In the spirit of the Unix philosophy, Doug McIlroy said, "Write programs that do one thing and do it well. Write programs to work together." ClamAV demonstrates just how effective this model continues to be. The ClamAV engine simply filters any input given and outputs a basic summary stating whether a virus was detected. This simplicity makes it appropriate for scanning content on a local file system, network file system, Web proxy, mail gateway, or whatever. Simply send it input and get a yes/no result.

while it isn't a virus cleaner (well, not yet anyway). it certainly is an effective and efficient virus scanner for your file server, local drives, mail server and web proxy. nonetheless it makes a compelling solution for any business looking to save some cash. there has been a ton of contributions recently and with every day ClamAV is gaining wide acceptance.

how cute is a puppy?

bailey at 4 weeks.

if you haven't heard by now, come july 1, 2005, the fcc is instituting a broadcast flag mandate which will prevent certain programs from being recorded digitally to your pvr. new pvrs and hd receivers will be compliant with the policy hollywood helped create. today, you can still buy devices which allow you to record, download, and burn hd programming regardless of the flag.

but what if i don't have HDTV? don't worry, someday you will. someday you will want to record something, and that something will be flagged. and you will be SOL.

record it now or buy the box set next xmas.
