

In addition, Mr McCarthy said the company is not publicising the locations of the field trial units

Update: ORBO PowerCube Has Left Slatterys

Steorn's ORBO PowerCube has left Slatterys, presumably reclaimed by Steorn after its brief encounter with the patrons and staff of Slat's'. Slatterys seemed a little disappointed that the device had been reclaimed so soon - here's waht they said on their Facebook Page.

'The device is no longer here. A little too much attention for a quiet field test. I may have gone over the top posting about it so my bad. I'm hoping that we can get her back under more strict media conditions but Slattery's Pub not exactly a quiet pub hence the perfect place to display it.' -Slatterys

The PowerCube was left at Slatterys Pub in Dublin over the weekend and while it was there, it got a lot of attention. In it's brief spell sitting behind the bar it successfully charged numerous customers and staff smartphones, including HTC's, Samsung and iPhones and had people perplexed and amazed.

Sadly,it has now gone, but we have had a tantalising taste of what is to come from Steorn in 2015 and beyond. To the already convinced it's a revolution-in-a-cube, but many questions remain for the sceptical out there as one would expect.

There is no word yet on the price and availability of this 'must have' gadget, but we hope to get more information soon to share.

ORBO Update From Slatterys - Still Charging Phones!

Steorn CEO Shaun McCarthy's local is Slattery's Pub in Grand Canal St, Dublin. Slattery's has been the venue for the very first impromptu field-testing of the device - A Free Energy USB charger. The Orbo 'PowerCube' has been sitting on a shelf behind the bar for the last few days and staff have been offering to charge customers smartphones for them when they come into the pub.

11th May 2015 - Here's the latest update from Slattery's on how it's all going.

#‎ORBO‬ "We plugged in our 15% Samsung note 4 this morning at 12.40. You can see it charging. I was not in this morning but Michael carried out the task. Steph who came in after needed the phone so used it for various reasons. By 2.40pm the battery was at 30%. So it had been charged this morning.

We are downloading data from the diagnostics on the back so I'm sure I'll be able to share what we learn from it. I'll be in at 5pm to run another charge and will report."

Please bear in mind that this is not a proper demo, or a technical evaluation, just a field test in the pub. You can just see the battery indicator spring into life, changing from a solid block to the lighting symbol as the guy in the video zooms in on the screen. The video is from a mobile phone and it is not expected to be professional quality.

No-one is pretending that this is in any way a credible test or scientific However, it is the very first time a commercial overunity device made for the home market has ever been shown in action.

Steorn - 'A Pub Lunch'...err...Launch

Steorn have always been mischievous, ever since I first encountered them in 2006.

They do very unconventional things that a lot of the time people find perplexing. They have frequently poked fun at themselves - one time choosing to launch a new technology on April 1st. And if anyone knows how the claims appear to the general public, then it is surely Steorn themselves. They know only too well how they are perceived, they know that what they are claiming is not just thought of as being difficult, but damned impossible! And who says so? Almost everyone in the universe apparently.

Yesterday was no exception in terms of their unconventional approach - choosing to conduct a world-first demonstration of what hails to be a paradigm-shifting technology in a Dublin pub (as you do). But it is this seemingly utter disregard for the enforced 'rules' of convention that makes them so enigmatic and exciting.

So no surprises today when I discovered their website is not down, but rather removed, leaving a single white page with a few lines of html.

Sceptics will no doubt jump on this and proclaim they have up and left the their offices, and indeed the country, leaving nothing but a swinging lightbulb and flaking paint. I suspect the real reason has more to do with re-branding and a marketing strategy that is almost anti-marketing in it's approach.

Only a couple of months ago Steorn engaged with a social media company to produce 'marketing material', such as a logo for their new Orbo 'PowerCube' and one cannot help thinking that that's not all they engaged them for.

If people are looking for Steorn to obey the rules of convention then they are in for a shock. No matter what you think of them they are always refreshing in their approach.

Steorn Orbo 'Power Cube' Demo - From Friday at Slattery's Pub, Dublin

So you invent a perpetual motion machine of the first kind. Where do you choose to demo it first? The National Physics Laboratory, The CERN facility? The Smithsonian?

Nope. Slattery's Pub, Dublin of course. No joke.

So if you are new to all this, here's a brief recap...

Perpetual Commotion

Dublin based technology company Steorn are no strangers to controversy. In 2006 they announced to the world that they had discovered a way of utilizing the magnetic fields of certain magnets (Neodymium magnets) to provide a GAIN of energy. The name of this technology - ORBO.

Naturally, the scientific world scoffed at the very idea of perpetual motion as has been the case for several centuries. The problem being that the Law of the Conservation of Energy states that energy cannot be created, but that it can only change form - one of the fundamental principles of physics that this device defies.

Later in 2007 a prototype was to demonstrated at Kinetica art gallery in London. The demo failed before it started due to technical problems. The company later successfully demonstrated another prototype pulse-motor variant at The Waterways museum in Dublin, but generally speaking they have been working behind closed doors since 2009.

With not much visible on the surface, all bets were off until Steorn CEO Shaun McCarthy gradually began drip-feeding the odd nugget of information here and there for the last year through his personal Facebook page (documented in previous blogposts here).

ORBO - 'Power Cube'

In only the last few days we've seen the first photos of what looks like the Steorn 'Power Cube'. As yet no official specifications have been released, nor does anything appear on the firm's official website, but the device is rumoured to have a number of USB ports from which you can plug in your household electronic devices such as mobile phones and have them magically charged - all without any need for the power company's involvement. It's difficult to get a gauge for the size, but perhaps 20-30 cm sqaure would be an approximation?

Yesterday a post appeared on the Facebook page of Slattery's pub (screen-capture above). Among other things, it said - "Come down to Slattery's Pub this week and witness this Black Beauty charge ppl phones or laptops without ever needing a recharge or external power source. Orbo's Power Cube is real magic. It twists the above laws inside out."

New Look ORBO Logo Unveiled

Posted today on Steorn CEO (Shaun McCarthy) Facebook page - a new design of the ORBO logo. Orbo is the brand name for Steorn's free energy technology.

The logo features 3 coloured arrows in a classic sine-wave configuration. The arrow on the left pointing down and to the left while there are TWO arrows pointing UP and to the right.

The interpretation so far on social media is that the significance of the TWO arrows is perhaps a nod to the more power out than in (TWO units OUTPUT for only one INPUT).

"Orbo technology is based on electromagnetic interactions concerning domain rotation within ferromagnetic materials, specifically the phenomenon of delayed magnetic field propagation.
Delayed magnetic field propagation is a limited area of exploration within the physics community, while there are a number of papers that detail the test method and examination, no papers to date have gone as far as the research conducted by Steorn".

The development of this technology is continuous as work progresses to the end goal of providing a safe, stable and continuous electrical power output.

Steorn CEO Shaun McCarthy recently posted a batch of photographs on his Facebook page. Most of which were just random pics of equipment. However, of particular interest are three photos included in the batch of which appear to be of product testing

One of Steorn's spin-off technologies from Orbo is HephaHeat. In a nutshell, HephaHeat technology can heat water and steam for domestic and industrial use at a fraction of the electricity usage of traditional water boilers. Steorn have already signed very large deals with two of the most recognisable names in the water heater industry.

Steorn have not disappeared as many people thought, but have been quietly and diligently working on their technology since they went into a self-imposed media curfew a few years ago.

Perhaps that is about to change.

Steorn Bring In Social Media Consultants For Video / Photoshoot

Irish Tech firm Steorn have hired a prominent Irish social media consultancy firm, presumably to re-enage the public at some point in the near future.

Steorn CEO Shaun McCarthy posted this picture on his Facebook this morning with the text - "What on earth is happening in the office this morning????

Headed up by MaryRose Lyons, Brightspark Consultancy is a prominent social media consultancy based in Dublin, Ireland. Their Slideshare bio includes Social Media Content, Social Media Strategy, Web Copy, and most interestingly of all Enviormental and Social Justice Journalism.

A quick check reveals that they, like Steorn, are also located on East Wall Road, Dublin and are in fact located in the same Docklands Innovation Park together.

For anyone familiar with the company, the offices shown in the picture are instantly recognisable as Steorn, however, I'm wondering why the Brightspark Consulting logo is up on the wall of the Steorn office - that seems odd. Unless this is a semi-permanent or long-term engagement with these guys.

So are Steorn about to re-enter the public eye? Well, you don't hire a social media firm unless you are about to do just that. The only questions are what are they about to hit the market with and the timing of it all.

Steorn Sign Major Deal With Multinationals

Steorn has signed a major collaboration deal with two large multinational manufacturers.

An article has apparently appeared in the Business Section of the Sunday Times Ireland published detailing the companies recent success. Sean McCarthy, Steorn's chief executive claims they have signed a collaboration agreement with two large multinational manufacturers.

"Mr McCarthy claims that royalty fees could bring in €50m a year by 2017."

Again, this is unconfirmed at this stage, but Steorn's Hephaheat technology is thought to be the subject of the deal.

According to Steorn's website, Hephaheat technology is described as follows..

HephaHeat low frequency induction heating is a patent pending method of using induction systems without the need for additional expensive power supplies.

Our systems are uniquely designed to plug directly into mains supplied AC and by utilising the 50 / 60Hz line frequency we replace the large and expensive power supplies normally required for induction heaters.

This provides simplicity, reliability and low cost with our systems - yet brings the same advantages of existing induction heating technology principles.

Editor's note: If this deal is confirmed then it would pave the way for Steorn to substantially invest and speed up the work on it's other IP development projects including Orbo.

Cold Fusion Stigma Still Exists

After all this time it's a bit infantile to see that there is still a stigma around the use of the term cold fusion. Did the Pons and Fleischmann excperience really scar everyone so badly?

"Serious" researchers now opt for the term LENR (Low Energy Nuclear Reactions), or CALENR (Chemically Assisted Low Energy Nuclear Reactions) and variations thereof.

Top prize though in the "Avoid using cold fusion terminology awards." simply must to go to National Instruments who've went one better than everyone with the ever so cautious and conservative label - "Anomalous Heat Generation" seen in their latest slide show presentation.

Brilliant.

The Bigger Picture Beyond Free Energy

Defkalion Ramping Up Their Activity

I admire the way Defkalion have been working. Quietly doing their thing with determination and professionalism while keeping a low profile. As much as I would sincerely love to be a fly on the wall at Defkalion, I am content in the knowledge that they are quietly getting on with things and staying away from the pseudosceptic media circus that is Forbes and co.

A few days back our friends in Greece advertised a total of 21 positions no less!. So are we now seeing the humble beginnings of a cold fusion jobs market, in the same way the industrial revolution may have grown from a tiny seed? It's hard to imagine why they would actively recruit 21 new engineers unless they were about to start ramping up their operation.

Take a look at the positions they are recruiting. Among them are a product manager and 2 product development staff. That means exactly what it says - PRODUCTS. Products require a market and customers and it's hardly likely they'd waste money on hiring these positions too many months out from product launch. The recruitment process is lilkely to take at least 3 months which takes us up to July. We could potentially see their Hyperion LENR unit on the market around this time or soon after.

I am still of the opinion that Rossi has the genuine thing in the eCat also, but Rossi seems to be dealing with the military and Defkalion seem to be aiming at the civilian consumer market. Defkalion claimed some time ago that their Hyperion LENR device was very stable in it's performance and output, perhaps their product has the stability for entry into the commercial arena that th eCat does not? Other than that, Defkalion appear to have significant funding behind them.

I expect we will hear positive things from them in the not too distant future. After all, it's 2012 and we need a Mr Fusion to go with the new Delorean. Anything seems to be possible these days. Next thing you know Michael Jackson will be touring as a hologram with the Jackson 5.

The Race Is On: LENR Now Allowed To Prosper

They say that competition is a healthy thing. In the field of alternative and exotic energy it's always been somewhat disappointing and more about whether there was anything to the claim itself, let alone having the luxury of such a thing as competition.

Sometimes a company will spring from nowhere, make a radical claim about a new technology and simply not be heard from again. Not anymore. Not where LENR is concerned.

Even the most hardened sceptic who has been witnessing the events in the world of LENR (Low Energy Nuclear Reactions) recently could not have failed to notice that things are getting serious. It is no longer reasonable to question whether or not excess heat is produced - if you have half a braincell, then you already know it simply is.The debate now centers on how much excess energy, and how quickly can it be commercialized.

We now find ourselves in the fortunate position of not just one potentially commercially viable solution, but several. Andrea Rossi's Leonardo Corporation, Defkalion Green Technologies Nichenergy, LENUCO, Celani's Cold Fusion Energy Inc and now, the recently emerged Brillouin Energy are all charging forward.

There are many differences in the methods these companies are using to extract heat but all of them seem to have at least cracked one small part of the code that is LENR.

But why now? Why was there a 2 decade long cold fusion drought and then suddenly, almost overnight, we have 6 major players competeing for the prize? Why also have more and more reputable big name players been allowing themselves to be associated with "fringe" science? Does this not seem odd?

Could it be that we have now reached a natural conclusion to our energy problems? Could it be that the controllers have decided it's time to "let" LENR come of age? And if you're sitting there thinking that the multi-trillion dollar energy industry is free from control and that "things just happen" for no reason then you need to think again.

Tantalizing eMail Sent To Defkalion Contacts

"Defkalion has conducted third party tests on its core technology by internationally recognized and reputable private and public organizations from Europe and America. Today, there is solid, unambiguous evidence confirming our technology. We are at the dawn of a new era of clean, inexpensive, limitless renewable energy."

This message was part of an email sent by Defkalion's Director of Business and Marketing, Symeon Tsalikoglou to people on a Defkalion contacts mailing list.

While this message is extremely positive and confident, some caution is urged until independent reports and evaluations are made available publicly and until there are enough "internationally recognized and reputable private and public organizations" willing to come forward and be identified as supporting this conclusion.

On an optimistic note, this is a very welcome development, and if confirmed, does indeed signify a new beginning in cheap energy generation along with the resulting sweeping geopolitical change that would inevitably take place.

Waiting for Godot

We took a decision over a month ago now to cease reporting of the eCat for several reasons.

First of all, 16 months have elapsed since we helped break the story to the world and yet there are still no independent third party test results of the eCat. This is a very disappointing situation in view of the intitial timescales to commercial launch that were originally given.

There can be no doubt that many very qulaified individuals have been present and witnessed eCat tests - however, despite the optimism felt for the commercial realisation of such a revolutionary technology, the fact remains that in the absense of independent third party verification the eCat's claimed power output remains heresay at this point. There can be no doubt that Nickel Hydrogen reactions do produce anomalous heat, but the question remains over the power figures claimed.

So what do we mean by third party tests? Essentially - this refers to testing in a laboratory environment by a reputable third party testing company such as Underwriters Laboratories or similar. The tests would be made when no current member of the eCat team was present in the room and would include several test runs with controls in place. These tests would be conducted over several weeks ideally to reach a conclusive result.

It is not fair on the readers of Free Energy Truth that we report daily unsubstantiated rumours of "he said" "she said" hearsay.

Should independent collaborations or verifiable developments / testing occur then we will resume coverage. Our eCatNow site contains feeds of all the relevant "he said" she said" developments on the eCat which you are still welcome to follow.

Defkalion have went silent, so there is nothing to report that can be substantiated or verified. However, the fact they have went silent is a good sign of their professionalism and their resisting the sensationalist rumour mill.

It's hard to imagine a scenario where both Defkalion and the eCat are both nothing but hot air and harder still to see how anyone hopes to make serious money unless they have a legitimate product to sell.

As it turns out our decision to cease reporting was a good one. News on both of these potential game-changers has been deathly quiet for nearly 2 months.

While behind-the-scenes developments are reported to be happening in both camps, only time will tell when and if one or both reach a commercially viable status.

"Tests with the presence of high level Government officials have been concluded. Opinions and results were very positive.

Announcements will be made upon mutual agreements, at a time yet to be defined.

Tests continue with international Authorities in the coming weeks.

Hyperion Independent Testing: Defkalion Swamped With Applications

eCat competitor Defkalion recently asked for interested organisations and individuals to step forward and independently test their LENR reactor (Hyperion). The response was very positive it would seem.

An update on their forum says:

"So far we have received applications and we are in the process of preparing independent test with 7 well-known research centers and organizations from Greece and abroad.

We have received hundreds of applications from independent individual researchers from around the world. Obviously they can not meet all these requests memonomenon researchers within the space of the next two months.

The process of determining the available testing dates of research centers and protocols of each test-instrumentation research centers / organizations, require much correspondence and understandings (possibly more time consuming than we thought, due to their internal bureaucracy)."

Defkalion: We Invite Independent Testing

Defkalion lays down the gauntlet with an invitation for indepenedent testing of it's Hyperion LENR reactors.

They predict that a COP of 20 or more will be determined by the independent testers.

In a lengthy statement outlining the testing methods Defkalion stated "PDGT welcomes further requests from internationally recognized and reputable scientific and business organizations interested to conduct their independent tests on “bare” Hyperion Reactors."

New Announcement Of Testing

According to Defkalion, this particular invitation to test is entirely separate from the independent testing ALREADY scheduled to occur in the early part of 2012. "As it was announced in our November 30th Press Release, a series of third party tests on Hyperion products have been scheduled to be performed within the first months of 2012, immediately after our product’s certification. This announcement does not refer to such product tests."
