We have to admit we love seeing a cute nautical theme, but this set of images caught us hook, line & sinker (couldn't resist the pun)! Hopeless, a lingerie label from Melbourne Australia, has unveiled their latest intimates collection with an adorable red, white and blue nautical look. Seriously, we're in love. From the fresh-faced model to the fun props, the new items are displayed in such an appealing setting. But the icing on the cake is the designs themselves...the 'Ellen' halter bra with the foldover on the cups, the 'Meadow' blue & white jersey knickers, the 'Cassidy' Liberty print bralette, the blue ruffle 'Chrissie' halter top and so on. Each piece is so special and really stands alone in terms of its style.
This is the 3rd range for Hopeless which is titled "The Voyage" (based on Steven Speilberg's "Jaws" film), "taking inspiration from the sharks teeth, the blood in the ocean and the waves of the sea" according to the label's designer Gabrielle.
All items are made to order, and can currently be ordered through the Hopeless Etsy site (and if all goes as planned, you will see the brand at the Faire Frou Frou boutique this Spring 2010).
We're sure after seeing this collection it will have you singing "Hopelessly Devoted to You"!

True, this blog is dedicated to luxury lingerie...but it's also unofficially dedicated to the style of burlesque superstar Dita von Teese. We can never resist a post about Dita, especially when it involves a gorgeous editorial spread in Harper's Bazaar (Russia). The only lingerie in this shoot is the bra she designed for Wonderbra, and of course the sexy stockings. The John Paul Gaultier bodysuit/dress has a definite lingerie appeal, but we're not entirely sure what to call it. Nonetheless, the results are striking and beautiful. Don't you just love the Christian Lacroix images!

We can't think of an editorial in which the same item is shown in every single image, and yet here it is! In the January 2010 issue of Vogue Paris, Laetitia Casta wears the striking (and Madonna-esque) John Paul Gaultier green bullet bra in every picture. We love the color...but this style is so exagerrated compared to the typical vintage styles that we've enjoyed (or at least it appears to be). In any event, we love the different looks that are created around this one striking piece. This is truly a lingerie-as-outwear look! Now, who's going to wear it?

ID Sarrieri - Fall 2009

Ahh, ID Sarrieri, what a beautiful lingerie brand. We often compare this label to La Perla in terms of its classic, elegant and upscale style...and perhaps it's even more high-end (that's open to debate). In any event, it is one of the world's top lingerie lines that is simply striking.
We have carried the brand at Faire Frou Frou in the past (see some sale items here), and we wish we were selling the new Fall collection as shown above (but issues with our temporary boutique closure aren't helping matters). Not only are the pieces so beautiful, but the photographs are amazing as well. Nothing but the best from this Romanian lingerie line.

On December 5th, the official Sonia Rykiel pour H&M capsule collection launches in approximately 1,500 H&M stores worldwide. This is the first holiday collaboration for Sonia Rykiel (who we have carried at Faire Frou Frou) and the first designer lingerie collection for H&M. We're curious if this will be as big as the H&M Jimmy Choo launch...but then again the masses seem to be much more devoted to their designer shoes (and we completely understand that, being shoe lovers as well as lingerie lovers).
We're most excited to see the footage from the runway show that will take place at the Grand Palais in Paris on December 1st. Just looking at the sneak peek in the video below has us very excited to see the end result!
According to the Sonia Rykiel pour H&M press release that was sent to us:

Seduction starts at home with pieces in fluid velvet, silk and satin, offering a luxurious approach to loungewear, while separates feature Rykiel’s signature multi-stripes and strass. Playful accessories including brooches, headbands, pillows and slippers complete the collection. (we love that!)

This shoot, by Karl Lagerfeld for ELLE Italy, was inspired by the works of surrealists artists Man Ray and Salvador Dali. Of course we spotted some lovely intimates, such as a tulle bustier by Nina Ricci, a fashionably retro girdle by Christian Dior and a lilac satin guepiere by Gaultier Paris. The images are sophisticated with just the right touch of quirkiness. We love how the shoot was accessorized, from the opera-length gloves to the fun headpieces. Andres Sarda is always a fun brand for us to keep an eye on because of their semi-annual runway shows. In the lingerie world there aren't too many Fashion Week runway shows (we're talking large-scale like Chanel, Christian Dior, etc.), so when we see a designer like this pull out all the stops, we're excited! Andres Sarda debuted its Spring 2010 collection, consisting mainly of swimwear, at Madrid Fashion Week back in September. The pieces are inspired by the French Riviera during the 1970s, which we definitely see in those navy/white striped swimsuits!
Some of the lingerie pieces reminded us of Christian Dior...not a bad comparison! See the rest of the collection here.

This has to be one of the cutest sets we've seen in a while! The lingerie in this post is actually a limited edition set created for the 70th Anniversary of British lingerie label Rigby & Peller. Inspired by pieces in their lingerie archive, this adorable frilly hi-waist panty and bullet bra are among only 150 'Platinum Range' sets created by Rigby & Peller. That might explain why only sizes 30C-34DD are available...but the panty is still available in S, M & L. Naturally a company with 70 years experience would create something so adorable, eye-catching and reminiscent of the past. Luckily for Rigby & Peller, this style is exactly what so many customers are buying today!

Underneath It All

As beautiful as it is, lingerie can be a bit complicated. How to measure the correct bra size? What's a guepiere? How do I wash this bra? What's a Brazilian cut panty versus a Tanga? All of these questions, and many more, are answered in an adorable new lingerie guide: Underneath it All.
The book addresses everything you ever wanted to know about lingerie, and things you didn't even think to ask! It details the history of lingerie, a glossary of terms, how to correct common bra issues, what to wear for bridal, what to own in terms of essentials, and so forth. It also includes a listing of the best lingerie boutiques across the country...can you guess who was included in the best California boutiques? Faire Frou Frou, of course!

Heidi Klum is the face of photographer Rankin's newly published book titled Rankin's Heidilicious. The two have worked together over the past several years and the multitude of his photographs of Heidi are an expression of what she really is like. From the 20 or so pictures we've seen in the book, there are a lot of shots of Heidi topless, or covered in chocolate. We were hoping for more pin-up or lingerie...
We have a feeling that our favorite image is the one at the top of this post!

In this 'Style Noir' shoot by Paolo Roversi, Lara Stone models several lingerie looks for Vogue Italy. This is essentially a look you can create by simply pairing stockings with a garter &/or garter brief, and then style your hair and make-up accordingly!
The lingerie in this shoot is an assortment of Dolce & Gabbana, La Perla, Agent Provocateur (hosiery) and What Katie Did (one of our faves that we plan on getting more stock!).

It seems like more and more editorials are featuring lingerie-inspired looks, so it only seems natural to see it featured in the December issue of UK Harper's Bazaar! Considering that we weren't fans of Victoria Beckham's Armani lingerie ads, we are pleased with the outcome of this shoot. From what we can gather, the lingerie in these images are a combination of vintage and Dolce & Gabbana and What Katie Did. Much like our last post (with the ballgowns), these pictures were taken in such a decadent, beautiful setting!
PS - We like the idea that the 2-tone hosiery makes your legs appear smaller. We might give those a try!

What's so funny is that when I first looked at these gorgeous gowns, all I could see is what great lingerie each piece would make. At the root of each piece is a beautiful bra, don't you agree? Actually, the first gown is quite obviously topped with a guepiere, but the other dresses have a definite lingerie-inspired bodice. Or perhaps I just have lingerie on the brain!
Lingerie aside, what a gorgeous setting for this photo shoot. Of course we would expect nothing less from the great Mario Testino!

Chantal Thomass - Fall 2009

If you have traveled to Paris, undoubtedly you have seen or shopped at the Chantal Thomass lingerie boutique. Chantal's landmark store showcases her semi-annual collections, including the gorgeous Fall/Winter pieces shown above. We particularly love that she teamed with famed photographer Bruno Dayan to create the dazzling images at the top of this post. In fact, you can view the 'making of' video on the Chantal Thomass website documenting the photo shoot with Dayan (these videos always make us appreciate the images even more).
We wish we offered Chantal Thomass at Faire Frou Frou again, but sadly it is no longer available in the U.S. Perhaps you will just have to take a trip to Paris to pick up some of the latest pieces...not a bad reason to travel!

Naughty Fashionista - Bordelle Lingerie

We think Bordelle has perfected the art of the high-class, bad-girl lingerie ensemble. Bordelle balances naughty with sophistication, and a touch of S&M with class. Don't you agree? Their website is now showing images from the Spring 2010 collection, and normally we don't show images so far in advance, but if the designer is doing it we wanted to as well!
You will find some of the above pieces in the lovely Faire Frou Frou in just a few short months, so in the meantime you can start putting aside a Bordelle fund! This is a couture lingerie label that is handmade in a London atelier. The attention to detail is stunning, as well as the concept and design of each piece. Bordelle is really one of the standout new labels in the high-end lingerie market (much like most of the brands we carry). It truly has a style that is like no other, and we applaud their creativity! We also love the quality of their images for the latest collection; that really makes a difference in creating a brand's image.
