Hey again lacquer lovers. Time for another Born Pretty Store nail art product review! This time I am reviewing a sheet of floral nail art water decals. This particular sheet features both a patch of solid pattern for whole nail decoration, and a series of singular water decal designs in a floral motif. Above I have a photo of the product as it arrived to me through the post. As per usual with water decals there are some simple instructions on the back side of the package.

Just a quick shot of the different images available with this sheet in particular. There are a variety of image themes you can choose from I just am usually drawn to the flowers :P

Tada! Here is the nail art that I created using these floral water decals. As you can see they are a little more translucent than they look in the package. In hindsight I would have used a white background to make them pop more but they still look pretty adorable in my opinion and not a bad deal at $0.99 per sheet. Born Pretty Store nail art product review : Pretty Flowers Full nail water decals!

Hey lacquer lovers! I have a super pretty product from Born Pretty Store to review for you today! So this product is a set of full nail water decals meant for application over a white or pale base. Pictured above is the product as it came through the post. As you can see there are some application instructions on the back in case you aren't already familiar with water decals.

The next photo is of the water decals out of the package. As you can see they are staggered in length indicating which nail each decal is for. You must cut these yourself before application as they are one solid piece. Some water decals are more opaque than these so if you want a vibrant background, the flowers won't pop as much as they are sort of translucent, but they look adorable on a white or pale background. I personally chose to use white for my background as you will see below.

All I did was paint my nails white, allow to dry and used the usual dip and let rest in water and then apply to the nail technique as you do with all water decals. The product is very easy to place with your fingers, although I do prefer to use tweezers for water decals to ensure proper placement. As per the product recommendation, and my own personal preference I applied a top coat on top of the decals, and doesn't it just look adorable? Don't worry if your nails aren't as long as the decals because the remainder can be easily wiped away with some nail polish remover on a q-tip. I think these are just perfect for the Spring/ Summer season and are super easy to use. I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a super pretty look with minimal effort or skill required.

Born Pretty Store nail art product review : French Nail Paper!

Hey lacquer lovers! Coming at you with another Born Pretty Store nail art product review! This time I am reviewing a sheet of blue French nail paper. Now I usually show the product how it came through the post, but this product came in one large sheet, which wasn't a problem, but a piece of it had gotten stuck on the package when I opened it and through My error I tore it, so I chose to cut it into nail art sized strips right away to prevent further tearing :) The product is the size of a regular 8 x 11.5 sheet of paper with an adhesive size, and one colored side with a matte texture.

This product can be used like striping tape, but to create virtually any shape you could imagine! So for my nail art to review this product I wanted to go with some cute little heart shapes and a gradient :) Let's see how it turned out!

So to achieve this look I cute 10 little heart shapes out of the nail paper using cuticle scissors. I then painted my nails white, allowed to dry and applied the hearts cut from the paper with the adhesive side down paying attention to make sure they were firmly pressed down so there would be no polish bleeding. I then used a sponge and a blue/ purple/ gradient over top of the paper. I then removed the paper hearts and was left with adorable white heart images on a pretty soft gradient! This is a super cute and super simple nail art!

So what do you think guys? Have you tried French nail paper, or similar nail vinyls? I personally really enjoyed this product although full disclosure on occasion some of the pieces would lift up and cause some minor bleeding here and there which I had to touch up. I think this may have been partially my fault for using drying drops however as they were slightly greasy. I would recommend this product however as it is super cheap at $0.99 a sheet (for another $1.67 you can add a scissor to cut out special shapes for you). Born Pretty Store review : Five piece nail art brush and dotting tool set

Hello there lacquer lovers! Today I have another awesome review for you for another Born Pretty Store product! I absolutely loved the last set of sample brushes sent to me by born pretty so this set of flat brushes with dotting tool reverse ends was a natural choice for me to review for you. First as pictured above is the product as it arrived in package. As you can see all of the brushes have protective plastic sleeves to make sure their bristles didn't get messed up during transit. The packaging is simple but very effective and of good quality.

Here is a close up of the brush heads so you can see that they are all the same rounded wide shape in a variety of sizes. The first thing I noticed was how soft the bristles are, and how sturdy the construction seems. The handles are thick sturdy plastic and the metal ends are not easy to bend, and they seem firmly attached to the handles.

I also wanted to include a close up of the dotting tool ends. As you can see the dotting tools are all the same size. While this might not be desired for some - as you can see in my nail art using this product I was fine with it because the dots that the tools create are the perfect size for my nails.

Here we have it guys! I created this sweet vintage polka dot nail art using these flat brushes. Thanks to their size variation I had a perfect size brush to paint the blue on each nail while leaving a clean white backing. I didn't use any tape, or vinyl for this nail art, I simply used the shape of the brushes! I then used the dotting tool for the white Polka dots creating an elegant classic almost pin-up look with little to no effort.

I highly recommend these brushes guys, they are so easy to work with and so soft. I had no bristle fall, and the construction is sturdy so they should last you for quite a while. Since the bristles are dark, I also didn't notice any staining from the darker colors of polish which to me is a bonus. They clean very easily in nail polish remover (I use non acetone and it cleans perfectly).

Princess and the Frog inspired nail art

Sorry it's been a while since my last post but life can be hectic so I am trying to post as often as possible :)

So today I was inspired by the Disney movie The Princess and the Frog. I just recently pre ordered the Funko pop vinyl for the movie, and rewatched the movie with my bff so I was inspired!

Hey Lacquer Lovers!! I have another super sweet nail art and product review from Born Pretty Store. I am particularly excited for this item because it is Princess themed! Science knows how I love Princesses and Disney so this is pretty epic in my humble opinion. On to the review!

So here we are as the product arrived through the post. There were no bends that occurred during shipping and all the images came perfectly in tact. As you can see there are simple and easy to follow instructions on the back of the package so if you are new to water decals this should help familiarize you with how they work and assist you in perfect application :) I love that there are portraits, full body silhouettes, pattern lines, names, AND accenting images for each of the three Princesses featured (Belle, Jasmine, Ariel). I think this makes the nail arts you could use these for very varied allowing for lots of versatility so that you can have Princess nails many times over without using the same combo twice. :)

I decided to go with a Jasmine theme for the nail art I did illustrating the decals in use. As you can see the black decals cover color completely but the lighter decals will suffer visibility wise if you try to place them over a lot of color. This is to be expected but knowing it will help you plan out your nail arts without wasting decals which is always good.

If my past posts haven't illustrated exactly how much I love water decals, I will reiterate the sentiment right now, I love water decals, they allow for so much versatility and detail in manicures for people who are new to nail art, or who simply don't have the time to spend hours doing their nails. I genuinely believe everyone should have some water decals on hand if you do your nails regularly :) They are very handy.

These water decals were very easy to use, transferred to the nail well, and stayed in place perfectly. They are easy to place and easy to apply perfect for beginners and experts alike; I strongly recommend them especially for all you Princess fanatics out there like me :P

Born Pretty Store loose flaky glitter pot review!!

Hey lacquer lovers! I have another review on tap for you today. Born Pretty Store sent me some loose flaky glitter in this beautiful blue color, and I will be using and reviewing it today here for you :)

Here you can see the product as it arrived through the post. It is a little cylinder of light blue flaky holographic glitter. It is a completely dry glitter product that you must place onto damp nail polish and seal on with a top coat. You really don't need much product per nail so this little cylinder will go a long way. This product is perfect for adding some shimmer to give a jeweled / iced over effect to any manicure. Let's take a look at my simple manicure using this product :)

Voila! All I did was dip the tips of my nails which had already been painted with polish and allowed to dry about half way into the glitter pot. This would also be a great product to hand place, or layer for a more dimensional effect. I really enjoy how the flakes look on the nails and am very satisfied with this product over all. Blue is not the only color that this item comes in, it can be purchased in a variety of shades here for only $1.59 per pot which I find very reasonable for quick easy nail art with lots of sparkle!

Born Pretty Store Beautiful Finger Roses and Butterflies water decals review

Heyo lacquer lovers! I am so excited to bring you this review today! Born Pretty Store has sent me these BEAUTIFUL water decals for review. I love Roses and Butterflies, they are so beautiful that I could NOT wait to get these on my nails. *Squee* . Here goes guys, hope you enjoy the review and that you find the look as pretty as I do :)

Here is the package of water decals as they arrived. They were folded in the package, but carefully along the unused area so as not to effect or ruin any of the decals. They were in a sealed plastic bag, and had a clear over sheet to protect the water decals themselves before sale. There is one pink/ red, one blue/ purple, and one yellow/ orange themed blocks which means lots and lots of combo options!!

This is just a little close up for you of each panel. As you can see there are also pretty little Leaf, and Pearl decals to accent the Flowers and Butterflies. You will definitely need a small pair of scissors to cut each decal out, but a nice pair of cuticle scissors works extremely well if you have them.

Just in case you are unfamiliar with water decals they kind of work like temporary tattoos. You simply cut out which image you want, dip it into water for 10-15 seconds and then the image slides off the backing. You can then affix the image to the desired area of the nail. All you need to do after that is dry off any excess water and apply top coat. You can even use a hair dryer to make sure they are affixed into place quicker. These did dry into place on their own however as they sat on the nail longer.

Lastly here is my complete manicure using these pretty flower and butterfly water decals :) I love it so much!! I did a color gradient base so that I could match some flowers from every panel to my nails to illustrate how you can combine them and how they look in all colors.

I am extremely satisfied with these water decals. They are so beautiful and they are extremely easy to apply. They are excellent for giving you a super fancy look in under 10 minutes for those times when you want banging nails but are short on time. Born Pretty Store kawaii stamping plate review!!

Hey lacquer lovers!!! I missed writing to you, I'm so sorry it's been a while I'm just trying to get my ducks in a row in this big crazy thing called life so my blogging had taken a back burner for a few weeks. I am not gone however I am going to be posting as much as I can while I try to get some exciting new things going in life. So today I have a super kawaii stamping plate up for review from Born Pretty Store ! Lets get to it shall we? :)

Ok guys, so this is the stamping plate as it arrived to me through the post. As you can see all of their stamping plates have protective film just like all standard run of the mill stamping plates. The images are super cute with tiny little pandas and an anime girl!! I'm so excited :) Let's see how it stamps!

Here you can see the plate after I removed the protective film, it is in perfect condition and all of the images are properly carved. I didn't use a special stamping polish so that had no effect on the results. I simply used a standard black Sally Hansen nail polish for the stamped images so you can clearly see that this plate works well even with budget non stamping specific polishes. I also used my wonderful stamper and scraper set from Born Pretty which I reviewed here in case you are interested. Now let's see a cute nail art I made with this stamping plate!

I was in a sweet heart kind of mood so I wanted to use the pretty hearts image with some lovely pink shades. I love how this turned out. Pretty please forgive my ragged cuticles I need to pick up some cuticle oil, the change in seasons here in Nova Scotia really messes with skins moisture levels at times :P

Butterfly nails using the Leadlight Nail Art technique

Hey Lacquer Lovers!! I am so excited to bring this look to you today, it's a technique I am a total noob at but holy crap is it beautiful if you have the polishes to accomplish it.

So what makes a leadlight nail art you ask? Simple it begins with a light neutral base color like white or cream which you then stamp your chosen image over in black. From here is where you will need sheer or jelly polishes, you want the brightness of the white and the black lines to show through but be painted like stained glass. I personally used the four OPI Sheer Tints polishes, but there are lots of tutorials out there that will show you how to make your own from regular nail polish and top coat if you don't currently own any translucent polishes. The only other thing you really need is a dotting tool, and for me personally I also used a small flat brush for the larger areas of color.

It looks complicated but it's really simple guys you just paint in the images with the colors like you would in a coloring book. It can take a little time if you are a real perfectionist but it is so worth it. This is easily my favorite nail art all year it's so light and bright and airy.

Born Pretty Store Sailor Moon stamping plate review

Good Morning Lacquer Lovers! I certainly hope that your day is going well. I am here again today with another press sample from Born Pretty Store :) Other than the nail art brushes I received and reviewed a few days ago here this is the item I was the most excited to try out. Can you possibly guess why? Yes, you likely got it right, it's because it's a freaking Sailor Moon stamping plate. I am a huge Sailor Moon fan so yea Nail art plus Sailor Moon = Happy Jenn. Anyway here we go with the review!

Pictured above is the stamping plate as I received it. Like all stamping plates I have ever encountered it came covered in a layer of protective film and a proper backing to avoid injury and scraping.
I have also pictured the stamping plate just after I removed the protective film. As you can see even the fine lines are properly engraved. I had no issues getting this image picked up using a normal non stamping grade nail polish (also pictured above) as it is very well carved and smooth.

There aren't a lot of qualities I ask for in a stamping plate other than it be functional and have a kick butt image to make my nails as pretty as they can be. This stamping plate performs excellently in both of those regards and it is only $1.99 from Born Pretty Stores website . Born Pretty has a wide variety of low priced stamping plates, there is something for everyone :) .

I am hugely satisfied with this stamping plate, I could not have asked for more, it is on par with the quality of my Pueen and MoYou London stamping plates for sure, and I strongly recommend it and let's take a look at why...

BAM look at those nails! I don't like to toot my own horn but holy crap are they awesome! I love the fact that this stamping plate is a continuous image like a big collage. This design allows you to pick up a large section of image and stamp onto more than one nail if you have a stamper large enough to allow that technique. The one large image aspect also allows you to pick and choose which part of the image you put on each nail while still creating a cohesive manicure.

Sassy pink animal print nail art

Hey again Lacquer Lovers!! Now that things have settled down after my Dads passing I have been able to get into nail art more again, thankfully I have such a therapeutic hobby.

So for this nail art I've used two lovely colors from the OPI Hawaii Collection called Suzi Shops & Island Hops, and Just Lanai-ing around. I also used a black nail art paint pot for lining by Kiss nails and the tan color is Essie Sand-Tropez.

So I just painted my nails with Suzi Shops & Island hops and allowed it to dry. I then painted the diagonal Sand Tropez parts onto my accent nails (Thumb and ring finger). Next I took a dotting tool and used Just Lanai-ing around to make random oval-ish dots all over the pink areas of the nails. When it was all dry I went back in with my black liner color and filled in the details to complete the look :) . I must say I'm not a HUGE animal print fan but when it's done right I do really like it.

Born Pretty Store nail art stamper and scraper combo review!

Hey lacquer lovers! So today I have another review of a nail art product from Born Pretty Store for you :) This time I'm coming at you with my opinions on a cute and useful little stamper and scraper combo. Let's see how this stamper faired against others that I own.

So I also own a Konad stamper and a MoYou London stamper. This stamper from Born Pretty Store is the exact same in marshmallowy-ness and texture as my MoYou stamper. I did not have to prime this stamper as you do with rubber stampers like my own from Konad. As you can see the scraper is pretty standard and functional also very comparable to the brand Konad. The only thing is, unlike the other brands this one can be purchased on the cheap for $3.74 if you are on a tight budget but want to get into stamping. It works just as well as the other brands, but is more price friendly and might be a good way for beginners to get into stamping without devoting near $10.00 to stamping before you know if it's even for you.

I have included not only photos of the stamper, but also a short video where I showcase how soft and marshmallowy it is, which makes it easier to transfer the images onto your nails without screwing up any polish underneath, it also helps to line up your stamping design because you can just look at the design, line up your finger and smoosh it into the marshmallow stamper for a greater success at perfect placement than with a rubber stamper in my own personal opinion.

Next I wanted to give you all some examples of how it picks up images. Keep in mind that I did not use proper stamping polish so forgive me that it isn't as vibrant as some stamping images are. I have yet to budget proper stamping polish into my nail art rotation. The images transferred to the stamper and then to my nail just as well as either of my other two stampers performed the same task. Even though this stamper and scraper are cheaper than other brands I would still give it a go if you are a beginner stamper or if you want to have a few extras lying around for advanced stamping etc. It never hurts to have a spare stamper and with Born Pretty Stores prices you can't really go wrong.

kawaii kitty Born Pretty Store water decals review

Good morning lacquer lovers :) New experiences abound today as I bring you a review of some super kawaii kitty water decals from Born Pretty Store. Now, I am a total noob with water decals but I wanted to try these adorable little kitties so I figured it would be as good a time as ever to give them a go! Here we go..

So the photos above and below are how the decals came packaged. The backing is a little crinkled but it does not effect the decals themselves, they are all still adhered to the backing and are not cracked or harmed in anyway that would change their functionality.

In the package is one sheet of water decals with 20 little kitty decals in total. There is a small piece of cellophane to protect the images in transit or in storage to prevent them from being damaged so at a super low price of $1.59 I would say it's a good value.

So since I am such a noob with water decals as I mentioned before I quickly googled how to apply them and then went at it. If you are also a noob all you have to do it cut out one of the small images, remove the protective film, saturate the image with water and then separate the decal from the backing with your finger and apply to the nails you want the images to be on :) Of course I follow up with a top coat for extra security but they were securely on there without a top coat as well. It's the same principal as a temporary tattoo but for your nails. These decals are super easy to use, I was scared they would rip or bend while applying them to my nails but they didn't at all, it was a really easy way to get a cute fancy image onto my nails.

At the super cheap price, and ease of application I would definitely recommend these to anyone, especially those of you who love nail art but maybe don't have the time or haven't honed your skills enough yet for intricate nail art. Like nail wraps this gives you a quick and easy way to add a little something extra or special to your nails without a lot of effort or frustration.

An Introduction to Espionage Cosmetics : Make up for all us nerdy gals

Hey Lacquer Lovers! How are you today? Good news!- well at least I consider it good news. I have decided that I am going to move from being just a nail art and polish blogger to also branching out into beauty and fashion. I will also be starting a secondary blog (the nerdy cupcake) that will host some other content about my nerdy loves and interests. Espionage Cosmetics not only makes awesome cosmetics, they make awesome cosmetics based around wicked nerdy themes like Borderlands 2, the Steampunk scene, the Otaku scene,Firefly, girl gamers, and first person shooters. This is another collection that isn't negotiable for me. I need this one as I clearly un apologetically put MANY hours into fps games each week...perhaps each day...anyway..The colors are a perfect mirror image of tanks and guns and camo. Personally I can identify a lot with these colors and the color palettes in the Battlefield series, but they are cohesive with the whole genre really. They also remind me of Poison Ivy so it's kind of double duty for me.

The Paranormal collection will get you noticed for sure, with a super vibrant red and a deep purple with some ghostly grey and copper to blend the colors out. These colors are for sure the eye shadows you can find on the vanity tables of the most discerning female spectres and spooks.

Born Pretty Store nail art brushes review

Heyo lacquer lovers! Exciting news! Today I have a fantastic set of nail art brushes from Born Pretty to review for you! Of course I had some nail art brushes from before from Bundle Monster, but I've had them for nearly two years and they just were no longer standing up to the test of time (heads detaching bristles fraying and falling etc)..therefore I was very excited to spot this super fine (literally) set of nail art brushes on Born Pretty.
The first thing that drew me to this set other than it's amazing price ($3.87 for five nail art brushes!!!) was the fact that the the tips are so fine and therefore I imagine a lot of intricate work that I could accomplish with this set. So here comes the review :) Enjoy!!

So the above photos are when the brushes just arrived in/ just out of package. They do not have a case of their own but this to me is not an issue because I have a setup for all my nail art stuff and I just keep them in the bag with my other horde of goodies. The super fine tips are protected by plastic caps so that the bristles were not damaged during transit and so they stay fresh during storage.

The first thing that I noticed was that the bristles are not too soft but not too stiff, perfect for nail art. You can apply enough pressure behind your strokes to get the details you are after without pulling the polish off the nail. The bristle length is good and not difficult to maneuver or clean, you can get super good control over your art with these brushes. Another key factor in liking these brushes for me was that they don't shed bristles (yay!) and upon arrival and throughout the first few uses none of the metal heads have come unglued from the handles!! I know this doesn't seem like a lot to ask, but I had a serious issue with this using my last set of nail art brushes so I was happy that it doesn't seem to be an issue this time around.

Next I wanted to get you guys some close up pics of the brush heads so you can see detail of how fine they are. These photos are straight out of the package, the photos in the collage below are after the first use. The only thing I could say is that because I used black on white bristles for the flat brush I got a bit of staining on the bristles, but it has not affected their functionality and it is just staining, there is no black that comes off in other colors so frankly I'm not bothered by a little bristle staining.

I tried to exhibit how fine and controlled of lines you can create with these brushes in a simple black and white patterned nail art. This nail art has no particular theme, it was purely designed to show a stark contrast between the work accomplished with the nail art brushes and the background. Creating these lines and details took little to no time and effort as the brushes are extremely easy to work with, I would highly recommend them to nail artists of all skill levels, with their price point you can't really go wrong.
