Hello,

I've been researching Freeware AV, Firewall and AntiSpyware/Malware programs for a while. I just ran out of a free trial of Windows Live One Care and although it was not bad it costs $50 per year! Also, on my other pc I tried a Internet Security Suite by CA which is free from my cable company (BrightHouse) but didn't feel safe with it. Its scans were only seconds long and many reviews were not favorable either.

So today I installed a bunch of new freeware programs on both my kids' and my own pc and need advice on how often to run these scans.

Anti Virus = Avira Antivir Personal Free
Firewall = Agnitum Outpost Free
Anti Spyware/Malware= Ad Aware AE (been using), Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware Free, and Spyware Blaster

I only have one AV and one firewall running. I know I should use multiple spyware programs but is this too many?

I'd really apprecialte any advice on how to set up schedule for the AV and Firewall and how often to run all the scans.

Is Spyware Blaster a scanner or more like a "guard" of my computer?

Also, if I've missed anything or mad bad choices I'd love to hear.

Thank you so much in advance as I've been lurking around heare for a little while and decided to become active.

Problems have been few & small- I've always had Norton security. Now I have a BIG problem.

Like my auto, my knowledge is limited to describing what's wrong to a good mechanic. But I never needed a computer tech before- I could always figure out how to fix the PC. I once looked up Basic Word & was astounded by the size & complexity of the volume & knew the tech details were too difficult for me.
Help! Trying to restore RAID0 array on A8N-SLI

Hello,
Thanks for looking-

I have a ASUS A8N-SLI mobo with 2x 250GB Maxtor DiamondMax10 SATA drives in RAID0

They have been happy until recently when I had a problem with my 6800GT (which is now replaced with a 8500GT)

My RAID0 doesn't appear in My Computer or even Disk Management

It has lots of my Video Production work on it, so I'm desperate to get it back!

I'm not sure what software/utilities I should have on the PC and suspect that's the issue, as I think I've enabled/configured RAID in the BIOS correctly.

I wasn't sure what version of nForce drivers/nVidia utilities to install, and think some of them may be wrong?

I was getting an error upon boot:
"nvidia raid service english has encountered a problem"
so removed nvidia RAID from startup.. I also have other nVidia software including 'PhysX' which doesn't launch anymore:
'NvCplUI.exe - Application Error' memory could not be read...

Any help would be amazing. Ask what you need to know

I have AVG Free on my computer but would like to remove it. Is it safe to do this. Years ago when I tried to delete AOL there were all sorts of problems. Is the same thing likely to happen if I remove AVG?

From Mike the owner of Free PC Help to the staff to the members to everyone the world over.

The spirit of giving is alive and well the world over. It doesn't matter where you are from or how you do it.

It might be giving free PC advice. It might be donating to charity. It might be babysitting for someone in need. There are many ways that people give of themselves every single day.

I'm sure we all know of what I speak.

Here is just one classic example of one persons determination to make a difference.
