Fortnitemares 2025, Fortnite's annual Halloween event, is set to kick off tomorrow on October 9, 2025, with a hotfix update around 6 AM EDT. This year's spooky season is packed with horror crossovers, and one of the biggest highlights is the long-awaited Jason Voorhees integration from the Friday the 13th franchise. Based on leaks and official teasers, here's everything confirmed or heavily rumored about Jason's role in the event.

Jason Skin:

- Playable outfit in Item Shop (~1,800–2,000 V-Bucks) with hockey mask, machete, pickaxe, and emote.

- High-demand Item Shop drop; reactive mask that "bleeds" on elims.

Boss & Medallion:

- Defeating Jason as an NPC boss will drop the Jason Voorhees Medallion, granting stealth-based perks like reduced footstep noise, increased sneak attack damage, or temporary invisibility in foliage—fitting his silent killer vibe.

It first debuted in 2020 as "The Haunting of Verdansk" in Warzone, and has returned yearly since, blending slasher icons and supernatural elements into the high-octane gameplay. In 2025, it's making a big splash as part of Season 6 for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty: Warzone, marking the final season before Black Ops 7 launches later in the year.

Jason will be involved in the new Slasher Deathmatch mode! Each match lasts four rounds total. At the start of each round, two of the eight survivors are randomly chosen to take on the role of a slasher. A new pair of slashers are picked each round until all eight players have had the chance to play as one.

In both versions of Slasher Deathmatch, the survivors win if both slashers are eliminated or if the remaining survivors make it to the end of the round. The slashers win if all survivors are eliminated before the clock runs out. Survivors automatically scream every 30 seconds, so they’ll have to stay on the move if they hope to make it to the end.

Track down survivors, as Jason from Friday the 13th in this thrilling mode featuring the infamous slayer in the hockey mask.

Jason’s Abilities

Rage Mode (Scorestreak): Jason gains temporary immunity to stuns and survivors won’t detect Jason until he’s nearby. Rage Mode lasts five seconds, though the countdown pauses while in active pursuit of a survivor.

Teleport (Field Upgrade): Teleports Jason to a random survivor.

Stalking (Passive Ability): Jason descends on survivors who fall within his line of sight, moving with an unnerving pace that quickens slightly as he closes in.

Loadout: Jason wields a Machete as his Primary Weapon with a Combat Axe for ranged support.

Survivor Abilities

Loadout: At the start of the round, survivors are provided with a Flashbang, but no lethal weapons. The final survivor is awarded with a Pickaxe that can eliminate Jason.

NECA To Debut First Look At Savini Jason Figure From Friday The 13th: The Game At SDCC

Just announced via IGN this afternoon, NECA is planning on debuting the first look at the Savini Jason Voorhees action figure! The Jason design was created by special effects artist Tom Savini exclusively for Friday The 13th: The Game when it was released in 2017. The playable character was only offered to backers of the Kickstarter campaign that was used to fund the production of the game. After the launch, many players were unaware of the exclusive skin and paid high dollar amounts to purchase from other players. The Savini Jason will be in high demand once again!

The NECA SDCC (San Diego Comic Con) booth #3545 will be where the first peak at the new 7.6 inch Ultimate Figure. This will be the first figure released based on Friday The 13th: The Game. This also will answer some questions about what Horror Inc. and Jason Universe have rights to merchandise and sell to the longtime fans of Friday The 13th.

Friday the 13th: The Game is a 2017 asymmetrical survival horror game developed by IllFonic and published by Gun Media. It is based on the Friday the 13th franchise. The game was released on May 26, 2017, as a digital release and later released on October 13, 2017, as a physical release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A Nintendo Switch version was released on August 13, 2019.

Friday the 13th: The Game pits up to seven players controlling Camp Crystal Lake counselors against one player controlling Jason Voorhees. It is a semi-open world game, with players able to explore it further.

Jason Voorhees is making a huge splash in the gaming world in a few days as it was just announced recently that the slasher character would be joining the Multiversus gaming world. Today, a brand new reveal trailer unveils Uber-Jason from Jason X! Also on display in the trailer are some of the unique fan favorite kills from the film franchise, including the sleeping bag from Friday The 13th Part VII: The New Blood!

Jason Voorhees will join the roster of Warner Bros. Characters when the free-to-play platform fighter video game launches. He’s a “Tank class character with a scary moveset that incorporates his axe and machete weapons, teleporting ability to show up right behind opponents and stuff them into a sleeping bag, fatally folding a bed in half to launch enemies off the map, and more.”

WB Games and Player First Games will release MultiVersus on May 28, 2024, with the video game uniting pop culture icons from the Warner Bros. brand. That includes Jason Voorhees himself from the Friday The 13th franchise.

Friday The 13th Modded Games Receive Cease And Desist Orders From Rights Holder Horror Inc

It has been a wild weekend for video game and Friday The 13th fans. Last week we reported on a new modded build of Friday The 13th: The Game that a number of fans were putting together for everyone to enjoy for free. I thought it would be a shaky proposition as Harry Manfredini mentioned last summer that Horror Inc is developing a new Friday The 13th video game and, because of that, my guess is that the rights holder would not want any competition. With that being said, unfortunately, Horror Inc did begin sending cease and desist orders out to fans who are modding the Gun Media game this past weekend.

Not only did the team behind Friday The 13th The Game: Resurrected receive the cease and desist, but another long time modding project of the video game, Friday The 13th: The Complete Edition, received a similar request from Horror Inc. That project had been ongoing for around two years to this point.

These orders from the rights holder were delivered to the developers on their Discord channels. It is safe to deduce what my initial thoughts were on this matter, which is Horror Inc. is most definitely gearing up to officially announce their new video game in the near future and that they do no want any competition against their new game, regardless if these mods of the Gun Media product were being offered for free. It is within Horror Inc's right to ask these projects to be terminated, but it still is upsetting to see that the fully realized potential of Friday The 13th: The Game will never be witnessed.

The silver lining is that a new video game for the franchise is coming soon, along with the television series Crystal Lake and a slew of other projects!

Fans Create New Modded Build To Resurrect Friday The 13th: The Game

The end of last year closed a major chapter on one of the best things to happen to the Friday The 13th franchise in decades, Friday The 13th: The Game. The ability to purchase the game ended last year as the rights reverted back to Horror Inc. The rights holders are now working on a brand new game whereas details on that project have not been revealed as of yet. In the mean time, fans can continue to play Friday The 13th: The Game on PC or consoles, but with no more support from the developers or new additions to current game play.

Many fans are aware that there were whole maps and Jason skins that were developed for the game that were either never completed, or released by Gun Media. This was due to legal issues with the Rights battle that took place the past several years. The major unreleased map was that of the Grendel ship from the film Jason X, along with the accompanying skins of Pre-Uber and Uber Jason. That content has been unlocked by game mods over the past several years and can be found by searching Youtube.

Recently, we discovered that a team of fans have been working on mods for a brand new build of Friday The 13th: The Game that will not only include the lost content not released by Gun Media, but will have more skins and characters, such as the 2009 sack head Jason, and the popular Ghost Jason from the fan film series Never Hike Alone. There is a plethora of other characters in this new build, including Rob Dier from Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter. This will be a free to play release and will happen on hosted servers by the development team.

The big question, is this an official release? No, this is not an official release by the rights holders, rather a love letter to the fans by the fans. This new build, Friday The 13th: The Game | Resurrected is more of a completionist journey for all fans and we hope this excursion is fun for all.

We want to emphasize, this is a fan project and not an official release. The team behind this "resurrection" is planning on making announcements about the release of the new build of this game on April 15th. Gun Interactive Announces Expiration Date Of Friday The 13th: The Game License

Yesterday, we reported that there will be a brand new video game created for Friday The 13th. This new game will have a new development team where Gun Interactive will not be involved. Today, Gun announced via social media that the license for their Friday The 13th: The Game will expire at the end of this year.

The game will no longer be available for sale after December 31, 2023. The overall game will still function for play until at least December 31, 2024. With this announcement, the game price has been reduced to $4.99 for purchase and $0.99 for DLC purchases.

It is indeed a sad day to see this ambitious endeavor coming to an end. The game reinvigorated an entire fanbase and brought so many new people to the Friday The 13th franchise. Thank you to Gun Interactive for giving us fans the most exciting interactive franchise experience to date!

Harry Manfredini Teases New Friday The 13th Game

We have been teasing that a lot of big projects are forthcoming for fans in the near future and one of those projects has now been released into the fandom by legendary Friday The 13th film composer Harry Manfredini. We thought this would be held back for an announcement later in the year, but Harry has revealed that a new Friday The 13th video game is in the works!

Indeed a new company will be developing the video game and Gun Media will not be involved for this go around. William Lockwood attended this past weekend’s Camp Crystal Lake Reunion where Harry revealed to him the following, for which was posted at www.relyonhorror.com:

During our conversation, he also revealed that he will be working on a new, as yet unannounced Friday the 13th game being developed by a different company than the previous one produced by Gun Media and featuring “more realistic looking” characters. The game will supposedly be done in a different style to that of the previous asymmetrical multiplayer title, says Manfredini. He didn’t know many other details about the game beyond his involvement..

Friday The 13th: Killer Puzzle Game Being Discontinued Due To Licensing Issue

Fans have been brought some excellent news for the franchise recently, with the new Crystal Lake show being announced, and preparation for that show starting with writing commencing soon. Even so, the lingering franchise rights issues have claimed another victim as Blue Wizard Digital, developers of the game Friday The 13th: Killer Puzzle, announced they were not able to renew the license for the game and it will be pulled from stores effective January 23, 2023.

What does this mean for those fans who have downloaded the game or made in-game purchase? Anyone who downloads game or makes purchases related to the game will be able to keep what they have, either on their mobile device or game consoles. If you wait until after the deadline, the game will be gone forever. This is a shame as it really is a fun experience to play with all of the different versions of Jason from the films and the excellent environments to play in.

Gun Media Addresses Hacking Concerns With Friday The 13th: The Game

Friday The 13th: The Game has been a great source of escape, entertainment, and reminiscing for the fans of the Friday The 13th films. In a lot of ways, the game is a highly detailed digital archive of film locations and movie experiences for long removed buildings over the past decades. The long term goals of the publisher Gun Media was never fully realized due to the ongoing law suit over the franchise rights, but the game truly did deliver on recreating the film experience of Crystal Lake and Jason Voorhees.

Unfortunately, there has been a high rate of hacking within the game recently and Gun Media just sent us a Press Release addressing the concerns of the hacking incidents.

Beginning the first of July and continuing over the last ten days, there have been hacking attempts on Friday the 13th: The Game affecting matchmaking, gameplay, and player progression. We are in the process of conducting our own internal investigation and have engaged a third party international computer forensics company. We are working with our development partners toward preventing further disruptions. These attempts and the harm to our player base constitute a crime. So, in addition to our other efforts above, we will also be fully cooperating with any resulting law enforcement investigations. We have not detected any loss of or unauthorized access to any personal or financial player information. Due to the criminal nature of this intrusion and the ongoing investigation as to its origins, we are currently unable to share additional information.

Watch Jason Voorhees Be Defeated In Record Time In Nintendo's Friday The 13th Game

Gamers and Friday The 13th fans have practiced for decades to defeat Jason Voorhees in the Nintendo Entertainment System's 1988 Friday The 13th video game. Contributor Carlo Carrasco wrote a retrospective on the game a few years ago detailing the struggles of surviving and succeeding in completion of the adventure and super fan Chris McDonald even created a Friday The 13th Game Strategy Guide to help defeat Jason Voorhees and win the game.

Just about a week ago, Youtuber and Twitch gamer Warwick STL was playing through the infamous Nintendo game and completed an awesome speed run of the game in which he defeated Jason in just over four minutes of game play. He stated on his Youtube channel that is still a minute off of the world record, but it is his record best and it is really cool to watch someone go through and defeat Jason is such a short amount of time. Some fans may have never seen Jason be defeated before in the game period.

Resident Evil 2 Game Mod Delivers Savini's Hell Jason!

For Friday The 13th: The Game, Tom Savini's Hell Jason is one of the most sought after versions of the character to play as ever since the game was released a few years ago. Hell Jason was an exclusive perk for those people who backed the game during its crowd funding campaign prior to the game's release. Many fans have been pining for a way to play as this incarnation of the character and now a modder has brought the character alive for Resident Evil 2.

As mentioned on Games Radar, Hell Jason has taken the place of Resident Evil's Mr. X:

The breakout character of the Resident Evil 2 remake is undoubtedly the Mr. X tyrant. Mr. X’s tendency to relentlessly stalk Leon and Claire throughout the Raccoon City Police Department has helped him become his own meme, as players find him both hilarious and frightening. Modders have had some fun with Mr. X as well, swapping the hulking character out for other pop culture icons.

....... Jason Voorhees mod actually feels pretty natural, as the infamous Camp Crystal Lake killer already acts like Mr. X. Just like Mr. X, Jason slowly pursues his victims, he doesn’t talk, and he is a large, imposing figure, so he feels right at home in Resident Evil 2.

Friday The 13th: The Game Coming To Nintendo Switch This Spring

Friday The 13th: The Game may no longer be adding new content to it’s gameplay, but the game’s producer will be adding a new console to the mix. Gun Media recently spoke to Variety about releasing the game on the Nintendo Switch this Spring. And no, there will be no new content, just everything that has been available to present day.

The upcoming edition includes all released content and paid DLC, including every Jason Kill Pack, both Counselor Clothing Packs, and the Emote Party Pack. It does not the include Kickstarter backer exclusive “Savini Jason” character or the backer exclusive clothing pack.

“We’re happy to be bringing ‘Friday the 13th: The Game’ to the Nintendo Switch with the help of our partners at Black Tower and Nighthawk. Japanese Company Takes Over As Lead Developer For Friday The 13th: The Game

Although new content will no longer be created for Friday The 13th: The Game, there will be continued support for improving game play and fixing bugs and other issues. It was announced today that Gun Media’s development partner, Illfonic, will be stepping aside from the game and Black Tower Studios will be taking on full time duty in game support.

Illfonic has been with the game from the absolute beginning and we all have a great appreciation for their work in bringing Crystal Lake to life in the video game. Read on below about the transition of lead development.

Black Tower Studios will take the lead to work on bugs and continue improving the overall player experience. As such, now that work on Dedicated Servers is complete, IllFonic will transition away from development of Friday the 13th: The Game, while Black Tower Studios will be picking it up. Black Tower Studios have worked with IllFonic for over a year on content and maps for Friday the 13th: The Game, and we are confident in their ability to continue supporting the game. Examples include assisting in the creation of Pinehurst and Jarvis House maps. IllFonic will be moving on to different projects that are better suited to a full team.

Video Of Jason X Gameplay On Grendel Ship From 'Friday The 13th: The Game' Surfaces

The unfortunate events surrounding the stoppage of new content creation for Friday The 13th: The Game left the inclusion of the highly anticipated Uber-Jason character and accompanying Grendel Ship map from the film Jason X on the cutting room floor. Gun Media and Illfonic had been developing the content for months, for which they had embedded the ongoing work on the DLC in a build of the game that was available for all fans to play. The work was eventually removed from the game.

Recently, a Facebook page uploaded a video of the unlocked in-progress Jason X content within the game, showing Jason patrolling the ship for victims. The map and character work is not finished, so it is a rough idea of what Gun Media wanted to release to the fans, but nonetheless it is fun to see game-play.

It is a shame that we will never get to see this Jason skin and map in the game for play, but perhaps someday a sequel game can be released to include this awesome work for all fans to enjoy!

Like all Friday The 13th fans, we are all very upset over the legal happenings going on with the franchise rights now, which has stopped the creation of any new content with regards to the intellectual property of Friday The 13th. There has been a lot of speculation as to why and how new content cannot be created at this point.

The awesome Friday The 13th: Killer Puzzle is teasing a new Jason avatar to be released for their game soon (hint: a certain date is upon us next week) and the founder of Blue Wizard Digital (the game's producer) reached out to give a little insight into when new content creation had to stop and how Killer Puzzle is able to release a new character soon.

So, what's happening? We are unlocking a new Jason avatar in Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle that you can earn for free by completing a specific challenge. Let's just say that hiking alone is always a bad idea...

How are we doing this without violating the legal restrictions on new content....?

First, we are under the same restrictions as Gun (Media), and were hoping, like them, that the contractual issues would have been resolved or settled by now.

For convoluted legal reasons, January 22, 2018 was the legal deadline we had on creating new content for our game. As that date approached, we completed several Jason avatars that we put into the game but disabled, with the idea that we could release access to them later without breaching our contract.

And no, we don't have tons of secret hidden content buried away in the game, just a few items we thought might be fun to release later on if the worst legal scenarios came to pass. Like Gun, we are mostly limited to bug fixing and other technical work on the game, and are still hoping that the legal conflicts can be resolved so that we can get to work on really cool new stuff!

Blue Wizard had to soft release their game in January, well ahead of their intended release date, in order to beat the deadline in January. Hopefully, this lends a little insight into the how and why of new content creation in regards to the Friday The 13th franchise. The Horror Inc. Legal Battle Halts New Content For ‘Friday The 13th: The Game’

As the Halloween franchise has thrived recently with the upcoming release of a new film in theaters, Friday The 13th has been stuck in a quagmire of legalities that has brought a halt to any talk of a new film release in the foreseeable future. The shining light during the legal battle for the franchise rights between Horror Inc., Sean Cunningham, and Victor Miller is the tremendous support and success of Friday The 13th: The Game. The video game has united the fan base and actually ignited new interest in the franchise. Sadly, news came down today from the game’s creator, Gun Media, that because of the legal battle, no more new content will be developed for the game.

UPDATE: Gun Media will not be producing new content for the game, even if the lawsuit is resolved. They will continue to support existing content for the game only.

Development on games can’t just pause indefinitely and pick back up again; it doesn’t work that way. Especially when you have no idea when that future date will occur. We can’t keep building content that may never see the light of day. That’s bad business. I’ve also had questions about adding “non-F13” related content to the game. “Can’t you make a new level or a new counselor that has nothing to do with the films?” We can’t do that either. We can’t add any content, whatsoever. Nada. Not even a new tree or rock. We can only focus on console dedicated servers, bug fixes, and maintenance.

Friday the 13th: The Game has established a loyal and excited fan base over the last year. As publisher/developer, Gun and Illfonic have made every effort to provide our fans with an authentic and great gaming experience.

As many in our community may be aware, a legal claim has been made which could affect all future Friday the 13th intellectual property. Although in the past the game has not been subject to any such claim, new content and material going forward will be affected. An initial decision in this case was expected in October 2017, but no decision has yet been issued. The court review of the legal rights is in process, but final resolution may take some time. Until the claim rights can be dismissed or resolved, no new content can be released.

When we originally learned that the game fell within the crosshairs of this legal dispute, we tried to balance the creation of new content requested by our fans against the maintenance and bug fixing that our community expects and deserves. We attempted to do both within the limits of the legal case.

We’ve now been forced to accept that the lawsuit makes future content for the game, including alternate play modes, new playable Jasons and Counselors, and new maps, unfeasible now or in the future. Although the listed content types will be affected, we remain committed to launching dedicated servers on our console platforms and providing the continued maintenance and bug fixing important to supporting our fan base.

So what does this mean exactly? There will be no additional content added to Friday the 13th: The Game. This includes “Uber Jason”, The Grendel Map, Jason Kill Packs, Clothing, Emotes and new Counselors.

This is truly unfortunate and the fact that we will no longer get the highly anticipated Uber-Jason is really disappointing. Gun Media delivered a game experience well beyond expectations and every fan should be appreciative of the fact that we will always have a completely immersive experience in Crystal Lake that allows us to relive the films over and over again.

Hopefully, once the rights issues are resolved, the game updates will be able to resume and possibly a new film can finally be developed.

Friday The 13th: The Game Single Player Challenges Available This Week!

When Friday The 13th: The Game was first announced for release in May of 2017, one of the things promised to the fans was that there would eventually be a single player game mode and challenges added outside of the online group play. Single player mode with bots was made available a number of months after launch, but the most anticipated addition to the game has been single player changes and now it is finally here.

As announced in the new trailer below, single player challenges will be added to the game on May 24th free of charge! Accompanying the challenges is an entire update to the Unreal Engine that drives the game as well as the new Counselor Victoria Sterling, Jason Part 7 rebalance, New skins for Roy, upgraded Jason grab, Jason weapon selection, PC key binding, AI improvements, and more.

Interchangeable Weapons And Kills For Jason Coming To Friday The 13th: The Game

Gun Media continues to update their immensely popular game Friday The 13th: The Game. The company recently announced single game challenges for players and now they revealed that the different Jason Voorhees characters will be able to mix and match weapons among themselves.

You want Part 8 Jason with a pitchfork? No problem. How about Part 2 Jason with hedge clippers? You got it. Gun explains further from their tease yesterday

“Have a favorite Jason, but wish you could change his weapon? Would you love to see Part 3 Jason perform a Part 6 kill? You’re in luck (victims, not so much). Coming soon, Jason players will be able to choose their weapon from the player customization screen.”
