This year I think I'm going to have an advent calendar for my son. I tried it once before with a store bought one filled with chocolate and the whole thing was torn to shreds and the chocolate extracted in the middle of the night. He's older now, so I think he can understand the point of it a little better. Plus he's way more picky about the type of candy he eats now. I'm going to make the printable advent calendar from Minimega so that I can wrap up tiny tops for Daaks (he's obsessed with tops).

Free Printables for Thanksgiving

I don't much care for Thanksgiving. At my house I like to call it "Forced Servitude and Football Day" where the whole family piles on a ton of extra cooking, cleaning, and washing up then retires to the glory of grunting at the television while I'm stuck with the mess and wrapping up leftovers. My crew isn't as good at the "giving thanks" part as they are at the eating part. That's why we go visit family on Thanksgiving when ever possible. Then I can be handy and helpful without feeling harried and ticked off and everyone takes the time to actually GIVE THANKS. Of course, my husband LOVES Thanksgiving.

I'm lucky that there are people out there that like turkey day more than me or there'd be no Thanksgiving printables.

Thank goodness Pampers, Playdates, and Parties is a better hostess than me. She's compiled an awesome list of free printables for Thanksgiving that are classy and cute.

I liked her list so much... Here's her button! Go tell her how cool she is.

Kaboose has a printable Turkey Football game that might keep the kiddos busy along with some other fun things. I couldn't find the image file for the bowling, which would have been awesome. If you see it, let me know where it is.

Of course when it comes to coloring pages you can just do a Google Image Search for "Halloween coloring pages" and find everything your heart could desire which is why rarely do coloring page posts. Tricia Rennea is one of my go to girls for great printables. She has a sassy set of printables called Mad Candy. There is Halloween art work, goodie bags, thank you notes, and a few other things. These designs are fun enough for kids parties and posh enough for do-it-yourself Halloween cheer at the office. This year Tricia created a special printable Halloween paper doll for Tip Junkie. It has THREE outfits. Three posh Halloween outfits to play with. If you haven't been to Tip Junkie yet, then here's a reason to go. If paper dolls aren't your thing head over there any way because there are a lot of wonderful free printables on her site.

MinieCo provides a printable template for creating this awesome Pac Man Ghost Garland. I'm sure there's lots of other ways you can find to use this template too. The garland is an awesome quick craft that can be used to decorate just a section of bare wall or to string around an entire porch (spray with clear spray paint to extend the life of this printable and try to hang it somewhere it won't get wet if your using it outside). Don't worry if you don't have acetate or plastic, you can sandwich the eyes between two pieces of packing tape

Pacman Hallowen Garland Template

Disney Family has their own line up of Disney themed Halloween printables. The Mickey Mouse printable candy box is cute, but its the Jack Skeleton flashlight cover that really trips my trigger.

You can always count on Cannon to produce some great printables. Of course they do! They sell printers and printer ink! They've added some new items to their line up. My old favorite the printable Halloween tree is still there along with some masks plus a new moving printable Halloween toy!

IT MOVES!

From Babble we get a list of 25 epic free Halloween printables. This is the place to score some awesome posters, cupcake toppers, and POTION BOTTLE LABELS! The navigation on this site isn't exactly intuitive because its set up as a slide show, so here's a hint, click through the pictures till you find something you like then click on the name of the website where the printable can be found to get to the download. It's a couple extra clicks but the link round up is so wonderful I can't complain!

Every year RavensBlight flips my wig with more great Halloween printables. Masks, decorations, table top games... these people go full out for spooky time. If you're adventurous you can even make a coin snatching vampire paper toy! They also have free games, music, an art gallery and more. Man, I love these people!

Martha Stewart, diva of craft, has a bazillion Halloween craft ideas. There are some printables, clip art, etc. But, my favorite are these neato carve by color pumpkin carving templates. I think I'm going to tackle a posh pumpkin upgrade this year!

One of my son's teachers sent me to Montessori for Everyone to have a look at some of the printables on their site. If you need some clean visuals stop by. His teacher will be using the life cycle of a pumpkin with him tomorrow. I was excited to find a nice visual for layers of the atmosphere. I was looking for one yesterday, but no dice. The one on their site fit the bill perfectly. They also had some story cards that could be used to help a child generate their own story by providing key words and images. Good stuff.

I loved your most recent blog post with all those great links. And you're right -- homeschoolers burn through printer paper and ink at an amazing rate! :) Since you asked for other great sites with free printable resources, I just had to reach out to you... :)

I retired from teaching kindergarten in 2008 and recently started a totally free website devoted to early childhood education - www.schoolsparks.com. All of the content is totally free, and I don't even have any advertisements or sponsors.

I have hundreds of free printable worksheets (www.schoolsparks.com/kindergarten-worksheets) on a variety of topics including letter tracing (I have 52, one for each uppercase and lowercase letter), math/number awareness, visual discrimination, auditory processing, phonemic awareness, letter/word awareness, social/emotional development, fine motor development and gross motor development. I also have 2 free e-books: 1 on helping children learn to read and 1 on helping children learn to write.

Free Autism and Homeschooling Printables

I'm homeschooling this year so I'm going to be burning the printer up! If you have any great resources to share then bring 'em on! I'm going to need all the help I can get!

I found some good links I want to share for those who have special needs children or are struggling to get their children to understand key concepts.

A smaller, more portable, and easier to use incentive chart!

Kathryn Whitaker over at Practical Autism Resources has generously devoted time to creating a huge library of printables that can be used to teach academic concepts along with social skills, behaviors, and categorization. From here I found the behavior punch card which is an excellent tool for reinforcing good work and good behavior. I'll be using this bad boy to get some serious work done this school year!

Sites for Autistic Support teachers doesn't produce their own printables but they have an awesome link list of great sites that have valuable tools and information. For that alone they deserve a big YOU ARE AWESOMESAUCE salute! Their printables section is full of great sites to visit.

Autism Hand in Hand has some good flash cards.

Can't wait to use this!

SEN Teacher wins my heart with their emotion cards and their printable skeleton which is customizable. My kid loves bones. They also have face fans and some other great printables. This is one site you HAVE to check out if you have a special needs child. They also have great programs you can download like PictoSelector. A great free resource for parents.

BTW, did I say it's great? I think I did.

ABA Resources has some printable picture reinforcers, token systems, and other resources that would be very useful to a parent using the ABA technique.

Wish I had this when I needed it!

Visual Aides for Learning rocks my socks with practical visual guides for situations like potty training and the all dreaded puberty. They also have a printable that could be used to show a child what parts of the body are private or off limits to others. The one on personal space will be useful this year as well as the one about private places. I appreciate that these images are anatomically correct when appropriate. If there's one thing I've learned about having a child with Autism is that the most straightforward answer, picture, or approach is always the best.

Elearning.Autism.Net has printable visual aides including some nice ones for voice volume. Plus there's the awesome stop, wait, listen printable that my kid is about to get very, very sick of! Looks like they have them in French too.

Worksheets for Children with Autism and other Special Needs

Blogger changed their interface while I wasn't looking so now I'm not sure what I'm doing. Anyway, if you have a special needs child check out Adaptive Worksheets. I plan on using their stuff this year with my son (got to get some printer ink first). Now, as you know I don't promote pay sites, BUT they have free resources and I've had a good look at the subscription product and to be honest, compared to similar resources available from Linguis Systems and other companies that provide these types of educational materials... what they are asking for yearly access to the site is a pittance. Seriously. we're talking dirt cheap. A year subscription is the cost of just one specialized chart or book. The owners are very sweet and even offered to make materials on a case by case basis. You can't beat that.

The behavioral charts alone are worth their weight in gold. I was so impressed that I put their link in my main links section, and you know how rarely I do that.
