One of theUK’s most senior clerics announced that tax avoidance is “sinful” and equals to robbery.

According to the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, not only individuals but also companies had to face the consequences of their actions.

In his opinion tax avoidance cumbered the developing countries’ efforts to tackle hunger and malnutrition.

Politicians need to focus on settling new laws as soon as possible.

Prime Minister David Cameron made everything he could in order to help the tax transparency as he persuaded many countries to co-operate and share information.

Despite the fact that tax avoidance can not be called illegal, Amazon, Google and Starbucks have been criticized seriously because of the lack of correspondence between the low level of tax they pay and their high profits.

The prime mister declared that the countries, which make up G8 group (UK, US,Russia, Germany France,Italy,JapanandCanada) may help changing the situation with the amount of tax that large companies do pay.

An agreement was made on Saturday by theUK’sOverseasTerritoriesand Crown dependencies to sign up to a tax evasion clampdown.

However, campaigners said this was not enough. They want laws which to ensure firms pay as much taxes as they are obliged to.

The archbishop said world leaders need to do more in the fight against tax avoidance.

When asked if tax avoidance was sinful the archbishop said: “It is sinful, simply because Jesus was very clear; pay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.”

He added that such people robbed not only the poor but also God as he says ‘bring into my store house all the tithes’”.

The archbishop did not mention any names of companies but said they should be answering for their actions.

A review of the services of NHS inEnglandled by Sir Bruce Keogh, the medical director of NHS, stated that their current system of round-the-clock urgent and emergency care is not simple and co-ordinated enough.

Many patients had shared they did not know who to turn to in case of urgent medical help.

This review offered a great opportunity for improvement.

It states that yearly NHS needed to cope with around 100m urgent calls or unplanned visits.

The reasons for the increased demand are many- frail old patients, long-term illnesses, new treatments and so on.

This report was led in order to review all kinds of emergency care from walk-in centers to minor injury centers. The final decision was that the pressure throughout the system was too high.

The report says: “The fragmentation and diverse nomenclature of urgent care services acrossEnglandcauses confusion amongst patients and healthcare professionals in terms of services offered.

“This can lead to patients presenting at services that may not best suit their needs.”

However, people keep increasing their reliance on telephone advice but there are cases when people seek second opinion because they are not confident enough.

Patients also mentioned that community pharmacists were not providing enough patient-awareness and that they would like to see more often senior staff on duty.

Prof Keith Willett, who is chairing the review’s steering group, said:

“To relieve the pressure and design a system that is sustainable and fit to meet future challenges, we need as many patients, doctors, nurses and NHS colleagues as possible to get involved.”

As a response to the plans of the Ministry of Justice to cut legal aid, court staff from the whole country will soon go on strike. On Monday morning, staff in county, magistrates’ and crown court will leave their working places and go out for half a day.

Members of the Public Commercial Services union voted the strike last month.

Civil service employees are going to go on strike next week. The reason for this strike are cuts in pensions, and jobs.

Last Tuesday several hundred lawyers gathered in centralLondonoutside the Ministry of Justice protesting against the cuts.

“This is the first time lawyers and court staff have joined together,” said John Nicholson, a Manchester-based barrister who will coordinate the demonstration. “We are defending access to justice and legal aid; we are against privatisation.”

The proposals for cuts in the funding for judicial reviews will also lead to protests among court staff. Another proposal says that money would be saved from contracting out collection of fines.

Yesterday the Equality and Human Rights Commission came out with the opinion that these changes would influence the access to justice for those whose condition and means are not as expected.

The general secretary for the PCS said that the intransigence of the MoJ told members of his union to join the strike.

“These workers provide vital services every day across our justice system, and they do not deserve to be shunned by ministers who are refusing to even talk to us about the cuts they are imposing.”

According to Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt surgeons need to be charge to disclose details of their performance, such as mortality rates.

He said in his opinion public has all the rights to receive this information.

He decided to share his views right after it became evident that doctors would be able to

opt out of the new performance league tables for 10 specialities on data protection grounds.

These new league tables will appear next month and will cover 4,000 surgeons. They are considered as one of the main steps that the government would take in order to make the service more transparent.

The percentage of doctors who stated they would not release any kind of information is 4%.

Until now NHS has not disclosed the names of these doctors but this way it prompts Hunt to draw up plans for “naming and shaming”.

Hunt said: “In an era of public concern over patient safety issues at Mid Staffordshire hospital, this will be a major step forward in restoring public confidence.”

Norman Williams, the President of the Royal College of Surgeons, said he was not against the idea of openness. He mentioned that patients were the most important side in this case so they had to know if a certain doctor meets the required standards or not.

What he stressed on was that the information had to be correct so that patients could be protected.

“We believe in openness and we wish to see surgeons’ data out there in the public domain. But I have to say that it’s very important that it’s reliable and robust data,” he said.

The reforms that the government has proposed include the replacement of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) with Personal Independence Payments (PIPs)

According to ministers PIPs would be more helpful for the people in need.

However, a charity announced that about a fifth of the claimants would most probably lose their benefits.

Thousands of new claimants have applied for PIPs for two months. Most of the people who currently claim DLA will not be re-assessed until 2015 or later.

Lee Healey, managing director of benefits advisers IncomeMAX, said disabled people needn’t be worried about the reforms.

“There will still be a lot of people who can claim benefit for mobility and care needs,” he said.

Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) came out with figures claiming that by 2018 about 450,000 will not have the right to claim the benefit but the government disagreed with this statement claiming that the new system would be more helpful for people in need.

Most of the disabled people shared that in their opinion this was all about saving money but the government explained that expenditure is expected to rise from £12.6bn in 2009/10, to £13.8bn in 2015/16.

The positive thing here is that taxpayers will pay less than what they had expected because of the smaller number of people receiving the benefit.

Because of the new system 75% of the applicants will be required to attend face-to-face interviews. These interviews will estimate their ability to wash, dress, cook and make journeys. In the words of the government not only the physical but the mental abilities would also be tested.

Stephen Capita the head of Capita’s PIP programme told the BBC that tests would not be difficult at all.

“Applicants could be asked to bend over and touch their toes, but it will not be more complicated than that,” he said.

Due to the economy and problems with the supplies the model making firm Hornby has reported serious annual loss.

Last year the company had £4m profit and now it reported a pre-tax loss of £3.4m.

However, the opinion of Chairman Roger Canham is that despite this loss people had to be optimistic about the future of Hornby. He shared some of the plans of Hornby intending to increase the production in theUK.

As parts of these plans comes a new line of Airfix model, the kits of which were launched last year. The main part of its manufacturing is now done inIndiaandChinabut these will be produced inSussex.

Hornby model railways, Scalextric, Airfix, Humbrol and Corgi are included in the Horny’s brands. Almost two-thirds of Hornby’s models are sold in theUKbut it also sells in mainland Europe and theUS.

Unfortunately the expectations of Hornby on the 2012 Olympics were far different than the final results. It believed the profit would be much larger.

“This year was one of challenging economic conditions in all of our major markets that were exacerbated by continuing disruptions to the model railway supply chain,” it said.

This situation made Hornby write down the assets of its Italian business by £2.4m.

Another £0.7m was spent on restructuring.

The final calculation showed that the final profits were £0.15m, as a year earlier they were £4.5m.

“Consumer confidence in all our major markets continues to be weak,” said Mr Canham, who took over as chairman in November.

He also mentioned that retailing would soon become a bigger part of the business.

People expect that the new guidance to local councils will speak in support of the wishes of local residents, as they have to be more important than the creation of renewable energy sources. Locals will be given the possibility to block onshore windfarms but at the same time the government will try changing their opinion through different subsidies. There is a great probability that people would welcome the new developments, as they would be promised to get large discounts on their energy bills.

The expected changes are significant. Subsidies per megawatt will rise from £1,000 to £5,000.

Developers themselves will have the final word about the way these money would be spent.

Energy Secretary Ed Davey said: “It is important that onshore wind is developed in a way that is truly sustainable – economically, environmentally and socially – and today’s announcement will ensure that communities see the windfall from hosting developments near to them, not just the wind farm.”

Citizens ofAberdeenwill soon experience the changes that a similar scheme might bring. Those living near the Meikle Carewe site will get £122 off their annual electricity bills.

Maria McCaffery, on the other hand, said that according to her the proposals were disappointing, as companies would most probably not want to invest that much as the planned developments needed.

As the investment has to be made upfront and people are advised to pay more into community funds so that the future projects may come true, these plans for wind energy development may turn into anything else but economy.

A recent survey pointed out that last month was the one that registered the strongest growth in the manufacturing sector in theUKfor the last year.

Having in mind that a figure above 50 indicates expansion researchers stated that only for May the Markit/CIPS Purchasing Managers’ Index rose with 1.3- starting from 50.2 in the previous month and reaching 51.3.

Other signs of progress are the jobs that the manufacturing sector created for the first time in four months.

According to Markit economist Rob Dobson due to the weaker commodity prices the cost of raw materials was also highly influenced.

“Although the domestic market was the main impetus to new order inflows, demand from overseas markets at least managed to keep its head above water”.

Analysts shared their view that things would become better for the future.

In the words of Stephen Cooper,UKhead of diversified industrials at KPMG, the situation was still not an easy one but the survey sounded optimistic so it could be assumed as a light in the tunnel.

A similar survey was hold for the eurozone and its results showed that the decline in bloc’s manufacturing sector had eased in May.

Markit’s Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) for the eurozone manufacturing sector rose with 1.6.

Manufacturing makes not more than 10% of theUKeconomy but due to the fast temps of its growth it will soon influence many areas and especially the services sector.

In spite of the optimistic future that the survey allotted to theUK’s economy some figures showed a fall of £300m in the first three months of the year in the amount of money that banks and building societies are lending out as part of the Bank of England’s Funding for Lending Scheme.

There were 2,000 guests at the service marking the 60th anniversary since the Coronation of the Queen. Some of them had also been at her first such service in 1953.

More than 20 relatives accompanied the Queen.

The Coronation Chair, the heavy, solid gold St Edward’s Crown, the Ampulla with the holy oil which was poured for the Queen’s anointing and other items from the first Coronation were brought to Westminster Abbey for the current event.

The music to which the Queen and Prince Philip entered the Abbey was also the same which sounded in 1953.

Then the Queen was only 27 years old.

The Queen was noticed to kneel at the abbey’s altar and pray.

Archbishop Welby said:

“We do not know what was prayed. Her Majesty knelt at the beginning of a path of demanding devotion and utter self-sacrifice, a path she did not choose, yet to which she was called by God.”

About 27 million Britons watched the Coronation on the TV.

The Prince of Wales who joined the Queen at the abbey was only four in 1953.

Other royals who also went to the Coronation were Prince Harry, the Duke of York, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, Lady Louise Windsor, the Princess Royal and Zara Phillips with her husband Mike Tindall.

One of the six maids of honour in 1953, Lady Glenconner, told the BBC:

“I remember standing by the door… I remember a roar coming round, we could hear everybody shouting. Then suddenly around the corner came this amazing golden coach, it was like a fairy tale.

“She was so beautiful. When she got out of the coach, the tiny waist she had, the wonderful complexion, she just looked the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen.”
