Frexy turns 5 years old today

Wow, what should we say now? It’s been 5 years now. That’s right. Frexy turns 5 years. We can’t believe it!

It’s been amazing and fantastic 5 years of our coming into the world of cyberspace – the world of web designers, the world of web branding and publication, the world of web developers, and the world of icon design.

As Frexy reaches its fifth birthday, let’s take a glance at how Frexy has turned so far. Back in the day when there were these two Vietnamese brothers, who were very young hearts, indulging in arts, design and the interweb. Once these two fields met each other in terms of coding and pixel-pushing, plus several previous years of experience in messing with web design and related stuffs, the birth of Frexy was a sure thing. And that’s August 25, 2005. That’s the day when Frexy was born. But their passion for crafting beautiful websites and things kept growing stronger. Each and every of the stuffs they designed was a piece of success, freshness and happiness. And with that, the business was also going along well, more new services started to come out years after years. Then one day, they decided, “Alright, we need more manpower and we need it now!”, and three people were invited to join Frexy.

That is Frexy now, at the age of 5. Wow, what a wonderful ride in those wonderful years. All those years, though not much of a period, have been more fruitful than we expected – We have had a fruitful business; we have had a fruitful collaboration and relationship with many people.

Today, on the Frexy’s 5th birthday, we wish to express our enormous thanks to those who are our heart clients and partners, our dear relatives and friends. Thank you so very much for everything you wonderfully did to us and Frexy over these five years. We pledge to remain all we had and keep pushing ourselves up in the years to come.

These days are the happy days to see Frexy being 5 years old. With your wishes, we hope Frexy be going live for a long time.

Happy birthday to Frexy!

Frexy team.

Spot the differences? Yes, we realigned!

How fast time flies! Our Frexy’s last redesign has been going up for 3 years now and with time, it kinda got going “down” in terms of both design and content. Client works ate most of our time; we have been busy with IconEden’s business and various internal projects. No more excuses, we loved working for ourselves and it’s time to make a face lifting and make the site catch up with the present day and truly express the pleasant circumstance we are in now.

Why realigned?

Let’s talk a little bit about the design. To be honest, we still love the design of the previous version, which we want the new design to be consistent with. As you may see, it seems there’s no any noticeable change in it, apart from the content. But it has, yes it does. We paid a lot of attention to the details: grid, typography, color scheme. But above all, the most significant twist we did for it was in the pixels. Yes, we realigned and that’s what it’s all about.

So, why was it, if you might ask? Well, the word that’s always come through our mind at the first stage is ‘redesign”, as Cameron Moll said “Good designers redesign, great designers realign”, so the simple and proper answer for you is this is because we want to keep our branding and identity. We believe, and so do you, that our last design has already been solid and remained our love for it. Therefore, instead of anew doing a redesign, we only did a few changes to the typography, the grid, the color,… and in doing so, the design would be able to both convey a fresh air and keep the identity.

Having said that we didn’t change our mind for a little while until we got a valuable e-mail from Paul saying

“I had no idea Frexy was behind IconEden and it explains why it is so beautiful. I remember Frexy from back in the days as well with its colorful design.”

Paul Scrivens, Drawar

The course of our realign

As you might know, we’re our own worse clients. We created around 20 designs with 5 different concepts and sent them to our friends from whom we received lots of great feedback. That helped us come up with some twists and we revised. But the process was like, again and again. It seemed we’re on the train bound for nowhere. After a few months of weary choices, we thought we could nail down with a concept, of which the design was actually sliced and diced in HTML & CSS and ready for implementation.

Few weeks later, we started to have a feel of love and hate for it at the same time. While this design looked very trendy and shiny, it neither reflected our working ethic nor set the right mood. Eventually, it helped sharpen the direction and we came up with another version, and it’s what you see now.

Frexy.com is powered by Drupal

During the last few years, we’ve worked on many cool Drupal projects. Drupal love is growing in us and it has become our CMS of choice. So, choosing Drupal for Frexy’s website was no-brainer.

What about MinTran’s blog?

Min’s personal blog is collecting dust. The blog needs a fresh design to update it more frequently. Min is still working on the design of a brand new personal blog/lifestream. Besides, any of its posts will also be immigrated to Frexy’s blog.

Lastly, we know some nasty bugs are still available there and we're looking for a way to play around to fix them, meanwhile continue to improve the overall design. If you encounter with any while browsing, please be kind to inform us on the comment field. We thank you and appreciate that.

IconEden

Created by ourselves — Frexy — in 2008 as a side project, IconEden rapidly grows and becomes one of the most well-known icon design studios. In two years, IconEden was made into two major redesigns. As our icon collection is getting bigger and bigger, it's necessary to expand the stock and revamp it as well. We also needed a new blog and had to improve the usability of the whole website.

That led us to the major redesign for the site. The redesign was very well acknowledged. IconEden site has also been featured on numerous design galleries and magazines. The flatform on which the site was built is our own top custom e-Commerce one.
Service provided

Sorry for being quiet for a long time. During the last few months, we've worked hard on the redesign of IconEden. Why redesign? You might ask. Frexy, the premier design studio behind IconEden, is really serious about design. In our dictionary, redesign means solving existing problems. We always bend over backwards to give our visitors a better online experience. Our goal is to wrap the site with a beautiful look, making IconEden.com more product-centric and improving its usability. In a nutshell, our design should essentially reflect our fast growth!

So, to make it up to you, here're our offerings:

Happy birthday to Frexy - we're four years old!

This morning I looked at the calendar and was surprisingly excited to see that Frexy already turned four. On August 25, 2005, I registered the domain and started a wild journey: starting my own design business. The idea was simple at that time: I wanted to devote my time to doing what I love: creating beautiful websites. Now Frexy has transformed from a soloist into a design studio with five people.

In the last four years, we've landed numerous successful projects, worked with amazing clients, collaborated with some interesting talents and partners. 2008 marked our expansion into icon design services and IconEden, an icon design studio, was born with destined success. Some great clients are knocking our door, and we have many potential internal projects behind the curtain. We're eagerly looking forward to seeing what we will come up with.

Whatever we're today, a big thanks is owed to our friends, colleages, clients, partners and especially, the web community. Your respectable support is a large part of our success story. THANK YOU!
TypeCateBlog

Introduce IconEden.com - A premium stock icon provider

Hi folks,

It is a great excitement for me to write this article today. Yes, I am so glad to announce one of our special production launches at Frexy Studio, IconEden.com.

Few months earlier, Vu Tran and me have rushed into a new project relating to icon design for Frexy Studio. This project actually was not completely fresh at all because besides web crafting service, Frexy Studio has also been unobtrusively provided the icon design service for two years now. Until early this year, I decided to make upgrade to this icon design realm so that it would become a specific service channel, focusing on icons and related services.

And today, with its full-fledged identity, IconEden.com came into sight, in readiness to deliver crisp and beautiful royalty-free stock icons for applications, websites, user interfaces. Also, IconEden.com is where we share our growing free icon collection with community.

So, make a toast and cheers!
TypeCateBlog

Milky part 8

Description
