As my bridal salon exploration continues for Frosted Pink Weddings, I’ve noticed I have been able to immediately distinguish the unique differences each has to offer as soon as I walk through the doors. And the minute I walked through the doors of The Bridal Collection, it was clear to me why they call it a, “Collection”. This salon has something for everyone! There is every kind of dress short and long, every kind of color, every kind of bling, every kind of simple and for every kind of occasion. In fact, even if you are just on the prowl for a cocktail dress, I recommend the whimsical, unique and even straight forward dresses at The Bridal Collection.

Located in the Denver Tech Center, 8101 East Belleview Avenue, Suite G, it’s hard to believe this bridal salon, now circulating 100’s of dresses, only started with 16 wedding gowns! The Bridal Collection is operated and owned by a mother and daughter who strive to offer something more pleasant than the experience they had shopping for their own gown. And yes, indeed, a pleasant experience it is.

One key element, in my opinion, that makes anything more pleasant is convenience. So I find it conveniently pleasant–and soothing- that the alterations department is right there in house. During my visit, girls of every size and height were scattered about, being fitted by top of the top seamstresses that are carefully selected by the Bridal Collection. Along with the many bride-to-be’s and the vast amount of dresses and brands to choose from (see the brands they carry at the Bridal Salon), I also noticed they have an amazing line of accessories to personalize your assemble with -which, by the way, is a repeated trend mentioned by all salons I’ve visited so far. So why not add a color, theme or trend to your wedding party and make things fun! One trend I hadn’t heard yet (mentioned by Andrea Richardson, Sales Manager of the Bridal Salon) is that lace has sprung up in popularity again post Catherine Middleton’s stunning wedding gown.

With a staff as passionate as the Bridal Collection (special thanks to Andrea Richardson who kindly showed me around), who understands your individuality, paired with the array of accessories, you will have no problem finding something that personalizes you. Before becoming an employee at the Bridal Collection, Andrea bought her dress there. I can see why. I highly recommend perusing this bridal salon and seeing what you find. This line is Lazaro from New York – who is known for attention to detail. These dresses lean toward Hollywood glamour by using details that jump out at you (details such as fresh water pearls and/or 100% real quality stones are often used)

I love the Marilyn Monroe-ish dress in the middle for a cocktail dress!

You might be a rock star if you walk into a party wearing this! This one will have any beauty glistening and all the boys listening!

~ What inspired you to start your business?

When planning my own wedding, I became discouraged at the lack of vintage resources available for brides that wanted to add a vintage feeling to a portion or all of their wedding. I thought the traditional cycle of buy and attempt to resell was burdensome for brides and made the entire process more difficult. As a result, I started A Vintage Affair Rentals with an eye towards providing brides with the option to rent vintage items and add that special, timeless touch to their weddings.

~ Describe your product and what you sell?

I rent everything from blue mason jars to, rustic table numbers to vintage furniture. I pride myself on finding those unique touches that take weddings, bridal showers, photo shoots and other events to the next level. I love providing those little touches that guests remember for years after an event.

~ What is your favorite product that you sell?

Probably my cake plates. I have spent a long time accumulating my current collection and I love their versatility. From cakes to cupcakes and other food items, a couple of staggered cake plates are a small touch that everyone loves.

~ Your Favorite part of a wedding?

I love the idea of two people sharing a timeless love. That’s the biggest reason that I like to integrate vintage items. I think they’re a great reminder of things that have stood the test of time.

If chic, fun and positively memorable are all in the list of adjectives you seek in a bridal salon (while searching for a great wedding dress of course), then girl, have we a bridal boutique shop for you!

Nestled in Denver’s lower Highlands (1575 Boulder Street), Anna Bé Bridal Boutique flourishes with positive energy and brides-to-be. It is anything but boring and when I got there at 11 a.m., girls were lined up at the door. If you can imagine walking into a double story, Victorian showroom festooned in modern black and white decór, wooden floors and a beautiful T-shaped staircase leading up to a second floor of plentiful dresses, then you just got a glimpse of Anna Bé Bridal Boutique.

Anna and Breanna, both young business owners of the bridal salon, are an inspiring story of how two people made a great idea come to life based on having a poor wedding dress shopping experience themselves. Their mission now is to make your experience the best and no doubt-it shows. The place is visually pleasing, has classy dressing areas, filled with dresses to choose from and has up to 10 busy, compassionate staff members-and your personal fashion designers- running the joint smoothly.

Wondering what’s the latest trend in a wedding dress? These professionals say straps are coming back, white (as opposed to off-white) dresses are back as well as blush colors, textures on the dress and belts, too. Anna Bé Bridal Boutique’s style is simple, modern and fashion forward- so if you don’t like all the bells and whistles that come attached to a loud dress (much like I), this place is definitely your style.

From Anna and Breanna….the best advice to any bride-to-be shopping for their dream dress: 1) Be open minded about your dress. Often you will leave with a dress that is totally different than what you originally had in mind. 2) Be kind to yourself and embrace your curves. Don’t exhaust yourself by over-shopping 3) Bring nice critique’ers- ones who aren’t downers and know how to be honest nicely.

Planning a year ahead for your wedding day may seem like over kill, but believe me, you’ll be glad you did. Less room for error leaves more room for a great day and Frosted Pink Weddings wants to help you. We’re always looking for great vendors and advice out there that helps make your wedding day be the best. Starting with the dress! The best part, right ladies?

For a month, Frosted Pink Weddings is personally visiting a few select bridal boutique salons in Denver to share with you their story and brand, what’s in style and any other advice that might help you land the right dress.

I felt an instant trust in their fashion forward knowledge and ability to help choose the right style of dress for anyone. The most popular style now, I was told, varies every week but Colorado in general goes for the more classic, traditional look. Furthermore, Felicé bridal tends to lend to ages 25 and up.

Remember that whatever you customize to your dress becomes your own

and is never duplicated. In which case you could say… the most popular style is your very own.

For the financially-conservative brides-to-be, the W2 bride line is an affordable alternative and still very adorable!

Judd Waddell dresses are light-weight and clean, but also known for having intricate lace-work. His dress cuts are body conscious and often finished with a cute bell flare-mermaid shape

For a tailored, clean or classic look accessorized in feminine feathers, go for Romona Keveza

Christine and Adam are hosting their awesome wedding this summer at The Lazy J Ranch in Wolcott, CO. These two are just the cutest couple! One of the most important things to these guys was they wanted their guests to really have a feel for Colorado, they wanted their wedding to be fun, and of course beautiful. Lazy J Ranch has all of that and more!

A Unique Way To Invite Your Guests

Since the Roman days, brides commonly carry handkerchiefs on their wedding day. The significance of the handkerchief has carried different traditions and meaning, but my favorite was the belief among early American farmers. They believed that the tears of a bride are considered to be lucky – in their case - that her tears would bring rain to their crops. Because many brides carry handkerchiefs on her wedding day to wipe away happy tears, we thought it a sweet delicacy and an effectual idea to use printed handkerchiefs as invites for your wedding.

Visit, Couture Lucky Luxe Correspondence and browse through a collection of eye catching invites, including the handkerchief. A fun idea to consider. You might also be interested in doing what the Irish call, the “magic handkerchief”. This tradition is when the bride's handkerchief is later sewn into a baby bonnet for the first child. When that child marries, the stitches are taken out and used as a handkerchief again – so think of something fun and meaningful to print on your invite and make it a heirloom to pass on to your children!

Emily and Robbie were married at The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch in August 2010. I loved Emily's vision of fresh, crisp and modern, but in the mountains! Her reception consisted of two long tables with an aisle of different height candles and no flowers. The crystal chandeliers hung above each table and the small tent was draped with white drape and a warm amber uplight... beautiful!

2011 ICON Gala Awards

Frosted Pink Weddings has been nominated as one of the top 3 finalists for BEST WEDDING (OVER $75,000)!

This anticipated event honors the best and brightest professionals in the special events industry. Every year since 1999, individuals and companies who are involved in the production of special events, have been invited to submit entries to the magazine of their most outstanding achievements during the year.

Entries are taken to Aspen where a panel of judges carefully evaluate each one to select award finalists in 13 categories. Finalists are chosen based on creativity, originality, and overall integration of elements and execution of an event or service.

One Step Closer... (Steps 1 Thru The Day Of Your Wedding)

Step one...finally taken.

On this overcast winter day (in Colorado at least), I get to talk about a topic that brings sunshine into any girl’s life: the day she is asked for her hand in marriage. A few blogs ago I interviewed Skyler, a groom who gave us a male’s perspective on wedding planning. Skyler said that for a guy, the pressure of asking the girl for her hand in marriage takes precedence over the actual wedding day. Which I find funny because if you asked me, I believe it’s opposite for the girl. If a man popped me the question in a box with a fox, in a house with a mouse, in a car with a bar, over here, over there, could I would I be perfectly excited anyway, anywhere? Yes. To be honest, the only thing I ever dreamt of was the part where a guy gets down on his knee. I suppose that means texting the proposal is not an option. At least for me….

In the next few weeks, we are going to share how some of our featured female clients and friends were asked. Starting off with my very recently engaged girlfriend who lives in Santa Cruz, CA. I happened to be in Krista and Jeremy’s life when they first started dating about a year ago. As for the proposal, Jeremy was telling Krista for two months that he wanted to go on a plane ride over the Monterey Coast with her for fun. Krista had no idea of Jeremy’s true intentions. I happen to know that Jeremy held on to her ring for 6 months before the big day….and well, the pictures tell the rest of the story.

Congrats on your engagement, Krista and Jeremy!!

About 2 years ago I discovered my passion for photography arbitrarily. My friend in the military, who was deployed in Iraq, had asked if I would send photos of anything green. So I did…and thus began my passion for this wonderful outlet. I say it’s wonderful because not only photos, but videos, too are time capsules that freeze and capture the memories that matter to us most and trigger our emotions. They are brilliant ways to keep our experiences and recollections around forever. It’s even more brilliant when you find a professional photographer or videographer who gets that. That is why, when I see talent, I share them with others.

Recently, Kelly introduced me to M. Todd Thiele Photography. His work reflects what I consider a professional you can trust as your videographer and/or photographer. Besides his compelling ways to tell your story embedded in a seamless video and his photography that stimulates a feeling without using words, he’s made a video that ends with an affirmation I try to remind myself at least once a day….“I need to pause more often”.

1) How do you know Frosted Pink Weddings

“I first met Kelly when I was shooting some test footage during a wedding my assistant and associate Matt Alberts was shooting with Kelly at The Ritz Carlton. I’ll never forget the day for several reasons. Kelly was very ill but powered through like a trooper and we also ran over a Canon 5d Mk 2 with a pink 1957 Ford Thunderbird convertible while filming. I’ll can still remember the awful sound it made. The camera and a very expensive lens were in a million pieces. Stuff like that is hard to forget”.

2) What’s the funniest thing you’ve caught on film at a wedding?

“The more than occasional nose pickers in the wedding party during the ceremony. They average around age six. There is always some stuff that never sees the light of day. Audio can also be rather amusing. At least to an outsider”.

3) What is your video style?

“Documentary, to a certain degree, in the fact that we let things happen as they may. But there are times when we do step in and suggest something in hopes of achieving a certain outcome or gesture. We do this with the family and friends of the B&G as well as the B&G. You never know who may be the costar of the movie. A friend of mine and a great photographer, Keith Carter, told me ‘you must make uncertainty your friend’. This is what makes our work fun”.

4) What type of coverage do you offer?

“We have a handful of packages but most every couples needs are different. We will customize any package to meet their needs”.

5) What is your story telling approach?

“We like to tell the stories behind the more obvious story. This can be anything. Little quirks about the B&G. How they met. The influences in their lives and how those people made an affect in their relationship. There is always something beyond the obvious. I think this is what makes a great cinematographer today. Being able to hack out of a jungled mess of footage and craft a story worth telling for generations. Our goal is to leave the viewer feeling like they know the B&G and the kind of love they share and how their wedding day reflects that love”.

6) What do you do to make sure that movies are unique to your client’s personalities?

“Every wedding is unique. There are so many personalities and tales to tell. It’s so easy to include the same type of shots that have worked in the past but if you stay in the moment and remain open to new ideas you can create something new and fresh almost every day on the job. This applies to photos and cinema”.

7) Are there other questions a person should ask when considering a videographer?

“Yes. Ask them if they have worked with the photographer you have hired. Traditionally, and in most cases, the photographer is hired first. I didn’t make the rules. It’s just the way it is and the photographer usually has the upper hand on how any allotted time the couple may have for photos/cinema. This is where you really want a video/photo team who is familiar with each other. It’s like dancing with someone for the first time. There are going to be some toes stepped on in the beginning but as long as you know who is taking the lead something beautiful will happen”.

8) Have you ever done coverage for a high-end clientele or a celebrity? If so, who?

“I’ve done the wedding photos for one of the Broncos and Kathy Sabine of Channel 9 weather fame but no videos of anybody famous, yet”.

9) How do our readers contact you?

A Groom's thoughts on Wedding Planning

From the moment a little girl sees Cinderella to the days she becomes a young lady, it’s no secret, she dreams about her wedding day. The perfectly fitted wedding gown that trails her in silky waves, walking an aisle of fragrant rose petals toward her prince charming standing before a scenic backdrop, the long awaited kiss and cutting the beautifully tiered wedding cake accented in flowers and ribbon at the most triumphant of receptions. The girl has it all planned out in her head, but what do you suppose runs through the groom’s mind?
To ensure both the bride and groom’s dreams come true as they begin their magical journey, Frosted Pink Weddings decided to take the guessing out of the equation and asked the groom to share his most intimate thoughts on the big day:
1) Going into it, what was your ideal wedding?
For me, and I think this goes for most men, the actual wedding never really crossed my mind. The pressure for a groom, in my opinion, lies within the engagement with the girl. But to answer this question, Kelly [Owner of Frosted Pink Weddings] has the most brilliant quote…. It echoes what a groom’s mind thinks: “She dreamed of a wedding of elaborate elegance. A church filled with family & friends. She asked him what kind of wedding he wished for, he said ‘One that would make her my wife’"
2) Kelly said you were a little hesitant about the idea of having a wedding planner. Why? (Post the wedding, were you glad you had a wedding planner and why?)
I was originally hesitant to have a wedding planner for two reasons. One was to save money. From the moment we were engaged, my wife, Kristin, seemed to have it all planned out in her mind. At the time she had a part time job and I kept asking myself, do we really need more than 20 hours a week to plan? I was fairly confident we could do it ourselves. Even more so, getting married is already a very overwhelming process for a guy to muster and I was afraid we’d end up having a bossy woman telling me what to do. As it turned out, having a wedding planner as invested as Kelly was an invaluable asset. I was relieved we had her. I would not be doing this interview had I not been. Kelly developed a trusting relationship with my wife and both our mothers. Particularly on the day of the wedding it is wonderful to have someone who knows every detail to help everyone feel calm and comfortable. Further, through Kelly’s resourcefulness and strong relationships with her vendors, she saved us not only time in researching quality vendors, but also money with the right choices for the wedding that we wanted.
3) What were your biggest fears about your wedding day?
My wife and Kelly worked very hard, down to every last detail. I was more than confident that everything was going to be great. My only concern was having an outdoor wedding in October. If the weather did not hold out, our plan B was to hold it indoors and I really didn’t want to do that.
4) In your opinion, what stands out as being the most important aspects of a wedding?
The most important aspect of a wedding is two fold. The most important aspect is our union before God, our family and friends. Secondly, is the celebration that is right for you. It was absolutely the finest day of my life and having so many people who we care about there to share in our marriage was easily the best part. Hosting a great party to celebrate was definitely a priority for us and I think that with Kelly’s help, we hit a grand slam. People still call us just to thank us for having them.
5) What do grooms really want to see their brides wear?
It’s funny, because I never even considered how profoundly important the dress is to a bride. It was amazing to me how much the dress is such a gigantic ordeal. My wife could have worn anything and didn’t make a difference to me. I wanted to see her wear a dress that made her experience as special as the time it represents. She has dreamed of that dress her entire life and it was important to me to support her in that, although she would be beautiful and fitting in anything.
6) For all the best men out there that have not a clue where to begin in helping the groom....can you relay some of the Groom's duties for them?
For all the grooms out there, I can say this: I firmly believe that the groom needs to select the best man with great consideration. The best man is the captain of the groomsmen. These guys play an important role not only on the day of the ceremony but beyond. I expected these guys to come alongside me spiritually and emotionally, not only on the day of the wedding but prior and forever. The responsibility of the best man and groomsmen is to make sure that the little details and stresses of the wedding day never hit the groom’s desk. They surrender the entire process to the groom and whatever he might need. This day is not about anyone but the bride and groom. I expected my guys to behave nobly and take care of me, but more importantly the bride and her bridesmaids. From making sure that getaway transportation was arranged, running last minute to the store, to being the life of the party, the best man needs to coordinate anything that might have been leftover. In all, the best man needs to make sure this day is as special as the people who are being celebrated.
7) Do you have any advice for all the grooms out there regarding the wedding process?
The advice I have to offer a groom is to not be afraid to have an opinion. Your wife wants you to be invested in this special day and wants you to be happy and a part of things. When there is an opportunity to interject, don’t be afraid to do it. On the contrary . . . relax. In a lot of ways your wife has it handled. Last but not least, soak it up . . .your wedding day goes by fast and it will be the best day of your life, but it’s up to you to make it the best.

A Touch of Royalty

Happy couples fascinate me and I always find myself wondering what magic sparked the flame that moved them to pledge their eternal love to each other. It is the same wonderment and fascination that draws me to the engagement of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Perhaps it’s the atypical pairing that intrigues me the most. Contrary to custom, the Royal family did not select or approve this unusual coupling; one person being royalty and the other not. Despite the fundamentally different and seemingly incongruous lifestyles, Prince William is committed to the woman who is fun and makes him laugh and without hesitation, Kate replied with a yes to the man that’s always been more than loving and supportive under these unconventional circumstances. I think that’s pretty cool.

Would you like to hear what else is pretty cool?

Kate’s parents may not be a royal king and queen, but let’s just say they are very well off and know a thing or two about party planning. They operate their own mail-order company, Party Pieces, based in England. The array of (mostly) disposable pieces includes 60 party themes for kids, classy and sassy party goods for adults, unique gifts and essential cooking goods. Check out their website! The exchange rate is not great, but it is filled with cute logos and ideas that you may want to use for one of your own events or weddings! As experts for party ideas, it will be neat to see what know-how party planning they bring to Prince William and Kate’s wedding.

The engagement ring is also the talk of the tabloid. More stunning than anything, its strikingly beautiful sapphire stone is bounded by 14 dazzling diamonds resting on an 18 karat gold band (which translates to 75% pure gold). Furthermore, the ring has a history. It was originally Princess Diana’s engagement ring and after her death, Prince William kept it under his own protection for all these years. If you are anything like me, and would like a unique engagement ring that stands out from the rest, check this baby out! It may give you some ideas.

Speaking of new and fresh ideas…Kate Middleton is fast becoming a style icon. If you are a soon-to-be-bride, take note of some the fashion ideas put on her. Kate’s navy blue $625 Issa London engagement dress has not only received a lot of attention, but is also sold out. Rumor has it Issa London will also be her stylist for the wedding gown. Stay tuned for this masterpiece!

Last (but certainly not least!), I was taken back when I read that Prince Harry of England is planning a Hip-Hop soiree for Prince William’s engagement party…possibly starring Snoop Dogg and Tinie Tempah, another non-traditional pairing. Now that’s an engagement party I would like to see!

So there you have it. Follow my blogs because there will certainly be new updates in the unfolding of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s taking the plunge.
