Now, a recent study from Braem & Mills confirms it is best to keep commands simple. Researchers found that a dog's response to a command decrease when unfamiliar words precede it. In addition, saying a dog's name before a known command had no effect on the dog's performance, but saying the dog's name followed by a newly learned command decreased the dogs' performance.
