There are a good number, huge manufacturers indeed with little or very limited foreign rep or better said with limited distribution looking for foreign markets, and are not finding any/more. Don’t DULL. You can come in; exporting or importing their goods is a place to begin your international Business, with little or no penny I can say that many times...

You can take advantage of those manufacturers, since you have many qualities for convincing the manufacturers to engage you as the sole export or import agent. All you’ll need is to build, develop your foreign contacts, and know the demand for specific products. You’ll be their import or export agent to handle the sale, paperwork, the money, all shipment, customs, and foreign distribution.

The manufacturer in return will provide quotations, and you put your fees on top of that.

The manufacturers have everything to gain - an increase in sales, gains more broader market, and more profit. And you have everything to gain - establishing your business, and a commission on the cost of the goods. That is the basis of a firm business connection and a mutually profitable arrangement.

Contact local manufacturers first and then move into larger territories. You can make these contacts by phone, in person, or by personal introduction from contacts you may already have. Or, you can advertise in business publications and newspapers.

Before you do get into a legal agreement, be sure to check the reputation of the company. How long has it been in business? Where are the products distributed domestically? What is the solvency and reliability of the company and its goods? When you make your sale, you'll want to be able to deliver.

Yes as said in previous posts, you can start import/export business with little or no penny. Today, we shall be talking about the “Basics in the import / export Business”.

With little cash, a phone set to answer calls from home, or on your bed, even while in front of your dressing mirror, you can work on your import / export business. You’ll need a file system and Business cards too. While you grow, you can expand to include dispatch staff and or executive assistance, get your cable address or a telex hook-up.

You’ll also design a beautiful, eye catching professional letterhead. Classy one I mean. Your letterhead is your representative as starter, pending when you establish contacts. These days, business executive like to receive professional looking letters; embossed or two color or gold leafed. Make it printed on light-weight paper for airmail correspondence, but don’t have airmail envelopes printed. You will also need to build up your domestic correspondence.

Now! You will need to be very determined, don’t get frustrated for any reasons. That’s the only way to make it work. It may be slow at first, and you’ll need to rearrange, re-plan your moves from time to time. You need to brain storm on how to make it work always. Make contacts and SELL YOURSELF with quality. In a little time, you’ll start to make few sales and sign several exclusive deals worth money; you'll know your dedication was worthwhile.

Some lucky you may stumble on hundreds of thousand of dollars in few weeks. This is common among self motivated entrepreneurs. Make sure you make it work. It’s you that can do it, no matter my contributions/advice.

In order to understand how import and export business works, let first define, the words, Import and export!

What is import? The word import could be phrased in business transaction as importation, imported, and or import. Whatever, import or imported goods are commodities and or goods that are manufactured outside your country of residence, and brought in for sales, usually referred to as imported goods/commodities. The demand for this type of commodity/product/goods is usually from countries where the commodity is either not available, not enough or those available are of lower quality. Consumers are always in need of new trend, new invention, and of cause higher quality goods from foreign manufacturers. You can come in. we will teach you how.

What is export? These are goods/or commodities that are manufactured in your country of residence. To say it simpler, the goods that do find foreign markets are exports.

To further explain for your understanding of this topic “how import and export business works” is to inform you that, even in the so called industrialized region, including Asia and North America few manufacturers distribute goods outside. I mean Asia and U.S manufacturers are yet to meet exportation needs. Most Government of this World encourages exports. Indeed, it is those sales that keep our balance of payments with the vast amounts of goods that are imported. And you'll find government agencies helpful in establishing your business.

In part one of this blog post, “who to inform of your arrival in your home country” I stated few problems that are common to travelers planning to settle down at home. Since that day, I have been receiving mails from members and non-members of Travelers Club, querying my refusal to list the categories of who to inform and who not to inform of your arrival. I am sure you mean to know those who should know about your arrival and who shouldn’t know; Let me start with a quote from late Pa Abraham Adesanya when he said “when two men go into the room to discuss on an issue of controversy, and later come out laughing, its no doubt that they’ve both lied to themselves. But if they come out franking, they must have said the truth to themselves”. The people I will recommend to you are those that might not necessarily come to your mind as you plan your home coming. But never mind, you’ll be glad you meet them, as you’ll also enjoy their expertise. And as to who shouldn’t know of your home coming, this is within your discretion. BUT I will want you to make use of the word of V., author the book, A guide to corporate Machiavelli, when he said “do business with strangers as if they were brothers and with Brothers as if they were strangers”. What this means is that you will need to open-up to those strangers I will recommend, and be careful with family and friends. Now to the business;

Who to inform of your arrival:

There are professionals, they are available on-site and online. You can research them from anywhere in the world. I am recommending those; Relationship consultants, Financial management consultants, building and civil engineering consultants, relocation experts, estate managers, family re-union experts, marriage councilors, business development consultants, pre-shipment consultants, religion leaders (clergy men), home decorators, family health consultants, and carrier advisers, etc… those are the categories of people you need to inform of your arrival / your home coming. They are far cheaper fee takers compare to those family and friends. Don’t doubt it. All you need is to open-up to them. After all they are available to anybody to provide service in exchange for money. Plan your home coming for good! Among categories of travelers, only those on holiday and business trip abroad understand how best to maneuver on this subject. My dad in his wise say would say “you can’t meet a friend you left six month ago with the same attitude-expect changes in his attitude towards life”. This is not to change your friendly disposition towards your family and friends, but rather to justify my point based on findings and personal experience. I don’t want to be quoted wrong, but our world has two sides. Since we live in the world of possibilities, where human beings are unpredictable, you really need to be very careful when thinking of whom to inform of your arrival. So don’t be carried away by people’s gestures on phone, for “in every thing a Man does, his interest comes first”. Be that as it may, make sure you have your home coming primary plan, with bold mission statement and let other people’s assistance and gestures stay secondary or as Bonus. Below are common to travelers who have refused to have a home coming guide or home coming plan;

1. Mislead: you can easily be misled by selfish individuals within the Family, and among your old friends. Few years back, a member of travelers club int’ has arrived his home country, and was received by his niece’s husband. This member had many ideas imported into his country, and was very happy to have such educated in-law around who could put him through as regards latest applicable government regulations. But because of selfish motives of this in-law, the guy could not achieve his dreams. When he told this in-law of his intension to have his Business name registered, he was misled. He was made to believe that the process was too difficult, and the guy may not be able to provide necessary papers needed.

2. Greed: You are very likely to fall into the hands of greedy people, who are much more interested in your properties and value, than your settling down. These are the people waiting for your misfortune, so they can start buying your properties, taking advantages of your inability to understand latest trends in your home country.

These are just two of hundreds of experiences you might come across back home. Smartness cannot override experience. You must understand the system in order to operate within the system. Simple! By any calculation, traveling is money spinner, stressful, but also exciting. We hardly thought of the stress or the excitement at the beginning of the process, instead we focus more on how best we can maximize our hard earned income to get cheaper fare. No wonder some pay $500, others $700, and many pay more for the same class in a flight.

In my days at Nigerian Medical Association, talking far back to early 90s I had the opportunity to handle travel processes for some executives that were attending international conferences and seminars abroad. What I learned became experience that I today put into practice. I have also understood applicable terms of some travel agencies and airline operators to cutting cost and how they offer rebate to customers, who book their flights ahead while working as a consultant with Mgtfirm Nigeria, a management outfit that offer protocol duties to Business executives.

Having realized the existence of such incentive by airline operators, I started booking my flight ahead of my travel time. The habit I stated far back Jan 2000, when Afriqiyah airline cut 25% down the normal fare for my air ticket from Tripoli to Niamey is worth emulating if you want to get discount from airlines. I must tell you, have been enjoying similar incentives from other carriers, especially from those who call me regular.

Of cause this customer’s incentive it’s not limited to a particular person or group of persons, neither narrowed to a particular location. It’s a gesture that’s available anywhere the in world. The misconception that status count is not true either, rather, it’s about schedule management. If you can schedule your movement and plan your trip ahead of time, you too can get similar discount and or rebate from your carrier. The amounts of discount offered vary among airlines, but all airlines use time in their calculations. This simply means that XYZ airline may offer 15% discount for travelers who book their flights 30days ahead, and Geokaz airline may offer 20%. An established fact is that majority of airlines offer pocket friendly discount to travelers who book 90days ahead. You could save 50% or more if you can book your flight months ahead of your travel time.

In my maiden post, i made mention of one important point, which is going to be the focus of today's discussion with you. Did you remember this statement "In fact i have realized that home coming planning is as important as drafting a Business plan before kick-starting a business".If not, i advice that you click on that statement to read.
I will be sincere to tell you that failure is 69% by your side if all you think is to pick up your baggage and held to the airport without having a mission statement. Studies and interviews have helped me to see clearly the true picture of people who fail to succeed in their home countries after spending years abroad, working day / night, in dry summer or winter. I'm sure you must have had similar story of this kind in recent time. Now let go straight to what you need today!
Rule no 1. each time you think home country, think mission statement! i can explain. and i will explain.
As the word implies "Mission"
Its simply a word that drive. I can bet my life, if you have this word in mind each time you think of home coming, you 'll be surviving your early days at home, and once you're able to survive your early days, you can always move to the next level.Your early days are the most joyful, most beautiful, yet most dangerous! you can not escape this step. but if you already have your mission StatementS, you will escape for good, and for life. Experience is truly the best teacher! i have lived many years staying across the border. I have had series of experience during the course of my stay outside my home country, and that has coursed me to learn much about life. I have learned the importance of focus, the effect of bad gang, the horrible side of traveling by road, by sea, and by air. I have also learned the reality about settling down in home country. I have talked with others with similar experience. In fact i have realized that home coming planning is as important as drafting a Business plan before kick-starting a business. Failure is not hereditary, rather failure is for who opted for it. I have spent close to three years, drafting solution for the like minds; i mean those who desire to settle down in their home country, but still skeptical about what the situation would turn to be. It's true there is no perfect being when it comes to making life mistake. I talked with a traveler who arrived his home country with $2000,000.00 (i mean two million dollars) and become frustrated in the course of settling down.don't let me take all your time introducing the purpose of this discussion blog with you.
