Well lookie here~this is my 1st mug rug created with leftover pieces of fabric from other projects....even the batting is left over. What a fun little quick and easy project that is eco-friendly as well. The back is made from a pair of jeans that no longer fit me. I even made the binding out of left over cutting from the border of a quilt. Yay! I think it turned out sweet....

When I went to my Wed. sewing workshop; Gloria #1 (we have 3 Gloria's) had brought in a bag of scraps that she didn't want. Gloria #2 went through it 1st. No one else seem to want them, so #1 told me to take them. (I think she caught me going through the trash can before) LOL! Well so far, I think I've got enough of them sewn together so far that I have 3 pot holders, and 6 mug rugs. Also I have some 4 patch squares left over, and 3 quilted postcard tops. Those are just the ones that are color coordinated so far....and I put some fusible on some of the smaller green pieces, and cut out some stems and leaves with my Go Accuquilt dies. It was too cold/windy to go to my flea market booth today, so I had fun playing with scraps instead. WooHoo! Pictures coming when I finish these up. Thanks Gloria!!!

For all intents and purposes, the Christmas season is folding up. Time to break out the reds, & pinks for Valentines Day. Might as well sort out the spring & pastel colors for Easter while your at it. Seems the older I get, the faster the year goes by.....BIG sigh!

I found this article to be quite interesting. While going thru some of my stuff for my flea market booth, I found a flower press that I bought when my oldest daughter was a toddler. When I loosened up the screws & took off the top....lo & behold....those fiddle-leaf ferns that grew wild in front of the rent house I lived in where preserved quite nicely. I had forgotten about them after all of these years....I wanna say at least 18 yrs give or take a year.

I'm back! Living LIFE!!!

Hello my friends, & my poor neglected blog! It is very nice to be back.....back to blogging, back to sewing, back to creating, back to thinking about creating.....back to my LIFE!!!!
It has been a very slow process......
I have been in a funk, a slump, a depressed state, call it what you will....for a very LONG time.
The death of my beloved father....
The death of my younger brother the following summer....
My open heart surgery, the very next summer.....
This all drove me to a very dark place, that lasted for a few years.
The diagnosis of a tumor in my lung, non cancerous at the time.....in 2008....
The break up of my family unit 2 months later on April 2nd; (so I guess it couldn't be confused as a BAD April Fools joke.)
D-I-V-O-R-C-E after 15 yrs. of togetherness, my youngest daughter deciding to move with her dad, being a single mother to the middle daughter, & the loss of my medical insurance when I needed it the most, not to mention the moral support.....all gone....up-rooted....in shambles....done!
I took some time off from a very energy demanding, life sucking job for about 6 months, but had to return due to financial circumstances...like most of us do, so 2 more years of that.....yikes!
Well I finally quit that job a year ago this month....yay!!!
I have been looking for a job ever since, now that my savings has pretty much been exhausted...and living by the seat of my pants so to speak....
Getting turned down at Toyota USA because of my pulmonary problem....being over qualified for cutting up fresh fruit and packing in those plastic containers at my neighborhood HEB.....& everything in between.....It's amazing that I am still here after all of that isn't it? Well I AM!!!
I feel better now that I let it all hang out here (minus the nasty details of course) but I am sure you get the jest.
I will continue to struggle....I always have!
I will continue to fight.........I am a survivor!
I will fall.............................I always manage to get back up!
I will continue to live...........I have too many unfinished projects to finish....& too many people left on my list to piss off before I go.....LOL!
I will no longer live angry, focus on the past, second guess myself, or allow negativity in my LIFE.
My car is fixed, the roof doesn't leak, I have a part-time job, a few side jobs coming up, my middle daughter just started UT Austin & is doing great.... & I am happy.

Another year gone by....

I can't believe another year has gone by....& I have NOT done anything creative this year.....
I have been spending alot of time on Face Book, playing Mafia Wars...it is really addicting.....but it is not my passion....so I need to make some time for my sewing, & other things I enjoy that doesn't involve a keyboard or mouse....
Now where did I lose my paint brush, & my foot pedal???

....and a return the the wonderful world of the Internet!
I bought myself a new PC for Christmas...yippee...& I'm back on-line
finally. Now to get back to sewing, & blogging!!!
Also, I'm gonna start the new year out right by finding new things to re-cycle. I know all of us generate so much trash on a daily basis, & we have become such a disposable society. We don't use & re-use anything, we just buy, use, & throw away. almost all of my light bulbs have been changed to spiral fluorescent bulbs to save energy. I unplug all of my small appliances & chargers when they are not in use. If I use disposable plates...which isn't often...I buy paper, not plastic. I crush my own cans, put magazines,newspapers,soda bottles, & phone books in the re-cycle bin for the city. Tin cans,cardboard boxes, &Styrofoam packing are now finding their way into the bin as well. I wonder how many of you recycle your trash? What do you re-cycle? What else can we do to help save the planet for our children's children??? Leave me your feedback in the comment section please.

This quilt was made for ME by my internet friends from my postcard group, & Mis-Fit quilters. Isn't it just beautiful?
All the ladies made a block, sent it to Kim for assembly.She pieced & quilted it, & even hand dyed the border fabric in my favorite color...RED! Mama Duck designed the label, Mel stitched it out & attached it. We we finally met for the 1st time this week,& she presented it to me. I was just amazed @ their thoughtfulness towards a person they never met before...But that's quilters for ya! I will post more detailed shots when I get a chance.
