The Pretty Bra That Fits... Claudette

With so many designers it can be overwhelming to find good bras that make you feel sexy no matter your cup size. Claudette is our pick of the day for bras that give support, comfort and still make you look good. Using a softer wire in their bras, it is comfortable and doesn't constrain. Claudette is never shy to use bold colors and their sheer Dessous mesh range is sheer up to a G cup. What's special about the Dessous bra is that it has a 3-part design unlike most bras out there. As a lover of sheer bras myself I couldn't resist getting one... or three of my own when I started working at Faire Frou Frou. I can proudly say that I adore my Claudette bras. They are fun to wear and give me the lift and support I need. Having been featured in magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Lingerie Insight and Vogue, it's obvious we aren't the only ones attracted to this exciting brand. With their Spring/ Summer '15 line we fell in love a little bit more with all of the new enticing colors. Baring It All... In Front of a Camera?

In honor of Faire Frou Frou's new sister company bŏu dōir we want to talk about Boudoir Photo Shoots! Whether it's something special for your trousseau, an anniversary gift, or something fun just because, a boudoir photo shoot will always leave you feeling sexy and empowered. I'm sure many of you are thinking, "I could never do that" and that is just not true. Boudoir photography is a way to capture yourself in time whether you're 25 or 90 and make you feel youthful and sexy. As for your "problem areas" the photographers always know the best angles to make you look absolutely irresistible. With so many routes to go it can be hard to choose a theme for your photo shoot. Should it be colorful and fun? Classic in black and white? The decisions really are endless. My personal style favorites include, big sexy hair, some killer heels, dramatic lashes and a lot of lace. I also love when women include personal items such as their mans button down or tie. Maybe even his favorite team's jersey. The most important thing about doing a boudoir photo shoot is making it personal and just having fun with it! Plus who doesn't love playing dress up?!

Let the Sunshine In: Celebrating Timpa Lingerie!

One of the many great benefits of working at Faire Frou Frou is every time I walk in the door there is always something new for me to fall in love with. A couple weeks ago was no different as I was greeted at the front door by a new bra and panty set from the Timpa Duet collection, which reminded me of a ray of sunshine. To describe the color as just “yellow” does it no justice, the color is truly inspired by the sun making it all the more perfect for Summer time. The set consist of the Timpa classic unlined underwire demi bra designed with patented airy crochet lace. The Duet demi bra offers a beautiful cut that lifts and shapes without padding. The panties are available in either a traditional thong or bikini brief, designer with the same soft and airy crochet lace.

The company was originally founded in Holland and designs bras specifically for smaller bust line (A, B & C cups).

Of course, the Timpa Duet collection comes in a variety of eye-catching colors which we change throughout the year. Some of our favorite hues are featured above (Nectarine, Lilac and Pool). Though we also carry the classic everyday colors of White, Black and Nude.

Where We've Been & Where To Find Us!

We are long overdue with an explanation for where we've been! Team Frou Frou Fashionista hasn't disappeared, we've just been spending our time elsewhere, as explained by the above list. We are still going strong with our Boutique (both in Studio City, CA and online), and certainly keep busy on social media. Almost daily, new images are posted to Instagram and Facebook, and new inspiration is constantly to be found on BOTH of our Pinterest pages (there's one for each of the co-owners, Gail and Alison).
In the past couple of years, our focus has shifted from reading & writing blog posts to searching for eye candy and images that would otherwise be on this blog, and that's why we love Tumblr. You get all of the beautiful images, without any discussion (our preference!).
All of that being said, we encourage you to follow us on all of our newer social media platforms! We have so much to share, and want you to be up-to-date on what we're excited about when we're excited about it!

Japanese Lingerie Brand N.SENS

N.SENS is a lingerie brand recently established in Japan and designed by Seina Takasaki. The brand produces intimates that skillfully blend Japanese aesthetics with French sophistication. The items featured here fall into two groups; Lilith and Ninfea. Lilith is the more glamorous group featuring bras and panties with delicate lace overlay. Ninfea appears geared toward a younger, more playful customer.
Though N.SENS appears to have limited distribution at the moment, we expect to see the brand to gain a worldwide presence in the forthcoming months. We can't wait to get our hands on that gorgeous Lilith set featured at the top of the post!

Arsenic et Vieilles Dentelles (A&VD) is a Belgium-based lingerie brand established in 2013. Its concept is one that we love at Faire Frou Frou and in that it "likes to imagine that the Lingerie is more than a clothing, it's a second skin, it's a real fashion accessory which acts as a beauty product with which women can compose, can have fun, express their personality and being able to reveal their own sensuality." The designer behind the brand is Laure Hurlet, who utilizes her family workshop in Belgium creating all natural fabric pieces. The collection featured here is called "Eat Your Little Pea" and features simple, yet provocative designs (each named after a pea, such as Mushy Pea Garter, Split Pea Thong, Black-Eyed Pea Bra, etc.). Carine Gilson - Luxury Lingerie Fall/Winter 2013

How could we possibly overlook our favorite pastime on our blog, which is featuring the latest designs from Carine Gilson. Each season we think Carine's work is the height of luxurious perfection, and then another group comes along and 'wows' us. The Fall/Winter 2013 collection has a definite Japanese influence, or at least that's what we're seeing. Granted, Carine Gilson has consistently featured decadent kimono in every season, but the structure and simplicity of this season has a more precise Asian flair.

Looking through these images makes us feel pretty lucky that we kept a few Carine Gilson pieces for ourselves when we used to carry the brand at our boutique. The quality and beauty is just as swoon-worthy as ever, and just as much of a splurge. Is there any pricey piece of lingerie you own that you just had to have? We'd love to hear!

Olivia von Halle - Fall/Winter 2013 Shanghai-Inspired

The Fall/Winter 2013 collection for Olivia von Halle has an editorial campaign that equals the decadent inspiration for the designs. Inspired by the Art Deco movement in Shanghai, the collection includes satin silk pajama sets in rich jewel tones and introduces the new satin kimono style. The now-famous Coco style PJs (as inspired by Coco Chanel) is back this time in an ivory crepe de chine with purple piping. We love that Olivia worked with top Chinese fashion photographer Ele Jin to create this images along with the impeccable styling of ELLE China's Senior Fashion Editor Leaf Greener (it doesn't hurt to have top Chinese supermodels Miao Bin Si and Gao Ying wearing the goods either!).

We are thrilled beyond thrilled to finally represent *the* lady of burlesque Dita Von Teese at Faire Frou Frou! After much anticipation, and what marks the perfect partnership, the vintage-inspired lingerie brand Von Follies by Dita Von Teese is finally available for purchase at our boutique. We are big fans of Dita and adore her style, and proudly carry the collection of lingerie that is the hands-on result of her modern interpretation of vintage intimates. According to the Von Follies team "the range combines sophistication and sensuality with glamorous touches such as grosgrain and velvet ribbons, delicate eyelash lace, and control mesh to give the essence of the sultry 1950's pin up girl".
We are rolling out new collections every month or so at our boutique. The first to make their Los Angeles "brick & mortar" store debut are Her Sexellency and Leading Lady. Our favorite Madame X group arrives in September, and then plenty more AMAZING styles that haven't yet been released to the public are arriving through early 2014! Trust us, if you like what you see here it gets even better for Winter 2014 (ie Her Sexellency coming out with more style options and also coming out in red!).

There's a lot of the Damaris Spring 2013 collection in there because it just looks so amazing...the purple and the bright orange/pink are definite eye-candy! There's also the bright orange Marlies Dekkers Society bra that is stunning on every person who has tried it on. Of course we had to share some of our garden rose photos because our backyard is filled with blooms of every color right now!

Damaris - Spring 2013 Colorfest!

Damaris packs a punch with bright colors and spectacular designs in her SS2013 collection. Each group, named for a Greek god/goddess, is filled with customary over-the-top details that are customary for Damaris creations. A common thread seen in most groups is the use of fine silk tulle and beautiful French lace. Once again we see the return of the deep V-Plunge Bra, which has become a customer favorite (great for when you're wearing a low, plunging neckline!). Naturally we also see the return of the signature back cut-out panties as well as the cut-out back-tie panties. Almost every piece has a gold horseshoe clasp fastener. If you haven't had the pleasure of seeing in person or owning a Damaris design, you're missing out. It's a true luxury (handmade in a London atelier) that's sure to make you (and a lucky someone else) smile.

Monette Paris - SS2013

We are proud to introduce the latest and greatest in French intimate apparel: Monette. The designs featured here are from the debut collection for Spring 2013 which clearly look like pieces women will buy for themselves, and their lover will want to buy for them too! Probably the instant appeal of this label is due to the fact that the designer is Assya Hiridjee, the former designer for Princesse Tam-Tam and sister of the brand's founder. The name of the brand is the French nickname for the name Simone (we didn't know that!), and the designs are targeted toward the sophisticated and chic woman. Most of the debut collection is centered around silk, and Hiridjee indicates that “Monette is a new concept somewhere between lingerie and ready-to-wear."
We're very excited about what we're seeing here and hoping to get it in the hands of Faire Frou Frou customers very soon!

Straps, Bridles & Harnesses

It truly is so much fun being a part of a lingerie photo shoot, as was the case with these photos taken by the talented William Williams. Both he and model Holly Parker collaborated to create these striking images featuring lingerie picked up from Faire Frou Frou! What's always interesting is seeing how a given photographer selects lingerie from our shop and makes them come to life with distinct style and personality in their work. We were very impressed with what William did here!
Probably most of our lingerie fans recognize the Bordelle Tutu Waspie, which was perfectly paired with a Tamzin Lillywhite pony ear bridle. Other pieces from our boutique include the red Lascivious Helena bra/panty set, the Lascivious Tyra cropped (strappy) top, and the Marlies Dekkers 'Leading Strings' strappy thong.

How could we resist sharing such an adorable pin-up story! In what is reminiscent of a Chantal Thomass lingerie campaign, photographer Marc Philbert has created an editorial filled with retro-inspired sweetness with a touch of suggestive bad girl behavior (in true pin-up form).

We love that each image shares the lingerie/clothing credits...far too often we don't get enough information! We've identified some of our favorite brands such as Fifi Chachnil, Wolford, Chantal Thomass, Princesse Tam-Tam, Gerbe & Eres (plus many more).

We just posted the new arrivals from Made by Niki on our website and have been chatting about it all week (if you follow us on Instagram, Pinterest or Facebook you may have already noticed). The Peplums collection for Spring 2013 is bright, cheerful, frilly and downright delightful. These pieces capture the essence of a beautiful Spring season and certainly are perfect representation of the word frou-frou! The colorway includes colors such as Barbie Pink and Canary Yellow, and includes new shapes such as the Shoulder Holster and the Bustle Panty. Of course we had to bring back the famous String Playsuit, this time in a dip-dyed two-tone pink. Just looking at these images makes us crave sweets...as it is, each item is like a delectable confection!

Belle Et BonBon is a stylish and indulgent lingerie brand from the UK. Beautiful lace, velvet trims, ruffles and bows come together in a tasteful and simple manner to create an elegant collection. We've kept our eye on this relatively new label and really enjoy how its evolved into something brilliant in just a couple of seasons. The new Spring 2013 designs are just our style, and we simply couldn't resist sharing two of our favorite images from the previous Winter collection. It appears that the brand is mainly available in shops in the UK (and various European retailers), but that likely won't be the case for long. We see worldwide potential for Belle Et BonBon, and can't wait to see what the next season has in store!

It's been far too long since we've featured Murmur on our blog, and now that the Spring 2013 Murmur collection is being released, we had to share! Murmur is a brand that designs outerwear that is lingerie-inspired...but one look at these images tells you that. The images above are from the latest collection called hellcat, which the designer wants to remind us means:

1. a. A woman regarded as bad-tempered and evil.
b. A woman who practices sorcery; a witch.
2. A person who torments others.

La Perla - Spring 2013 - The Leopard

Oh beautiful La Perla! Once again talented photographer Mary Rozzi captures the beautiful campaign pictures for the latest Spring/Summer 2013 catalog. The latest collection is inspired by the 19-Century novel "The Leopard" by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa. Unfortunately we've never read it...but from the looks of it, the designs were inspired by Sicilian noblewomen and the splendor of the Baroque period. As is customary for La Perla, each piece has a timeless appeal and features bows, lace and delicate embroideries. The La Perla fan will no doubt be inspired by this collection...we know we are!

Frou Frou Tutu Pom Poms - the Perfect Valentine's Accessory!

It seems that every year we decorate for Valentine's Day at Faire Frou Frou customers inevitably want to purchase our store decorations...they want to take a little bit of the frou-frou experience home with them. This year we anticipated the demand by creating the most adorable decorations and making them readily available for purchase (both in-store and online customers!). We are so excited to present the Frou Frou Tutu Pom Pom! These little balls of cuteness are made of tulle (in pink, light pink, white and shocking pink) and fastened with a 4' strand of pale pink double-faced satin ribbon. Nothing makes us happier than discovering beautiful new photo campaigns from our favorite lingerie designers! One such brand that rarely disappoints is French lingerie icon Chantal Thomass. The Spring/Summer 2013 images are vibrant, playful and certainly have us pulling out our credit card to start buying each piece. One of our very favorite images that has been floating around the web these past few weeks is the bow bra & high-waist panty (shown in nude/black). We *will* make sure we personally own that set soon.
Some of you may recall that we mentioned that Chantal Thomass would be returning to Faire Frou Frou this past Spring 2012. Unfortunately there were once again trade issues that halted that from happening. We were so excited at the possibility, and this campaign renews our hope that we will will once more carry the brand at our boutique in 2013.
