However, modeling requires much more than being good-looking. Learn what people look for in models and learn how to become a model yourself.

Physical Appearances

Model

It goes without saying that modeling is an attractiveness game. Not only must you be beautiful, but you must also translate well into photos. You should be an image of good health: clear eyes, clear skin, white teeth, smooth shiny hair, nothing that suggests stress or illness. Modeling, like everything else, has beauty trends. A certain facial structure, hair type or even skin type can be in vogue and demand.

Kinds of Modeling

There are many kinds of modeling out there, although some are more profitable than others, and each have specific demands. You can be a runway model, a catalogue model, a commercial model or even a hand model. Check your strengths and weaknesses-for example, runway models are required to be tall and thin, while commercial models would focus more on your facial features than your height. Try to venture in every kind of modeling there is if you can.

Learn What Looks Good

Spend time practicing facial expressions such as happy, sultry, or neutral in front of a mirror. During auditions, your client will most likely ask you to show different facial expressions. Practicing your expressions will ensure that you put your best foot forward. You should also practice different modeling poses, and the different angles that will look artistic, or accentuate your long limbs or your neck.

Learn Your Angles

If you want to be a photo model, you have got to know what your best angles are, and how to hide your flaws. Having your pictures taken and consulting with your agent or photographer will help you decide what your strengths and weaknesses are in photos.

Stand Up Straight

Modeling is essentially a kind of sales talk where you convince buyers that what you're wearing will look good on them, too. Standing up straight conveys confidence and coolness that will help sell better. You wouldn't buy clothes from a slouching model, would you?

Learn to Walk

To walk like a model, first take a proper stance. Your steps should be one foot in front of the other, toes pointing forward, as if walking a beam or a tight rope. As you step, you must place the ball of your foot down first and keep the weight balanced there instead of the heel. This will give you a more graceful stride. Take big strides by lifting your foot up completely, similar to a show horse but not exaggerated to make you actually look like one. Take large enough steps. Look straight, tilting your face slightly downward, without fixing your eyes on one person. Use a neutral face but let your body do the talking. Your fingers should be relaxed, open and hanging loosely. Walk briskly, but not too quickly. Once you've become more comfortable with the proper walk, you can add a little more pizazz by adding a light sway in your hips.
 How to Model

Kids Craft Idea - Making Waxed Paper Leaves

Kids ability account are accessible that baby to the adroitness needs and requirements of kids and one can calmly accomplish them with food that are calmly accessible at home.

Waxed cardboard leaves:
With this simple kids ability idea, you can adapt ablaze autumn leaves and adore them all year round. As a beginner, your focus needs to be on practice and getting the first shoot under your belt. Once this is done, the next steps will fall into place.

First Time Beginners

For a girl brand new to modeling, getting through the first shoot can be more difficult than it seems. Typically, beginners are much more nervous than necessary. One main reason is not being prepared or knowing what to expect during the time in front of the photographers camera.

How to Prepare

When preparing for the model photo shoot, you will want to practice poses with various outfits to give you the ability to stand, sit or lie in various positions without feeling uncomfortable. Look through fashion or glamour magazines to see how the professionals look natural and fluid in their posing and expressions.

Movement

The idea is that a stationary pose often needs to look as if it were in motion. Many shots are taken as you move from one dramatic position to the next, often over exaggerating the pose positions for effect. After you practice for a while in the mirror (not just an hour or two), schedule a shoot with a photographer you are comfortable with and start getting your portfolio together.

The Must-have Picture

Along with the portfolio, you will want to be able to pick an excellent head shot. This photo is preferred by many agencies as clear, shot outdoors, with little or no makeup, and good lighting. A professional photographer should easily be able to accomplish this look for you and guide you to the right expression. Work on other pose ideas also to round out your portfolio with a variety of pictures from your model photo shoot to put in your book.

Selecting the Best Pictures and Comp Cards

Once your model photo shoot is complete, you will want to select the photos you are going to use for the portfolio. First, as stated above, find the best head shot so you can put together a comp or composite card.

The main photo will be the full size of one side of the card. On the front (with the head shot), you display your name in bold letters. On the back, you may want to have additional information including your physical statistics (including bust, waist and hip measurements) and other smaller photographs in poses ranging from full length to 3/4 to close up images as examples of your work. This will be your professional business card.

Turning Your Dream Into a Working Model

Having gone from aspiring to be a model to this point, you have stepped into the world of professional modeling. As you become more comfortable and develop your talent, you will find that confidence goes a long ways to growing your career.

So, don't take your first model photo shoot for granted. Get it right and you'll be ahead of 80% of the females getting started. Yes, it's work but, when you walk past the billboard with your photo on it, you'll find it's well worth the trouble.
Model Photo Shoot - Tips for Beginners

RC Helicopters - A Flying Guide For Beginners

After you have mastered the skills of flying an RC airplane, and you still feel the need for an even greater adrenalin rush, you may want to consider the RC helicopter next. If you do, then here are some very important pointers to keep you from becoming discouraged with the complexity of helicopter flight, and some recommendations that will keep the hobby from blowing a hole in your wallet.

Before you get started and even before you purchase your first RC helicopter, you will find that it is very important to learn everything you possibly can about how the helicopter works. What mechanisms surrounding the main rotor cause it to go forward, backward, left and right. What makes the helicopter body spin clockwise or counterclockwise? What happens when the main rotor blade pitch changes? Then, once you understand these characteristics, you will have removed a few crashes from your future.

Papercraft

Keep in mind that once you commit to RC helicopter flying, you will not settle with just one craft, so you may as well start simple with a 4-channel model having counter rotating main blades and an artificial, nonworking or nonexisting tail rotor. Even then, you will save yourself numerous crashes by learning on an RC flight simulator that connects an RC radio-type device to your computer. (The most common brands are Airfly Pro Deluxe, RealFlight, and ClearView). With a simple craft or a simulator, you will be able to train yourself to stay oriented. Staying "oriented" with the helicopter is one of the most challenging aspects of learning this type of flying vehicle.

One thing is for sure, when you start flying the real thing, you are going to crash, so don't blame the manufacturer for your crash. Helicopters are mostly beyond the flying skills of 96% of people in this hobby, so accepting the facts of your future may save you some anger and heartache. Some folks crash a few times and give up, but it takes a lot of practice. Did I say "a lot of practice"? Well here it is again if I did, it takes a lot of practice!

Like I said, learn on a simple helicopter. Don't even think about adding accessories and upgrades to your helicopter unless you are advancing in your skills and are able to fly for a reasonable amount of time and number of times without crashing. The accessories and upgrades WILL NOT cause the novice to fly better because its takes skill and practice. Generally, an RC helicopter is fairly easy to fly as long as you can see it and stay oriented. Plus, you have to understand how the control sticks on the radio affect the movement of the helicopter.

Get an instructor. Beginners can't tell if a certain problem is with you or the helicopter like an instructor can. It is highly likely that there is an RC flying club nearby, and experienced helicopter flyers are very happy to lend you a hand. So, do some asking around before you go off alone to tackle RC helicopter flying.

When it comes to actually flying, don't try to trim Electric Tail Rotor Motor(ETRM) helicopters to make it stop spinning on the ground. They have to be trimmed at eye level(in the air). This is another good reason to have an instructor. Also, you will need to have training gear installed on your skids. This gear is the sticks in the shape of an "X", most of the time with brightly painted foam or plastic balls on the tips. This training gear is like training wheels on a bicycle, to keep your helicopter from tipping over so easily when close to the ground.

When learning to hover, keep the nose pointed away from you, and practice at eye level. Never watch the tail rotor, watch the nose. Staying oriented relies on you concentrating on the position of the nose, because moving the rudder stick to the right causes the helicopter nose to go right (clockwise).

Never fly away until you learn how to hover. Get the art of hovering perfected before you attempt lateral or forward movement. Compared to an airplane, the helicopter ailerons, rudder, and elevator movement are basically the same during normal forward flight, however, the helicopter behaves different than an airplane in that you additionally experience "slide". When making turns with a helicopter, you must keep the nose down, otherwise it will slide out of the turn, disorient you and crash. The transmitter is your helicopter cockpit, so you can re-orient yourself by pointing the transmitter antenna in the same direction as the helicopter nose. However, never fly behind you; always keep the helicopter in front of you unless you are getting yourself re-oriented.

Always use both the index finger and the thumb on the left stick of the radio. On the right-hand control stick, just a thumb is ok if you are comfortable with it. Slight movements of the control sticks cause drastic movements with the helicopter and keeping two fingers on the left stick will help you avoid quick stick movements.

Don't let people watch you when you are learning to fly the helicopter. You need to have full concentration on the helicopter at all times without folks trying to talk you into doing a maneuver that you are not comfortable with.

Never drop the throttle stick or let it spring back for the landing (or any other time for that matter) because the rotors will spring down and hit the tail boom and break it. Always land gently. Never use quick movements on the controls, every move needs to be slow and stable.

Always remember your last move on the controls, because you will get lost at some point and need to reverse your last move until you see your helicopter again or become oriented again. Always keep the helicopter within a comfortable viewing distance, not too far to see, and not so close that you risk hitting something.

Finally, when you crash (and you will), throttle off immediately to save the motor and the rotor shaft. Other broken parts cost less to replace than the motor and the rotor shaft.
RC Helicopters - A Flying Guide For Beginners

Using Freezer Paper For Crafts Is Fun And Inexpensive

People often think of freezer paper crafting. A wise caretaker will have a handy list of indoor activities for such times. It will certainly help them to keep everyone's sanity intact!

Although there are many activities one can engage in during such times, many have been done time and time again. Who hasn't put together a couple dozen puzzles, or spent an entire day watching movies and baking cookies. Well how about trying something new? Think outside the box and stimulate the imaginations of your kids by setting out for an imaginary adventure underwater. It will be a time they just may remember more than you will even know.

Papercraft

While it could, creating a model submarine doesn't have to require expensive and complicated kits. Older kids may do well with a plastic model they can snap together, bought at a local hobby store. They may even have something that the older child can paint themselves, giving them an activity that could occupy a good portion of their day. Who know, it may even spark an interest in a new hobby!

This craft, however, is geared towards the younger child. It is a simple craft that they can take their time with, but will love doing so because it involved clay and lots of color. You will need the following list of materials:

White modeling clay such as Crayola

Washable Markers

Cardboard roll, optional

Chenille stems in silver

Construction paper model submarine hull. You can use an empty toilet paper roll as a form and roll the clay around it, or even a paper towel roll for a jumbo sized submarine. Bend chenille sticks into a T shape and press into the hull. These will be your propeller.

While the clay is fresh from the pack, add stripes, rudders, a conning tower, porthole windows, and a periscope. Using fresh clay ensures that it will stick together.

Cut the top out of a box and make a diorama. Encourage kids to create an underwater scene fresh from their imaginations using crayons, markers or paint. Air-dry the scene. Glue your background and submarine into the box. Searching for specific terms, like "embroidery" instead of "sewing or "knitting" instead of "craft" is often necessary, as there are few keywords in free books descriptions to help you find them!

Papercraft

Kindle Books- You can download a kindle app to read these on your computer, phone, and iPad. Kindle books might not work on the Nook, Sony, or other ebook readers. These book can all be found to download for kindle or can be read through the Gutenberg website (which often has the pictures for the book, if available).

Exercises in Knitting
No pictures for most of the patterns. Includes patterns to make finished items and patterns to design your own (lace patterns, etc). Patterns do not tell you what abbreviations mean (for increases, for example), so it is hard to tell if the patterns are correct.

Handbook of Wool Knitting and Crochet
Includes instructions for sweater, hats, gloves/mittens, scarves, etc in knit and crochet.

The Ladies' Work-Book Containing Instructions In Knitting, Crochet, Point-Lace, etc
Includes both a large number and wide variety of patterns, from childern's clothing to housewares.

The Ladies' Work-Table Book Containing Clear and Practical Instructions in Plain and Fancy Needlework, Embroidery, Knitting, Netting and Crochet
Variety of patterns, limited instructions (old patterns did not include as much information as patterns do now)

Embroidery and Tapestry Weaving
Includes information on tools, set up, and weaving.

Vegetable Dyes Being a Book of Recipes and Other Information Useful to the Dyer
This book needs a review all by itself. Suffice to say, like most old dye book, the information may not be completely accurate (this book contains information on dyeing with dandelion root, which people have not been able to duplicate the color of). Vegetable Dyes is, however, an interesting read, and unlike many of the natural dye book on the market, is chock full of text and information, not just pictures.

Embroidery and Needlework Books:

Beeton's Book of Needlework
Tatting, knitting, and embroidery patterns. Keep in mind that written patterns often use different language and make different assumptions than we do now.

Art in Needlework
No pictures, but describes various embroidery types and stitches.

General Craft Books:

Things To Make by Archibald Williams
Geared more towards the home inventor than crafter, it is all about building models and useful things for the home (shed, bench, rain gauge...). However, there are no pictures in the free version.

A Course In Wood Turning by Otto K. Wohlers and Archie S. Milton
Exactly as it sounds. Interesting (short) read if you are untested in sheep, spinning, or fiber processing.

Jacobean Embroidery Its Forms and Fillings Including Late Tudor
Jacobean embroidery is an English embroidery technique. See the Gutenberg version of Jacobean Embroidery for the pictures. Some people call it Crewel, and it is worked in wools. Examples are often ornate, with floral and animal motifs

Aboriginal American Weaving
Sadly, the pictures do not come through in the free version (for kindle).

Prehistoric Textile Fabrics Of The United States
Extremely short, no pictures, but a quick read for people looking for a view of how people started studying weaving (looms and baskets)

A Study Of The Textile Art In Its Relation To The Development Of Form And Ornament
A look at weaving (baskets, embroidery, etc). In the United States alone, tea sales almost tripled from less than two billion dollars in 1990 to over six billion dollars in 2005, according to the Tea Association of the United States.

At present, you will surely find a variety of tealeaves, such as oolong, rose, vanilla, jasmine, mint, and even fruit teas, including lychee, lemon and mango, in local supermarkets and coffee shops. Even tea bags have evolved from the common rectangular shape to the new circular or pyramid-shaped tea bag that is infused with long tealeaves instead of dust, which are indistinguishable tealeaf particles.

Papercraft

Along with the rise in the popularity of tea drinking over the years is the emergence of tea bag folding. Tiny van der Plaas, a woman from Holland, was the one who created this tea bag envelope inspired paper craft. She came up with the idea of tea bag folding, which is commonly known as Miniature Kaleidoscopic Origami, when she started to fold up a fruit tea bag envelope while thinking of a novel way of creating a birthday card for her sister.

Tea bag folding basics

Tea bag folding can be compared to origami, a popular Japanese paper craft, in the sense that both hobbies make use of paper to create various designs. However, tea bag folding creations are usually just used to decorate cards and are made using small matching paper squares. In contrast, the Japanese origami cannot only be used as decorations for cards and gifts, but also to produce paper replicas of different animals, flowers, and almost anything under the sun.

In the past, only tea bag envelopes were used for this paper craft technique. As more and more people all over the world learn of this paper folding art, however, paper manufacturers have started to produce specialty papers exclusively for miniature kaleidoscopic origami. Tea bag folding aficionados all across the globe have also modernized this paper craft art by coming up with more magnificent and intricate geometric designs and innovative and unique materials.

Kaleidoscope papers come in various colors and designs, such as flowers, stars, musical instrument, snowflakes, dragons, spirals, and even soccer balls. Most tea bag papers available in the market are printed in 90-100 grams per square meter paper.

Uses of miniature kaleidoscopic origami

Tea bag folding was traditionally used to decorate birthday cards. Now, you can use this colorful and wonderful paper craft as decorations of greeting cards for all occasions. Some people utilize tea bag folding to decorate photo frames, wall frames, wall clocks, and even scrapbooks. With just a bit of imagination and creativity, you can make use of tea bag folding to decorate almost anything and everything.

Moreover, tea bag folding can be considered as a relaxing hobby. If you feel that you are on the edge, stressed out because of too much work, try creating tea bag folding designs, and you will definitely loosen up a bit.

Tea bag folding materials

The most important material of this craft is tea bag envelope - if you want to be traditional - or colorful paper. For a more intricate effect, you might want to choose paper with geometric designs and elaborate patterns.

Other essential materials of tea bag folding are cutting mat, scissors, ruler (preferable metal edged), knife or cutter, and paper adhesive.

Popular tea bag folding designs

For people who are interested in starting a miniature kaleidoscopic origami, you can find a lot of materials and reference over the Internet. There are also some scrapbooking stores that carry tea bag folding materials and books that could help you learn this paper art. If you are on a tight budget, you can even just print tea bag folding designs that are available on the Net.

If you are a neophyte tea bag folding practitioner, you might want to start creating tea bag rosettes. This is a colorful flower-shaped design that can be used to decorate gifts, cards, and even bookmarks. Another beautiful tea bag folding design that has caught the hearts of many is the starburst design. You can use glitters so that your paper star design will look more brilliant and vibrant.

Tea bag folding is an easy and inexpensive hobby you can take on. Once you have started tea bag folding, you will surely get instantly hooked.
Tea Bag Folding: A Cornucopia Of Style

Recycled Craft Projects - Fun Ways to Use Shredded Paper

Do you love to reuse and recycle items for your craft projects? Though the shreds are thinner than what most people use for PAPER CRAFT supplies such as paint, lace, buttons, or other materials. Make them in a theme such as Easter baskets for the kids, Christmas goodie baskets, or Get Well Soon gift baskets. Use shredded paper as the base in each container before adding other items.

Try surrounding pillar candle centerpieces with paper shreds, using them as "snow" for Christmas village displays, or placing in the bottom of vases as filler to support silk flowers or other decorative items.

Cards
Cut and fold card stock into desired card size. Spray paint shredded paper and let dry. Apply a layer of glue or double-sided tape to front of card. Carefully apply shreds to card until all tacky areas are covered. Trim excess around the edges. Add a mat and sentiment to the front of card, or any other decorative element.

More ideas include adding a second layer of shredded paper in a different direction, using shreds only as a frame on the outer edges of the card, or weaving them into a pattern either on the front of the card or inside.

Collage
Shredded paper is excellent for collage crafts. Simply add strips to collage as desired. There are a couple of ways to do this, and they are both easy.

Papier-Mâché Method

Paper Model

If your layout is temporary, or you don't want to spend much money, you can use the papier-mâché method. Basically, you just scrunch up some newspapers into the general shape of the hill or mountain, then cover them with sheets of newspaper dipped in papier-mâché paste.

The traditional method of making papier-mâché paste is to add one part water to one part flour. Some people prefer to boil the paste, saying that it makes the consistency smoother. Water to flour ratio is changed to five parts water to one part flour in this case. Other people use a three to one or a one to one ratio of water and polyvinyl acetate wood glue. Still others say that starch makes a fine paste. Adding a dash of cinnamon to the mixture gives the paste a pleasant smell; adding a dash of salt and sugar reduces the chances of the product developing mould.

You simply dip sheets of newspaper (fold them a couple of times to make them thicker) in the paste and drape them over the scrunched up newspapers. The sheets will be soft and pliable, so mould them into hills and valleys as you like. Let the papier-mâché dry overnight. You will find that it is hard and rigid, like a piñata.

Paint it with a water-based paint in shades of green (for grass) and brown (for dirt) and grey (for rock). You can also use spray paint, but make sure it is matte, not glossy, paint. While the paint is still wet, sprinkle some grass (available at the hobby shop) or green-coloured sawdust. When the paint is dry, add some lichen for bushes and trees (also available at any hobby shop).

Window Screening and Wooden Supports

If your train layout is permanent, a more durable method of making mountains and hills is to use screening and wooden supports. This also has the advantage that you can run tracks on the mountain itself, providing you make the appropriate supports. Basically, you cut wooden support blocks to the appropriate size, then drape window screening (called "fly screen" in Australia) over the blocks, stapling the screen to the blocks. You should fasten the blocks to the table with screws or nails first, so they don't move around.

If you want, you can build a second track bed around or through the mountain, elevated above the table. Simply use support blocks and plywood to make a rigid base for the track.

Once the screening is in place, pinch it in places to make rugged edges, ditches, and valleys. Then mix up some common household plaster (available at any hardware store to fix holes in a plaster wall) and slobber it over the screen. There is no need to be careful, just make sure all the screen is covered. A thicker plaster mix works much better than a thin mix, as the latter allows the screen to show through.

When you get to the rugged vertical bits, use horizontal strokes of a knife to simulate rock cuts. Let the plaster dry overnight and then paint as described above.

Finally, finish it off with lichen bushes and trees as appropriate.

Don't Forget Access

When you are deciding how big to make your mountain, and where to place it, also think about derailments. Murphy's Law guarantees that, at some point, your train is going to derail in the tunnel through your mountain. Make sure the tunnel entrance is large enough so you can reach in and get your train out.

Or consider these alternatives: If you have made a papier-mâché mountain, and not glued it to the table, you can simply lift it off the table.

If you have made a permanent wood block and wire screen mountain, then consider cutting access holes in the table, below the mountain, so you can reach in and right the train or remove it. Don't make the holes too close to the track, because if the train does derail at that spot, you don't want it to fall through the hole onto the floor.
How to Make Mountains and Hills For Your Model Railroad

Crepe Paper Streamers - Craft Ideas

Have you ever wondered what to do with crepe paper streamers after the party is over? Many times we have rolls of this stuff sitting around, and it's good to know there are a few things that you can do with them together with your kids that can be lots of fun.

Make a paper wind streamer: Get an old canister of some sort, like an old oatmeal can. Take out the bottom. Cover it with colored paper and decorate it according to the seasons, or the next holiday. Stars and stripes for July, black and orange for Halloween, etc. Then gather your streamers and cut several lengths of it about four feet long. Glue one end of the streamers to one end of the can, so that they are hanging down. Go all the way around. Use a string stapled to the other end to hang it up in the wind and then sit back and watch it spin!

A cheer wand: Make a wand that can be waved at school sports or a parade, to cheer on your favorite team. Use a 12" dowel and some glue and the crepe paper. Cut streams of the paper about 12"-14" long of your school colors, or the next holiday coming up if it is a parade. Glue the streamers to the top of the dowel. Let dry.

Pinata: Everyone loves pinatas. Whether you have a party to do, or a camp-out, or just want to liven up a family get-together, pinatas are easy to make and lots of fun. You can use something as simple as a blown up balloon to create your pinata, or you can mold your own hollow shape. Balloons are the easiest, so we will go with that example. Use strips of newspaper dipped in a paste of flour and water to cover the balloon. Let it dry. Allow several days for it to get completely dry inside. Then, pop the balloon inside and make a small hole. Fill the pinata with candy and toys, then, cover the hole with a few more strips of newspaper in paste. Next, cut up paper streamers into squares (you will need lots). Use the eraser end of a pencil that is slightly wet, and pick up the squares and glue them with white glue onto the pinata, molding them to the pencil. Put the squares close together and form a design all over the pinata. Let dry one more time, attach a string to where the balloon was tied, grab a bat and blindfold and go for it.

Paper Craft

Whatever you decide to do, don't throw the crepe paper away, have fun with it.
Crepe Paper Streamers - Craft Ideas

Karnataka SSLC Papers

One of the most crucial examinations that every student studying under the Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala State Boards appears for is the SSLC paper model tests so as to check their real time score before their final Karnataka SSLC paper model tests and practice tests available online. Not only can you incorporate fine motor skills and use of adhesives into the lesson, but you can effectively teach children the history of Valentines Day and why people like creating Valentines day decorations to hang in their homes.

This is also a great way bring a bit of added romance for couples celebrating their first Valentines Day together. Children working on this project may also want to add special messages on each heart before hanging them up as well, which adds an additional learning element to this fun project.
3 Paper Craft Valentines Day Decorations to Easily Spruce Up Your Party

Paper Crafts For Beginners

Of the many types of arts and crafts, paper craft is known to be the easiest thing to do. Also, the materials for most paper crafts like card making costs less than other types of arts and crafts. This means that beginners need not spend a fortune to undertake a single project like designing and printing a calendar 2011.

Just like other types of arts and crafts, PAPER CRAFT also has different types too. Some of these have pretty strict guidelines while some allow your creativity to roam. This factor would play a huge part when you are deciding which craft to start with or focus on. There are also types which you have to follow some guidelines but you can also add a touch of your style like card making or designing your personal calendar 2011 for next year.

Paper Craft

Card making is probably the most popular PAPER CRAFT because it is easy to do and the materials are pretty easy to get. A lot of people also use cards to thank or congratulate other people. This makes card making practical when you need to send a gift to plenty of people. Instead of buying ready-made cards, you can make your own and save some money in the process. The same techniques in this type of craft can be used to create your very own calendar 2011.

Papier-mache is also another popular PAPER CRAFTs. With enough creativity, you can make practical things with papier-mache. It can also be used to create certain decorations for the home. For the beginner, there are plenty of pointers about this craft online which would be of great help as they usually cover everything from making the framework for the papier-mache to finishing up a project with paint and whatnot.

Origami is another PAPER CRAFT easy for beginners to learn. There are also plenty of resources online that would teach you how to fold paper to create something interesting and beautiful. The simple creations made by paper folding may not be as lavish as the design of calendar 2011 but they do make great everyday token of appreciation for friends in the workplace.

There are other crafts like collage making which you can find resources for online just like you would with card making. Getting supplies for any paper craft you choose would also be easy with online stores now offering supplies for making calendar 2011 and other paper craft projects.
 Paper Crafts For Beginners

Common Paper Craft Materials You Would Need

Starting with paper craft is easy especially with designs and ides scattered around the Internet. Also, you may already have an idea that you want to see materialize. It is obvious though that you would need the right materials for this hobby and when you go shopping for card making materials, there are just some things that you should not leave out of your list. That way, your projects would not be left hanging just because you run out of materials like ink when printing calendar 2011.

First off, you would need good quality paper crafts like making a collage depends a lot on adhesives which means you really need to stock up on it. That's not saying though that you should buy loads of them in one fell swoop. Make sure that you estimate how much you would need for a certain card making project for example before you buy. Also, there are different types of adhesives, what works on paper crafts. You might use them to paint a calendar 2011 or finish up a papier-mâché or decorating what you made out of your card making kit. Be sure though that you only use non-toxic coloring materials.

Paper Craft

These are just some of the materials you may need if you get involved in a paper craft hobby. Be sure to check out your local arts and crafts store where they sell card making materials and other supplies for projects like making calendar 2011 or similar projects. There are online sites worth taking a look at since they would usually carry plenty of materials for arts and crafts in general.
Common Paper Craft Materials You Would Need

Free Models From the Web - Spacecraft Paper Modeling

In a previous article, I discussed how I discovered the wonderful world of paper models available for download. You simply download a graphic file, print it on your inkjet printer and assemble with glue. While this medium will never replace plastic models, there is a lot to say for a model format that offers you unlimited replacement parts, scale adjustability, and usually is, well, free.

If you love space ships, as I do, there is a great variety of space models free for download. Whether you want a model based on a move, TV show or reality, you can probably find it. Currell Graphics features models of the (pre-spaceage) V-2 rocket from WWII and the SpaceShipOne. The Lower Hudson Valley paper model features some great models of NASA craft in their "Real Space" section, including several versions of the Space Shuttle, the upcoming Ares moon craft and even a 4 foot tall Saturn V Apollo rocket.

Paper Model

You'll find many card model available based on spaceships of movies and TV. An easy starter would be Erwin de Jong's saucer from "The Day the Earth Stood Still" at Cut & Paste Sci-Fi. A fairly new model on the web is a very detailed version of the Discovery from 2001: A Space Odyssey that is several feet long when finished. Battlestar Gallactia (both versions) are well covered, as are several other popular and less well-known shows. My last count was at least 40 downloadable models available depicting "Star Wars" craft, from a small and simple Tie Fighter to a very detailed At-At walker. The "Star Trek" franchise takes the ribbon for the most free model downloads on the web. I've documented about 100 and I'm sure there are many more around.

Constructing space models in paper models. The trickiest part tends to be in matching the joints of cylindrical hull sections. I like to complete each section, dry it and fit the next section to the previous one. And while many card model files include bases, I almost always prefer to suspend them by nylon thread from the ceiling. You can poke holes along the hull during assembly and embed buttons inside with the thread tied to it. Doing this in 2 places along the length allows 2 contact points for the string for easy leveling. An easier method is to simply locate the center of gravity of the finished model and tie the thread around that section of the fuselage. Transparent thread will be basically invisible.

A couple of good places to start looking for free space-oriented card models are Free paper model Giftshop.
Free Models From the Web - Spacecraft Paper Modeling

Miniature Model Airport Design

Miniature Model Airports have become a way for collectors to show off their collection of miniature airplanes. Amongst all the different types of miniature airplanes on the market today, die cast airplanes are the best. The quality and detail on the die cast airplanes is superior compared to the same scale plastic planes. The three most popular scales are 1:200, 1:400 and 1:500.

The 1:500 scale is the smallest of the three. It is dominated by Herpa Wings. Herpa is a big provider of not only die cast scale airplanes, but also die cast scale cars. Throughout the years Herpa has increased the level of detail in their models, making them some of the best for the 1:500 market. In addition to the airplanes, Herpa also offers a variety of Airport buildings, airport mat sets and accessories to build model airports. They are very nice and very detailed.

Paper Model

The 1:400 scale is a "medium size" scale. The two big players on this market are Gemini Jets and Dragon Wings. Herpa Wings also has some offerings, but not many. Gemini Jets and Dragon Wings offer some of the highest quality in both construction and detail. Gemini recently unveiled a line of Airport buildings and accessories for the 1:400 market.

The 1:200 scale is the biggest scale of the three. Lately there have been more offerings from Gemini Jets and Herpa Wings. The quality and the details are exceptional. For example, on most of these models you have rolling rubber tires and, on some models, rotating engine rotors.

When designing a model airport, you want to decide how much work you want to put into it. You can purchase ready-made airport mat sets (or foils), buildings and accessories, or you can build all from scratch. If you are building the airport from scratch, you may want to check the FAA website, under planning and capacity to get all the necessary specifications for runway length, width, clearances, etc. To convert these measurements to the proper scale, use the following formula:

measurement in inches = measurement in feet x Conversion-Factor

where Conversion-Factor is 0.024 for 1:500 scale, 0.03 for 1:400 scale, and 0.06 for 1:200 scale. For example, the width of a typical runway is 150 feet, to change this to 1:500 scale:

150 x 0.024 = 3.6 inches wide

If you want to design your own terminals, you can use a variety of materials. For the beginner, you can use Balsa wood, or cardboard. For the most advanced, you can go to your local hobby shop, and check out the model railroad area. Much of these materials can be used in the construction of buildings for your airport. Whatever the level, use your imagination and have fun!
 Miniature Model Airport Design
