Roof Apartment in Kiev With a Genuine Feel by Vitaliy Yurov

Designer Vitaliy Yurov sent us images of a stylish roof apartment he completed in Kiev, Ukraine. According to the description he sent us, the crib is located on the last floor of the multi-storey building. It consists of the following areas: kitchen, dining room, bedroom, bathroom and terrace. Natural material finishes such as stone, concrete, wood and glass ensure a genuine feel. Panoramic windows symbolize freedom and dreaminess. Nothing superfluous, yet maximum comfort and functionality: “Balance of cold trimming and warm light – the main thing I wanted to incarnate in this design project“.

Tall walls, large windows and elegant furniture give away the impression that each interior is more imposing than the next. We love how the sober feel is slightly weakened by an inspiring use of color and decorating elements. Extravagant Country Living: White Lodge Residence in England

Strikingly modern, the White Lodge residence developed by Dyer Grimes Architects in Tandridge, England combines luxurious country living with modern functionality. Originally home to a 1960’s detached bungalow surrounded by tall trees, the site was reinterpreted as to host this imposing 480sqm home. From afar, you can observe the hardwood cladding and white render with an abundance of glass throughout.

The architects decided to split the White Lodge residence in two main levels: “The glazed ground floor living space is surrounded by beautifully landscaped grounds, while the first floor appears to hover over the kitchen dining area as well as project over the swimming pool“. Sustainability was also a major factor to consider in the planning process, when an impressive target was set: to generate 20 percent of the energy required by using renewable energy sources. The objective was reached by using solar hot water collectors on the roof, an efficient drainage system and an air source heat pump.

Surprising Hammock-Chair Fusion by Benjamin Hubert: Cradle

By combining the functionality of a casual backless chair with the comfort provided by a hammock, British designer Benjamin Hubert came up with “Cradle”, a captivating seating unit (initially spotted by Freshome on beautiful life). Its appearance is truly intriguing- here we have a furniture piece that is both elegant and practical, with a design emphasizing on texture and color. Careful how you position this gem within the interior composition, as it just might draw excessive attention to itself.

Ergonomics was a major factor to consider when planning this project: “The chair’s aesthetic is purposefully architectural with a sharp rectilinear backrest contrasted with a softer seating area, breaking traditional rules of seating typology and styling. Cradle utilizes a custom-made cut pattern that allows a non-elastic textile to perform in a three dimensional way. This allows for the correct tension to comfortably support the body“. Spacious And Bright Contemporary Home in Seattle Designed For a Young Family

Bright and inspiring, the Aurea Residence, designed by Chris Pardo Design: Elemental Architecture in Magnolia, one of Seattle’s neighbourhoods, USA, spreads over 3,300 square meters. This contemporary house is divided in four different structures. Each of these structures offers zen relaxing views over the Japanese rock garden, perceived as an internal courtyard, a private centre that floods all the four living spaces with light.

The house is well organised on three levels, with the ground floor accommodating the master bedroom with separate bathrooms and a garage, where can be deposited two cars, the second floor housing two (guest) bedrooms and an airy living room with an open roof deck, really inspirational and fun, for social gatherings or family reunions. The third floor recreates a small universe for the kids. The house offers a large amount of privacy, without obstructing the sunlight during daytime. The upper floors favour stunning views over the site creating a calm atmosphere. That’s exactly what one needs, after a hard day at work.
