They came uttering the name of God is a voice that sounded like the buzzing of flies. The peasants prayed to God to make the scorpion immobile. They held candles and lanterns in their hands. Their own big shadows falling on the walls were looking like big scorpion. They were looking for the devilish scorpion but were unable to find to it. They clicked their tongues to express their sympathy for the sufferer. The peasants had a superstitious belief that if the scorpion made any move, the poison in the mother's block would too, go upwards.

Verbal consolation : The poet says that the peasants gave all the sorts of verbal consolations but they did not apply any medicine on the mother's toe like great philosophers, they. Spoke of god, evil and suffering etc. They wished that the mother's pain was due to the sins of her previous life and those sins would be burned away that right. Moreover the physical suffering inherit next birth. They prayed to god to reduce the amount of evil in the world.

Satisfaction of peasants : The peasants were sitting passively in a circle around the mother. They felt satisfied because they thought that they had performed their duties. They had on expression of peace and wisdom on their faces.

Treatment by poet's father : The poet's has described has father as a sensible person because he had no faith in prayers and superstitious. He tried all sorts of cures, powders and lotions on the bitten toe of the mother, who was groaning restlessly with pain on a mat. At lost he poured same kerosene oil on that spot and put a match to it. The poet watched it helplessly. After twenty hours the mother got some relief. She was really a great mother because she did not curse the scorpion she thanked god that it had not stung her children.

Systematic approach

Brutus assures Cassius that he would do anything for the sake of his country. After the assurance now he openly challenges and speaks ill of Julius Caesar.

Cassius appeals to the family pride of Brutus and says that he is as great as Caesar. He also appeals to V’s sense of patriotism. He sees no difference between the names and sounds of Brutus and Caesar. At last, Cassius remarked that he cannot understand why Brutus should remain indifferent. He too does not understand the fact why he let tyranny flourish in Rome.

Appeal of citizen

At the last step, Cassius forges and said that several citizens of Rome had sent him letters remarking about the ambition of Julius Caesar. He adds that Roman citizens have requested Brutus to rise and free Rome from the tyranny of Caesar. In this way by flattery, appeal to patriotism, and republican spirit of his ancestors, Cassius is succeeded to win over Brutus to his side against Julius Caesar.

Assassination of Caesar

Brutus, Cassius, and other conspirators kill the hero. They try to disgrace Caesar. They remark that Caesar was too much ambitious and would become a tyrant. He would deny the people their legitimate liberties. The conspirators succeed in swaying the masses against him after his murder. The fact reveals that in spite of Caesar’s greatness, he is not in the heart of the Roman citizen. As they acclaim the conspirators as champions and heroes. It shows Julius Caesar was not so powerful when he was alive.

Re-honor of the benevolent king

Marks Antony, the friend of Julius Caesar begins the process of revenge. With the help of his speech, he regains the favor of the Roman people. Within a few days, the conspirators are destabilized and demolished. Resultantly the people re-honored the dead king.

A powerful symbol

The dead Julius Caesar is a powerful symbol while the living Caesar had only stood for himself, whose ambition was the crown, but he failed to get it.

Julius Caesar becomes a symbol of the force of a principle after his death. The force of imperialism rallied around his memory. His name unites the masses against the conspirator. The conspirators are made to realize before their death that they have done a crime by murdering the benevolent king.

The poet has tried to make him as well as we understand that in the absence of moral values and behaviour people in the modern era have become selfish. They are no longer in a mood to show respect, honour and affection.

Justified title

The poet remembers that in the past, people used to show happiness from the core of their hearts on meeting someone. But now day’s people think that the arrival of a guest creates a big problem. So they want riddance at the earliest possible. Artificiality has taken the place of reality. Socially acceptable traditions have no place in society. He remarks that there was a time when people felt real joy in meeting their friends and relatives. Their behaviour was so genuine and full of warm affection. But now day’s people shake hands with their rights, while their left hands search their friend’s pocket to gain. In the poem, the poet has contrasted the past with the present, so the title is justified and appropriate.
