On days where it is difficult to get out an about on a photography shoot (like today!) I often look about the house for interesting articles to capture (mostly thinking about macro photos). One thing which I have never thought to capture in a photo was the very equipment that I use in photography and always have with me, my collection of lenses. Perfect for macro photography as they are precisely and perfectly manufactured so that they are pretty much free form blemishes.

I took another trip to London yesterday to follow on from where we left off with the Millennium bridge series a couple of weeks ago. This time I concentrated on Canary Wharf as I have wanted to capture this area of London by night for a while now. It was VERY cold however I was on the shoot for about 5 hours. I have never been to Canary Wharf before and so it was literally the case of wondering around and stumbling across scenes.

There are literally thousands on photography tutorials on the internet (including mine) that explain the different elements that ultimately make up a photoshoot (resulting in your photos). I have read ALOT of them and most are very useful however, I probably only use about 25% of the stuff that I have learned from tutorials in practical every day shoots.

One of the great things about the darker winter months is that even during the day, you can achieve long exposure photographs without the need for filters. The below shots were taken using either a Canon 60mm Macro & Tamron 70-300mm lens. The are all bracketed shots ranging from1.5 to 3 second exposure.

Using slow shutter speeds is one of best known techniques for creating misty effects with water, light streaks and capturing detailed low light photos.
Took a trip to London last night for some shots of the Millennium Bridge and its surroundings. I was hoping for clear, crisp skies as like we have had for the past few nights but this wasn't to be, luckily the broken clouds did add some colour and depth to the images.
