Here is the latest announcement from Send Out Cards – a brand new product called video cards! This exciting new innovation will help you stay in touch and express yourself in a unique and special way!

This new type of greeting card utilizes video, web 2.0, along with smartphone technology and traditional greeting cards as a unique way to impact lives.

This fantastic new product lets you add a distinctly personal touch to your card using video! Add life to your card by sending a personalized video made just for the recipient along with a sincere message and your card will be unforgettable.

“Greeting cards are about celebrating life! The Video Card not only meets this purpose, it sets a new standard for printed greeting cards by bringing them to life,” said Kody Bateman, SendOutCards’ Founder and CEO. “Our unique online system allows you to create and send physical greeting cards without ever leaving your house. These new Video Cards use QR Codes, which are an interactive code that when scanned by a QR Reader pulls up a video created just for the recipient. A QR Reader application on a smartphone is used to scan the QR code. Their browser then launches and takes them to a video the card sender has created and uploaded to the Internet. The Video Card also displays a web URL along with the QR Codes that can be quickly typed into any browser to find the video online.

The most valuable skill you can develop for a Send Out Cards business, or any MLM business, is networking. I know this point seems pretty obvious – given that this is “network marketing” – but let’s look at it in a new light.

On a recent team call, one of our leaders said “I don’t know of a faster way to sponsor a town or city than to network with people.”

It makes sense. This is what it’s all about.

Here is another illustration from the same call.

Imagine how a forest fire grows. It usually starts with a lightning strike or a careless camper. From there it begins to burn until it gets out of control. Once it’s out of control, it’s very difficult to stop. Embers from the forest fire spark off and blow across the freeway to start more fires. One fire can turn to many. In fact the HOTTER the fire is where it started that faster it grows. WIND also plays a role!

Consider how things work in nature. How did a forest become a forest? It really started with a seed. Each tree is connected to the others at some level.

Networks are all around, everywhere you look. Creating and working through networks is the secret to success in business. Isn’t this how Facebook started and grew so large so quickly?

What can we learn from all of this?

Let’s say I’m standing in the middle of a big city.  I’m wondering how can I quickly expose this entire city to our opportunity. It will start with one or two people. I will work with those one or two to create a small team and the beginning of a much larger network. From there we can begin to make connections into the networks of other people. The fact is, everyone is connected to others and by finding the most influential people in each group, WE can begin to build a fire that will spread across the entire city!

Networking is without doubt the most valuable skill you can develop for building a big team in your network marketing business and spreading the word rapidly all over.

How can you quickly develop the your networking skills? Reading about it and studying how others do it is great, but the biggest thing is – just jump in and do it. Learning by doing applies here. You are who you are. Be genuine, build relationships, network, and watch your network marketing business and your income grow!

A major key to success in a network marketing business like Send Out Cards is not only creating your own personal blog to promote you and your business, but also getting that blog found when people search Google looking for home business opportunities.

The Internet is full of home business blogs that can hardly be found, if at all, in a Google search. Why does this happen? Why do some blogs naturally seem to rank well in searches while others go nowhere?

There are many factors, but let’s talk about two things that are right on top of the list. Two things you must do in order to be found when people are searching for sites like yours:

Create and Post Quality Content

You must create quality content that is fresh (not copied or poorly rehashed from someone else’s work). The search engines are getting smarter all the time, and simply copying content from other people or from PLR (private label rights) content doesn’t work well anymore.

What you CAN do, though, is use other people’s content when you get stuck for ideas, you just need to use it for inspiration and write something in your own words. If I draw a blank for an idea to blog about, I might visit ezinearticles.com or a good network marketing site and find a post or article that I enjoy. Then, I can take an idea from that and create a unique post in my own words.

Inbound Links Are a Must

You must have some links on other websites and blogs that point back to your blog. It isn’t always easy to get other people to link back to you like this. However, links you place yourself DO count toward helping your blog rank higher in searches.

Most forums and social media sites allow you to put live links in your profile, as well as in messages you post. Take advantage of this and create a link back to your blog every chance you get. This will help your blog get indexed over time, and show up in searches related to the content you are posting.

Another thing you can do is leave comments on other peoples’ blogs. The key is being genuine and sincere. If you see a post you really like, make an intelligent comment and add value to the post or discussion. An added bonus is that many people will click your link and visit your blog when they see your comments.

Once you’ve established your blog, it does take some time to build trust with the search engines. With all the new blogs that are published every day (many of them junk and strictly for spamming purposes), Google and other engines do tend to wait a while before trusting a new site. It takes time, and a little bit of SEO (search engine optimization) but the rewards are significant.

I’ve had some very interesting feedback from sending out cards and gifts over the last couple of months. This business is all about connecting with people, building relationships, and bringing joy and happiness into the lives of others. Send Out Cards founder Kody Bateman often talks about the power of “acting on a prompting”.

Anyway, one recent experience showed me just how powerful all this can be. I was sitting at my computer one evening sending out a few cards to different people. One of them is a successful online networker and entrepreneur who is very active in social media.

When I first started my own journey into social media (Facebook and others), I downloaded a free report she was offering, which was all about effectively using social media for networking. The concepts she taught were very helpful, and helped me get off to a great start.

I decided to send her a card that evening, just to say “thanks” for offering that report and to tell her how it had inspired me. At the time, I had just finished reading a book called “Beach Money” by Jordan Adler, who is the top income earner in Send Out Cards. I had found the book to be very well written and just downright good. So, acting on a prompting, I decided to include the book as a gift with my card. I hit “SEND” and went on to other things.

A couple of days ago, I got an email from this lady thanking me for the book, as well as relating a very interesting story. It just happens that she is familiar with Jordan, and had been looking for a copy of that book. She said she is a great believer in “attracting what we expect”, and she had been expecting to find it soon.

So, somehow, at this same time I had the idea of sending it to her. However this happened (and I also believe we attract what we expect), just a few minutes behind my computer from home has created three good things.

• I have made someone’s day with my gift

• My day was made as well when I received that email

• I have established a new friendship

This is what it’s about, folks. Build relationships and give to others, and your ultimate success in business will be assured.

Jordan Adler, in his book Beach Money, calls it “Rolodex Marketing”. Quoting from Chapter 14:

Your success will be largely determined by:

1) the number of contacts in your contact manager

2) the quality of your relationships with the people in your contact manager

This also inspires loyalty, because most people sincerely appreciate someone doing a little extra and showing them that they think they are important. Because we live in an electronic, high-tech world, many marketers have gone to electronic communication exclusively. This is why a real,  physical card that is personalized can be a real hit.

I don’t know about you, but electronic greeting cards that you send online might be cute and animated, but they really don’t mean that much to me. In addition, I never open one unless I know the sender and they have told me directly that they sent it. There are just too many viruses going around on the Internet, and many people just don’t feel safe opening electronic cards.

Send out cards – real cards that people can hold in their hand and appreciate!

Here are a couple of ways you can show appreciation and make a difference in your business.

When someone on your downline team reachs a new promotion level, send them a card to congratulate them. Customize it with a photo of them if you have it, or special graphics to show that the card was meant just for them. A phone call offering congratulations is always good, but a custom card will stick around and be long remembered.

When you meet a good prospect that seems interested in working with you, but is not quite ready to join your business, send a card every month or two. Include news about your opportunity along with a personal note. It can work wonders. You’d be amazed how things develop when people see that you’re real and sincere.

It is amazing how quickly technology has changed the world of network marketing and MLM in the last 20 years. I’ve seen many changes during this time, as I had the privilege of being part of what I would call the “first wave” of online MLM and network marketing.

Back in 1990, there was no World Wide Web or Internet as we know it now. I had a top of the line Apple IIe computer with 128K of RAM and a 300 baud modem. For non-techies, that is very little memory and an extremely slow connection by modern broadband standards. But it worked and served a purpose.

We had four major online services at that time – CompuServe,  America Online, GEnie, and Prodigy. These were text based. There were no pretty images and slick videos like you expect today. It was text, along with graphics that were cleverly crafted from asterisks and percentage signs.

I was most active on the CompuServe “Work From Home” forum, which was hosted by Paul and Sarah Edwards (noted work from home business experts and authors of many excellent books on the subject). There were quite a few network marketers participating in that forum, and we contributed and became a part of the community. As a natural result, over time, we met people through the forum who wanted to earn extra income, and many of them became a part of our respective teams. This was just the beginning of the Internet revolution that changed the face of network marketing and MLM forever.

Classic MLM and Network Marketing

Before venturing online and checking email became a daily ritual for many of us, network marketing was pretty much done in a predictable fashion. You typically learned about an opportunity through a local friend or relative, and attended a presentation either in a hotel meeting room or someone’s home. If you chose to sign up, you became part of a local group that might meet once or twice a month for training as well as “opportunity nights” where you brought your prospects to learn more about your business.

This routine served its purpose well. It tended to create a sense of “belonging” among people in the group, and for those truly interested in building a network marketing business,  it helped them maintain focus and encouraged loyalty to the business. You really didn’t have competing opportunities in your face all the time, as the occasional recruiting postcard or newspaper ad was about all most people would run into.

Network Marketing and MLM Today

The Internet has changed network marketing and MLM forever. It will never go back to just the old ways. The basic principles of building relationships remain the same, but opportunity for reaching prospects and getting the word out with an online business is greater than ever. As a result of all this new technology, network marketers now face new challenges and must adapt – and it’s all for the good.

To be successful in online MLM and network marketing, you must:

• be open and honest about your opportunity – interested prospects can investigate your business and claims in a fashion unheard of just a few years ago

• avoid promoting your network marketing opportunity with hype and exaggerated claims – that just doesn’t get it anymore

• focus on your prospects’ needs and goals for a business, not yours – they are in control, and have many choices

The ultimate key to success in network marketing today – focus on attraction marketing and build relationships. Your prospect is a human being with emotions and needs just like yours. How they are treated and respected will go a long way toward determining who they choose to partner with in a network marketing home business.
