I have heard from several of you over the past two weeks. Thank you so very much for your donations and especially your time in gathering your bargains and delivering them to the office. Your efforts do not go unnoticed. After the first e-mail notice was sent, I had enough items to fill the back of an SUV. Tony & Angie , Stowe Cottage parents, are so very grateful for your donations and your care that you show toward these children. Please consider throwing a couple extra of the items on the list for this week into a charity box. Whether you send it to the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home, or not, please consider giving away part of your bounty. I promise that God will restore unto you your blessings.

Please remember my church in your prayers. Thompson Springs Baptist is the church to which I belong and it burned last Wednesday. The church, including our food pantry, was completely destroyed. Our new, incomplete, unattached sanctuary was spared by the efforts of the many fire departments that came to the scene. Kudos to all the firemen who put their lives on the line. We cannot thank you enough for what you’ve done for us.

Thompson Springs Baptist Church Needs Your Help!

Our church burned to the ground, early Nov. 5, 2009. Praise the Lord, our true church, the members, are well, and pressing on! We do have a new sanctuary in the building process, and it was spared in the fire, but it‘s several months away from completion. However, where we were having services, the old sanctuary, library, Sunday school rooms, nursery, and fellowship hall, were completely destroyed. Our hearts are grieved for the loss of so much! But, God has a plan, and will reveal it to us in His time. We are going to rebuild, and this is where we need the help of our members, family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, community, sister churches, and all who are willing to help out!

Poppa Bello’s Pizza, has offered to help you, help us! They have generously offered to give 20% of all purchases made between November 9 – 30, 2009, to the Thompson Springs Bapt. Church Rebuild Fund! Just tell them you want to help Thompson Springs Bapt. Church when you make a purchase, and they take care of the rest!

They will have dinner, a guest speaker, and optional ballroom dance lessons. This event is free. Donations are welcome and those received this month and next month will go to support House of Mercy, an orphanage in Nairobi Kenya that has recently flooded. The Old Woolen Mill is in downtown Cleveland on Church Street. Coming from Lee University on N. Ocoee towards downtown, turn left at the Monument. Turn right on the first road onto Church Street. You’ll pass the Cleveland Public Library on your right and First Baptist Church on your left. Go straight through several stop signs and red lights and you’ll come to the Old Woolen Mill. It looks like a run-down big brick building, but the inside has been renovated. You’ll see a bridal shop window in the front of the building.

I rarely go to Wal-Mart these days since I can get much better deals at Bi-Lo and Publix by getting what’s BOGO and having my coupons doubled and stacked with competitor store coupons. But, I went to Wal-Mart today because we needed to buy a booster seat. I stumbled upon some great summer clearance prices on children’s clothing. I found boys swim trunks marked down to $1. You can’t beat that! I also saw some racks marked $2 and $3. I don’t know about you, but I’ve always bought off-season clothing at clearance prices and just saved them til time to wear them. Unrelated, Wal-Mart has bananas on sale for $.39/lb!

People for Care and Learning is sponsoring a new playground at the Greenway by First Tennessee Bank on Raider Drive in Cleveland that will be opened to the public this Saturday, Nov. 7 at 10 a.m. The playground features slides, monkey bars, swings and other fun structures. The event will last from 10a.m. to 12 noon, and the dedication ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. Mayor Tom Rowland, local dignitaries, and friends of the project will be on hand to dedicate the site to the community. Shadowing Opportunities with Carrie Workman Photography

Listen up, photographers! Whether you’re a mom who wants to polish her smile-capturing skills, a pro or a wanna-be pro who just want to learn more from a veteran, Carrie Workman Photography has a great opportunity for you!! This increasingly well-known local photographer recently began offering shadowing sessions which offer participants the chance to follow Carrie along on a photo shoot, assist on the shoot and pick Carrie’s brain about what makes a good shot a great one.

Mom beginners are free for the first session and $25 for any additional sessions, mom intermediates with digital SLRs are $45. Semi-pros (those planning to develop website/logo for photography) are $100, and professionals are $250 (those currently having a website or business card). Ask Carrie about bringing your camera and taking pictures during the shoot and even get a chance to go over your pictures with her to find out what shots show the most potential and where you need to work!
