Using Plex Media Server

When we installed and lauched Plex Media Server, it asked us to specify the folders we wanted it to index and share. The program recognized our music and video titles, including their respective details like cast, cover art and rating. It can also add synopses of the titles gleaned online. We could change between generic folders containing text file names and a database showing library information and imagery without typing anything.

It is an in-browser extension that plugs into Plex website to give users access to their respective content. When we launched the server, it took us to Plex homepage where we could manage our content. We could manage our own videos or add channels to view online videos.

The server allowed us to organize our media in different ways. We could save TV shows and movies we had not completed into a special folder and keep new media files into another special folder. This made it easy for us to find the content we wanted. The Activity tab allowed us to check our past activities.

The devices you use to access your media do not need special codecs because Plex Media Server transcodes both video and audio automatically and in real time. You can use the media server on a variety of devices, including iOS, Android and Roku boxes, all of which deliver descent video and audio quality. Users add Plex to Roku as a channel that connects to their servers. We managed to stream some videos in 1080p HD. However, transcoding is a resource-hogging process that requires a dual-core system.

However, we could not find all features although it gave us access to the important ones, including Control Panel, Computer, Documents, Pictures and Music.

From its simple interface, we could easily download, install, launch and manage HTML5 apps. The search bar allowed us to access the free apps we wanted from the Pokki app store. Relevant apps started appearing as soon as we started typing.

Red Eclipse is a multi-platform, free, and open source first-person shooter that runs on top of the Cube 2 Engine. It has six different game modes: Campaign, Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Defend the Flag, Bomber and Time-Trial.

In addition to the game modes, there are twelve mutators which extend the game modes:

Teamplay – Default on CTF, DTF, and bomber-ball; splits players into Alpha(blue) and Omega(red) teams and uses bots to make it even if there is an odd number of players.
Instagib – One shot kills and rifles only unless using Ballistic or Mideval mutators.
Onslaught – Adds neutral waves of zombies to fight.
Vampire – Hurting other people increases the attacker´s health.

Arena – Have a choice of two weapons.
Expert – Only headshots deal damage.
Duel – Two people at a time; other players on a server observe and wait.

Resize – As a player´s your health decreases, so does their size.
League – Attributes of character´s size and speed are determined by their choice of weapon.
Furthermore, Red Eclipse´s game modes could have multiple mutators to extend the mode, such as having Capture the Flag with the Instagib, Teamplay, and hover mutators, which enables one-shot-one-kill styled gameplay, and players to hover.
