Adelaide Fringe Parade Take Two! Add Pics To Our Flickr Group…

The Opening Night Parade may have been cancelled due to the record breaking downpour on the day, but that didn’t stop a crowd of 20,000 flock to the East End streets of Adelaide for an afternoon celebration just two weeks later. Featuring key elements of the Fringe Parade it was an epic return involving Kaurna dancers and musicians, fluoro-clad cheerleaders, stilt walkers, salsa dancers and much more !

Every festival needs a super fan and we’re on a search to find the ultimate one in 2011! Don’t worry, we’re not looking for Michael Jackson level of obsessive screaming fans that have had plastic surgery just to resemble him. Not everyone can get away with having tentacles for arms, we know that!

What do you have to do? Well, to be in with a chance to be crowned Fringe fan of the year, all you have to do is take a picture of yourself Fringed up to the max! Extra points for those that get a shot of themselves in the brand-new merchandise range. Then simply upload the pic to our Facebook Fan Page.

The winner will not only receive a $50 Fringe gift voucher to spend as they please, but will also win a pair of double passes to the exclusive Fringe Club on nightly from 6pm throughout the festival!

Entries will close on Feb 18 so get snapping!

Fringe Caravan hits Sydney – stage lineup

The Fringe Caravan is rolling in with a program including young singer songwriter Jess Ribero and The Bone Collectors, irreverent cabaret performers The Wau Wau Sisters, ARIA winning a capella quartet Idea of North, roots pop duo Microwave Jenny, magician Anthony Lay and innovative UK cabaret duo Coco Loco!

Fringe Caravan Heads to Sydney

The Fringe Caravan rolled into Melbourne, and didn’t we all just have a blast! Check out the Fringe acts that performed onstage at Federation Square. Were you there? Who was your favourite?

Fringe On Tour… The Story So Far!

Adelaide Fringe on tour is well and truly underway! The Fringe Caravan team arrived in Melbourne safely and after bundling in enough acts to keep the crowds entertained all day long come rain or shine, here’s an extended postcard of the journey so far. Boy what a journey it’s been!

The road from Adelaide to Melbourne sure ain’t a short one but that didn’t stop the excitement along the way. We made sure to spread the good word (and poster) of the Adelaide Fringe from Coomadook to Tintinara and everywhere inbetween. People were delighted to hear the Adelaide Fringe was heading their way!

Never one for a minute’s rest, Sam kept a careful eye on the caravan along the way to ensure nothing was going to slow us down!

Day one in Melbourne’s Federation Square got off to a flying start! Kicking off the proceedings we had Letitia Maher’s Sunset Soiree, where we were treated to some enchanting songs surrounding the desire for popcorn and some awesome sounding owls!

Rounding off the first set of the day, we were treated to The Twoks who literally rocked the caravan with their music!

Taking us back to the 40’s, the oh so glamorous World War Wonderful ladies gave us some rousing patriotic songs about losing limbs in battle and the cautions of who we sleep with. Take note!

Finishing off this super Sunday was The Spaces Between featuring the stunning Amanda Palmer in addition to her many adoring fans!

Tonight we bid farewell to Melbourne and get back on the road to Sydney, see you at Bondi!

Adelaide Fringe Goes On Tour!

Australia’s largest and most popular arts festival can no longer be contained to the streets of Adelaide!

Adelaide Fringe Caravan is going on tour to Melbourne and Sydney and bringing all the fun of a program packed full of cabaret, comedy, circus, dance, film, music, puppetry, theatre, art and design with it.

The caravan will roll into Federation Square from Saturday January 8 to Monday January 10 to showcase jaw-dropping physical theatre, memorable cabaret, brilliant music, international comedians, energetic mayhem and a hell of a lot of good fun – and all for free!

Start by calling it Adelaide Fringe’s box office, stick it in the middle of Rundle Mall and cram it full of enough gift vouchers to give Father Christmas present envy. The brand-spanking new FringeTIX Box Office opened to the public last weekend in Rundle Mall. Not only will the box office be situated there in the lead up to and throughout the Festival, but the new Fringe hub will be complete when our very own Caravan Showcase Stage takes its place under the Gawler Place Canopy right next door! Hosting a line-up of top Fringe performers daily throughout the Adelaide Fringe 2011, it’s the perfect place to ponder who’s show you want to go and see.

For those in need of buying some top quality Christmas presents, vouchers can be bought priced from $15 to $200 for music, theatre, comedy, circus and dance events in the Adelaide Fringe. That’s not all, to solve the most frustrating of problems, (by that we mean keeping your beverage icey in the scorching summer months), stubby holders are also available…perfect!

Hundreds Popped Their Head Under…Did You?

If you were anywhere near Rundle Mall last Thursday, you can’t have missed the giant white cube that took over Gawler Place Canopy for what was certainly more than your average poster launch…

From the outside the cube gave away nothing of the Adelaide Fringe 2011 poster design so we encouraged the whole of the city to come along and pop their head under to see what all of the fuss was about. As some people approached with sheer determination to find out what was inside, others made their way towards it with a hint of hesitation in every step. Regardless of initial reactions to the mysterious obstacle, everyone that ventured under came out with a smile on their face be that from the live animation of the poster and infectious music that accompanied it or from the realisation that this was just a glimpse of the transformation that the city will undergo for Adelaide Fringe from 18 February – 13 March, 2011.
