In a showing of civility, the good fellas over at For Whom the Cowbell Tolls shook off those SBNation 503 Error messages and were nice enough to invite Rick Muscles and I onto their show on Bulldog Sports Radio to discuss tonight’s Egg Ball game in Starkville.  As these things sometimes do, it devolved into football talk, and then, more importantly, who between Hugh Freeze and Dan Mullen has more Jesus in them.  It was not only determined that Hugh Freeze would pummel Dan Mullen in a bible drill, but the conversation also produced a new nickname for the Ole Miss head coach…as you can see from the photo above, Freezus (FOTP copyright pending!) has risen, and he is here to save.

It is a rite of passage for all SEC members, a bit of hazing, if you will, that any schools seeking membership into the conference must at one point endure.  Mizzou got the unpleasantness out of the way during the bowl season as it spent 3 days and 4 fabulous nights in the Shreveport-Bossier metro area for a rain-soaked Independence Bowl.  Texas A&M, certainly no stranger to the friendly confines that the Shreveport Pirates built, has stepped up to take their medicine as well, agreeing to play Louisiana Tech in the Indy Bowl next September.

The Kevin Sumlin Era will start with a neutral-site game in Shreveport, of all places, which simply underscores the difficulty of scheduling during conference realignment. A&M athletic director Bill Byrne has joked that he’s been turned down more times than a bed sheet. The bidding for some games has gone over $1 million. So in a bad situation, A&M had to compromise. “Our options were limited due to conference realignment,” Byrne wrote in his Wednesday on-line column. “We expect the scheduling process to go much smoother in the future.” The Aggies even talked to Florida State, Byrne said, before settling on Louisiana Tech, which is not a gimme. The Bulldogs (8-5) won seven straight games late in the season and pushed TCU in the Poinsettia Bowl before losing 31-24. Sonny Dykes is a coach on the rise with a solid returning quarterback in Colby Cameron. McNeese might be looking pretty good come Aug. 30.

I like that as the new city marketing campaign…Shreveport, the best available option.

She won the hearts of many of us on signing day, what with the way she hung the names of yet another stellar recruiting class at Alabama just so. Imaginations ran wild as her houdstooth dress hung on for dear life as she stretched to place the names of recruits at the top of the big Bama board.  She could have left it right there and become an instant signing day and internets legend…but then she bent down to wave hi to her fans…and, yeah.  That one hurt all of us.

Alas, if there are still those of you out there who don’t mind a little excess gum or have at least two brown bags handy, I’ve got, some…um…news for you.  She likely can probably be yours, at least for a couple of songs, for a 2 drink minimum and a couple of $20s.

From the horse’s mouth…literally, “you won’t find anyone south of the Mason-Dixon line with better skills on and off the pole.”

I know this comes as quite a shock to many of you that thought young Vala (which Im sure is her real name) just did the sort of thing she did on signing day in between teaching Sunday School and helping little old ladies across the street, but alas, that seems to not so much be the case.   The good news is, if you are in Birmingham, you know where to find her if you ever need someone  just to talk to…you know, about recruiting and stuff.
