How to design a tattoo.

Well, any tattoo can be designed, in my opinion, in a couple of simple steps.

Do a quick light sketch in pencil of the tattoo idea.
Trace over the sketch with a felt tipped or fine point marker.
Erase the pencil lines on the tattoo design.

There you have it.

Sounds really simple, but if you can't draw, you may want to take drawing course, or start off with very simple designs.

Also, the meaning can be different when designed in conjunction with swords, symbolizing strength and courage.

The following was designed from tattoo flash that the client found on the internet, most likely by doing a search on google for skull tattoo upper arm tattoos. That is a good and common way to find tattoo designs and flash, but top notch tattoo flash is only found where the famous tattoo artists and parlors go.

Tattoo artists and parlors are very busy, and go through a lot of clients in the run of a week. Most do not have time to sit down and design tattoos, unless the parlor has an artist assigned to that specific task. These tend to frequent online membership galleries such as Infinite Tattoos, where the tattoo flash and designs are readily available for browsing and download.

This is one of my favorite tattoos I have done. I have done many since learning how to tattoo but this was one of my first successful ones. When you do a tattoo, and the client is happy with it, its pretty good for the ego. This satisfaction is what keeps us tattoo artists going, and challenging ourselves with more complex tattoos.

Learning to tattoo for me was a long and arduous process. If you desire to learn tattooing, it will not be easy... but I can say it is a very rewarding when you finally master the craft. I do recommend that you visit a tattoo shop and try to get an apprenticeship. In the meantime, you can learn much from tattoo videos such as Learn How To Tattoo Apprentice Videos 2011 Edition from International School of Body Arts. It is a very impressive DVD collection, and you will learn everything you need to know in this tattooing course.

Tattoos and the holiday of scares and candy go hand in hand and getting a Halloween tattoo is not an uncommon occurrence. What exactly defines a Halloween tattoo? Ghosts, witches and goblins, oh my!

Entertainment Sources for Halloween Tattoos

Horror themed television shows and spooky movies have always been able to create images of fear that make perfect candidates for Halloween tattoos. The following examples make for great Halloween tattoos:

Halloween: The classic horror movie featuring Michael Myers can derive many tattoo ideas such as butcher knives, shattered pumpkins and clown masks, with some creativity, there is no shortage of imagery.

Friday the 13th: Jason Vorhees can come back again and again as a Halloween tattoo. The hockey mask or Camp Crystal Lake sign can be grim reminders.

Phantasm: The Tall Man is a frightening image. The ball of spikes then came for your head can cause many nightmares, should you choose to select this permanent image.

Hellraiser: Cenobites, puzzle boxes and Pinhead can make very frightening images on your body that show your love for the horror genre as well as Halloween.

George Romero: George is the enigmatic maker of several of the best horror movies ever made! All of which create graphic and scary images that make the perfect Halloween tattoos! Night of the Living Dead, Day of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Land of the Dead and most recently, Diary of the Dead. The face of George Romero himself could also make a great tattoo.

There are many resources that you can use to come up with some great ideas for your Halloween tattoos. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of movies in which to gain inspiration.
