Frugal Is The New Sexy

Newport News Clearance

2010-06-17T21:55:00.000-07:00

I almost feel guilty for neglecting my poor blog, but the kids and I have had such a wonderful and busy start to the summer that I just don't. I did a pretty good job of stocking up on the basics over the winter that I've been able to get by with doing very little grocery shopping, aside from milk, bread, eggs and produce. My stockpile is slowly dwindling and it's time to get back to my bargain hunting routine.

Head over to Newport News if you're in the market for some great, summer clearance items. This hobo bag is marked down from $44.99 to just $14.99. Stop by Shop At Home first and receive 6% cash back and a $5 bonus if this is your first purchase through Shop At Home!

$10 Off $10 Purchase at JC Penney

2010-06-02T15:28:00.000-07:00

Head over to Shop At Home, type in JC Penney in the search bar, shop the clearance section for an item or two that total $10 or more, use promo code DADROCKS at checkout and get $10 off your purchase! You'll have to pay shipping, but it will probably be less than $5. Penney's has tons of stuff on clearance right now, like this great 3 piece fleece scarf, hat and glove set for just $6.99! If it's your first time shopping through Shop At Home, you'll get $5 deposited into your account. If you've shopped through them before, you'll still get 3% cash back on your purchase!

Clearance at Newport News!

2010-06-01T16:51:00.000-07:00

I don't often shop the internet for clothing because I hate the idea of having to send things back if they don't fit or if I don't like them once I try them on. However, if I find a deal that I just can't pass up AND I can get shipping FREE, I'm all in.

Head over to Newport News and shop their clearance section.

I ordered this schnazzy (is that a word?!) cocktail ring that was marked down from $19.00 to just $5.99! Many items are marked down 65% and some are marked down as low as 75% off. Here's what sweetens the deal even more:

Use promo code L42 to get FREE shipping on orders of $50 or more and use promo code 614 to receive 15% off any size order.

On top of THAT, shop through Shop At Home to receive 6% cash back on your purchase PLUS receive an additional $5 if it's your first purchase through Shop at Home! Nice, huh? Happy shopping, my friends!!

Bargains Galore!

2010-05-25T08:29:00.000-07:00

The kids are officially out for summer starting this Thursday and I have lots of summer projects lined up for myself while the weather is beautiful and time is abundant. I did some Goodwill shopping over the weekend and found some great bargains. Take a look!

We've been looking for a chair and ottoman to fill the open space in our formal living room for quite a while, but I just wasn't willing to spend hundreds of dollars on a new set. I found this set at Goodwill for just $29.99! Unfortunately, the fabric clashes badly with our existing furniture so I'll have to recover it. I'm willing to be patient until I come across a great fabric sale! Hopefully, I'll have some "after" pictures to share with you before summer is over!

I also found this filthy looking toy box. Looks grody, huh? Upon closer inspection, I saw that the structure of the toy box was sturdy and in great shape. It even has the nice hinges that prevent the lid from smashing little fingers. Some new padding and fabric will make it better than new. The best part? I paid $7.99 for it. I love Goodwill...

Computer Problems... Again.

2010-05-21T21:28:00.000-07:00

I've been amazed at the progress I've made with the computer over the past 6 months, but there are a lot of things I'm still unable to do. When my laptop decides to stop allowing me to connect to the internet I'm totally lost until my husband gets home from work. It drives me nuts to not be able to balance my checking account, work on my budget and, ahem... most importantly - hunt for bargains! I did get a lot of things done around the house today, so that was good...

Anyway, if anyone's interested in sending me a brand new, shiny laptop to review, I'm all over it. (=

I'll be back tomorrow with lots of great tips.

CouponChief.com

2010-05-03T16:03:00.000-07:00

As evidenced by my blog and many others, there is an abundance of great bargains to be had via the World Wide Web. I spend many hours every week scouring the internet to find those bargains for you and love when I find a site that helps me do my "job" more efficiently.

CouponChief.com is a great place to start if you're looking to do some internet shopping. There are many coupon code sites out there these days, but Coupon Chief offers many great features that make it worth a few minutes of your time before you make a purchase. Nearly every retail site offers an area on their checkout page where you can enter a promotional / coupon code. Coupon Chief is one of the best sites I've seen that has an easily searchable database of current coupon codes. There's even a section HERE where you can submit a coupon code to share with others! We frugal guys and gals have to stick together, afterall!

And, as if the satisfaction of sharing a great deal with others wasn't enough, you can sign up HERE to participate in Coupon Chief's Pays-2-Share Program. Just upload your coupons and, every time someone uses it, Coupon Chief will give you 2% of the sales!

If you're shopping for a specific item, just type it into the search bar to begin your hunt for a great coupon code. Or, if you'd rather shop by store, check out Coupon Chief's alphabetical listing. I wasn't able to think of a store that wasn't represented! Here are a couple of my favorites to get you started:

Bath & Body Works

Aeropostale

What do you think about Coupon Chief? I'd love to hear how you think it compares to other coupon code sites... Do share!
