CSUF Housing Authority extends their housing project to be open to the general public

Fullerton, CA (Thursday, May 28, 2009) - The CSU Fullerton Housing Authority has worked for nearly a decade to help provide much needed affordable, quality housing for the many local educators who reside in the area. Recently, the Housing Authority announced that they would be opening up their
University Heights community to the general public, in order to provide beautiful leasing options in Fullerton at a reasonable monthly rate.

The CSU Fullerton Housing Authority has completed two housing projects in North Orange County, consisting of a variety of attached and detached single-family homes perfect for local teachers, educational staff, public employees and others who have been impacted by budget cuts. The two projects
include the University Heights and University Gables communities, located in Fullerton and Buena Park, respectively.

The Housing Authority saw a need for beautiful, high quality housing in the Orange County area that is affordable. They felt they could provide a valuable service by opening up their University Heights community to the general public. They wanted to ensure that the hard-working citizens of the
area had the opportunity to live in a prime neighborhood with great amenities without having to pay exorbitant costs.

More information regarding the Housing Authority, their projects and how to apply can be found at www.csufhomes.org.

The CSU Fullerton Housing Authority was formed in July 2000 with the express mission to provide and maintain affordable housing and related facilities for CSUF faculty, staff, and other educators. They currently have two housing projects with homes available for sale and lease. University Heights is located in Fullerton with homes for lease to Educators and the General Public. University Gables has homes for sale to Educators only, and is located in Buena Park.

The City of Fullerton has long been known as “The Education Community,” but not everyone knows that there is, quite literally, an education community located right in the city. The CSU Fullerton Housing Authority has worked for nearly a decade to help provide much needed affordable housing for the many local educators who reside in the area.

Over the last nine years, the CSU Fullerton Housing Authority has completed two housing projects in North Orange County, consisting of a variety of attached and detached single-family homes perfect for local teachers, educational staff, and others who must support their families on minimal salaries or have been impacted by budget cuts.

The University Heights community, located in Fullerton, provides a way for education professionals to lease beautiful new homes afordably without sacrificing quality and style. There is also another community, the University Gables, situated in nearby Buena Park, with homes for sale. Both of these housing communities work to provide a neighborhood setting that fosters community spirit among educators and their families.

More information regarding the Housing Authority, their projects and how to apply can be found at www.csufhomes.org.

Fullerton Chamber to Visit DC to Lobby Senator Feinstein to Oppose Card Check Legislation
Chamber stresses danger posed to California worker privacy and jobs.

The Fullerton Chamber of Commerce will send a delegation to Washington, D.C. from June 2-3, 2009, to lobby California’s elected officials against proposed card check union organizing legislation. The highly-controversial bill would effectively strip employees of a private ballot in union organizing drives, hand the federal government power to dictate workplace pay and benefits, and force unfair mandates on small business.

“We plan to discuss with Senator Feinstein why the card check bill is bad for California’s workers and businesses, and would cripple our state’s economy,” said Board Chairperson, Jennifer Fitzgerald, “Our message is clear: oppose any advancement of this bill, there is no compromise.”

Chamber representatives will be visiting Senator Feinstein, among others in the California delegation, because their vote is critical in building upon bipartisan opposition to advancing the bill in the Senate. The legislation fell just nine votes shy of moving forward in the Senate in 2007. The delegation has also scheduled visits with Congressman Ed Royce and Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez.

Next week, state and local chambers of commerce from Wisconsin, South Dakota and Indiana will also visit Washington to voice opposition to card check to their elected officials.

The card check bill was introduced in the House on March 10 with 223 original co-sponsors, 7 fewer than when the bill hit the House floor in 2007 despite expanded majorities supposedly sympathetic to the bill. The bill also hit the Senate with 40 co-sponsors, 7 fewer than in 2007.

About the Chamber: The Fullerton Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to the economic vitality and prosperity of our members and the community. The Chamber of Commerce is located at 444 N. Harbor Blvd., Suite 200. For more information on these or other activities, please call 714-871-3100 or visitwww.fullertonchamber.com.

HOURS: 12 - 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday & 12-2 p.m. Saturdays

CURATOR: Alexandra Duron and Sarah Strozza

BACKGROUND: Redefining the Line: Art Nouveau & The Female Figure features the graphic design, illustration and installation work of ten international contemporary artists Pomme Chan, Deanne Cheuk, Naja Conrad-Hansen, Aya Kato, Pandarosa, Marguerite Sauvage, Alberto Seveso, Sonya Suhariyan, Yoshi Tajima and Eveline Tarunadjaja.

Redefining the Line investigates the influence of historical Art Nouveau on contemporary artists and exhibits work by artists who use both traditional and digital media. Today, approximately 100 years since
its development, artists continue to reference Art Nouveau in terms of thefemale image, the decadent curvilinear embellishments, and the influence of Japanese woodblock prints. Contemporary artists interpret these ideas by incorporating the stylistic and symbolic notions of “the line” in a way that reflects the valu=
es and style of the 21st century.

This exhibition demonstrates the impact designers and illustrators have made on our visual culture. These=
artists successfully merge the fine art and commercial art worlds, applying fine art techniques and art historical ideas to commercial avenues geared towards fashion, music and popular cult=
ure.

Redefining the Line appeals to those with an art background as well as to a wide audience that can appreciate the artworks’ vibrancy and cutting-edge imagery.

The exhibition presents recent and new works, including installations created specifically for this exhibition. Redefining the Line also presents original drawings, created initially for the artists’ design work, that have never been exhibited.

FULLERTON - Volunteers who have helped Crittenton Services for
Children and Families will be honored June 5 at the annual Advocates
Award Luncheon at the Summit House Restaurant in Fullerton.

Timothy Dean, president of Houdini Inc., in Fullerton, will receive
the Community Partner of the Year Award. He has been both a sponsor
and participant in Crittenton events. Crittenton officials said they
applaud Dean “for the thought and work he puts into all he does as a
lesson in sound business practice, good citizenship and admirable
philosophy.”

James Mateer of Fullerton, who will be honored with Volunteer of the
Year, took on the role of mentor to three emotionally troubled and
challenging boys. He worked with the staff to give the boys better
self images and a better understanding of their potential.

The First Presbyterian Church of Fullerton and its Mission Committee
will be saluted for using “sophisticated imagination” and providing
funds to start up programs. The programs allow Crittenton to provide
care and help in the recovery of children who have been found alone
and in the worst situations, including human trafficking.

Charter members, who have remembered Crittenton in their estate
planning or made gifts to the Crittenton Endowment Fund, will also be
honored at their induction into The Heritage Society.

Those being honored are Joyce Capelle, Bill McGarvey Jr., Allan Olson,
JoAnne Olson, John Rau, Kittie Rau, Anthony Russo, Kathy Russo,
Marilyn Salzman, James Shamblen and Louise Shamblen.
