We are always trying to improve our site to better accommodate all our wonderful users. After all it's all because of you that we exist :) So thanks so much

Recent Updates:

We noticed our homepage was taking a little to long to load and we discovered some of the parts that were slowing it down and so we were able to speed up our load times from 3.5 seconds down to 1.8 seconds. Ideally we would like to get under a second so lets see how we can improve on that later on.
We updated our algorithm anagram solver to function even faster. We found some areas where we could shorten the code so the results are shown even faster. We have results under a second so we are happy with those numbers for now.
Made some misc changes to our dictionary pages adding some more links.

If anyone knows how addicting word games can be it would be us. We not only develop ways to help you cheat at them, we plan them ourselves. So we want to try and share the love here at Free Scrabble Dictionary and show you all the different kinds of awesome games out there right now.

The best thing about this is that we are going to list the top 4 word games out right now as of 2014 so our list is nice and updated.

Words with friends is by far the most popular word game app in history. Of course it does not even trump our favorite game of scrabble, but in the digital world it takes the cake. While it had it's reign at the top of popularity in the last few years, it's popularity has been dropping recently so we are ranking this one at 3rd. If you do not know about words with friends, it's basically scrabble with a social twist. You can play with Facebook friends and compete for points and see who has the most points. You can then rub it in their faces when you see them in person or troll them on Facebook.

These days, it's hard to find someone who is not addicted to playing Words With Friends. This crossword-style game is similar to Scrabble and is played online via Facebook, as well as on mobile phones using their downloadable app.

According to Zynga, the maker of this game, more and more users are not only having a great time showcasing their scrabble word finder skills, but they're also using it as a tool to find love, flirt, and even cheat on their mates. According to this article, one in every ten players say WWF has lead directly to a hookup, 35% say they've let their crush win, and almost half (47%) of all players say they've got a crush on an opponent.

Matchmaking aside, Words With Friends has also been at the center of a celebrity controversy and has helped save at least one life. Read on to discover seven amazing stories brought about by a simple word game!

In January of 2012, Beth Legler started a game with Georgie and Simon Fletcher from Queensland, Australia. One day, Simon wasn't feeling well, so Georgie mentioned his symptoms to Beth using the game's messaging feature. Beth told her husband Larry, who happens to be a doctor, and he told her to have Simon seek urgent medical help right away.

Just wanted to touch base with all our users to let them know if some changes we have made that if you do not pay attention you are going to miss it.

First of all thanks so much for all your support for Free Scrabble Dictionary in our tools we provide to you and hope you have a great 2014 Year.

Updates:

We moved hosting providers recently and initially had some issues with our site staying up and running. We discovered because of our traffic we had to upgrade our servers in order to handle to load. We moved everything over, upgraded power and we are running at full speed again.
We fixed some scoring issues with some words which we recently caught. We went through all our words and double checked them to make sure all scoring points are correct and we have fixed the issue.
Added 24,000 more words to our basic dictionary

Quick Scrabble Word Finder

One feedback I've received by users of Words With Friends Cheat and Scrabble Cheat is that sometimes it takes a while to put in the entire board, and it would be nice to have a quick word finder to look up words by matching patterns. So as a result, I created the Scrabble Word Finder for everyone to use. It takes much less time to use than the cheat boards, and it will generate a list of words that are good to use for the games.

You can also use wild cards with the solver to help you generate more words and get more answers. This will help you find more words you can build off other words already on the board.

When playing scrabble the one thing you want to do is win, of course winning may not be as easy as it seems especially when you are playing against someone who knows their stuff. No need to worry we are going to explain exactly how you go about winning in scrabble every time using a free scrabble word finder.

The first thing you are going to want to do is get familiar with how word finders work. If you are familar with anagram solvers then you are in a perfect position. If not, let me explain.

What is a scrabble word finder

A scrabble word finder is an anagram solver which allows you to input letters from your scrabble game. When you input those letter they usually will return a list of words you can make with those letter. he beauty of this type of solver is that you don't need to think at all. All you do is input your letters and let it do the rest of the work for you.

That's it...

How to use it

All you have to do is input the letters in your game and let it solve all the words you can make for you. But simply using the highest scoring word that is returned to you is not the only way to use it.

Try to look at your board and see what options you have. Look at trailing letters from other words already on the board and see how you can build upon those. Most scrabble word finders will have an option for a wild card. A wild card is the ability to add a blank tile which could potentially be any letter you want it to be. That gives you way more options of words you can make. Usually most of these word finders allow you to place a question mark as a blank tile. Once you do that then the solver will return other words you can make with an additional letter.

Strategy

Now that you know what and how to use a scrabble word finder now is the time to use some strategy with it to maximize your game play. Sometimes using large high scoring words is not the only strategy to use. As you get further in your game many of the letters are being used and start to dwindle. In that case you are going to want to keep track of these letters so you can get a better understanding of what future words you can make.

Holding on to some letters and sacrificing other words might be the way to go in order to have a better word to use in the future.

Using 2 and 3 letter words can be to your advantage. Even though most of these will not provide as many high scoring words, you can make a ton of these words which over time will add up. Finding some scrabble word lists are going to give you a better idea of what words you can make, especially 2 letter words with and X or a Z in them. There are more of them than you think which is why you are going to want to familiarize yourself with these words.

There are many strategies you can use with scrabble, and these are just a few. Hands down the best way to win at scrabble is to memorize as many words as you can. Setting up a daily regimen and habit of learning just a few of these words everyday can make a huge difference.

Make Your Date Night A Scrabble Night....mmm Romance!

Clearly there is absolutely nothing more enticing when it comes to a romantic date like Scrabble! OK, that might be a bit of an under statement, however, reading this article should be able to put a few new tricks and ideas into your next potential date night. So many couples, especially ones who have been together for quite a bit of time, tend to fall into a similar routine... Movie + Dinner, Dinner + Movie or (a personal favorite) Dinner During Movie. Sounds familiar? Some have even fallen in love from a game of Words With Friends.

With many couples (1 year + I'm talking to you!) the hardest thing is actually finding the time to spend a real night out. We all work far too many hours, often have opposite schedules, and if we do get to find a spare moment to actually get out of the house, we stick with a safe date...thus the famous dinner and a movie fallback. Well, with some of these suggestions, it will hopefully open your eyes to how you can have a great date night, at home, you don't even have to spend a cent, and you will have a completely unique experience with the one you love.

All you really need for this date are things that are usually already in your house, don't forget, we are staying home for this special night. No matter whether you are the girlfriend, boyfriend, husband or wife, its so easy to set up, that I actually pulled it myself recently! What you will want to do is create a picnic style atmosphere on your bed (or floor if necessary). The center of your "picnic" will be your scrabble board, of course and your favorite scrabble word finder for those of you who need some help. You can get as fancy as you please or just stay to the basics, both will work perfectly. Find a nice wine or champagne to pair with the rest of the plates of your choosing that you will have in your spread. A variety cheese plate is always popular. Water crackers, green grapes on the vine, variety of fruit, strawberries dipped in chocolate (screams romance), tiny deserts - brownie or cake squares work well - and anything else to your heart desires. You will want small bite-size foods that you can feed to each other. Don't forget the napkins, but leave the utensils in the kitchen. Last but not least, surround your room with candles and dim lighting with some ambient background music for the perfect Ambiance.

Now that you have everything you need , start decorating! You will certainly want to leave plenty of room for the two of you on your bed, so arrange everything with that in mind. Over crowding the bed will just cause items to get knocked over and fun times NOT to be had. Set up your Scrabble board in the center and invite your partner into the room. Not only are you surprising them with a Exquisite arrangement, but you're also showing them that your usual board game night just took on a very sexy light.

Now it's time for your game. Pop open that bottle of wine, make a toast and get started. If you normally play together very competitively, this would be the night to just relax and play without the need to win. Try to only use a glossary of words that have to do with love and romance, or words significant to each other. Come together to make up a few extra rules to spice up the game such as give yourself bonus points for extra special spell outs. Slowly feed each other every time one of you spell a sentimental word... or whenever your partners eyes just look like they are twinkling.

For board game lovers - especially Scrabble lovers - it's very rare that we opportunities to mix romance with game night. However now we all can do it and as a reward, really get to enjoy our partners while playing - instead of the usual wanting to rip them to shreds when they start to win! What better way to tell your Dad how much you love him than spelling it out for him. He deserves the recognition since he helped bring you into this world. Of course he didn't have to do all the work like your Mom, but Hey! He did help. There are many creative inexpensive ways you can tell him how much you love him and we are going to show you how. Guy's need recognition for the work they do. Be sure to remind him how much you appreciate him this year and that you are glad he is your Dad.

#1 Make a Wordle

Wordle's are a great way to show someone how much you care. They are a fancy way to get a bunch of words on a paper and it looks like you spent a ton of time doing it. Head on over to Tagxedo and make one for him. We have created a few here for you to give you some ideas.

#2 Make a craft

Dad's don't need much, in fact most of the time we don't need anything. The only thing your Dad wants from you us for you to show him how much you appreciate him and what he does for you. Being a Father myself I know that is the best gift of all. Here are some craft ideas to help you or your kids out.

#3 Wash his car for him

Let me tell you, one of the best things you can do for your Dad is wash his car. Guys like to have a clean car, but don't want to do the work to do it. Take the car to your local car wash and shine it up nice. Even better just go out with a hose and a bucket and clean it yourself. That really spells LOVE for a Dad.

#4 Leave him alone

OK I know this one sounds bad, but trust me. If most guys are like me, and I know they are he will love you for this one. Dad's love to be with family, play with their kids and just hang out. But most guys love their free time. They just want to sit at the end of the day, put their feet up and watch T.V. or even sleep. On Father's Day tell him he can do whatever he wants. Encourage him to do nothing, he might feel like you will want him to hang out with you so make sure you let him know that he can just sit around the house and be lazy. If you really want to hang with him then let him be by himself for the morning and afternoon and then when dinner times rolls around take him out for a nice meaty dinner.

In Memory of Memorial's Day

As we enter the middle/late may, we quickly realize that summer is literally right around the corner. Along with that, it marks the last Monday of May where we pay tribute to our fallen soldiers of the armed forces during Memorial's Day.

With a much different meaning, it seems, in modern day, we mainly get excited for that much earned 3-day weekend from work. Unlike Veteran's Day which honors American soldiers both living and deceased, Memorial's Day pays tribute to the over 1 million brave souls who died fighting for our country. But realistically, what are we truly celebrating?

Well to begin, ladies - you're most likely excited to be able to wear those white Capri pants and high heels which you tucked away after last years Labor Day. Men and families all over - I guarantee you have already begun cleaning your grill and stocking up on all the meaty goodness that your freezer will hold. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing more rewarding than getting a 3-day weekend off to spend with your family and friends, or going out drinking and blacking out while wearing an American Flag somewhere hidden in your attire.

Memorial Day is currently a time to party. There is no better way to put it, however, there is nothing wrong with that either. We work hard and therefore deserve to play hard, don't we? Of course we do! Though during the festivities, why not remember what the holiday is really about?

Falling on this year, it officially marks the beginning of summer! Hip hip hooray! It was originally named "Decoration Day" since it represents loved ones of deceased soldiers decorating tombstones with many flowers, American flags and trinkets. The name "Decoration Day" was originally used in 1882 by many woman in Savannah, GA. Today, in cities all over the the country, we still raise an American flag up the flag post briefly until it is then set to half-staff until usually, when it is once again raised back up to full-staff.

No matter what you or your loved ones plan to do this Memorial's Day, make sure to remember that we live in an immaculate country with incredible history. Instead of just partying this Memorial's Day, a great way to canonize our fallen comrades is by taking a commemorator moment of silence. Enshrining those that dedicated their lives for the rights of all people. And thanks to our ancestors, we get to enjoy it just a little bit more this holiday weekend. So cheers to our armed forces, our veterans, and deceased loved ones, we salute you... With liquor!

High Scoring Words vs. Low Scoring Words in Scrabble

I thought I would touch on this topic about when to use the higher scoring words vs. the lower scoring words in scrabble. Since I get a ton of emails of people asking me this I thought i would share.

When you sit down to play a game of scrabble or even words with friends naturally the first thought that comes to your head is to obtain as many high scoring words as you can and that will help you win. What is more exciting than scoring a 60 to 70 point word right? We if you have played scrabble for any length of time you know that getting words to score high is not that often. So what do you do with the rest of your letters? That's where skill comes into play and I am going to show you why.

Scrabble consists of 100 tiles. Of the 100 tiles 70 of them are worth 1 point. These letters are E, A, I ,O U, N, R, T, L, S. With that taking up 70% of the letters in the entire game of scrabble you are only left with 30% of the tiles to form higher scoring words. At this point your odds aren't too bad, but they are not looking to good. If you noticed in the 1 point letters that all of them are vowels. According to Parker Brother 66% of all the words in the official word list contain vowels. That will only leave you 34% of all the words you can make without vowels. Of that 34% you only have a 30% chance to make a word. Doesn't seem to promising at this point does it? This is where the question "High Scoring vs. Low Scoring" comes in. Just based on odds you have a 70% chance to form a word with 1 point tiles.

On average there are roughly 20 - 25 words that are played during a game of scrabble. This can vary depending how many smaller words you play. This in effect will also most likely be a lower scoring word.

Lets take the example of 25 words. If you were to use an average of 2 letter words during your game, with each tile consisting 1 point you would have an average score of 50 points. We are not taking double and triple letter and words scores here, just the raw numbers.

Now lets take larger words with an average of 5 points. In order to reach 50 points you would have to play ten words to match the 50 points. Seems easy enough, but remember that only 30% of those words that contain a score like that can be played. So you have a 30% chance to score 50 points. If you take the 2 letter words, you have a 70 percent chance to make 50 points. Which one seems the most likely road?

Now of those 2 letter words how many variation are there? There are a total of 92 variations of words you can play. Most of these contain vowels, which also happen to be all 1 point tiles. When making words you have a better chance to be able to line up a word horizontally to another word and form several 2 letter words vertically. This may seem hard, but that is where a good cheat tool comes into play. The one we have on our site allows you to lock letters into their position. This can allow you so filter your results to find more 2 letter words vertically that can match up when you play a word horizontally. In the following image we show how this is done.

There are many great opportunities you can take to play lower scoring words (2 letter words and 3 letter words) than there are high scoring words. The odds alone prove this to be true. We have found that on average you can improve your score by 75 - 80 per game. Try it!

Have you heard of Leap Motion yet? If you haven't get ready to hold on to your hats. This thing is going to chance the future. Its like Mission Impossible waving hands in front of screens is coming true.

This device is a full 3d interactive device that puts the wii and xbox to shame. Its fast, very responsive and I can't wait to get my hands on one. I was discussing on some forums about the nui interface and I can't wait till it comes out. Here is a video showing you more about it

Why cheating at scrabble has risen to an all time high

Remember the good ol days when people didn't use the internet to help them make words for scrabble and other word games like words with friends. Well those days are long gone. In my previous post I talked about the rise in searches for scrabble type keywords like "Scrabble Cheat". This search has risen to 2 million in the last year alone. Its obvious when looking at the rise that it coincides with the infamous release of Words with friends on May 4th 2011. We have Zynga to thank for that. Anyways... people love to cheat and it shows, but is it really cheating? Most people would argue yes, but many others say its just "assistance".

If you are one who is against cheating at word games then let me tell you that you have your work cut out for you. You better sharpen your skills because now days there is no way to tell if the person you are playing is cheating. Unless of course you are sitting right in front of them.

I have come up with some ideas and methods you can use before you start a game of scrabble or WWF to help lower the risk of cheating.

Explain before you start the game that there is no use of word finders allowed.
If you suspect someone is cheating you can simply let them know that you would like them to stop.

In anyway getting around a cheater is going to take skill on your part. Remember those who are cheating are not going to take the time to learn strategy, they are just going to go for the highest scoring words they can find to win, but there are things you can do that they will not which can help you get ahead.

Use as many 2 and 3 letter words as you can, you would be suprised how much they count towards your score at the end.
Try to always place your tiles so your opponent cannot place words in the special scoring boxes (2L and 3W)
Save your vowels for that perfect moment when you can slam the big words on them and get some seriously major points.

IMO don't worry if someone is cheating, taking the right steps in learning the strategies will help you win every time.

Why scrabble will see its highest search volume in 2012

One this is for sure, we here at Free Scrabble Dictionary know scrabble. With knowing scrabble we also know what our users want and the quality of it. Besides creating a site for users who can find many resources for scrabble there is one thing we also like to do. We like to predict the scrabble market on the internet. With the release of words with friends back in May 4th 2011 there has been an huge growth that has steadily climbed. Some of this contribution is due to the iPhone itself. As more people get iPhones one of the first apps they get is words with friends. Based on the graph below you can see the trend in search of scrabble on the net.

The keyword "scrabble cheat" is the top keyword search related to scrabble. The reason is that users want to find an anagram solver that will help them find words they can make for scrabble or words with friends.

You can see since the release of words with friends the growth has not stopped. Yes there is a drop after the holidays but scrabble related searches always have a spike in the holidays. This is due to

The holidays people get together more
After the holidays life gets busy and people can play as much
The holidays contribute to new users getting smart phones and installing words with friends

The reason why there is going to be the highest search volume in the next few years is simply based on the trend you see above. With a base starting at around 2 million seaches for "scrabble cheat" right now the growth for the holidays is going to boom. If you thought words with friends and scrabble were popular now, wait for the holidays.

INversionGAMES - The New Word Game Word Wars I.II.III

In my search for new word games which I try and stay in touch with I came across this new one which I thought it was interesting. It's called "INversionGAMES" which is similar to a scrabble game but tiles can be turned in a 360 direction to form other letters in order to form the words. It gives you way more possibilities to make words and score higher points. Here is a quick video tutorial that shows you how to play and explains the game.

Very interesting way to play a word game, just like scrabble I am sure this game is going to get huge. Of course here at Free Scrabble Dictionary we are always trying to bring you the latest tools to help you with word games so we have already created a new word finder you can use with this game. If you like to cheat at scrabble then you will love to cheat with INversionGAMES

Yup more changes, we have noticed that our word finder is more popular than our scrabble dictionary look up. Not by much but people do tend to use it more so we decided to place the word finder on our homepage as well as on our scrabble cheat page. Essentially they are the same thing, but this way you don't have to go to far to get it :) Hope you like it and please give us advice how we can make our site better. We welcome comments and suggestions.

Mobile Update Features

We have added a few new features to our mobile site, if you are not paying attention you might miss it so we are here to tell you :)

We added the ability to search multiple dictionaries with our mobile site including

TWL
SOWPODS
Enable - words with friends
Drawsomething
French
German
Spanish

We felt this was a feature to add which will give you the ability to search specific dictionaries depending on your game. No matter what word finder you are on you will always have a ability to search any dictionary you want. Depending on what page you are on will result in defaulting to that specific dictionary.

For instance: If you click on "Words with friends cheat" you will default to ENABLE dictionary which is used with words with friends, but from there you have the ability to search any dictionary you want.

New Updates to Free Scrabble Dictionary

We have added some more features to our site to create a better user experience. Some of the feature changes include:

Moved the dictionary search bar on the top of all the pages to make it easier to search for definitions and since we are all about being a scrabble dictionary we thought that would help you better.
We have cleaned up our home page and scrabble cheat page as well as added more word finders in several versions and languages like (TWL06, SOWPODS, French, German and Spanish)
We have created a new anagram solver widget to our site where you can easily add this same anagram solver to your existing website. Its clean, small and very fast with results on average in half a second.

New Additions to our dictionaries

As you can tell we are making some changes to our site. We have been getting input from users and we are trying to make the best user experience for you guys. Here are a list of some things we have done and still working on

Added the ability to search multiple word lists and verification to whether the searched word belongs in the lists
Added a French, German, Italian and Spanish Dictionary and anagram solver
We are beginning to combine our dictionary results and anagram results into one page. So you will see definitions and anagrams for the word. Don't worry if the word does not exist, it will still result in a anagram result.

Just wanted to keep you guys updated on the changes, check back soon for more info.

Hello All

We have just launched our blog so we can better inform you of upcoming changes we are making to our site as well and giving you guys the chance to get to know us a little better.

We recently revamped our word lists and dictionary to better serve you. We now compare results with both the official TWL06 and SOWPODS word lists. When searching for a word we will show you if the word you are searching for us located in either word list.

We also have added a a feature for when you search for a word, we return the amount of points the base word is worth. That can help you know exactly how many possible points you can make.

Some upcoming changes:

We are going to be launching a scrabble board simulator which will give you a birds eye view on your game and allow you to input the current tiles on the board as well what is in your rack. Based on that it can determine exactly what the next best move will be to get the most points. Be sure to check back everyday.
