As we are sitting in our warm house in Colorado, a record snowfall of about 3 feet is in full form. When looking at this beautiful photo by Mike, my spirit felt peace and wonder. First of all, I was amazed that only one person was on the walk in the midst of the snow and sunshine. To some that might bring fear and to others, peace. The fog is rolling in but yet a bright light reveals the way to walk.

I am impressed with the courage, perseverance, and the willingness to venture out and make an unknown trail. Step by step, crunch by crunch, breath by breath to experience God’s country. The wonder of it all!

Some people want to stay in the warmth and comfort but at times, God is calling us out to experience a deeper touch of His heart and His creation. Thank you Mike for the awe and wonder in my heart.

So if you aren’t sure what the future might hold, trust the One who created life and beauty for us to enjoy. He is faithful to show us the way and strong enough to carry us when we are not sure of our path. If you feel stuck and not sure how to go on, please contact us.

Travel with me………As we drive down the muddy road of life, we can get focused on the pitfalls and rocks in the way. Those things might even damage the vehicle we are in. As our eyes move towards the road ahead, we begin to see the rugged sides and the dead trees. But journey with me along this path, lifting your eyes on the sun beginning to reveal its glorious brightness and warmth on the trees. Now what you see as you look up, is this beautiful snow packed diamond in the sky, called Mt. Rainier, a year-round glacier in Washington State.. The majesty and magnificence of God’s creation just for you. It takes your breath away…………………………..linger there………………………………….be still………………………..breathe it in.

Life is very hard these days and it can be easy to take our eyes off the beauty and creation that is ours to reflect on and admire. Many times our focus isn’t even the present moment but in yesterday or tomorrow. However, I have learned that living in the moment brings abundant gratitude and wonder. I was raised in Colorado and in some respects, the magnificent mountains made me feel safe and protected. Living in Washington also brought great joy and safety.

Just remember this – life is short and you can’t change yesterday and you have very little control over tomorrow. Today is the day!

Isaiah 43:18-19, “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Such hope!!!!

Wayne and I always pray and ask God what He wants us to focus on in the new year. This year, I got a picture of a really big book and heard the word of the Lord, “forget the past, turn the page and keep Me at the center every day. Leave wide margins in your day. Be careful how you fill in the margins. There is room for whatever you want to do but there is no need to fill it up. Remember, rest is a weapon.”

This simple picture was drawn by Wayne as a reminder to remember this precious word in 2021.

I then went on to read Proverbs 3:3-4 which states, “Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart so you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.” ESV

I love to look at other versions of scripture so I went to the Passion Translation as well and it reads, “Hold onto loyal love and don’t let go; and be faithful in all that you’ve been taught. Let your life be shaped by integrity with truth written upon your heart. That’s how you will find favor and understanding with both God and man – you will gain the reputation of living life well.”

I believe God wants us to seek Him every day and be focused on His plans and not ours. It’s very hard to know and understand God’s ways if we are too busy. It’s OK to rest.

Recently I received a Christmas ornament from a very dear friend of ours. He hand carved it and when I received it in the mail, my heart leaped with JOY!! I saw the rough makings of this carving a couple of months ago but now seeing the finished product confirmed a strong heart connection with my friend. You see, we’ve known this couple ever since 1994. God used them to bring healing and wholeness to Wayne and I over the years. They became our spiritual Mom and Dad! Our friendship has been one of true honor, vulnerability, love, acceptance and great JOY!!

Everyone has a sense of what JOY means personally to them. It can mean laughter, happiness in the midst of sorrow, sweet smiles, radical passion for life, new birth, dreams fulfilled – you put your specific meaning to it. The scripture in Nehemiah 8:10 states “…..do not sorrow for the JOY of the Lord is your strength.” has been very significant to me.

When I surrendered my life 12/8/94 to live a life serving God, I began to wake up every morning with JOY in my heart and with great expectations. Up to that date, I didn’t even have any reason to get up – there was so much dread in my heart. BUT NOT TODAY!! My strength (despite hard circumstances) comes from God and overrides earthly happiness. It is long lasting and so SWEET! This ornament just made me reflect on how grateful I am.
