Seeing as how the current market is cluttered with complex media players, Media Player Classic - Home Cinema wanted to maintain a simple interface that comes with all necessary and suffice features needed to play a video.

This software doesn't need to be installed, so that means it's portable. Just place in on any removable drive and run it from there.

Using this version of Media Player Classic can be a little tricky. For example, when we tried to open a video file, the program warned us about creating the EVR Custom renderer, due to the fact that some installed components are not supported by the media player (in other words, they are "too new"). However, the application managed to play the respective video file.

In the menu section you can access File (e.g. capture an image, save image thumbnails, save and load a subtitle, or search for one in the online database), View (e.g. playlist, shader editor, language, renderer settings, video frame, pan and scan), and others.

In the Play section you can go to a particular frame (especially useful if you're planning to split and join video clips), as well as select filters and shaders, but also configure subtitles.

In Navigate you can select audio and subtitle language, title, subtitle and chapter menu, and others. Of course, this is available for DVDs and Blu-rays.

In Options you are able to select the file extensions associated with Media Player Classic - Home Cinema, integrate it in the Explorer context menu, configure hotkeys, enable or disable internal filters, and others.

The software uses a normal amount of CPU and resources.

The bottom line is that Media Player Classic - Home Cinema is a small but very powerful tool for playing video files. We strongly recommend you use it. And it's free!

System Explorer Portable is an application that lets you view useful information about programs that run on your system.

Since this is a portable product, installation is not necessary. So, you can place System Explorer Portable on a removable device and run the executable file on any computer. Also, your Windows registry entries will not be changed.

Once you initiate the program with the user-friendly interface, you can view the image name, security details, CPU, process ID, memory usage, VM size, date of discovery, as well as parameters for each process.

If you open the context menu on a particular process, you can find out additional details presented in a graph (plus modules), set priority and affinity level, get file details, explore the directory, and more.

Additionally, you can switch the tab to "Tasks" and view current running applications just as in Windows' "Task Manager", to "Performance" and view a visual representation of the security scan (e.g. processor usage, used RAM, pages faulted), or to "History" and find out the time and value for each process or event.

Furthermore, you can view information on modules, uninstallers, connections, autoruns, services, drivers, networking, Windows, WMI browser, snapshots, users, security, and others.

The program uses a very small amount of system resources and includes an online FAQ page. We haven't come across any kind of problems during our tests. Perhaps first-time users would find it a bit difficult to learn how to work with System Explorer Portable, but this tool offers complete information about the inner workings of your computer's software

· When using the full backup type, the sources will be archived using standard zip compression. FBackup uses ZIP64 compression, which means that it can create zip files over 2GB in size. Furthermore, you can protect the zip file by requiring a password for extracting data from it.

Exact copies of files:
· If you don't want to have the files stored in one zip file, FBackup can make exact copies of the backup sources. Since FBackup will also back up empty folders, you can use this backup type to create in the destination a "mirror" copy of the original files.

Run actions before/after backup:
· For each backup job you can define an action to execute before or after the backup. As an example, you can set a "Clear backup" action before the backup runs, so that all the previous backed up files will be clearead before loading the new ones. As an after-backup action, you can set it to stand by, log off, hibernate or even shut down the computer once the backup successfully finished.

Easy to use:
· The two main functions of a backup program are the backup and restore operations. FBackup makes them easy for you, by offering friendly wizards. You start a new backup wizard, select what, where, how and when to backup, and the backup is ready to run. If you have to restore files, you'll open a restore wizard and it will ask you where you want the files to be restored.

Automatic updates:
· FBackup automatically checks for updates weekly, so you'll know when a new version is released. The option to check for updates can be disabled, but we recommend to let it enabled so that FBackup will be up-to-date.

· Multiple backup destinations. By default the location where your backups will be stored is the local windows partition. To be sure you have a secure backup, you'll need to store the backups on other destinations supported by FBackup (such as an external USB/Firewire drive, or on a mapped network drive). This way, if your computer would suffer a hardware failure, you'll have your data safe on an external location.

Backup plugins:
· You can load plugins for backing up or restoring specific programs' settings or other custom data (like game saves, email data, etc.). Once loaded in FBackup, these plugins will add in the Predefined Backups list the sources needed to be backed up for that particular program.

Backup open files:
· If a file is in use by another program at the time of the backup, FBackup will still be able to back up that file, because it uses the Volume Shadow Service that Windows provides.

TreeSize is a small and useful utility that shows you how your disk space is being used and which folders use up the most space. The program can be launched from the context menu of a folder or drive and displays a tree view with the overall size of the selected folder and its subfolders. Each folder can be expanded in an Explorer-like manner to view the size of its subfolders. Scanning is done in the background, so you can already see results while TreeSize is working without having to wait. The results can be printed in a report. This version is a slimmed down, but fully functional and free version of TreeSize Pro and does not offer the graphical pie charts.
