Eoin O’Sullivan takes to the stage later this month playing multiple characters in The Sailor’s Dream by Jack Harte, which tours to London, Dublin, Longford, Mayo and Leitrim this February and March. Through story and song, history and speculation, this play tells the intriguing story of the Franklin polar expedition, and takes the audience on a voyage of exploration into the enigma of Lady Jane Franklin. It’s 1850 and five fierce young women escape the famine on a ship bound for Australia as they leave Belfast in search of a better life. Confined in close quarters in the belly of the ship on a tumultuous sea journey, their homeland secrets are revealed, enemies made, and it becomes clear that no matter where they go, there is no escaping the dark pasts they carry with them…

Rebecca Grimes is currently onstage at The Samuel Beckett Theatre in Eastland.

Directed by Anne Bogart and written by Jocelyn Clarke, Eastland explores how we remember and why we forget some terrible events but not others. The Collective Theatre’s new show uses storytelling, found objects, and live performance to recreate the events before and after the sudden capsizing of the passenger ship SS Eastland in front of thousands of people in the middle Chicago.

Warts & All – Danny McCafferty – Irish Film Festa – Rome

Starring Frontline’s Danny McCafferty in the leading role of Aron, Warts & All, the acclaimed directorial debut from Pat Shortt, is screening at the Irish Film Festa, @irishfilmfesta, in Rome, March 26th.

Aron, a single thirty-something, attempts to navigate falling in love, while trying to hide his insecurities. He wrestles with his longing to fit in and being true to himself, unsure whether the real him is too much for anyone to love.
