"OUIJA" - HASBRO first horror

Released on 24th of October, the movie "OUIJA" marked the pre-celebration of Halloween with thrilling horror spiraling around Hasbro supernatural board games. Directed by Stiles White, Ouija climbed on top of U.S box office with the gross of 20 million.

Tomatometer rated the film with 10 percent and 39 percent of the crowds loved the movie. (Awfully low if you asked me). Meanwhile 4.3/10 ratings were awarded by IMDB based on the review by 1107 users on the site with the metascore of 38 percent. I know... numbers give you the headache, so let me simplify things for your sake. The ratings were constant below average so yes, you can go and see the movie (I'm not judging), but don't expect too much. I know many of you love to scream your heart out in cinema, so this is one of the movie which gives you the opportunity to do so. Appreciate the scare and the haunting images and boys... this is the chance to let the girls hold on to that muscular arm of yours.

They caught Number One in Malaysia...
Number Two in England...
And Number Three in Kenya...

This is the second time somebody ever includes Malaysia in their story. Although one was written by Zombie Extraordinaire himself as a setting for the first population wiped by zombie outbreak, and this time it's alien slipping through our fingers but still... there're something to be proud of (i guess...). At least there's somebody out there who still know there's a place called Malaysia on the face of earth. I wonder whether James Frey and Jobie Hughes should get Dato' title for this... What do you think Zombie E.? Lost Faerie? Should they?

Well, I'm not going to spoil this movie for you but let me break the reviews out there down for you. "I am number four" had gain 30 percent of tomatometer (applause, applause!), C- in yahoo movies, and 6.5 gold stars in IMDb, thus summing it up to an average movie to watch. But personally, I kinda like this movie. I might've hate the way those Mogadorian freaks were acting but I kinda enjoyed it. So people, zombies, vampires out there who are still hesitating to watch the movie, please knock yourself out and you won't regret it. (Nod, nod).

5 Reasons Why I Like Scott Pilgrim.

1. The movie is basically written in pop-culture language. Grungy music, comic books, video games, ex-boyfriends, awkward teens, martial arts...I just can't seem to hate any of that.

2. Unpretentious. Though the script and dialogues are very shallow (as expected) but Scott Pilgrim does not try to preach nor teach you any lesson, which is great. I hate movies who has things blowing up on the screen but try to cram lessons down your throat at the same time. Scott says what needed to be said and does what needed to be done. No extraneous, exhaustive dialogues.

3. Visually daring. It's very colorful and there's always something cool to grab your attention that pops onto the screen every couple of seconds. A stylistic approach that is so bizarre but works surprisingly well. That's the reason why we love our video game and animes...right?

4. Quirky. From mystical powers that involves evil hipster chicks to vegan with psychic powers, the movie keeps us wondering what will Scott fight next and the thing he does in order to defeat the evil exes.

5. It's frenetically fun. This is the movie where all rational thoughts are dead. It's perhaps the closest any filmmaker has come yet to translating comic book material directly to the movie screen. No logic required...because it is just comic book, when does comic book ever need logic. That's why they invented them in the first place...for the fun of it.

Those are my top 5 reasons why I like Scott Pilgrim.

Xperia X10 pinch to zoom?

SE just announced that they are working really hard to bring such feature to the Xperia X10. Omg that's really lame, with all the technologies SE still lacks pinch to zoom feature which almost every top bracket smartphone posses nowadays.

My advice, stay away from the Xperia X10. It is not a good phone anyway. It just lacking in every aspects that todays market could offer you. There are loads of better android phones out there.

If you're an apple user, and also blogs, these two apps would certainly worth a try. BlogBooster and BlogSpace are two great apps for blogging on the apple device. That is, if you don't want to jailbreak your device.

BlogBooster features a complete blogging tool with rich text and pictures support via Picasa integration. The free version does not support multiple account posting.

If you're looking for something simpler then the BlogSpace is indeed the app you'd want to check out. BlogSpace also features Picasa integration with an option to embed YouTube videos into post.

Both apps are available for free on AppStore.

PSP phone

It's been a while, I know. But no matter, I decided to make a comeback and talk to you guys about great stuff. Lets get straight to the story.

Finally the PSP phone is coming to light after so many years. The phone, manufactured under the name Xperia play will pack a 4inch 854×480 LCD display, 8 megapixel camera, single-core CPU running at a maximum 1GHz, 512MB RAM and of course the slide-out PlayStation style controller.

The Xperia play is reported to run Android 2.3 operating system with some Sony Ericsson customization. Besides the tech specs, not much is known for this phone. Xperia play release date is still pending.

Damn! This is huge and the news practically made me to open up a whisky; you know, just to make sure that I’m not dreaming. Roland, a character from the "The Dark Tower" series by Stephen King is under consideration to be on screen for a movie trilogy.

Recently, Imagine Entertainment and Weed Road were having a negotiation with Universal about this; which also considering a spin-off TV-series. Imagine’s own director, Ron Howard is under consideration as the director, which in my opinion is a really big burden for him. There’s a lot of fan out there Ron, almost the entire population on earth and imagine that you had to carry the hopes of these people to make the movie works. What if you fuck up and everything a mess? This entire population of fan will surely bang you for at least 22 years without miss (I guess there’ll be an hourly holiday just for the sake of mercy, LOL).

Well, The Dark Tower + Universal Picture + Roland = Magnumest Opusest!

Us three had been caught up into something, and it drags our attention away from this beloved blog. And here for this reason I would like to make a special announcement regarding this matter.

Frosted cigar production will be paused for a while until we've settle a few things up. However, in complementary of this inconveniences, when the blog is finally revived, we promise to bring you new things, with helps of some new suggestions by all of you. Lost Faerie is Cupid

Hello...I’m back! And this time I ain’t ‘Stupid’ anymore. Someone told me that the little fellas whose shooting people around are called Cupid not ‘Stupid’. Well I don’t really care though…because it still rhymes. Haha…So, are you folks ready to get started with the new project as I promised to you guys in my last post? So, let’s don’t waste more time…

Okay, for this project, you will need white glue (I can’t find where I put the bottle so I used UHU stick instead of white glue), terracotta art-clay, gold dust, metal ring, paint and lacquer (alternative: clear acrylic spray or clear nail polish as what I used).

Shape the clay into your desire shape (heart shape is a good one because we are doing this for Valentine’s day)
After you’re finished shaping the clay, make a tiny hole through the clay.
Then place the clay onto an oiled cookie sheet, and dry them in a 200 degree oven (please make sure the clay is harden enough)
Once the clay is dry and hardened, paint with any desired colour and allows the paint to dry. Don’t have to be thorough because we will dab the clay with gold dust.
Before applying the gold dust, cover the clay with white glue just to make sure that the gold dust perfectly glued to the clay.
Let the glue dry. I then coated the entire surface with clear nail polish.
You can then put a metal ring through the hole that we’ve created earlier.
If you wish, you can thread a ribbon or cord through the metal ring.
Tadaaa…the finished product.

You can give this to your love one as a pendant or as a cell phone charm. What a lovely gift isn’t it? Well then, have a great day ahead. Wow! It’s February. Valentine’s Day is coming guys…So, start planning something nice. Hmmm… Just for once, I want to be like that little fellas with the wings. I think you all called them 'Stupid'. I might need to find some arrows and bow and start aiming and shooting people around. Ahaha…That’s sound fun.

Well, right now I’m thinking some new projects for Valentine’s Day. I should start searching for needed material too. So, wait for my next post ok? I will try to make sure that I post an interesting project. Oh no, Lost Faerie will get lost again. But don’t worry I’ll be back…

Let's get out of mainstream for a while shall we? For all of you post apocalyptic aficionados out there I would like to bring to your attention to an amazing zombie short film.

Directed by indie director Matt Simpson and co-directed and starring Joseph Luke Avery, Plague tells a story of a migrant who is a gun runner as well traveling to London in order to have a fresh start. But he comes across the walking dead and it's a whole different game then.

This film looks really good; the make-up looks good, special effects are great albeit the small budget the film producer gets. The plot is solid, as well as the storytelling which somehow reminds me of 28 days later.

Well, I won't hold you back any longer, here's Plague.

You guys have any favorite zombie film by any indie director? I really like to check up on more from the indie scene.

It's Christmas and on behalf of the other writers of Frosted Cigar, I would like to wish you all a merry Christmas.

Since it's holiday, I'm going to post family friendly upcoming movies.

Alright, first, Shrek. I've covered this movie earlier this month, and apparently a teaser trailer has been released and floating around for quite some time. It's Shrek's final act (or so they say). Would you see this movie? I think it won't be much different than the other Shrek movies before this. But that does not mean it won't be funny anymore right? Kids will love Shrek and donkey return to the big screen.

Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, John Ratzenberger, Joan Cusack and Michael Keaton unite in Toy Story 3. This movie returns to the big screen brings more than just a promise of great animation (it's a Pixar), it also brings back memories. I remember watching the first Toy Story when I was eleven and now about 14 years later I finally get to blog about it. How's that...just looking at the number of years is enough to make me feel old. The trailer has been around since June but anyway here is Toy Story 3. Are you excited about it? I have mixed feeling about this one because lately sequels and remakes just don't work anymore. Just hope Toy Story 3 delivers just as I remember them to be.

Last but not least is the remake (uh-oh) of Karate Kid. I'm disappointed in Will Smith. Why do he has to rely on Karate Kid's name? I mean this movie is nothing like Karate Kid. The setting is in China, and that is already confusing because there is no Karate in China. Well, maybe there is but when you mention China, Karate probably won't even cross your mind. I've watched the trailer over and over again trying to make sense of this movie. Can't they just rename it to something else and drop it with 'karate kid remake'. There are a lot of movies out there that use the same formula as karate kid but surely they don't claim to be sequels or remakes. Will you see it? What do you think of the whole 'remake' thing?

Math with faerie!

What?! You don’t believe I can do math? Here…I have a simple equation for you guys who do not believe that fairies also can do math. The equation:

Festive seasons + school breaks = wedding ceremonies

Simple enough? Ahaha...wedding ceremonies are one of important ceremonies that fairies need to attend. It is time to create the magical moments especially for the married couples on their big day. Yup! Time to spread those fairy dusts!

Wedding gifts are the most common way to congratulate a couple for their marriage. There's no need for it to be expensive, just simple and neat will do. So, it's not about what things that are given as a wedding gifts, but it's how you wrap for it to be neat and pretty. So here I will show how to wrap a simple wedding gift. What you need are scissors, wrapping paper, sellotape, double-sided tape, ribbon, stickers and of course your gift.

First, cut out wrapping paper according to the size of your gift. Here, I used the whole wrapping paper.
Before you start wrapping your gift, fold a few layers at one side of the wrapping paper to create the look of paper fan (please measure and determine the correct position of the layers so that it will look nice on top of your gift).
After you are finished creating the layers, you can start wrapping you gift.
For the finishing look, add a ribbon on top of your gift. The position of the ribbon is up to you. As what I did, I put it at the left top side.
This how you gift will look like…

Oh, I forgot, for the mini card, I cut a red colour paper (9cm x 15cm) and fold it into two. Next I cut another paper (blue) into 8.5cm x 7cm. Then, I put a few stickers on top of the blue paper and add on some glittering glue here and there. Later, I glued the blue paper on top of the red paper (front side).

I hope this simple tutorial is useful for you guys and for those out there who wants to share any tutorials on how to wrap a gift in simple, nice but creative ways, feel free to leave a comment and share it with us and the others.
