			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I was recently corresponding with <a href="http://imwithjoe.com/">Joe the Rasta Marketer</a> about separating people who are ready to spend money from those who are just so-called &#8220;freebie seekers.&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>As you read this brief post, you will instantly grasp a truth that will increase not only your understanding, but your profits as well.</strong></p>
<p>Back in the 80&#8217;s I was doing a bunch of direct selling&#8211;sitting down with people across a kitchen table, office desk or restaurant table, pitching my heart out.</p>
<p>But I had a problem:  While I was doing bundles of appointments each week, my close rate was pathetic&#8211;maybe 10%.  I&#8217;m a good salesman and should have been closing at least 30% if not 50%.</p>
<p>I asked another, older, wiser salesman friend what was wrong.  He asked me how I got prospects, how I set appointments and how I pitched them.</p>
<p>I was amazed when he pointed out&#8230;<center><br />
<h2>&#8220;I was DATING not Selling&#8221;</h2>
<p></center>Since I was already married I wasn&#8217;t quite sure what he meant.  He went on to explain.</p>
<p>He went through my list of prospects and pointed out that I tended to meet my prospects at social gatherings, most of them were single young women and most often we ended up meeting at a restaurant and that I paid for the meal.  He made it very clear&#8230;<center><br />
<h2>&#8220;These Women thought it was a Date&#8221;</h2>
<p></center>Not a good way to make money.</p>
<p><strong>The need to separate freebie seekers from buyers comes from selling in the offline world&#8211;direct selling via a sales person, direct mail and other forms of offline marketing</strong>.</p>
<p>If I am about to send out 10,000 pieces of snail mail at $2 each, I want to be sending it to 10,000 prospects, not 9,000 people who are interested in getting a freebie and 1,000 people who have the ability and willingness to spend money with me.  After all, it costs $20,000.00 to send the mailers either way&#8211;why not send them to prospects?</p>
<p>The same is true when you are a sales person&#8211;you want to spend your time with qualified prospects, not people who just want to shoot the breeze (or get a date).<center><br />
<h2>&#8220;But Online Your Rules are Different&#8221;</h2>
<p></center>In most cases you aren&#8217;t sending out snail mail and it costs the same for you to send out 100,000 emails as it does to send 1,000.  There isn&#8217;t any lunch to buy, so as long as these people have properly opted in to your list, it doesn&#8217;t matter.<center><br />
<h2>&#8220;Everyone is a Freebie Seeker&#8221;</h2>
<p></center>This idea is lost on most marketers:  Everyone wants to get something for nothing.  Everybody.  The vast majority of those people are also buyers&#8211;they buy stuff they want and/or need on a regular basis.</p>
<p>If they have a strong interest in the target market for your freebie, then they are likely to be <em>interested</em> in products you sell for money.  The key is to become the person they trust because people buy from people they believe they know and trust.<center><br />
<h2>&#8220;Build Trust through Words&#8221;</h2>
<p></center>The best way to build trust is to provide high value content in your target niche.  Give your blog readers and subscribers content that proves your expertise, objectivity and humanity.</p>
<p>Do it.  <strong>It will make you money</strong>.</p>

Usually they do this by telling their prospect all sorts of information he would normally find on the sales page.  Bad move.  Usually this either keeps the prospect from visiting the sales page completely, or results in the prospect being unimpressed by the sales page.  Either way it means no sale.</p>
<p>Your goal is to prepare the prospect to see the sales page with an open and positive expectation and let the sales page do the selling.  That&#8217;s called &#8220;pre-selling&#8221;.<center><br />
<h2>&#8220;Your &#8216;Pre-Sell&#8217; Methods&#8221;</h2>
<p></center>Pre-Selling is simply giving your prospects a positive view of the product.  This can be done by demonstrating how the product works for you, giving your own testimonial about the product, offering your own bonus for buying or trying the product, showing how the product meets a need for your prospects.</p>
<p>Your goal, again, is to send your prospects to the sales materials with an open, positively inclined mind.<center><br />
<h2>&#8220;Your &#8216;Pre-Sell&#8217; Routine&#8221;</h2>
<p></center>Here is your four step promotion routine&#8211;you can follow this same routine every month from now on.</p>
<p>You want to begin with three weeks of pre-promotion.  During these weeks your articles and posts are designed to show the need for the product, demonstrate the product, etc.  These can specifically mention the product or they can be used to create curiosity about the product by not telling your readers exactly what product you are using.</p>
<p>Then, in week four, you actually promote the product.  Often I use several emails during the week to encourage people to visit the sales site.  If it is an affiliate product you can try offering a bonus for people who visit and another, even better, bonus for people who buy.  Continue to promote the product for an entire week with beneficial articles and posts that lead your readers to click on a link and buy.</p>

In truth:  <strong>As you read this you will realize when you follow this plan month after month you will suddenly make more money each month&#8211;each month you set a new profit record.</strong></p>
<p>Here are the steps you need to take.<center><br />
<h2>&#8220;Give People a Reason to Subscribe&#8221;</h2>
<p></center>Getting subscribers is not about just begging and pleading, it is about providing value.  You have to give people who visit your site compelling reasons to sign up for your list.</p>
<p>You can provide them with a free download with a compelling &#8220;hook&#8221;&#8211;a title that draws them in and makes them curious.  You can offer them a chance to get something in a free contest.  You can give them access to a &#8220;subscribers only&#8221; post.  You can allow them to sit in on a &#8220;subscribers only&#8221; teleseminar.  You can give them a tangible freebie (I&#8217;ve given away free printed reports and pocket knives in the past.)</p>
<p>But here&#8217;s the key:  <strong>It has to be something that will appeal to your target market</strong>.<center><br />
<h2>&#8220;Give Them a Reason to Tell Others&#8221;</h2>
<p></center>This is the real difference between a promotion that gets you 100 subscribers and a promotion that gets 1,000.</p>
<p>If you can give your subscribers not only a reason to subscribe, but a reason to tell others, you&#8217;ve just put your promotion into overdrive.<center><br />
<h2>&#8220;Think About Your Promo This Way&#8230;&#8221;</h2>
<p></center>You ask 100 people to subscribe.  They do.  Then 10% of those people tell 50 people each to subscribe.  They do&#8211;adding 500 more for a total of 600.  Then 10% of those 500 people tell 25 each to subscribe and they do&#8211;adding 1,250 more.</p>
<p>The cycle just keeps going on.<center><br />
<h2>&#8220;Now, Put These Ideas to Work&#8221;</h2>
<p></center>Come up with a compelling give away or other subscribe incentive.  Launch it.  <strong>It will make you money</strong>.<center><br />
