‘Twilight: Eclipse’ to hit over 700 screens in India

New Delhi, July 16 (IANS) After topping the worldwide box office with over $458 million in collections, ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’, the third instalment in the popular vampire series, will hit over 700 screens in India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on July 30.

Having released at over 4,416 locations in the US June 30, making it the widest domestic release, the blockbuster is being released in India by PVR Pictures, the film production and distribution arm of PVR Group.

”Eclipse’ is by far the most awaited Hollywood film in India this summer. We would be releasing ‘Eclipse’ in more than 700 screens all over the country,’ Deepak Sharma, worldwide distribution head, PVR Pictures, said in a statement.

PVR also released the first two instalments of Robert Pattinson-Kristen Stewart starrer hit franchise in India – ‘Twilight’ and ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’.

Based on Stephanie Meyer’s best selling novel series, ‘Eclipse’ also stars Taylor Lautner, Bryce Dallas Howard, Billy Burke and Dakota Fanning.

The movie shows Pattinson, Lautner and Stewart reprise their roles as vampire Edward Cullen, Werewolf Jacob Black and Bella Swan, respectively.

In the film, Bella finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob – knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the struggle between vampires and werewolves.

Sathyaraj makes a decision in muriyadi

At a time when many in Tamil cinema are advocating for multistarrers (Ajith, Arya, Gautam Vasudev Menon, Venkat Prabhu etc), Sathyaraj has reportedly made a decision against this emerging trend.

Remember it was this veteran actor who was part of many multistarrers right from the beginning of his career till his last venture ‘Guru Sishyan’, in which he had shared the screen space with Sundar C.

He had also said sometime back that it was a safe bet if many actors are there in a film and he would focus on multistarrers as the audience would get bored to see a single hero’s fan on screen throughout a movie.

However, reports have it that Sathyaraj would not be part of multistarrers in future. “When actors of my age are playing solo heroes and dancing to duets, why shouldn’t I?’ he was quoted as saying.

Gautam Menon names his movie "Nadunisi Naaigal"

A thriller that is currently being directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon has got an interesting title. If sources are to be believed, the filmmaker has named his movie ‘Nadunisi Naaigal’, meaning midnight dogs.

The film which has Sameera Reddy and newcomer Veera in the lead is a new-age thriller that is technically superior when compared to movies in this genre currently being made in India, sources say.

“Gautham, who is always keen at bringing in new formats and techniques, has followed a very unique approach in ‘Nadunisi Naaigal’. The film will set a new trend in Tamil cinema,” they maintain.

Confirming this, Sameera says, ““It’s quite experimental in terms of treatment and characterisation. I can say it’s something Gautham has never attempted before. If you go to theatre with some expectations, and then, sorry, you will be dumped with surprises.”

Bharath in ‘Vaanam’ with Simbu

The calls for multi starrer movies in Tamil are being taken seriously and two young super stars have belled the cat. Silambarasan and Bharath are the innovative young stars who have turned a new leaf in the history of contemporary Tamil cinema.
