Please add my vote to enhance both the invoices and invoice emails/reminders. In particular, add ::project name:: and ::client name:: as fields we can add to various emails. Would be nice to also have ::date issued::, ::date due::, ::days late::.

Also, within email reminders, I'd like to be able to send a reminder before the invoice is due - so being able to select X days before the invoice is due or at least being able to enter negative numbers in the "days" box.

Also cast my vote for being able to set/select invoice terms - e.g., Net 10, Net 15, Net 30 (and not just the Terms text field) and have the calculate due date appear on the invoice.

Many thanks!

Tim

mig2000,

IAC-EZ is designed to be easy. IAC-EZ is a transactional based bookkeeping system that alleviates the needs for debits/credits and double lined entry. It was created to suit the needs of the billions of freelancers and independent contractors out there that track there bookkeeping with receipts, because they dislike or get confused by complicated bookkeeping systems.

We offer the ability to generate a profit and loss statement, keep track of your income and expenses, and estimate your taxes.

IAC-EZ will not track equity, asset and liability accounts as a double entry accounting system would. We do provide the ability to enter transactions as they relate to assets and liabilities so that you can keep track of outgoing and incoming entries, but we don't keep running totals, track equity or generate balance sheets. We also do not currently have a bank reconciliation option because we are not an "account" based system.

While we are currently planning an account based version, at this time, we were designed for transactional based tracking only. We do welcome any suggestions, or additional votes on our features page http://features.iacez.com

Clarity accounting is a good system, and some people do prefer it over the transactional based bookkeeping. The two systems are just not the same.

IAC-EZ does offer a free 14 day trial for anyone who wishes to try it.

Hope that helps some!
Penny

I hate to be the jerk here, but there is no list that will stop people from resubmitting to the forum. Anything that requires users to search before submitting will have duplicates all over the place.

I think the current system works well. First, somebody from FreshBooks *always* responds saying they've heard the message and are passing it on. Secondly, I've seen feature requests implemented on many occasions, so they actually *are* listening. Lastly, put yourself in FreshBook's shoes and you'll probably see why going public with the priority or implementation dates of feature requests is a dangerous idea; basically, it corners them and removes flexibility. Frankly, as a customer, I'd rather that not happen.

Fan boy, out.  :)
-Eric

Oops! Looks like there's a bug in the "project.create" handler. Thanks for finding this for us.

As a workaround, you can do this in two requests: "project.create" with no tasks to create the project, then "project.update" to assign tasks to the new project. I ran through it with task 9:

Code:

<request method="project.create">

    <description>were they she all but him this from</description>
  </project>
</request>

The server sent back

Code:

<response xmlns="http://www.freshbooks.com/api/" status="ok">
  <project_id>4</project_id>
</response>

Then I added task 9:

Code:

<request method="project.update">
  <project>
    <project_id>4</project_id>

    <tasks>
      <task_id>9</task_id>
    </tasks>
  </project>
</request>

We'll fix the bug with "project.create", but that should get you going for now.

Cheers,

Need help? Have questions? &raquo; Is Freshbooks suitable to an IT support company?

Posted by: Fresh Kasey

Short answer – yes :D

FreshBooks can work really well for companies like yours, for a few reasons:

Time Tracking! Your tech can track their time, even on-site, through your FreshBooks account, time tracker widget, or even through your cell phone! You can then easily translate that time into line items on an invoice, where you can then add on new parts on any other items or costs you’d like to bill your clients for. We even have a support ticket feature, where your clients are able to create support tickets, and you can invoice right in FreshBooks!

To answer your second question, you do need to have projects and tasks for each client, but there’s a couple of good reasons for that. It helps with reporting, finding out what your company has been working on, as well as drill down to more individual data on particular clients or employees (to see where their time is going). Even better – you have options! You can make a lot of projects and tasks for one client, or just a single project and task for each client – its up to you and how you run your business. The projects and tasks help give detailed info to your clients (so they know what you’re billing them for!), and help making invoicing with FreshBooks super easy!

I definitely want to help you get up-to-date on your billing, that’s how you get paid!! Give me a shout anytime (at the number on the top of the screen – 1-866-303-6061), and I can help make sure you’re set up just right – so that your invoicing is easy, and so you can concentrate on what you do best : )

Hey Pic,

believe it or not, we actually have a an internal system that we use at the office to keep track of votes for feature requests as well as this forum. We are not, at least to my knowledge, going to be implementing a public system to keep track of votes.
Just a quick update on my project. It's been up and running for about two months now (today is July 16, 2009), and it's working flawlessly.

I built an ASP.NET Web site provisioning application for my Web Hosting signup application. When a customer comes to sign up for hosting with my company, they simply fill out the form and submit it. Their data is stored in a database and I'm notified of a new sign up.

Then I log into my custom Admin site, I can view the new order and then click a single button that will fully provision the site and account for the customer. It does the following:

1) Creates the web site account, web server settings, etc.

2) Processes the payment with my payment provider

3) Processes the billing with Freshbooks (creates Client, Recurring and Invoice and sends email of invoice to client using the .Net app by Ronald Roberts and allmhuran)

4) Processes Domain registration with my domain registrar

5) Sends email to customer of completed account setup

I wanted to thank Freshbooks for making the API and Ronald Roberts and allmhuran for making a great .Net wrapper to use. It's made my life extremely easy.

On another note, a client of mine wants me to connect his existing application to the QuickBooks online API. Wow, what a monster! No elegance to it like the FB API. :^)

Hello, I run an IT service company where we provide onsite and remote services to different companies and their computers and networks. I love the idea of freshbooks but I cannot see how I can implement it into my company.

The way our business works is: we receive a call from a client describing a computer or network problem, we then dispatch a technician and do the work onsite or remotely and then bill them at a future date for labor time and new parts used, if any.

When we bill it is per how many hours was spent on the problem and add cost of any new hardware installed.
It goes something like this:
2x labor hours - $100
Labor performed:
'tech arrived and found corruption in email database, a scan fixed the problem and we added RAM to server for speed'
2x 1GB RAM Modules - $100

The way freshbooks is set up, i have to have projects and tasks created ahead of time just so my techs can submit their time and notes of what they did onsite. This seems like its sooo much unnecessary work.

I am so behind in my billing and this seems like a great product but I dont see how it fits into my company. Please help me formulate a way to use this product so its easy for my guys to submit their time and I can bill my clients.
Thank You!
