My art got placement in a home

Sent my art carving off to its new home in Port Elizabeth.

While I carved other opportunities came knocking

I was asked to teach pewter classes at a craft shop. I had to brush up from first learning in my teens. Wonderful stuff to work with because just one sheet can mold out a drawing design into a three dimensional realm just a little bit more than embossing.

Remember that small Aggie carving?

I got commisioned to do a big one. It took me to a month of carving by carving out time to work on it.

First I sketched straight onto the wood in soft chalk. Then came the days of chipping away. Very theraputic work.

Isabella kept me company. Sweet paws.

I kept going that week

I just did a little art each day more carving and acrylic paintings that could be finished then and there in that sitting.

5cm x5cm wood block the prelude to the next

About 30cm x 30cm Canvas in warm yellow and a denim blue

And then crazy colour, very bright, very literal, not to my fancy but I learnt a lot painting it.

Last I was here was soon after little guy two was born – sweet cherub. He is almost one year now. I felt in November to deeply get back into art and the rewards have been fantastic. I just started by buying blocks of wood (a plank cut into 5 cm x 5 cm). Small canvas’ for me to just paint every day. Gauche paint, quick drying for quick art. I started out with what was around me. The window view of my mother’s garden.

June’s Joy rose, white aggies and pop corn flowers

I churned another out with some carving and colour.

Mmm cute but the winner was the carving in white wash.
