"The Conditioned" - A Work In Progress

We were not asked to be born. We did not choose our gender, our physical attributes, our creed, or our name. From the day we entered this world, each one of us has been controlled and directed. We were told what to do and what not to do, explained how to differentiate right from wrong. We were instructed to communicate using the words of a language. Through parenting, relationships, the education system, the media, we were conditioned and guided, manipulated and controlled. We are all victims of some form of conditioning that, with time, and depending on each of our own personal experiences and development, has made us into the human beings we are today.

Now we are all part of a global awakening that is occurring as we breathe - a new dawn. It will not occur in the blink of an eye, but like the rising of the sun, it is a gradual light that will eventually overcome the vast darkness that plagues our beautiful planet. We cannot be afraid of what we see when the true nature of life presents itself to us. Like those living in Plato's cave, we are unaware of the truth.

Each one of us has changed throughout the course of our lives. We started as babies and developed into the body, mind, and spirit that exists now. The one thing that has not changed, well, for most of us, is our name. The name is the first form of control. It is the root of the ego. It inhibits our spiritual growth and development, harboring the godliness that lives within. It is our first possession - the root of greed. My name is me. My name is mine.

We become attached to our vision of who we our which begins as a seed, through the name. The ego develops as we become praised and scolded. Each of us is taught a certain set of information, a moral code, a goal standard, a way of being, and if we go against that, we are taught to feel shame and guilt.

Language is another way in which human beings are controlled. Throughout human development, language is provided as a set of rules and formulas, all as the human spirit longs to be free. Our minds are restricted by the words that we know. Words are merely a set of symbols linked together by a set of formulas. Our name is a word that at first has no meaning. Our ego is our self contrived definition of the first word we were ever given.

As we progress, words begin to be linked together to form sentences, initially to describe emotions or senses perceived by the physical body. Through development, sentences start to represent the happenings within the mind. The better we use words and sentences, the more we are praised and told that we are smart, and vice versa. The ego develops accordingly.

Eventually, through a long series of conditioning we becomes me - a being made up of physical and mental material.

But we the people are more than mind and body. We are also made up of spirit. Whether you are a Muslim, a Christian, a Jew, a Buddhist, or even an atheist, you have a spirit in search of something. A thriving spirit that longs for freedom, for progress, for change. We all pick our vices and battles to calm and quench this thirst. We choose our distractions. We allow our attention to be taken. We give away our minds at time, and at other times sell it to the highest bidder. Other times, we do the same with our bodies.

It's sad how we have progressed as a species. We started as a being only capable of love and fear. We have developed a whole host of emotions related to the first two. More often than not, fear is suppressed love. As a child, we would run and feel the joy just in the action of it. Eventually we ran off from our parents and were scolded to some degree. This taught us to fear something that once brought us joy - that made us feel love. Our spirit has been continually suppressed by similarly induced fears. So the reality is, maybe we are all, by nature, only made up of love.

Now, many of us cannot separate from the ego. We will engage in minor conflict to protect our ego. We will turn to hate and hostility as a result of our ego. We are our ego, and the series of implanted rules, values, possessions that it holds dear, all of which are merely products of a lifelong series of conditioning.

We have to move past the ego and back to the natural self, one of pure love. We cannot allow ourselves to be drawn into hate and conflict. We cannot give up on who we are.

Some of us will read this, and although they agree with it, they will dismiss it as utopian thinking that is impractical or impossible in modern times. I do the same thing all the time. I am a hypocrite. I am apathetic. But through FugginSuggin.com, I strive for better. FugginSuggin.com is the utopian version of "me."

How many of you have felt the liberated freedom of visiting a foreign country? Walking around aimlessly with a lightness in your step and a feeling of happiness that comes from an unidentifiable source. It is the letting go of your ego induced restrictions that gives you that feeling. Being in a room filled with the sound of an unknown language is comforting, in it leaves you to your mind's wonderment. We can all feel that everyday.

We should never pretend to know the mysteries of the spirit and the universe. We should strive toward love as our guiding force, knowing that there is no value in any knowledge or understanding that is sought without love as the goal.

And it is understandable that many will eagerly dismiss an individual who talks of good and evil, of the power of love over hate. These words are concepts that we each identify with in a certain way based on our conditioning. No matter how the evils of organized religion have affected you, it is necessary to talk in these terms, as there is a conflict between good and evil that is occurring throughout this world, and likely, within each one of us.

Strive for good. Let go of your ego. Embrace the moment and stay open, rather than closed. That is what I want for myself and for all of you. These are the baby steps necessary to shed the conditioning.

I firmly believe that a policy attack is underway against American's right to bear arms as afforded to them by the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Although I am not a big fan of guns, I do believe that people should stand up for the right to own them and maintain that right at all cost.

The text below comes from an email that I received today. While the email is obviously somewhat dated, the letter is still very relevant:

As the Supreme Court hears arguments for and against the Chicago, IL, Gun Ban, here is a stellar example of a letter (written by a Marine), that places the proper perspective on what a gun means to a civilized society.

"The Gun Is Civilization"

Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that's it.

In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact through persuasion. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason and try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force.

The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gang banger, and a single guy on equal footing with a carload of drunk guys with baseball bats. The gun removes the disparity in physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender.

There are plenty of people who consider the gun as the source of bad force equations. These are the people who think that we'd be more civilized if all guns were removed from society. But, a firearm makes it easier for an armed mugger to do his job. That, of course, is only true if the mugger's potential victims are mostly disarmed either by choice or by legislative fiat - it has no validity when most of a mugger's potential marks are armed.

People who argue for the banning of arms ask for automatic rule by the young, the strong, and the many, and that's the exact opposite of a civilized society. A mugger, even an armed one, can only make a successful living in a society where the state has granted him a force monopoly.

Then there's the argument that the gun makes confrontations lethal that otherwise would only result in injury. This argument is fallacious in several ways. Without guns involved, confrontations are won by the physically superior party inflicting overwhelming injury on the loser.

People who think that fists, bats, sticks, or stones don't constitute lethal force, watch too much TV, where people take beatings and come out of it with a bloody lip at worst. The fact that the gun makes lethal force easier, works solely in favor of the weaker defender, not the stronger attacker. If both are armed, the field is level.

The gun is the only weapon that's as lethal in the hands of an octogenarian as it is in the hands of a weight lifter. It simply would not work as well as a force equalizer if it wasn't both lethal and easily employable.

When I carry a gun, I don't do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I'm looking to be left alone. The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded. I don't carry it because I'm afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid. It doesn't limit the actions of those who would interact with me through reason, only the actions of those who would do so by force. It removes force from the equation. And that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act !!

The freedoms and opportunities afforded to the masses by the technological advances of the Internet have become overly burdensome to the Powers That Be. In 2012, regulations and restrictions will be put in place to limit those freedoms. While proposed legislation is currently side-railed in the United States (PIPA and SOPA), there is efforts by International organizations to impose restrictions on a global level.

According to the Office of the United States Trade Representative website:

The Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) is a groundbreaking initiative by key trading partners to strengthen the international legal framework for effectively combating global proliferation of commercial-scale counterfeiting and piracy. In addition to calling for strong legal frameworks, the agreement also includes innovative provisions to deepen international cooperation and to promote strong intellectual property rights (IPR) enforcement practices. Together, these provisions will help to support American jobs in innovative and creative industries against intellectual property theft.

In reality, this international agreement is meant to establish an international framework for intellectual property rights.

According to one anti-ACTA website, StopActa.info:

Since Spring 2008, the European Union, the United States, Japan, Canada, South Korea, Australia as well as a few other countries have been secretly negotiating a trade agreement aimed at enforcing copyright and tackling counterfeited goods (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement). Specifically, leaked documents show that one of the major goal of the treaty is to force signatory countries into implementing anti file-sharing policies under the form of three-strikes schemes and net filtering practices.

For a few years now the ACTA agreement has been under negotiation. The agreement is being pushed by the G8-countries and some befriended states under secrecy, and its effects will concern us all.

Likely due to action by a broad and bipartisan coalition of Internet users, companies, and organizations, the U.S. House of Representatives has reportedly put the brakes on SOPA, for now. SOPA would allegedly use Internet censorship to combat overseas copyright infringement. Even President Obama's White House has joined the opposition, although I guarantee that he would, "reluctantly" sign either bill into law if passed, especially in light of Obama's connection to the entertainment industry.

Despite floundering SOPA support, the Senate is continuing to move forward with its equally dangerous version of the bill, called PIPA, the Protect-IP Act. PIPA is the rewrite of last year's controversial Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act, which was discussed numerous times on this site.

As written, PIPA would result in our government importing censorship and surveillance techniques pioneered by countries like China and Iran, and reversing longstanding U.S. policy on Internet freedom. This would be an outright betrayal to U.S. First Amendment values and would only result in further damaging our already blemished standing around the world. In addition, the bill would threaten our job-creating innovators, and undermining Internet security for everyone. Many sites would be forced to shut down, without being afforded any degree of due process, including this one and many other alternative news and information sites.

Despite the online and real life protests of these fascist bills, the long list of supporters contain some of the top lobbying powers in the United States and some of the biggest names in industry. It's evident that these bills were spearheaded by the entertainment industry, and now with the vast array of support, there is no way that the Internet, as we know is, will continue for much longer.

Today is a day for action across the Internet. Learn about these destructive and offensive bills. Tell your Senator what you think. Congress needs to hear from you. Tell your friends. Email strangers. Post on Zuckerberg's wall. Do whatever you can, and make sure you are doing your part in the fight against censorship. The more mediums that the Powers That Be control, the easier it is for them to manipulate information and dominate the masses. We've allowed them to take too much from us already. Let's hold on to our free Internet.

Beware of Bisphenol A (BPA) Contamination

Bisphenol A (BPA) is an organic compound that exerts detectable hormone-like properties, an estrogen mimic if you will, which leaches from virtually all polycarbonate plastics (plastic containers or the plastic lining of cans).

First developed in 1891, bisphenol A came into use as a synthetic estrogen in the 1930s. Later, chemists discovered that, combined with phosgene (used during World War I as a toxic gas) and other compounds, BPA yielded the clear, polycarbonate plastic of shatter-resistant headlights, eyeglass lenses, DVDs and baby bottles.

In recent years, many scientists around the globe have linked BPA to a myriad of health effects in rodents: mammary and prostate cancer, genital defects in males, early onset of puberty in females, obesity, and even behavior problems such as attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. Regulatory bodies have determined safety levels for humans, but those safety levels are currently being questioned or under review as a result of new scientific studies.

In a study released by Consumer Reports, canned soup, tuna, juice and green beans have all been found to contain potentially dangerous levels of bisphenol A. This is just one of hundreds of scientific, peer-reviewed studies that have suggested health risks from exposure to BPA, including increased incidence of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, liver disorders, breast cancer and abnormal reproductive organ development, Consumer Reports said.

Don't trust the government to regulate industry for the greater good of human safety. You must do your own research and review and decide for yourself. Spread the word.

Go to your local city, town, or county council meeting and demand constant surveillance of on duty law enforcement personnel, especially patrol officers. This is the only way to maintain accountability and have a record of police misconduct. Surveillance would protect both civilians and police personnel from false accusations of misconduct. Attorneys Carl J. Mayer and Bruce I. Afran filed a complaint Friday in the Southern U.S. District Court in New York City on my behalf as a plaintiff against Barack Obama and Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta to challenge the legality of the Authorization for Use of Military Force as embedded in the latest version of the National Defense Authorization Act, signed by the president Dec. 31.

The act authorizes the military in Title X, Subtitle D, entitled “Counter-Terrorism,” for the first time in more than 200 years, to carry out domestic policing. With this bill, which will take effect March 3, the military can indefinitely detain without trial any U.S. citizen deemed to be a terrorist or an accessory to terrorism. And suspects can be shipped by the military to our offshore penal colony in Guantanamo Bay and kept there until “the end of hostilities.” It is a catastrophic blow to civil liberties.

I spent many years in countries where the military had the power to arrest and detain citizens without charge. I have been in some of these jails. I have friends and colleagues who have “disappeared” into military gulags. I know the consequences of granting sweeping and unrestricted policing power to the armed forces of any nation. And while my battle may be quixotic, it is one that has to be fought if we are to have any hope of pulling this country back from corporate fascism.

Section 1031 of the bill defines a “covered person”—one subject to detention—as “a person who was a part of or substantially supported al-Qaeda, the Taliban, or associated forces that are engaged in hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners, including any person who has committed a belligerent act or has directly supported such hostilities in aid of such enemy forces.”

The bill, however, does not define the terms “substantially supported,” “directly supported” or “associated forces.”

I met regularly with leaders of Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Gaza. I used to visit Palestine Liberation Organization leaders, including Yasser Arafat and Abu Jihad, in Tunis when they were branded international terrorists. I have spent time with the Revolutionary Guard in Iran and was in northern Iraq and southeastern Turkey with fighters from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party. All these entities were or are labeled as terrorist organizations by the U.S. government. What would this bill have meant if it had been in place when I and other Americans traveled in the 1980s with armed units of the Sandinistas in Nicaragua or the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front guerrillas in El Salvador? What would it have meant for those of us who were with the southern insurgents during the civil war in Yemen or the rebels in the southern Sudan? I have had dinner more times than I can count with people whom this country brands as terrorists. But that does not make me one.

Once a group is deemed to be a terrorist organization, whether it is a Palestinian charity or an element of the Uighur independence movement, the military can under this bill pick up a U.S. citizen who supported charities associated with the group or unwittingly sent money or medical supplies to front groups. We have already seen the persecution and closure of Islamic charity organizations in the United States that supported the Palestinians. Now the members of these organizations can be treated like card-carrying “terrorists” and sent to Guantanamo.

But I suspect the real purpose of this bill is to thwart internal, domestic movements that threaten the corporate state. The definition of a terrorist is already so amorphous under the Patriot Act that there are probably a few million Americans who qualify to be investigated if not locked up. Consider the arcane criteria that can make you a suspect in our new military-corporate state. The Department of Justice considers you worth investigating if you are missing a few fingers, if you have weatherproof ammunition, if you own guns or if you have hoarded more than seven days of food in your house. Adding a few of the obstructionist tactics of the Occupy movement to this list would be a seamless process. On the whim of the military, a suspected “terrorist” who also happens to be a U.S. citizen can suffer extraordinary rendition—being kidnapped and then left to rot in one of our black sites “until the end of hostilities.” Since this is an endless war that will be a very long stay.

This demented “war on terror” is as undefined and vague as such a conflict is in any totalitarian state. Dissent is increasingly equated in this country with treason. Enemies supposedly lurk in every organization that does not chant the patriotic mantras provided to it by the state. And this bill feeds a mounting state paranoia. It expands our permanent war to every spot on the globe. It erases fundamental constitutional liberties. It means we can no longer use the word “democracy” to describe our political system.

The supine and gutless Democratic Party, which would have feigned outrage if George W. Bush had put this into law, appears willing, once again, to grant Obama a pass. But I won’t. What he has done is unforgivable, unconstitutional and exceedingly dangerous. The threat and reach of al-Qaida—which I spent a year covering for The New York Times in Europe and the Middle East—are marginal, despite the attacks of 9/11. The terrorist group poses no existential threat to the nation. It has been so disrupted and broken that it can barely function. Osama bin Laden was gunned down by commandos and his body dumped into the sea. Even the Pentagon says the organization is crippled. So why, a decade after the start of the so-called war on terror, do these draconian measures need to be implemented? Why do U.S. citizens now need to be specifically singled out for military detention and denial of due process when under the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force the president can apparently find the legal cover to serve as judge, jury and executioner to assassinate U.S. citizens, as he did in the killing of the cleric Anwar al-Awlaki in Yemen? Why is this bill necessary when the government routinely ignores our Fifth Amendment rights—“No person shall be deprived of life without due process of law”—as well as our First Amendment right of free speech? How much more power do they need to fight “terrorism”?

Fear is the psychological weapon of choice for totalitarian systems of power. Make the people afraid. Get them to surrender their rights in the name of national security. And then finish off the few who aren’t afraid enough. If this law is not revoked we will be no different from any sordid military dictatorship. Its implementation will be a huge leap forward for the corporate oligarchs who plan to continue to plunder the nation and use state and military security to cow the population into submission.

The oddest part of this legislation is that the FBI, the CIA, the director of national intelligence, the Pentagon and the attorney general didn’t support it. FBI Director Robert Mueller said he feared the bill would actually impede the bureau’s ability to investigate terrorism because it would be harder to win cooperation from suspects held by the military. “The possibility looms that we will lose opportunities to obtain cooperation from the persons in the past that we’ve been fairly successful in gaining,” he told Congress.

But it passed anyway. And I suspect it passed because the corporations, seeing the unrest in the streets, knowing that things are about to get much worse, worrying that the Occupy movement will expand, do not trust the police to protect them. They want to be able to call in the Army. And now they can.

Honoring the humanitarian efforts of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. starts with continuing his quest for universal equality.

Dr. William Pepper, attorney at law and one time confidant to the late MLK, attempted to expose the truth behind the King's assassination for over two decades. With the support of Dr. King's family, William Pepper gave his all to try and bring the truth to light. In his book, Act of State, Pepper details the "execution" of Dr. King. I've communicated with Dr. Pepper on numerous instances. He believes that the only way to ever get to the truth is to spread the information already out there to as many people as possible. Research the efforts of Dr. Pepper, and check out the documentary below on the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Do not sugar coat the truth for the children. They need to learn at an early age to question the information offered to them by the system of indoctrination. You do no justice to them by being another bullshitter.

Today I've reached a boiling point, as its Sunday and as I sit here reading about real world issues and problems, all I hear is people cheering at television sets and acting the fool over a pointless game played by grown men. Hey - all of you sitting on your asses and rooting for over-sized and over-padded men to run back and forth across a rectangular field, let it be known that Football Fuggin Suggs!!!! Why does it fuggin sugg? Well, for starters, there are far too many commercial breaks, the amount of time spent on action is far less than the time spent on inaction, and oh did I mention the constant over celebration?!? These players will celebrate any small gain, block or tackle, huh? And the number one reason that football suggs is the overzealous fans. You have learned far too much watching these NFL players celebrate meaningless feats of athleticism. Man, I cannot stand this game. Football, you are fuggin suggin. Enjoy everybody, and no, I am not watching "the game."
