Rainy Day Playlist!

2012-11-05T20:50:00.003-05:00

According to BuzzFeed this is the perfect Rainy Day playlist... I'll be putting it to the test this week during this rain/cloudy fest...while Mila and I die. Enjoy!

Girls Parody!

Jayne sent this along to me. And I died.

Covers #3 La Dispute

2012-07-27T16:30:00.001-04:00

FYI for those of you who don't know, I love hard rock. Really hard rock. I love La Dispute since their lyrics are so poetic and filled with shocking imagery. I discovered this song through tumblr and I saw this cover on youtube. The entire song is actually screamed without a melody, however this girl below totally transforms the raw song into a gorgeous piece. Listen below.

For those of you who haven't heard the original, listen to it below.

Be prepared, it does get loud.

Covers! #2

2012-07-26T16:04:00.003-04:00

Here is post #2! This was sent to me by my good friend Marley. He has an incredible voice!

Enjoy and look out for #3 to be posted tomorrow!

Covers? Covers!

2012-07-25T16:01:00.001-04:00

Ok new series: Covers. I'm going to find my favourite covers for you all and post them. I promise they won't be the ones everyone knows about, those are annoying.

First cover I'm starting off with is by Jeremy Spring from the band Abandon Kansas. It's a cover of the Coldplay song Violet Hill. He's running a cover series on youtube and this is my faovurite so far.

Check back tomorrow for my next post!

Summah Playlist p1!

2012-07-24T19:40:00.002-04:00

I apologize ya'll: I haven't been keeping up! I loved running the series and I have some others ready and set for you to all read and enjoy, but for now my schedule is BUSHED!

However, I didn't want to miss a day of posting, so here's my overdue Summah Playlist pt1 for you to all listen to along with me. I've been writing articles like crazy and bounding across the city to events. Fun as it is, it takes its toll on my blogging life as well.

Here's what I've been listening to ALL summer long.

I hope you enjoyed it, I know Chanelle does.

YES I'M ALIVE!

2012-07-23T17:10:00.002-04:00

For those of you wondering where I am: I'm busy. Life has been filled with some new awesomeness coming my way. I've been spending this part of my Uber Summah catching up with friends that I've missed connections with during their school year and while I was working.

Last week was a complete blur. Spent some time with one of my good friends Candice. She's definitely my go-to girl when attending events. We have great chemistry: her as the photog and me as the writer stuffing food in my face in the corner. It all works out & I always have tons of fun with her.

People always ask where we met. Answer: Church where I've met all of my closest friends. She and I were able to make plans for the year, take some pictures, work on a cover song (you read right).

Before that I spent some time with my other good buddy Janelle before she ditches me and goes off to school again after her Jamaican vacay! Another girl I'm working on singing a cover with...but this one is BSB themed. Just cause we're awesome like that. We went to the LUSH Emotional Brilliance event and I cooked at her house. Apparently her mum loved my pasta. BOOYA!

HAMSTER CHEEKS FTW!

This past weekend I chilled out with my baby sister Chanelle. I was so upset because my purse was missing, but she put up with my moodiness cause she loooooovvvessss me! We made GIFs, acted like idiots, watched a rugby game and went to my friend's birthday party (bouncy castle included). All of my friends are different, but there's totally something unique and special about Chanelle: She doesn't give a flying falafel about what you or your mother thinks. I have so much fun with her (even when we cleaned her home). Forever and always the Ingrid Michaelson song below will remind me of her <3

See how awesome we are below

PS: Finally have instagram. Follow up! ElaishaJade :)

Music!

2012-07-19T08:08:00.000-04:00

Been a while since I posted anything music related. Thought I would give it a break since I was posting about tunes everyday for the past two weeks.

New Releases

Their new album is coming out soon. Trying to go see them live, but I think I'll have work.

Been listening to this track all week. No hate, just groove.

Recent Downloads!

I liked it. It was a folky-er version of their previous album. Download it FREE here.

Ultimate summer songs list with the likes of Bananarama, The Beach Boys, The Drifters, Brian Adams...see for yourself! (Billboard)

Obsessed with them when I thought I was emo. Listen to Burn it Down below.

What do you think of their new sound? I listen to this song for the rap. Everything else is ok.

This post is for Candice who totally made my week. I was so ashamed when listening to this in Starbucks, but I won't post anything I haven't listened to from beginning to end.

Favourite Theme Songs P1

2012-07-16T13:10:00.002-04:00

Ok, so today my mum and I were sitting in Starbucks and there's a TTC driver who always comes here. He's familiar with all of the barristas and they treat him like Norm from Cheers...there totally was a cheer among the staff when he walked in.

So that reminded me of the awesome Cheers theme song which then reminded me of other theme songs I love. Had to share them with you between articles I'm putting together.

ENJOY!

7 Days of Shar Pei's #3

Summer Movie List!

2012-07-14T11:50:00.000-04:00

So I'm working like crazy to save up for school this summer, and during my downtime, I love watching movies so I've created a list of movies that I haven't seen that are film staples in contemporary and classic cinema. Check them out!

Reign Over Me

The whole thing is on youtube so this will probably be knocked out first on the list!

Candy

Need to have a Heath day. Might watch 10 Things I hate About You as well.

Before Sunset

Up in the air

That time when I saw Jason Wrightman and I didn't know it was him.

Here are some more that I'm gonna watch but I'm too lazy to put the trailer up.

Slumdog Millionaire

Little Children

Jane Eyre

The Painted Veil

Dear Frankie

Albert

The Cider House Rules

Walk the Line

Crazy Heart

Dazed and Confused

Rewatch list for the summer:

Camille
Blue Valentine
Legally Blonde

New series: 7 Days of Shar Peis!

2012-07-13T21:14:00.001-04:00

To celebrate me working with pups and grown up doggies, I've created a new series:

7 Days of Shar Peis!

This adorable wrinkly breed is independent and very relaxed. However they can be silly and fun like any lab or pug! Come back each day to see a new video of adorable sharp-y's doing their thing!

Thanks for following along for the 7 day Euro Series! Views are off the record and I'm excited to come out with new material. Let me know what else you want me to put online!

Settle Down Update!

2012-07-13T11:42:00.003-04:00

Quicky update on what No Doubt has been up to before the launch of their video next week Monday. SO EXCITED for the behind the scenes below.

I totally called it in my last post: Ska influence ftw!!

yay!

#7 European Folk: Noah and The Whale

2012-07-12T15:09:00.001-04:00

Have you ever listened to Dog is Dead or Paper Lions? This band is like a combination of them and the Cinematic Orchestra if it were stripped down to an acoustic guitar, some drums and accordian, a fiddle and a few other instruments.

Ok that was a horrible description, but they're pretty awesome. They're the most popular act I've posted in this series. I admit it, I posted three British acts in a row. Sue me.

Head bob to Life Goes On below

Aren't they just adorable?

Listen to Joccasta below!

I like them. I'm definitely adding them to my summer playlist.

Take a look at all of my posts from this series here!

Stuff I liked this week: GIRLS GIF EDITION!

2012-07-12T14:24:00.005-04:00

I'm obsessed with Girls and anyone that's gotten through the first 3 episodes always claims to be a die hard fan.

I have liked Girls themed gifs, stills, videos, quotes, outfits, interviews...it's endless and I wanted to share it with you.

Check out Toronto fashionista where I've been writing a full outfit series on Girls! http://torontofashionista.com/

#6 European Folk: Jonny Flynn

2012-07-12T00:06:00.004-04:00

Today/tonight's artist is another British artist and is actually a related act to Marling from yesterday's post. Jonny however has lighter sounding songs but when you decipher the lyrics you'll find a deeper meaning. Plus he's adorable.

Listen to The Box below.

Bonus: Listen to a duet with Flynn and Marling!
