Julian Alubaidy works for Irish wine merchants Bubble Brothers, trying
to keep customers and suppliers happy, and making sure that the wine
doesn't run out.

These various duties ensure that there's never a
shortage of material for the company's blog.

The wines of Clos Triguedina in Cahors have featured on the list since
early days, and have subsequently been joined by Malbecs from the Loire
as well as from further afield. The grape seems to suit Irish tastes,
and Bubble Brothers are delighted to encourage and develop this growing
enthusiasm.

Sour Grapes?

Laurence Veale is the author of a wine blog, www.Sourgrapes.ie and lives in Dublin, Irleand. What started as a present of a wine appreciation course and a holiday in Chianti quickly became a passion.

This serendipitous route doesn't end there, however. Another gift, this time a book, "Families of the Vine" by Michael Sanders, led him to Cahors.

Reading about the passion, hardship and stoicism of the people behind the wine led Lar to seek out the wines of Cahors from the shelves of Irish wine shops, a treasure hunt that he's happy to stay on.

Born and educated in the sedate southern counties of England, Amanda Lawrence was blessed with pioneering parents who regularly bumped her down the primitive highways and byways of continental Europe. The Quercy was always a favorite halt, slowly working its charms on her until she finally succumbed. Its now where she lives and works as a writer and journalist, overlooking the famous Cahors vineyards.

<itunes:summary>Born and educated in the sedate southern counties of England, Amanda Lawrence was blessed with pioneering parents who regularly bumped her down the primitive highways and byways of continental Europe. The Quercy was always a favorite halt, slowly working its charms on her until she finally succumbed. Its now where she lives and works as a writer and journalist, overlooking the famous Cahors vineyards.</itunes:summary>

communication for the French Wine and Vine Institute, a research center in
viticulture and enology located in the South West of France. For 3 years,
they have been studying the possibility of producing premium rose wines from
Malbec and the way to optimize the aromatic potential of this variety.
According to him, Malbec is definitely a great variety to produce some rose

Sharon Bowman writes about wine at SharonWine.Blogspot.com. She was not previously familiar with Cahors or Malbec, we were interested in her thoughts on the subject.

We spoke with her at the recent Malbec de Cahor tasting at the Tastemonde Restaurant in Paris. Just after tasting several Cahors wines, and just before lunch, we asked her for her impressions of the wines and a guess about what would be on the menu for lunch.

Two scientists give us their views about Malbec of Cahors. First, Dr. Nicolas Vivas, researcher and professor at the Universite de Bordeaux talks about terroir and its relation to wine. We then spoke to Dr. Mark Lipton, a long time wine lover and an associate professor at Purdue about his impressions of Malbec as a variety and the wines of Cahors.
