Microsoft: HTML5 And Javascript Key For The Development Of Office 15

2011-08-04T00:15:00.000-07:00

The Microsoft case seemingly endless love with HTML5 continues, this time from Office 15, the next version of Office is probably due in 2012.

In Office 15, Microsoft to allow developers to use JavaScript to create HTML5 and add ons, plugins, and also to interface with the 365 Office and SharePoint.

Because Office SharePoint 365 and are generally labeled as services "cloud" that Microsoft provides HTML5 in applications that are to be filled, it is hardly surprising, but it is important that the company is on a kick of the unification of the product, something it desperately needs.

News HTML5 and JavaScript programming options for future inclusion in Office 15 development was revealed to ZDNet, which is referring to the ability of a number of job ads for Microsoft. Knowledge of these messages is a simple and effective way to flush out what Microsoft has long-term projects, without having to go through the jungle of PR.

According to an announcement of work "[The integration will JavaScript/HTML5] allow developers to participate in professional development by the Office platform as easy and enjoyable as the creation of applications for the next version of Windows!"

Sounds like a touch optimistic, but the concept is to be commended.

What does this mean for more traditional programming languages and frameworks are in use today? According to ZDNet:

Note that these messages do not work to make it sound as if Microsoft is retiring the VBA, VSTO or other programming tools of Office in the near future
There is little doubt however that the new focus is definitely on HTML5 and JavaScript as the preferred means to develop new programs and services for the next versions of Windows and Office. With the battle for the concept of Microsoft Windows 8 App Store, it is easy to see how HTML5/JS-crafted Office add-ons and applications could be integrated into any course.

The future of Office 15 is taking shape, but there are many more layers to be unwrapped before we can claim to have a good sense of its raw form. For now, we learn bits and pieces. Maybe in September BYG Microsoft will provide fresh insight.

Microsoft Announces The $260,000 Contest To Find New Approaches To Computer Security

2011-08-03T23:56:00.000-07:00

Today Microsoft has announced BlueHat security prices, which will provide $ 260 000 in cash and prizes at the event Black Hat USA 2012.

Microsoft claims that the award is to bring together "to produce new ideas for how to sustain a title defense." First prize takes home $ 200,000 in cash, $ 50,000 in cash in the second, third, and MSDN Universal subscription that the company has a value of $ 10,000.

The moment of creation of the price is not an accident, computer attacks worldwide increasingly common in the public eye, and more often of brass. Lulzsec and anonymously with their pranks, hacking and insecurity led to the forefront of the mind of the average consumer.

Microsoft, which acquired an interest in computer systems are secure and can afford cats (208 000 times its current level of cash), so the investment is worth the potential reward: an innovative approach to security.

Of course, the winners will be published on the case, Black Hat, Microsoft will offer a gesture more hidden way in the world.

Specifically competition "challenges security experts to design a technology implementation of new mitigation measures to prevent the exploitation of security vulnerabilities in the memory." The criteria for winning is innovation, with the most innovative project to win the top prize, according to Microsoft copy.

TNWmicrosoft like the move by Microsoft, as it should stimulate discussion, and perhaps some new ideas loose, but I think a slow way to find answers to big questions, questions that must be solved now, and maybe not in one year .

MacBook Air This Aggressive Challenge To The Ultra-Price Books

2011-08-03T23:47:00.001-07:00

With the abandonment of low-end white MacBook and the aggressive pricing $ 999 for the new MacBook Air, Apple has made its position more aggressively in the category of thin and light notebooks. This can cause problems for farmers trying to produce material competitive with Intel's Ultra specifications book, reports Digitimes.

The specification was developed by Intel Ultrabook to advance the mobile industry in the space super-thin MacBook Air. The call details of the resolutions to adopt a non-replaceable battery, the heat of dissapating metal chassis, solid-state storage and welded components in order to minimize the size and weight. This is very similar to how the MacBook air is constructed.

It is also a significant departure from the modular structure currently adopted by most manufacturers. This means that much of the manufacturing line Ultrabooks must use new methods, making them more expensive to produce than traditional laptops.

Reports from sources indicate that the channel, unless Intel was to reduce the cost of its processors, which represent one third of the total cost of a book Ultra potential, it is unlikely that manufacturers like Asus and Lenovo will be able to provide textbooks Ultra at or below the price point of $ 999 that the MacBook Air is currently a member.

Apple is engaged in low-cost version of the MacBook Air when it was introduced two years ago, and the versatile and cost-price versions of the Air that was announced last month, are the culmination of a year of refining and supply contracts.

The standard of the Book Ultra, by comparison, was introduced at Computex this year. Apple has a history to build a supply chain based on investments at the beginning of new manufacturing processes and very favorable agreements with suppliers, making it more difficult for competitors to produce similar products at competitive prices.

If the ultra-Books is gaining momentum, Intel may have to make some concessions with the new processor pricing Ivy Bridge, is because until the end of this year or in the first quarter of 2012. We will probably see the ultra-books on the market before Q2, so Apple is likely to approach the issue of 4 generation MacBook Air.

If the first ultra-Books are not able to compete with the price, the more likely that sales will stop in front of the growing popularity of air, which is now the best selling Mac ever. The real question is, how long it takes, the supply chain and manufacturing processes of other makers Apple's well-muscled lead.

Windows 8 to have Unprecedented Virtualization Prowess

2011-08-03T23:45:00.000-07:00

New information from criminal records in Windows 8 in hand, it seems that Microsoft was more than honest when asked for the next operating system produced risky bet.

Two reports, one of ITWorld, and the other to describe the features of Windows virtualization ZDNet 8, and if what they say bears in the future, Microsoft's operating system could be like no other before him.

Virtualization is only for reference, is distinguished in the ability of the operating system to run multiple "images" of the OS both on one piece of equipment. Each image is called an example.

Let's start with the inclusion of Hyper-V 3.0 for Windows 8 will be the first time this specific virtualization technology included in a standard version of Windows, in other words, a non-server construction. This question, when it creates the potential for virtualization in a scale that is unprecedented for Windows.

Even better is the explosion of MinWin in Windows 8. MinWin is the core of the core components of Windows operating system, in other words, the stripped version of Windows. He appeared in Windows 7, and started with Vista, Windows 8, but seems willing to take a much greater role.

Now, with the two together, greatly expanded and powerful virtualization with Hyper-V and access to MinWin, Windows 8 (at least some of its builder, probably the news of the company) have the ability to create a multitude of 'virtualized instances of Windows that individual programs have their own instigation.

ZDNet remember the following quote from Microsoft from 2009 that explains exactly what the company belongs to:

"The goal is to MinWin, when it comes to Windows 8 if all goes well, it is completely removed these features is to ensure that they have no presence at all. At the time, this gives the opportunity to get your desktop , Windows Server Core is responsible for the event ... Hyper-V, V3, the workstation is as small as possible, whether a potential attack surface of rack space and disk storage. "

This move seems to XP mode.

It's a story that takes place, but new construction of Windows 8 flight, and details of the depth break, it seems that Microsoft is not trying to reinvent the look of Windows, but also its foundation base. Sound off in comments, would this level of virtualization to excite you?

LinkedIn Profiles To Get Renewed, More Download PDF

2011-08-03T23:39:00.000-07:00

LinkedIn has updated their user profile today with a new look and new features. Among the changes are a new profile design, a checklist to help you create your profile and download the PDF Profile. The new look seems to be of life for all now you should be able to view your own profile.

One of the additions must be updated on a checklist tool that will give you reminders of the various features of LinkedIn and the actions you need to fill out your profile. The new checklist is presented in a little post-it on the right side, as shown below.

You are also able to recover public profiles in the form of PDF files, creating a sort of CV disconnected from your LinkedIn profile. This should make it easier to share information in your profile with a portfolio or to release it on an interview. This should also be useful for clients wishing to make a list of prospects.

The new look presents information in a more monochrome side with shadows on separate window, but feels a little more crowded for us. It seems that although the route is more attractive, it makes it a little difficult to read.

It seems to be a number of other minor adjustments in the design and layout of LinkedIn profiles as well. If you're a heavy user LinkedIn, what changes have you noticed?

Chavez In Venezuela Is Literally Running The Country On Twitter, From Cuba

2011-07-22T07:31:00.000-07:00

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez took the unusual step of using Twitter to rule his country, while receiving cancer treatment in Cuba reports AFP.

Tweeted Chávez already has more than 40 messages in your own chavezcandanga @ going to approve funding for a project to collect garbage in Caracas, plans to charge for a new park and the support of the national football team then played in the tournament America's Cup.

The Twitter account now has 1.8 million followers, Chávez to stay in touch with citizens, though he was physically unable to find in the country. It is believed that the Venezuelan leader took Twitter to stay in the headlines because it was unable to make their frequent television appearances.

Decisions of Chavez, there are small, some initiatives involving several million in the country:

In the messages earlier this week, Chavez organized Cabinet ministers and had a program to build public housing. He said he had approved the equivalent of more than $ 25 million for a garbage collection company new to Caracas, 51 million dollars for the state government and $ 37 million for the organization Frente Francisco de Miranda, which promotes efforts to transform Venezuela into a socialist state.

However, some are more gay message said the decision of the referees in a match against Paraguay Venezuela during the tournament in the United States of copy. Chavez said he was watching the game with Fidel Castro, who has accepted that the referee had made a bad decision:

"In my humble opinion ... They stole winning goal of the United States! And I hope that with this I do offend anyone! "

Chavez had surgery June 20 to remove a cancerous tumor and is now undergoing chemotherapy, although he does not know what kind of cancer it is and where it is located.

Google+ Reaches 10 Million Users In 16 Days. Want To Know How Long It Took Like Facebook And Twitter?

2011-07-22T07:16:00.000-07:00

Google+ had only 16 days to reach 10 million users. In comparison, both Twitter and Facebook has taken over 2 years of success this time, requiring 780 days and 852 days respectively.

Leon Håland kindly prepared this letter, which puts Google + with the growth of hockey stick at the point of view, compared with their counterparts in social networks:

Although there is no doubt that Google's growth + is impressive, probably also worth noting that he had a considerable advantage in both Twitter and Facebook, two of which have been zero - as a social network, as a brand. .. as a whole.

Google, on the other side has thirteen years of growth behind it and is one of the most recognizable brands in the digital world. He already had a user base through its mammoth abundance of products, so it is perhaps not so surprising that it could reap 10m users in about two weeks.

+ Google is believed to have reached 10 million users mark around July 13 and was doubled again after about a week. It has 20 million users in three weeks.

Google last attempt to create a social network seems to be the result, and which has received very positive reviews. Next Web readers quick survey conducted in early July, and found that two thirds of users had Google + Facebook, less than half saying that he hopes that Twitter. This was perhaps unfair comparison, because Twitter is a different beast from Google + Social.

But what about LinkedIn? We wrote earlier this month that Google + can actually be a greater threat to LinkedIn, as it is a Facebook or Twitter. For the record, LinkedIn was launched in May 2003, and has not impressed the members of the 10m mark until April 2007. It now has over 100 members.

Interesting statistics. It 'still early doors for Google + - will continue its upward trajectory, or begins to plateau when the hype goes down? Only time will tell.

The idea is that a simple check box to prove you're a member of a particular line, it helps others to know more about you. "Take The Next Web as an example," said Martin. They like the Internet? Tick. A They like to consume current that get-it-blog content, preferably in the celeb-phone-hacked-away? tick. Let's do it then! I'll show you the rest of the plane. "

HTC Prosecution Of Apple: "We Have Patents Enough To Make A Stand"

2011-07-22T06:20:00.000-07:00

Giant smartphone HTC of Taiwan is not going to make Apple's legal action against the company and asked that the company is fully prepared to fight for the Cupertino company with the patents on their own, the BBC says.

HTC CEO Peter Chou, who reacts to the U.S. International Trade Commission ruling that the company had violated two patents Apple iPhone, a smartphone provider believes "quite patent to make a stand," actually warnings from Apple that could use newly acquired patents for the purchase of the S3 Graphics to use against the manufacturer of device IOS.

Chou said that even the lawyer thought HTC ICC executives did not violate patents for Apple.

If the decision is not revoked, Chou said that HTC is "confident that [is] a strong case" and that "war" in the smartphone customers should be fighting for market innovation, not through the courts.

On July 15, Apple earned at least a partial victory in its patent lawsuit against HTC, with the U.S. International Trade Commission ruled today that HTC violated two patents for Apple. The judge who ruled on the ITC to the provisions of the initial decision that HTC has violated two patents of the 10 involved in the trial, according to a company statement.

HTC promised from the beginning that he would appeal the decision, Grace Lei, HTC's general counsel stating "HTC vigorously fight these two remaining patents through an appeal to the commissioners of the ICC to take the final decision."

The case dates back to the ITC for the registration of Apple on July 12 that is applied to imports from the rest of the tip of a series of devices like HTC HTC Incredible Droid, Droid Incredible 2 Wildfire, myTouch 3G T-Mobile, T-Mobile myTouch Sliding 3G-enabled T-Mobile G1, T-Mobile G2, Evo 4G, Air, Desire, hero, Connect, Inspire 4G, 4G, Evo, Thunderbolt, Thunderbolt 4G, and tablet Flyer HTC.

Apple said the unauthorized use of several patents, the basic units on demand, including patents for operations scroll, rotation and scale on the touch screen and touch screens used in the instrumentation of vehicles, to prove his allegations. It is also the one that refers to "portable" and one that is too one-sided pressure-sensitive panel.

If the HTC is not able to annul the decision could mean trouble for HTC and the eventual cessation of imports of these devices, said Florian Mueller patent was, "this could be the worst case, lead to the closure of many or even all of HTC Android-based products in the U.S. market. In less extreme cases, "Mueller said:" The HTC may remove some features of its products, and can cause significant degradation of the user experience and quality of these equipment. "

It could also affect any Android device manufacturers, not just HTC. If software patents are not material and relevant to the Android code base common to all manufacturers of these devices depend to operate their products, Mueller said that the consequences could be catastrophic for the entire Android Market stating, " Apple may soon be in a strong position for a ban on imports of tens of device manufacturers. "

Android Now Makes It Easier For Developers To Support Multiple Devices

2011-07-22T02:47:00.000-07:00

One of the frustrations that the fans and developers of Android is that it is sometimes impossible to deliver an application that works on all Android devices. What makes a person tick can make the second break, and that fragmentation has led to some developers, even the effort to cover all devices.

With today's update to the Android Market, the frustration must be tempered a bit like Google now allows for multiple files APK support for the same application.

With the support of multiple APK, you can now download multiple versions of APK for a list of unique products, with each facing a different subset of customers. These are full and independent APKs APKs that share the same package name, but containing the code and resources to meet the different versions of the Android platform, screen sizes, or texture compression formats GL. When users download or buy the application, we chose the Android Market APK right to offer based on the characteristics of the device.

This last sentence is important - "Android Market APK choose law." Not only should enable developers to add more codes and should provide a good experience for users of Android at the end.

In a time when growth Android continues to explode, it unfathomable that there are certain basic units that have not some of the most important programs. The lack of Netflix for Galaxy 10.1, for example, is an infuriating saga shows no sign of an end. Although the latter team news Android might not solve everything, it could certainly be used to make the situation easier than it was in the past.

Apple Has Served More Than 1 Million Copies Of The Lion In 24 Hours

2011-07-21T23:17:00.000-07:00

If yesterday was the day of the Lion, so today is clearly a "holy crap, that's a lot of band" days. Apple has just released a PR statement of the Lion has been downloaded more than a million times in its first day:

"Leo is a great start off, and review of industry's reaction is fantastic." - Phil Schiller

Of course, Leo is a fairly large operating system. With a load of improvements and changes in Snow Leopard, the parties have been confusing to some users, but we find many features that you'll love.

Please note that these are real sales, installation is not numbers. Apple very clearly says "one day, over a million users to buy and download the Mac OS ® X Lion", so Apple is not numbers or the upholstery installation torrented Gold Master.

You still have not jumped ship yet? Our own Matthew Panzarino a massive scrutiny OS X Lion, you can read by clicking here.

Now, numbers are fun. Apple moved 3.6 petabytes of data in the last 24 hours. Windows 7, Microsoft is probably the most successful operating system, sold 350 million licenses in the first 18 months. This is an outbreak of 648 148 licenses a day. If you consider that Windows is the majority of all computers sold in the world, is not very impressive compared to the amount regardless of the price difference.

It Seems That Google Has Acquired The Domain Plus.me.

2011-07-21T22:15:00.000-07:00

We speculated a bit, should there be an easier way to link our profiles + Google and apparently the answer is yes. If you have not noticed, if you have a vanity URL before Google (found on http://profiles.google.com/____) now redirects to your Google + profile, but it seems that Google may have other plans up his sleeve as well.

A little digging through Google + user Mike Stenger found that Google Inc. is the registrant for the domain of http://plus.me and it does not seem logical that Google would eventually allow us to use the HTTP protocol :. / / More than me / FORUMNAME quickly direct people to your profile + Google.

It is worth mentioning a few things here. First, it was originally registered the domain with GoDaddy, but is now listed at MarkMonitor (thank you Michele!) This makes sense in this context that GoDaddy is one of the first registrars able to record. Me TLD.

Whois Check that we have done shows that Google has acquired the name of April 12 this year, through the transfer. It 'was first recorded in August 2008, unknown to the registrant, which was later acquired by Google and moved the company's bank account. It is not surprising that Google has bought all, what could the word or symbol as to protect its brand.

At least here, we hope that one day soon http://plus.me/thenextweb. The official commentary on Google "no comment" when it comes to all future plans. This is what we expected, but it would be really nice to know.

Google Docs ups its Game From 1GB to 10GB Uploads

2011-07-21T22:11:00.001-07:00

Google Docs is pretty impressive. They allow you to create and share documents, spreadsheets, presentations or online surveys. And since they are stored online, you can access your documents from anywhere. In February, Google rolled out an update documents with new features and functions, including "Priority", the document focus on Gmail inbox.

This morning, Google Docs is already more impressive. Scott Johnston, product manager for Google announced that Google Docs has increased its maximum file size of 1 GB to 10 GB.

1GB is pretty small, out of sync, and Google is usually a generous offer. New upload size gives a competitive advantage over other free services like Dropbox (2GB), Box.net (5GB), and the Amazon Cloud Drive (5 GB). Microsoft SkyDrive still win with 25 GB free for download.

Facebook To Update The IPhone Application, Complaint Handling

2011-07-21T22:08:00.000-07:00

Facebook was ready to release an update to its iPhone application on Thursday, reports the Financial Times. Updated plans were revealed when Facebook was contacted by the publication of comments terrible comment on the current version of the application.

Beyond saying that the update will be available in the App Thursday, Facebook said it was the only engineer who works in the app while the team has worked on mobile applications for Android and other mobile platforms. Facebook has about 84 million users of its iPhone. More than 20,000 users have posted negative reviews about the application, which currently has two stars from the App Store.

Who worked on the application developer, Joe Hewitt, left the company earlier this year. Hewitt has had some problems with Apple's applications policy, which led him to stop working on it and start the Android version of their work before leaving.

I have been using the iPhone application since its introduction in the App Store and was never very stable. Although many features of Facebook was added to it since its introduction, many basic features remain a problem for users. I have personally known many error messages received, blockages and problems that required removal and re-install the software in my time of use.

It seems that the Facebook application for iPhone is finally getting some love, but it is only a minor upgrade or a real effort to improve the functionality and stability of the application remains to be seen. The latest update of the application is as recent as June 29, but does not seem to have addressed many issues that people see and rating remains low.

5 Things To Do To Prepare For Mac OS X Lion

2011-07-20T00:34:00.000-07:00

Mac OS X Lion few hours away, and it is a good time to book a couple of hours to get the system ready for an upgrade. Here are five things you should leave the street, that the time for you to help crush the minute droplets Leone Apple servers.

1. Check your machine’s compatibility.

Not all Macs are compatible with Leo, but if you're not, it's probably just about ready to retire anyway. Any Mac with an Intel Core 2 Duo or higher is compatible, so most machines since 2006 should be fine.

Check About This Mac to ensure your computer to use the Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 and Intel Xeon machine. About This Mac from the Apple logo can be found in the menu on the left of the screen.

2. Create a complete backup of your machine.

Probably the most important step you can take is to back up your Mac Want a full backup of the system without cutting corners.

If you are like me in a regular or a Time Capsule external hard drive backup partial, no system files to save space (there are a lot of Macs in this house), and time. But a major upgrade of the operating system is a good time to create a full backup: is every chance that the upgrade goes wrong, and leave you with a computer that does not work before you shape and rebuilt from scratch.

Do not discount the likelihood of this happening and make sure you have a backup fully recoverable at hand.

You can use Time Machine with a hard drive or time capsule, which is able to create a full backup to restore your system the way it was before the bad things that happened or a third party application such as SuperDuper.

3. Take a few steps to prevent problems.

We recommend turning off FileVault, or third-party software encryption protects the hard drive. Lion brings many changes in the way it handles the encryption of the disk, so we quit before the update and after reactivation is wise.

You'll also want to head in Disk Utility and check and repair the volume that the Mac OS X is installed. The problems of the poor condition of the file system is one of the most common causes of an update of the operating system failed.

4. Check that your must-use apps are Lion-compatible.

If you have any programs that you need to work with Leo before you can upgrade, you can see a site like RoaringApps.com which lists a wide range of Mac Apps and status.

If an application you need is not there, head to the developer's site and see if they have a trial or released an update will make the application compatible. Most applications work well in Leon independently, but do not upgrade unless the developer behind their critical applications have been told that no update is necessary or that one is available.

If they are silent on the question, begs to run tests and make a public statement, the record and their users much time.

5. Get some spring cleaning out of the way.

Not essential, but a system upgrade is a great opportunity to do spring cleaning done little on your hard drive. If you have completed the above steps are essential and free time to spend some of it cached, clean and maintenance scripts, uninstalling applications that use once and forgot about massive clearing and This mess out of his office. (Yes, we know this.)
