Bama fans, gettin’ money, gettin’ paper

In a materialistic world, people are driven to monumental lengths to obtain the finer things in life.  Luxury cars, first class travel, lavish clothing and gifts…these are the things that can be achieved with hard work, great personal sacrifice, and even a little luck.  But when Alabama football season tickets are part of those “finer things”, damn the luck, lets get to check forgin’!

A federal judge today sentenced a Hoover woman to 30 months in prison for stealing more than $1 million from her employer, using the money to pay for season tickets to University of Alabama football, clothes, trips and pageant gowns.

Perrin pleaded guilty in September to federal health care, wire and tax fraud and admitted to stealing money from Simon Williamson Clinic — a clinic for West End — from July 2005 to February 2009. She wrote checks to herself or wrote checks from the clinic’s account to pay for her personal expenses.

An FBI agent testified Wednesday that Perrin went on shopping sprees for clothes. She used the money for jet skis, a BMW and trips to such places as Destin, New York and Las Vegas.

Be honest, you expected the trip list to include Branson, Pigeon Forge, Eureka Springs, and Panama City.

Spring training, Ramsey style

Welp, our ol’ buddy Kige has gone and made the big time. 

If you consider Jimmy Fallon “big time”.    And I certainly would considering that guy laughs at his own jokes in front of a national television audience with The Roots providing musical accompanyment, and I do the same thing but alone in my house with nothing but the deafening sounds of loneliness…so yeah, advantage Fallon. 

Kige’s widespread fame was inevitable really.  Talent like that won’t stay suppressed forever.  And yes, Fallon needs to get him on the show immediately, if not sooner.

While President Obama welcomed Lord Saban and the Crimson Tide Football team to the White House, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, from Auburn, was “hiding in his office”. And tweeting:

Ahh…moral victories. Also of note, Obama refused to put on the No. 13 helmet, despite Javier Arenas’ insistence, because, according to him, it would mess up his “do”. And no mention of the dreaded BCS system.

The Oxford venue that housed many an Fraternity/Sorority Redneck Swap and performance by the Tyrone Smith Review has gone on to its great reward.  The Gin, an Ole Miss drinking institution in the 80’s and 90’s, burned to the ground late Saturday night.  No one was hurt in the blaze and no Phi Delts from 1996 were available to comment on how on the fire might have started. 

The former working Cotton Gin turned bar had been a safe haven for those needing and possessing fake IDs for some time, but for the past ten years had been pretty much nothing more than an abandoned building thanks to an incident in the late 90’s involving The 2 Live Crew.

Thats right, Luke Skywalker and his dancers who may or may have not performed lude acts on stage during their performance at The Gin that night caused an entire drinking establishment to lose their liquor license and ultimately be shut down.  I think thats how we all want to go out.
