Fronde Anywhere included in recent 2009 Mobile-Banking and Smartphone Forcast.

Fronde Anywhere has been included in a recent report by Research and Markets, titled '2009 Mobile-Banking and Smartphone Forecast: Essential Strategies for a Fast-Growing, Evolving Market'.

Now is the time for U.S. financial institutions to invest in mobile banking. American consumers are hungry for better ways to monitor and manage their money – and mobile banking will serve that need better than any other banking channel by providing always-on interaction and real-time financial information. Though mobile banking is in its infancy, Javelin forecasts that it is on a trajectory to evolve into a mainstream banking channel that will serve nearly half of mobile-phone owners by 2014. This report:

- Features Javelin’s five-year forecasts for mobile banking usage; the growing availability of mobile banking at primary financial institutions; and smart phone adoption, which currently is driving mobile banking.

- Analyzes five key factors fuelling adoption of mobile banking, including the role of the Apple iPhone and other smart phones and the race to develop basic thin client “wrapper applications” that integrate into the institution’s mobile online site.

- Identifies five key obstacles for mobile banking and outlines how financial institutions can minimize them.

- Examines mobile-banking penetration by the largest wireless carriers, with AT&T Wireless boasting the greatest number thanks largely to the popular iPhone, while Verizon lags behind but is positioning itself to expand its role in mobile banking in 2010 with the planned introduction of the iPhone and faster LTE 4G networks.

To find out more or order the report click here >>

Javelin Strategy & Research

17 December 2008:

Fronde Anywhere included in recent Javelin Strategy & Research Report.

Fronde Anywhere has been included in a recent report by Javelin Strategy & Research, titled 2008 Mobile Banking Security Standards: Three-Part Strategy Will Increase Consumer Adoption While Protecting Banks’ Assets

Security concerns are the single biggest factor inhibiting consumer acceptance of mobile banking. These concerns are as much a matter of consumer perception as they are of reality – so getting both right will be key. The volume of attacks on mobile banking systems is negligible in the still-nascent and fragmented market that exists today, but will rise as adoption builds, and in particular, as operating system consolidation and platform standardization increases. With a well-designed security program in place, mobile has inherent safety advantages that make it one of the most protected channels for remote banking. It can be used to improve overall (cross-channel) security via the inherent speed-and-notification advantages of always-on, always-present mobile access. For now, build on the diversity of platforms to maintain confidence that malware isn’t likely to infect consumer devices, but be aware that emergence of standard platforms will erase today’s advantage in the future. Included in this report is a review of the security of mobile banking vendors: ClairMail, CPNI, Firethorn, Fronde, Harland, Jack Henry, mFoundry, M-Com (marketed by Fiserv in the US), Mobile Money Ventures (MMV), Monitise Americas (marketed by Metavante in the U.S.), MShift, Tyfone, and Yodlee.

For more information about the report, and to learn how to purchase, please click here

TwoSecure Momentum Release

19 May 2008:

Fronde Anywhere sees uptake of mobile two-factor authentication solutions.

Fronde Anywhere, a global provider of mobile financial services and multi-factor authentication solutions, has reported significant uptake of its mobile two-factor authentication platform, TwoSecure™. Since the product’s launch in April 2007, TwoSecure™ has been deployed by organisations in a range of sectors. Customers include a tier one French bank; a major Australasian telecoms provider; a German financial Institution; m35 in the UK; and an electronic payments switch for verification of online debit payments. It is also currently being piloted by a district health board for verifying doctor identities when accessing patient records. The product line is available through Fronde Anywhere global partners Logica and CSC, and regional partner RSSS in South Africa.

Many of the TwoSecure™ user organisations have implemented this solution as a more user-friendly and cost-effective replacement for hardware tokens for their identity authentication requirements. The TwoSecure™ product line generates one time passwords (OTPs) via a Java application stored on the mobile phone. It also includes an SMS module to enable delivery of OTPs to the phone via a text message.

TwoSecure™ secures Internet banking transactions and login by eliminating the risk of third parties assuming the user's identity, while TwoSecure™ Enterprise gives employees a second level of authentication when they remotely access business networks and systems. By also preventing man-in-the-middle attacks, the platform mitigates against threats such as Trojan.Silentbanker, a Trojan horse that has the ability to steal confidential financial information by defeating traditional two-factor authentication measures.

“By giving businesses confidence in their network security, and consumers’ confidence in online banking, TwoSecure™ addresses a clear market need. It has an extensive sales pipeline, including significant prospects with banks and enterprises in Europe and the U.S.,” said Caroline Dewe, CEO of Fronde Anywhere. “Not only is it easy to use, deploy and roll-out, but its uses are practically limitless. We are now also seeing organisations looking to use this technology to further secure transactions at the point of sale.”

TwoSecure™’s transaction signing capability adds an additional layer of security to a transaction, and prohibits any third party to hijack a transaction, as the OTP used by the customer is useless for any other transaction other than the one intended. The solution, which can be configured to support incremental levels of security, has passed independent security audits, performance testing by IBM, and device testing by SQS. It can be offered on hosted software as a service basis or implemented direct.

TwoSecure™ has won several prestigious industry awards including Consensus Software Award 2008, HiTech Award - Innovation Category 2007, Technology Commendation Award 2007 and IBM Business Partner Award 2007.

Press contacts for Fronde Anywhere
Natalie Shamshoum
Metia
Tel: +44 (0) 20 3100 3655
Email: natalie.shamshoum@metia.com
Or
Alisha Benson
Metia
Tel: +44 (0) 20 3100 3739
Email: alisha.benson@metia.com

Consensus Award win

8 May 2008:

Fronde Anywhere wins leading Australian software product award.

Fronde Anywhere’s TwoSecure™ solution was the only New Zealand software product to win a 2008 Consensus Software Award, one of Australia’s most prestigious technology awards. The Awards recognise innovative software products with both the proven performance and the market potential to succeed internationally. All entrants must undergo a rigorous judging process which includes shortlisted nominees presenting to a panel of 10 international judges from a range of disciplines.

The Consensus judges said:

“TwoSecure™ is an exciting new product with the potential to replace the myriad of token generating devices popular in the operation of many popular Internet and private enterprise remote access applications. Based on any java enabled modern mobile phone, it has the opportunity to enable "one stop" access without replacing any of the security systems already in place. Instead of carrying several tokens to access Internet banking, or enterprise VPNs, this solution could effectively support effective token generation on an individual's familiar mobile phone.”

Fronde Anywhere’s entry was supported by IBM’s business partner teams in Australia and New Zealand who have contributed significantly into the international success of TwoSecure™ by providing validation for the product’s performance via access to the IBM Innovation labs for performance testing and benchmarking.

Caroline Dewe, CEO of Fronde Anywhere comments that “we see this technology having the potential to change the face of the identity management industry. With banking regulatory bodies around the world starting to mandate that banks implement some form of multi factor authentication in order to protect customer’s identities and funds. TwoSecure™ is ideally placed to meet a very strong and growing market need."

The winners were announced in Sydney this week.

About the Awards

Now in their ninth year, the Consensus Software Awards identify the most innovative software designed and developed in Australia and New Zealand. The Awards are endorsed and supported by Austrade, NZ Trade & Enterprise, the Australian Computer Society and the NZ Computer Society. IBM and Microsoft are the major Sponsors. Bartier Perry, BDO, Hudson and PIP are co-sponsors. The Awards are judged by a panel of over 50 independent judges who can chose as many or as few Awards as they wish based upon the three main criteria of Innovation, Performance and Potential. In 2008 only nine awards were given out.

About Fronde Anywhere

Fronde Anywhere’s current awards include: Consensus Software Awards 2008 – Winner; 2007 IBM Business Partner Award for Industry Innovation, Winner; Foundation for Research, Science and Technology 2007, Technology Award Commendation; Hi-Tech Awards 2007, Finalists in Innovation Category; TUANZ Innovation Awards 2007, (& KiwiBank) “Mobile Application of the Year”; Financial Innovation Awards 2007, Best Direct Channels Initiative - Mobile Phone; TUANZ Innovation Awards, short-listed for the during its first year of operation.

Fronde Anywhere offers mobile financial services and multi-factor authentication solutions for retail banks and the wider financial services industry.
TwoSecure-announcement

4 February 2008:

Fronde Anywhere pilots TwoSecure™ mobile authentication solution to German financial institution.

Fronde Anywhere’s mobile phone based multi-factor authentication solution, TwoSecure™, is currently being piloted by a leading German Financial Institution.

TwoSecure™ is a simple, user-friendly solution which generates one time passwords (OTPs) by using an installed and downloaded application that runs on a mobile phone. The product was designed based on feedback from the banking sector. It provides banking and other financial institutions (and their customers) with an additional method to prevent online banking fraud and identity theft. TwoSecure™ is a cost-effective alternative to hardware devices such as keyfob OTP generators.

TwoSecure™ can be configured to support incremental levels of security, and can protect users from viruses such as Trojan Silent.banker.

The product’s user experience is initially being trialled by bank staff who are using it to gain remote log-in access to the organisation’s corporate networks and business systems.
TwoSecure™ has passed independent security audits, is available in multiple languages and can be customised to reflect the branding of each organisation.

29 January 2008:

Fronde Anywhere mitigates against Trojan .Silentbanker.

Trojan .Silentbanker is a sophisticated new Trojan that has the ability to steal confidential financial information by defeating two-factor authentication measures. The Trojan can perform man-in-the-middle attacks and intercept transactions without the user knowing.

Fronde Anywhere’s award winning multi-factor authentication solution, TwoSecure™, can be configured to support incremental levels of security, and can protect users from Trojans such as these by a unique security feature known as Transaction Signing.

TwoSecure™ is a simple, user-friendly solution which generates one time passwords (OTPs) by using an installed and downloaded application that runs on a mobile device.

Transaction signing adds an additional layer of security to a transaction, and prohibits any third party to hijack a transaction, as the OTP used by the customer is useless for any other transaction other than the one intended to do.

Using the TwoSecure™ product gives Internet banking customers confidence that no third party can impersonate them and provides Banks with protection against non-repudiation for online transactions.

For more information about the TwoSecure™ product please contact us.

BusniessMobile Announcement

21 November 2007:

Fronde Anywhere enables businesses to bank on the move.

Fronde Anywhere delivers mobile banking solution dedicated to small businesses.

New York and London, 21 November 2007 – Fronde Anywhere, a provider of mobile products for the financial services and corporate sectors, has today launched MobileBusiness as part of its flagship suite, making it easier for businesses to maintain control of their cash flow while on the move.

With BusinessMobile business managers can make payments or view account information – via a secure application stored on the mobile phone – wherever they are working at the time. BusinessMobile can also be configured to send proactive notifications that deposits and payments have been received, or reminders to authorised persons to approve a payment. It provides a secure alternative to business internet banking.

“Cash management is a front of mind for small to medium businesses,” says Jacob Jegher, senior analyst, Celent. “Using a mobile banking solution focused on this segment allows banks to add increased value, and improve service to this key target segment of customers.”

Fronde Anywhere has recognised that businesses have additional banking needs to retail banking customers, such as the requirement for built-in workflow for payment approval. BusinessMobile ensures that only designated staff can access or transact on business accounts. The solution supports tiered levels of access and authorisation including dual authorisation of payments.

“Small businesses do not have finance departments handling payments to suppliers, or chasing up overdue accounts – usually it’s the business owner who does this,” says Caroline Dewe, executive vice president, products and marketing at Fronde Anywhere. “Slightly larger businesses may have an in-house accountant but they still require involvement from business managers to authorise a payment before it can be processed. BusinessMobile will send the approver an alert enabling them to log in and approve the payment on the spot.”

The information services available to BusinessMobile users include functionality to view company credit card balances and statements in real time; manage funds in multiple currency accounts; view balances; and receive various alerts and notifications. These include notifications when a deposit has been received, and alerts when payments over a certain value are made on a company credit card. Payments services include the ability to transfer funds; enable dual authorisation of payments; approve batch payments; make a one-off payment; and receive text notifications for payments awaiting approval.

In addition to these services, user experience, branding and service options can be aligned with the organisation’s own brand – differentiating its business mobile banking solution from competitors’ offerings.

BusinessMobile can be implemented as a standalone solution, or on a shared platform with the bank anywhere retail banking modules.

Click here to read more about BusinessMobile

About Fronde Anywhere

Fronde Anywhere offers mobile banking, payment and two factor authentication solutions for retail banks and the wider financial services industry.
TowerGroup Report

14 November 2007:

Kiwibank included in TowerGroup m-banking report written by Bob Egan.

TowerGroup's latest report titled "US Mobile Banking Forecast: 2007-2012" references Kiwibank as a case study of a financial institution launching mobile banking applications .

"With mobile device penetration in the U.S. at an all time high and market dynamics shifting, mobile banking is finally poised to thrive," said Bob Egan, Chief Analyst at TowerGroup and author of the research. "Consumers view their phones as trusted devices, even more so than their desktop PC. This perception will help fuel the adoption of mobile banking among non-online banking users."

Many US financial institutions are launching mobile banking applications or gearing up to do so. In this Research Note, TowerGroup combines research on the market for mobile banking with its earlier research on the online banking channel and mobile technology to forecast US consumer mobile banking usage from 2007 to 2012. Besides looking at the similarities and differences between the start of mobile banking and the evolution that has occurred in online banking, the report discusses today's mobile environment and the likely impact of mobile banking on other delivery channels.
