Would you immortalize your favorite pet by transforming its photo into a pillow? Yeah… it’s a tricky one. However, we decided to post this unusual project by print-maker Shannon Broder, an artist who “loves drawing and silk-screening all sorts of creatures and bring them to life by sewing and stuffing them into objects you can play with and love!” Her pillows are incredibly diverse, reproducing even small-scale dinosaurs, zebras and penguins.

Inspired by photos she receives from clients, Shannon “clones” pets by creating uncommon pillows. This is her part of work that is “custom”. In other words, if you find the cushions below tempting, you can get in contact with the designer at Broderpress and create one for yourself. Although I enjoyed looking through Shannon’s entire work portfolio, for this article I chose those postures and attitudes that really make an impression. Enjoy!

The architects decided to split the White Lodge residence in two main levels: “The glazed ground floor living space is surrounded by beautifully landscaped grounds, while the first floor appears to hover over the kitchen dining area as well as project over the swimming pool“. Sustainability was also a major factor to consider in the planning process, when an impressive target was set: to generate 20 percent of the energy required by using renewable energy sources. The objective was reached by using solar hot water collectors on the roof, an efficient drainage system and an air source heat pump.

Its appearance is truly intriguing- here we have a furniture piece that is both elegant and practical, with a design emphasizing on texture and color. Careful how you position this gem within the interior composition, as it just might draw excessive attention to itself.

Ergonomics was a major factor to consider when planning this project: “The chair’s aesthetic is purposefully architectural with a sharp rectilinear backrest contrasted with a softer seating area, breaking traditional rules of seating typology and styling.  Cradle utilizes a custom-made cut pattern that allows a non-elastic textile to perform in a three dimensional way. This allows for the correct tension to comfortably support the body“. Can you feel the tension wearing off?
