Save your Christmas cards that you receive. You can use the pictures and the sayings and create all new cards, or use them for creating your Christmas pages. Save your gift tags, and even some of the wrapping paper if it is acid free they can also be used in your pages. I would even use some small flat ornaments if possible. Just let your imagination soar. Try to see what the pages would look like from the eyes of a child. or a grandparent. Have you every done a book for a Grandparent?

I hope I have given you some ideas and gotten your creative juices flowing. Have fun scrapping till we meet again,

   Hope you all had a Spooktacular Halloween! Did you take pictures of your little goblins? Here is an idea for your scrapbook page. Use ghost or bat stickers to decorate the corner tabs holding your pictures. Then use a Halloween shaped piece of scrapping paper to write your story to tell about the picture. For instance take a ghost shaped piece of scrapbook paper and write what you want on it and then put a white ghost shaped piece of velum over the top of it for a ghostly look to your writing. Make sure you use a dark ink for the writing. You can also use Halloween paper to do the Lettering for your Title.
This idea can also be used for your fall pages using leaves and acorn shapes.
This can be done with 3 ring binders.
You can use cloth to cover the cardboard and leave a whole for a picture and then embellish the front cover.
I did this with the recipe books that I created. I put pictures of the person I was giving it to on the front and embellished with letters or words and stickers.

Standard Scrapbooking - Creating pages 8X8 or 12X12 size books using page protectors. Page protectors help keep your creations last longer.

Digital Scrapbooking - Creating pages online using digital images and software rather than purchasing individual books and embellishments. Many people use these to create pages to upload to their blogs or to upload print and place in a book. Many software packages are also compatible with online websites like Shutterfly.com and Snapfish.com that allow you to upload your pages and create a printed book of your creations.
I personally like to do the hands on creation of the pages so that have control of the paper and embellishments.used. It also gets my creative juices flowing.

Next time I will talk about three more types of Scrapbooks. Until then keep scrapping and have fun at it. Let your mind wonder into the realm of layouts and embellishments. What do you want to let your pages say and look like? What is the page theme?

Recipe Scrapbooking

A Recipe Scrapbook is a decorative book of quotes, sayings, pictures, and recipes.

These make great gifts. I have done them as Wedding and Christmas Gifts. They are a great way to keep a history of your family recipes. You can put in pictures of who you got the recipe from, Maybe it was an aunt or grandparent. Along with their picture (if you have one available) tell something about them. Then put in the recipe, is it one they developed or how did the recipe come about. Put in a picture of the finished product if possible. Comments about the recipe. How did it taste, what did it remind you of.

When I did the wedding gift ones it was for co-workers and I got recipes from other co-workers and brides family and future husbands family. I had pictures of the co-workers taken at work and decorated it with food stickers, die cuts, pictures of food from magazines etc. The brides loved them. It got them started with a recipe book from both families and they can add their own recipes to it. Plus they are fun to do. Something I just thought of is creating a book for a teacher with children's recipes. How fun would that be.

For these scrapbooks you will probably use some pockets to keep small items in such as pins, a piece of material from a homemade dress for a special occasion. For this I would put a picture of the dress or me wearing the dress and small piece of the dress material in the pocket so I could see the design of the material.
If your child plays basketball and got a piece of the cord from the basket for winning the big game, I would put a picture of your child cutting off a piece of the basket and put the cord (or a piece of it) in a pocket. My daughter played basketball in second grade and I made the end of the year certificates with a picture of the team and I created a basket and cut out little orange balls and had it look like the ball was (slow mow) going into the basket. Then I had the season dates and my daughters' picture on it.
For a trip to the beach you could put a sea shell or a tiny pill bag of sand in the pocket. The ideas are endless.
I hope this gets your mind thinking of ideas that you can run with. If you do one share with me a picture and what you did. I would love to see it and share it on my blog. That goes for any of my blogs.
That's it for this time. My next blog will be on a Recipe Scrapbook. They make great wedding or Christmas gifts.

Till then HAPPY SCRAPPING!!!

I'm Back

Hey there everyone! Sorry it has been so long since my last post.
I have a small place and no room for being able to scrap and leave everything out. I live in a small 980sq.ft. home and no . So I am looking for ideas from you to be able to store my scrap booking supplies. Right now they are at my Mother's so that we can work on a scrapbook for her with all her pictures. Before that they were in my garage. I would love to get one of those Scrap boxes from Scrapbox.com. but can't afford it.
Let me know how you store your scrap booking supplies.
I will be happy to share your ideas with others. Just give me permission to post your ideas.
Thank you!
Hope your 4th is a safe one with all the fireworks. Enjoy the time with family and friends.

Sorry it has been so long. I have had a lot of things going on in my life. My husband has been very sick and almost lost him a few times. He is doing much better now. I have had my share of health issues too. We downsized and moved last August at the end of the month. My husband and I could no longer do stairs very well so we are renting out our 3 bedroom 3 bath split level to a one level 2 bedroom 1/12 bath 980 sq foot home. We really like it.

I have not done any in a while, I haven't got the room here. I am thinking about either building a shed to use for a scrapbooking/craft room or converting the garage. We will have to see. On the other hand my 15 year old daughter will probably be going away to college in 2 years and I can use her room. We will have to see what the good Lord has in store.

The last scrapbooks I did were recipe books. They were a lot of fun to do. I had 3 gals that I worked with that were getting married and I did the recipe books as bridle shower gifts. I worked in a Daycare so I got the other ladies I worked with to give me recipes along with family members and took pictures of the rest of the staff and children to put in the scrapbook. They turned out great and the more I did the better they got because each one was a little different as to decoration and recipes. I kept thinking of something new to put in. I was fortunate enough to have a Cricket given to me so I could cut out different shapes and stuff to add to the stickers that I had bought. I plan on doing a recipe book for myself too. Hey they make great Christmas gifts too. I just remembered I did a recipe book once, it wasn't a scrapbook but I sure could have made it one. I love giving homemade gifts for Christmas.

I just wanted to give you an update as to what is happening in my life.
Since my last post I have done 3 recipe scrapbooks, and I have one in the works and I have two baby scrapbooks to do. I am no longer working now and am on Disability due to arthritis in my back and hip so I have more time to work on them. So I thought, we are downsizing from a 3 bedroom 3 bath split level home to a one level 2 bedroom 1 bath rambler like home. Yes, I did say one bath, the laundry room is big enough we are going to put in a 1/2 maybe 3/4 bath in it. So now I am adding packing to the mix. Thank the Lord I have my daughter to help me. I am only able to do a little bit then I have to sit down and get off my hip and give my back a rest. We have been taking one room at a time and going through things to see what we can give away, keep, and throw away. We have already taken two loads to the Goodwill and I think we may have a couple more.
I am trying to think of what I am going to do with all my Scrapbooking materials. I am keeping it, I just haven't figured out where I will store it yet. My dining table will be my work space for now.
Well, I should go now. Prayerfully we are signing papers this week and moving the week of the 13th of August. I will try to write between now and then but no guarantees.

   Hey there fellow scrappers. I just wanted to wish you all a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
Don't forget to get pictures and put them in the scrapbook. Here is a link to be able to download some
free Thanksgiving tags http://www.creatingkeepsakesblog.com/blog/2011/11/free-thanksgiving-tags/ .
You could make several copies and have everyone fill out a card saying what they are Thankful for this Thanksgiving and put them in a scrapbook with pictures from Thanksgiving Day.
They can be about someonein the family, someone you admire, a historical figure, even a favorite movie star.
Maybe you have a person that you admire, this is the type of scrapbook you would do to show how much you admire them. Tell why you admire them with words and pictures. This could be a relative such as an uncle, aunt, grandparent, sibling or parent. For me it would be my father. My father is now retired and I love to listen to him tell stories of his younger days. He was a medic in the Korean War stationed in Japan. I could put pictures of Korea and Japan. I could put pictures of my dad in his uniform and thank him for his service. I could put pictures of him playing baseball. He played baseball for the Air Force in Japan. My dad has newspaper articles that I could put into the scrapbook. I would also include pictures of my mom and sisters to show the family and the years after he got out of the Air Force. My dad retired as a Pastor of a Baptist Church. I can put pictures from that stage of his life in to the scrapbook.
Maybe you have a favorite movie star that you would like to pay tribute to. You could put as much information as you can come up with and why you admire him. You should put in things from their career and life style. Did they do any humanitarian type service.
This could be one of the most fun type of scrapbooks you could do.

Historical Scrapbooks:

Historical Scrapbooks are typically a way of documenting an event or time period in history. This is great for individual.groups. They are good for documenting class projects for students in Social Studies. Do you need to do a report on The Pilgrims Landing on Plymouth Rock, you could use a Historical Scrapbook creating a time line from when the Pilgrims first set sail, showing what happened and when they landed all the way up to the First Thanksgiving. Historical Scrapbooks can also be used to team teach English and Social Studies.

Alphabetical Scrapbooks:

Alphabetical Scrapbooks are ABC books or Alphabet Books. They use the alphabet to cocument a trip or somehere (like the zoo). You can use each letter of the alphabet to describe or tell what you saw at the zoo. Like " A is for Aardvark, B is for bear, C is for Camel, etc. .) Pay tribute to a person's character by using the Alphabet to desicribe the person's character. Alphabetical Scrapbooks are a great way to teach a Toddler his alphabet by making a soft book for him/her to learn the alphabet by conecting the letter to an object. (A is for apple, B is for Bat, C is for Cake).

<script type="text/javascript">
  var _gaq = _gaq || [];
  _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-27224701-1']);
  _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']);
  (function() {
    var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true;
    ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js';
    var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s);
  })();

A Chronological Scrapbook is a book that documents something in a Chronological Order. For instance a "School Days" Scrapbook would be a Chronological Scrapbook because it documents a childs school years in order. Start with that first day of school or how about that first orientation, how about the first bus ride. I know that when my daughter had to start school we were told to make sure she road the bus on that first day so she can get used to it and there wasn't a lot of parking. So we put her on the bus (taking pictures of her waiting for the bus, crossing the street and getting on the bus.) We then followed the bus and took pictures of her getting off the bus and then walked her to her Kindergarten claassroom and met her teacher. One thing in your school scrapbook I would suggest you do is take a picture of your child's art work and put the picture in the scrapbook. It saves time trying to figure out how to put the art work in and you can throw away the actual art work and save on storage space. A Chronological Scrapbook can be used in a classroom setting for assignments such as the Journey of Louis and Clark or the events of a story read in a class. How about a book report! The child can tell the story by creating a scrapbook of the events in the story. I hope that this gives you some ideas to try a Chronological Scrapbook. What kind of Chronological Scrapbook can you do?

Types of Scrapbooking-"Heritage Books"

We have talked about the different types of scrapbooks but lets take a closer look at each of them.
Let's start with "Heritage Books".
Heritage Books are your traditional albums. They can be an interesting way of showing your family tree, documents and family history. They can also be educational for furture generations teaching geneology.
For instance a friend of mine did a family tree/geneology for my parents. How cool was it to find out that we were related to Miles Standish that came over on the Mayflower, and that we were related to 5 past presidents. This information could be incorporated in your Heritage Scrapbook. I would probably start with a copy of the family tree and go from there. You could include a coat of arms if you have one and you know what it is. You could find a picture on the internet of it or have a family member draw one for you. Do you have pictures of famous people from your family? If you do you could put them in and if you don't have much info on them look them up on the internet and find out what you need. You could put in copies of birth and death certificates. You could also put in copies of wedding certificates. What about military service? When did they enlist and when were they discharged. Family bibles are good places to look for birth, death, and wedding dates. If you have a grandfather like I had he kept little black books that had everything in them. Every time my parents bought a new car, each grandchilds birthday, every wedding announcement, my parents first date. Any documents you have in regards to family members could be used in this book. Was your family from a different country? When did they come and settle in your country.

Scrapbooking Styles

Hi everyone! Today let's talk about Scrapbooking styles. We all know that you can do the hands on Standard type of scrapbooking and then there is the Digital Online Scrapbooking. This Digital Scrapbooking is becoming very poplular these days and several companies like Creative Memories, Snapfish and Smilebox offer the digital online scrapbooking. I personally love the challenge of the old fashioned standard handson type scrapbooking.

Let's look at some of the different types of Scrapbooks. There is "Book Making " ,Standard, Digital Creating Picture Books, Blogging & Scrapbooking, Creating Presentaions, and Picture Slide Shows. I am sure there are probably more that I am not aware of and more that are being thought of all the time.

Then you have the style/type of scrapbooks that can be done such as:

"Heritage Scrapbooks": traditional albums, like family trees. These document a family history or events that took place in the family history.

"Chronological Books": These can be "school days" books or how about Christmas Albums in a Chronological order.

"Historical Scrapbooks": documents or events or time period in history.

"Grandparents Brag Scrapbook": Do a scrapbook of the grandchildren for the parents.

"Alphabetical Scrapbooks": ABC books

"Biographic/Autobiiographic Books": Pages of people telling about themselves.

"Journal Scrapbooks": Journals are not just for words, can use pictures, art,memorabilia. etc.

"Recipe Scrapbooks" A book of recipes, anticdotes, quotes/sayings, pictures of the recipe contributors. This has become my persoal favorite. I have done 2 of these so far as wedding gifts and I am currently getting ready to do a 3rd one for another co-worker. they are so much fun.

As you can see there is no limit really to what kind of book you do. You are only limited to what you can do by your mind.
