His name is Gus and he is 13 feet long. He lives in the parlor of the LDS Deseret Ranch just outside of Orlando. For years he lived in the orange groves and was kind of a "pet." He got old and grumpy and way too aggressive so he ended up here. I could just imagine him at storytime. </div><br />

He became involved in an argument over which was the fastest game bird in Europe, then later realized it was impossible to confirm in reference books. He then thought that a book supplying answers to such questions could be popular. </div><br />

The first 197-page edition of the "Guinness Book of Records" was bound on Aug. 27, 1955, and went on to the top of the British best-seller list by Christmas. Over 400 million copies have sold since. The first Faberge` Egg was crafted and delivered in 1885 to the then-Tsar of Russia, Alexander III. The tsarina and tsar enjoyed the egg so much that Alexander III ordered a new Faberge` egg for his wife each Easter.<br />

</div><div style="text-align: left;">This is the first in a series of fifty-two jeweled eggs made for the Russian Imperial family. The egg is made of gold, completely coated with opaque white enamel to look like a real egg shell. A thin band of gold where the two halves of the shell are joined is visible around the middle of the egg. It is 2 1/2 in. in length and 1 3/8 in. in width. The two halves of the outer shell fit together in a bayonet-style fitting which opens when twisted to reveal the surprise... a gold yolk with a matte finish, containing a varicolored gold hen with ruby eyes. </div><br />
The hen is hinged on the tail feathers which allows it to also open up to reveal two additional surprises which are now missing. The first of these was a gold and diamond replica of the imperial crown. Suspended within the crown as the final surprise was a tiny ruby pendant. A necklace chain was included so the Tsarina could wear the pendant.<br />
<br />
The egg is currently located in Russia as part of the Vekselberg Collection.<br />
<br />
42 eggs out of 50 have survived, all made of precious metals or hard stones decorated with combination of enamel and gem stones.<br />

1. Start with a 4″ square of paper.<br />

2. Fold in half diagonally.<br />

3. Fold in half diagonally again.<br />

4. And one more time.<br />

5. Cut into a petal shape and snip a hole in the tip. Open to reveal the petals.<br />
<br />
6. Now cut the center circle to 2 1/2″.<br />
<br />
7. Cut this circle in half.<br />
<br />
8. With the glue stick, apply glue to one side of an edge.<br />
<br />
9. Shape the half-circle into a cone.<br />
<br />
10. Fold down one end of the pipe cleaner.<br />
<br />
11. Apply some glue to the center of the flower.<br />
<br />
12. Assemble by putting the cone into the flower opening, then putting the pipe cleaner through this hole, securing with the pipe cleaner.<br />

</div>Welcome spring by making a bird’s nest with your kids. This simple project can be made with recycled paper bags for a natural look or you could try colored pastel paper for an Easter decoration. The kids will love working with the shredded bags and glue to make a grand mess.<br />

Shredded paper bags (about one per nest)<br />
<br />
Clear school glue<br />
<br />
Plastic wrap<br />
<br />
Bowl for the nest mold<br />
<br />
Bowl for glue mixture<br />
<br />
Tarp or outside surface for getting messy<br />

1. Gather your materials and cover the bowl with plastic wrap.<br />

2. Mix the glue with equal parts water.<br />
<br />
3. Dip the shredded paper bags into the glue mixture and pat them onto the bowl mold, completely covering it. Then add some dry shredded paper on top to make it have the messy nest look.<br />
<br />
4. Allow to dry for 24-48 hours.<br />
