Update time!

When we left for vacation after submitting Leaf Catcher to the NOOK Color, we didn’t completely worked out all the bugs and kinks in the game. Now after a week of development, we finally submitted Leaf Catcher v. 1.4 to the NOOK Color store for approval. The Android update is also coming soon. And keep in mind that Leaf Catcher will be hitting the App Store next month too! So stay tuned for that; you won’t want to miss it!

Getting back into Game Dev

Hey all,

Haven’t updated in a long while so I thought I’d write something real quick. Our team is back from summer work and ready to get back into game dev mode. We’ve slowly been working on getting Leaf Catcher on the App Store and should be ready to submit soon. And we have a surprise game project coming in October, so you will have something new to look forward to then.

For now, we want to thank all of you for buying our game. The reviews have been mostly positive; some are saying the performance is a little slow. We are steadily working on that. But thanks for the support nonetheless.

Say, what are you guys up to these days?

That’s probably a question you’ve been wondering yourself. Now that we released Leaf Catcher to Android a month ago, you may have asked, “What is Frozen City planning to do next?”

Well that’s just the question we are wondering ourselves.

We did start prototyping a simple space asteroids game about a week ago and are planning to eventually turn it into an epic game for Android devices, and possibly iOS. But sadly, we don’t have anything about it to show you readers. Yet.

Also, just ‘lil bit of news. I (Mikale) will be out of town for 2 months, so I won’t be able to update the site or work on our projects. But I’ll be excited to get back to work on another game project after that.

Does the NOOK Color have accelerometer support?

One question that it took us a while to find an answer for when we were looking at the specs of the NOOK, was if it had an accelerometer.

After hours of searching, we found out that the does have an accelerometer, even though it was not on the specifications page of the product.

But before we found that out, we actually changed some things around in our game‘s code to make movement work by tapping the left and right sides of the screen instead of tilting the device. So when we found out that the NOOK Color did have an accelerometer, we were bummed that we put in all that extra work for nothing! But sure enough, it turned out to be good after all. A few if statements with the new and old code made it so it works both ways! So, if by chance you have an ancient device or some other case where your accelerometer doesn’t work, you can still play Leaf Catcher! Woo hoo! We will be pushing an update to our game to the Android marketplace with this new feature, plus we are working to get Leaf Catcher on the NOOK Color device as soon as we can.

Anyway, hope this helps anyone who was wondering!
