Shaun Bailey visited Bush Youth Boxing this week. The club is a new part of the wider Bush Youth project run by St Simon's Church, which seeks to serve local young people and their families by creating a sense of community and belonging; empowering them to make positive life choices; and modelling a better way of living.

During the visit, Shaun and the local vicar, Cameron Collington, tried out the new boxing ring and equipment (pictured above).

Shaun Bailey is a huge supporter of youth projects like Bush Youth Boxing and wants to see more activities like this for local young people. If your child, or a child you know would like to get involved with Bush Youth Boxing, email St Simon's Church at bushyouthteam@gmail.com.

Cancer patients in Hammersmith and Shepherds Bush will get access to drugs that they are currently denied under Labour if the Conservatives win the general election, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Hammersmith, Shaun Bailey, announced this week.

Under the bold new plans, the NHS would save £200 million because Conservatives will stop Labour's jobs tax on employers. This NHS saving would be used to pay for drugs which have been blocked by the Government's quango, the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE).

In the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (which runs Charing Cross and Hammersmith Hospitals), which employs 10,010 staff, the cost of Labour's increase in Employers' National Insurance contributions - the jobs tax - is estimated to be £1,501,500.

    * The Labour Government has failed to provide patients with the cancer drugs they need - drugs which are widely available in Europe. Britain has more cancer deaths per head than Buglaria. The current system lets Ministers off the hook. They blame bad decisions on unaccountable bureaucrats in NICE, the agency which approves drugs for the NHS.
* Under the Conservative blueprint, the money that would have been eaten up by Labour's jobs tax would go straight to a new Cancer Drugs Fund. No cancer patient will be refused access to drugs that have been licensed since 2005 if their doctors say they need them.
* Conservatives will also change the way that drug companies are paid for NHS medicines. Effective treatments for all conditions, not just cancer, would become available on the NHS, with drug providers paid according to the value of their new treatments.

Commenting, Shaun said: "There is a clear choice at this election: Labour and their jobs tax that will take £200 million out of the NHS budget; or the Conservatives who will stop the jobs tax and use the savings in the NHS budget to create a Cancer Drugs Fund.

"The NHS is our number one priority. We are committed to helping our NHS become truly world-class. Giving Hammersmith and Shepherds Bush's patients access to cancer drugs widely available in Europe is a key part of our plan for change and making the NHS even better."

Last weekend, Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg claimed that it was 'stating the obvious' to suggest that a hung Parliament was in Britain's interest. He claimed that Greek style unrest would result unless all parties were involved in resolving Britain's economic woes.

This is absurd. All three parties have different views on how best to improve the economy. Conservatives want to bolster employment through stopping National Insurance  increases. Our view has been backed by scores of business leaders. The present Labour Government wants to continue borrowing into the future, but have no plans to pay for it. The Liberal Democrats want to raise taxes even further, in order to continue spending. The idea that we need a forced compromise is wishful thinking. There is no guarantee that agreement would be reached, and a period of indecision could cause further damage.

What is needed is not a Government made up of all the parties, but one that actually includes the people of the country in decision making.  The Conservatives have put this approach at the heart of their manifesto. In each and every policy area, the Party has drafted plans that will increase citizen participation - in education, the environment, and even foreign affairs.  Our "Invitation to join the next Government of Britain" will help guard against public disenchantment with politicians, by providing people with a real sense of involvement. After thirteen years of top down policies, it is long overdue.

Commenting today, Shaun said, "After seeing so many national business leaders come out against this NI increase, I wanted to talk to local Hammersmith & Shepherds Bush businesses to see how this would affect them. The response has been overwhelming, with over 50 small business owners signing up to support the Conservatives plan to stop Labour's tax rise on jobs."

"There's no other way around it - this NI increase is a tax on jobs. Small businesses play an extremely important role in the economic health of our country and the health of our communities. The NI increase means it will cost more for small businesses to stay afloat and ultimately it will cost people their jobs. I'm glad that over 50 small businesses here in Hammersmith have joined our growing petition against the increase and I invite any other small business owners who are concerned about the NI increase to add their name."

Under Labour's tax-raising plans, anyone earning over £20,000 a year will see their pay packet shrink. Labour will also increase the tax that local firms pay for employing workers who earn £5,700 a year or more.

By contrast, a Conservative Government will stop the most damaging part of Labour's tax on jobs by cutting government waste while protecting frontline services. The cost of Labour's tax rise on employers will be reduced by more than half. And anyone earning between £7,100 and £45,400 - seven out of ten working people across the country - will be up to £150 a year better off than under Labour's plans.

The Hammersmith and Shepherds Bush Businesses to have signed Shaun's petition against Labour's jobs tax are:

Conservative Party Leader, David Cameron, joined Shaun Bailey in Hammersmith today, where he met with young people who have just graduated in a course run by local charity, SPEAR.

Based out of the St Paul's Centre on Macbeth Street, Hammersmith, SPEAR is a free interactive six week course that helps young people between the ages of 16 and 24 who can't work out what to do with their lives.

The course helps the young people to work out what they really want to do and how to get there, relevant work experience, a chance to achieve accredited qualifications in selling and customer services, personal coaching, building a great CV and improving interview skills.

Speaking after the meeting, Shaun said: "The work of SPEAR is fantastic in giving young people chances to shape their future and providing valuable experience that will lead to employment. We need to learn from SPEAR's work and do more of it across the country."

Conservatives are committed to getting Britain working and tackle Labour's jobs crisis, creating hundreds of thousands of new opportunities to help people move from unemployment back into work.

One programme proposed by the Conservatives - Youth Action for Work - will give young people the skills they need to get a sustainable job for the future. Over two years we will fund 200,000 apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeships, 100,000 work pairings and 100,000 further education college places.

She is rated as one of the top barristers in her field, described by one directory as "formidable" and "renowned for smashing the opposition".

Joanne is married to Octavius Black, the best-selling author and founder of The Mind Gym and The Mind Gym's Foundation. They live off Westbourne Park Road in the constituency where their home is always full and busy with friends and family. Together they support many charities.

Path to Politics

Joanne has always had a strong sense of community and philanthropy. She is her Chambers' representative for the Bar Pro Bono Unit taking on cases for those who cannot afford representation. She remains a volunteer for the Media Trust (teaching charities the skills to handle the media) and has raised funds for Kids Company. She has also been a Trustee of the charitable theatre company OnTheatre Ltd.

Joanne became increasingly political during her legal career. The decline of the state education system, reckless public spending and disregard for fundamental freedoms like free speech under the Labour government led her to step up her involvement: writing policy, using her legal expertise to advise the shadow front bench in both the Commons and the Lords and drafting wrecking amendments to Labour legislation.

In February 2006, after David Cameron became Party Leader, Joanne applied to be an approved Conservative candidate. In November 2006 she was selected for the first seat she ever applied for, Westminster North, where she has lived for over 10 years.

Social Action

Community activism is central to Joanne's campaign in Westminster North and to her commitment to fixing politics. She is one of the candidates leading David Cameron's agenda on social action, using local projects to effect change, improve local lives and engage people to participate to help themselves. Working for her community:-

• Joanne supports a number of local causes and charities including the All Stars Boxing Gym, the Butterfly Reading Group and the London Tigers.
• She has also facilitated the introduction of an educational programme Arrival Education into a Westminster North school.
• Joanne has set up her own mentoring scheme STEP UP for school leavers to coach and train them for higher education applications or the job market. It has been featured on Channel 4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8elyw0Gv5lA.
• She has supported The Mind Gym's development of a programme to teach parenting skills to families. This programme has been piloted at St Stephen's School in Westbourne since January 2010.

Policy Priorities

In very brief summary Joanne's priorities are:-

Rebuilding the British economy and bringing back jobs to the UK
Massive improvement of the state education system
Welfare reform - helping people back to work, rebuilding self-esteem and ending the dependency culture
Community cohesion facilitating the integration of ethnic groups to play a full role in their community
Excellence in healthcare
Protecting civil liberties and individual freedom

Her pledges
If Joanne is elected as the Member of Parliament for Westminster North, she pledges to:

Fight local crime
Improve local schools
Reform parliamentary expenses and make MPs more accountable
Protect local GP surgeries and St Mary's hospital
Bring investment for jobs and business to our area
Boost support for local charities and community projects

Shaun Bailey is a co-founder of My Generation, a charity set up to address the social problems that affect young people and their families, including anti-social behaviour, drug use, crime, teen pregnancy, educational underachievement and unemployment.

Shaun graduated in computer aided technology from South Bank University. Previously, he worked as a security guard at Wembley and the Trocadero to put himself through university. He grew up in the north Kensington area with his mother, brother, and granddad.

A dedicated gymnast with the Childs Hill Gymnastic Club for over twenty years, he won many competitions both nationally and internationally. He was also a member of the army cadet force for ten years, where he met one of the major influences in his life, Captain (now Colonel) Connolly--the man who always challenged him to do better and believed in him.

In 2007 he was selected to fight the new Hammersmith Parliamentary Constituency for the Conservatives. Drawn up by the independent
Boundary Commission, the new Hammersmith seat will consist of the whole borough that lies north of the Lillie Road. This will include most residents in the postal districts of W6, W12 and W14.

Driving Shaun's ideas are four clear principles:

He believes in the family.
He believes in community.
He believes in personal responsibility.
He believes people should respect each other.

Put simply, Shaun Bailey is not an average politician. He is bringing fresh thinking, not only to the Conservatives, but politics as a whole.

The choice at the next general election will be simple. More of the same from Labour - or a chance for real positive change.

Thereafter, Greg was educated at state schools in England , but the family was constantly on the move, due to the Labour Government of 1974 - 1979 closing down grammar schools.

Greg left Dr. ChallonerÂŜs Grammar School in 1984 to go to Cambridge University to read history. First, he took a "gap year" and worked in a swimming pool in what was then West Berlin . During this first spell in Berlin , Greg developed a strong interest in the plight of the captive nations of Eastern Europe.

Already fluent in German and French, Greg also learnt Czech and Slovak to good standards, as well as working knowledge of three other Slavonic languages. Greg had further spells in West Berlin and Prague during university vacations in the period 1985 - 1989.

Leaving Cambridge with a first class honours degree in modern history in 1989, Greg embarked on a career in the City. Greg worked for three different firms in an eight-year career in banking. Greg moved to Fulham in 1990, where he has lived ever since. From 1991, as part of his work, Greg was shuttling between London and New York City . Greg was a member of the Friends of Rudy Giuliani in New York , helping him become the first Republican Mayor of New York City for many decades in 1993. Greg left banking in 1997, from which time he was also full-time in London .

Greg lives in Fulham with his wife, Irina and daughter, Helena, who was born in 2006, and son Martin, who was born in 2007.
