For some, they want to pursue their passion only after they have gone through several failures.

To help you in this regard, here are some tips that you can follow.

1. You should look at things around you. Determine what or who inspire you to achieve whatever goals that you have in mind. They can be your loved ones or a specific person that encourages you to be better. These can also be things. What are the objects that create some sparks and enhance you to move forward? Use these objects and people in order to find out for yourself what you really want to happen. You can list down the things and people or places that may come to your mind when you are thinking about this so that you will keep track of what really matters to you.

2. Think about happy thoughts. Reminisce about the times when you were most happy in your life. What brought about such happiness? What made you happy? And while you are at it, you should also think about when was the last time when you experienced such moment. If it has already been a long time, what do you think caused such state?

3. You have to go back to the things that ignited your passion in the past. Read your favorite book. This may be a great time to find console digging through self-help books. This is especially true if you cannot talk to anyone close to you regarding the matter in ways that you hope to be understood.

4. If you are stuck in a job that you detest and your only reason why you are doing that is for money, then you will have a harder time in getting to know where your real passion lies. You may want to look back at the point before you entered this job. What were you back then or what were you thinking to achieve at that point? If you have already saved enough, you may want to consider quitting your current job. This way, you can allot more time in pursuing the things that you really want before it is already too late.

5. You have to be open to whatever possibilities life may bring. You need to expect more than what you already have for you to acquire such and reach a level beyond your comfort zone. This can be done by being bold enough to take a risk at a time. It doesn't matter how small or how big it is. Once you start following your heart and mind to reach to the point where you think you will be happy and satisfied, you are on the right track. And finding your passion will be easier in the long run.

There is nothing wrong in aiming to do things to help better your memory. All one needs to do is to gather enough willpower to face his or her fear and the willingness to overcome that fear no matter what it takes.

Options for aviophobia treatment

Once the final diagnosis has been made by the psychologist, the person who has aviophobia can now start with treatments depending in the severity of the phobia. Nowadays, the most common treatment options available in overcoming fear of flying include drug therapy, natural remedies, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), relaxation techniques and airline-affiliated programs. Each of these offer different concepts and processes so it's up to the person which one could be suitable to his or her needs.

1. The drug therapy. This is the mildest form of treatment available for people who are starting in overcoming their fear. Once diagnosis is made by the psychologist or psychiatrist, the most common drug prescription that they give include benzodiazepines and other relaxant drugs which are proven to control the symptoms of the phobia for a certain period of time. Although some can be bought over the counter, always remember to check with your health provider which drugs may help you overcome that fear while in flight. Their approval and prescription is very important because these will ensure that the problem will not get more complicated.

2. Several herbal and natural remedies. If you want to go the natural way, there are certain natural remedies that can be made or taken at home to help you control anxiety attacks during flights. These herbs include St John’s Wort, Scullcap, Passiflora incarnate, and Valerian are recommended because these are believed to help calm the person's nerves while aboard. Because these contain properties that help people to relax, many are trying this treatment option. But since herbal or natural remedies don’t necessarily have clinical approval, it is best to test first the effects of these herbs before you finally go aboard.

3. The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT. Experts say that one of the most effective methods for helping people overcoming their fear of flying is the process called "desensitization." This is an educated approach to overcoming fear in flying because the process involves making the person face the fear "face to face". How? The moderators introduce the patient to his or her fear and then, slowly, the idea of flying will be re-introduced. Other components of the method also include conversations on it, field visits such as the airport, and soon, you will be accompanied to take a real flight. During the sessions, the patient will be taught various relaxation methods as well as techniques so they can cope with the phobia and eventually eliminate it form their system.

4. Various relaxation techniques. Since anxiety is the main culprit for fear of flying, people who are experiencing this are advised to various techniques that would help them relax such as meditation and deep breathing as well as muscle relaxation. People who are afraid to fly are advised to practice these techniques at home so once they have mastered it, they can try using these relaxation methods when they finally able to take a flight. Learning these techniques are important because it will help the person reduce his or her anxiety, relieve the tension brought by the fear, and enable that person to take off his or her mind into untoward things and accidents.

Tips in overcoming fear of flying

Every year, the number of people that have having a hard time overcoming fear of flying is increasing. The seemingly impossible task assigned to you, noisy workmates, the pollution in and out of the office, as well as your state of mind can easily lead you to the throes of stres

If you don’t take some time off from your busy schedule to address the problem, then stress will just keep piling up on you until such time that it will affect your work -- which could prove to be a problem for your career or business.

It is very important for a workaholic or a busy-body to integrate proper stress management program into their daily routine to ensure that both their mind and body is up to the task of addressing the demand of work. If it's your first time to try this out on yourself, then here are some tips that will help you get started.

One Small Step At A Time

It is impossible to remove all your stress with just one flick of a wrist, and we can safely say that your mind is not equipped or prepared to handle the effort of getting rid of your problems in one go.

If you are planning to apply stress management in your career then you need to keep in mind to take it slow. Don't rush the process of self-improvement if you want to benefit from it. Start first by determining the source of your stress and note them down so you can take care of it one-by-one.

Instead of ranting and raving on your fellow workmates due to your problems, you might want to take a short break from your task and take some time off to relax a little bit. Get some fresh air or make yourself some coffee to help you calm down.

Know Your Limits

If you think that you can do anything in one sitting, then you might want to reconsider this if you want to properly implement your stress management program. Keep in mind that our body has it own limits, even if our mind can cope with the demands.

You need to realize that your mind is linked with your body and both can break down if you're not careful. If you think that you are getting stressed with work then its fine time to take a break and relax. Do some easy breathing exercises to help you calm down or you can try out a simple meditation trick to push worrisome thoughts out of your mind to improve your focus.

Pamper Yourself Once In A While

We can safely say that a workaholic or a busy-body will not have any free time to indulge in pampering as a stress-relief. If you are one of them then you better rethink your options if you don’t want your body to break down on you.

You might want to start pampering yourself once in a while to help you relax when the demands of work are starting to take its toll on you. Start your pampering session by getting a massage to help loosen those tight muscles that causes aches and pains to appear in different parts of your body. Feel free to enjoy the services of a health and fitness spa near you to make your career more bearable.

Memory is important in our lives. It will not only tell us who we are and remind us of the things that have happened in our lives, it will also give us the knowledge that we need to survive. We use memory when we learn new lessons in school or when w

Below are some tips on how to improve your memory. Some you can do to improve your brain’s function while the others are preventive measures that will help you have great memory skills even after old age.

1. Change your lifestyle As far-fetched as it seems, what you do with your life can affect your memory. Thus, people who want to better their memory do not only try out memory techniques but also change their whole lifestyle. You can start by avoiding vices that will hurt your brain processes. This includes smoking and drinking beyond the one bottle a day limit for women and two bottles a day for men. This is of course for beers only.

Stress is another factor that can lessen your memory skills. Stress have been shown to not only weaken the body and the immune system but also to weaken the mental processes. Since stress cannot really be avoided, you need to make sure that you find ways to relax and curtail stress. You can do this by resting your head on weekends and having enough sleep everyday. You should also start exercising and meditating which are both good for the brain.

2. Change your diet What you eat will determine who you are. This may be a cliché but it is true nonetheless. If you want to have a more powerful brain, you should make sure that you include in your diet what is often called the brain foods. These are foods that contain choline and proteins which help in the development of the brain. Examples of these brain foods are tuna, salmon and other fishes; soya, tofu, milk, peanuts and meat which are rich in proteins. Veggies and fruits also help by keeping the body strong and rich in supply of anti-oxidants. Young children in fact are encouraged to eat lots of these foods especially at that age when their brains are still developing.

3. Exercise your mind One of the reasons why the brain slows down is because it is not used as often as it should be used. There are studies in fact that support this. People who answer crossword puzzles, play strategic games and work even when they are old are less likely to have Alzheimer’s. The use of the brain is actually a preventive measure for the onset of forgetfulness during old age.

4. Use memory techniques Your brain also needs you help. It does not mean that if your brain is powerful, you will not make the job easy for it. If you want to better your memory, use memory techniques that will help you remember more. One example is the use of mnemonics, or key letters or words that will represent a whole lot of information. Another memory technique is the association, which allows you to associate an information or item with something that you can already see or what you already know.

how to help a friend in overcoming fear of flying

How to help a friend in overcoming fear of flying

Despite the reliability of air travel, many people still develop fear of flying. If you know a friend who is at risk or who already have fears of flying, you can help him or her to overcome that. What you can do is to act as a confidante in his or her trips as often as possible. Since he or she trusts you, you can try to explain to your friend that although the fears of untoward incident may happen during a flight, these don’t take place all the time.

Acting as the confidante

If he or she decides to try flying again, it would be best if you accompany your friend so he or she can have somebody to turn to once the panic attack and nervousness grip his or her senses. If you are in the same flight with a friend who is trying to overcome fear of flying here are some of the things that you can do:

1. Attend a seminar or a class about overcoming fear or flying. Today, there are so many airlines that offer classes or seminars that can help people overcome fear of flying. If it is possible for you to bring him or her there before the flight, it would be better because here, information about air travel such as flight physics, flight safety, and studies or statistics as well as various relaxation techniques are taught to help people understand the phobia.

2. Make sure that you are informed about your flight. This is an extra effort for you but you have to do this because your friend will rely on you for information during your travel. You can check all your flight details so if your friend asks something during the flight, you will know what to tell him or her, your friend will be more comfortable and relaxed knowing that she or he doesn’t have to worry about anything anymore.

3. Keep the person distracted. Since your friend has aviophobia, it is only natural for him or her to feel nervousness, vomiting, dizziness, muscle tensions and deep breathing. If you see one or two of these symptoms, you should start distracting her or him by talking to her about things that are light. If you do this, you can veer him or her away from negative thoughts. You can also distract him or her by asking her to do something such reading a magazine or play some cards with you.

4. Take time to know the pilot and cabin crew. Some people fear flying because they don’t know who are the people they are entrusting their lives with. If this is the concern of your friend, make a request for both of you to see and meet the pilot as well as to the flight attendants. If he or she sees that these people are reliable and trustworthy, your friend would be more comfortable during the entirety of the flight.

5. Stop him or her from consuming stimulants. These stimulants may include sugar, coffee and other drinks that may contain alcohol that he or she might take before or during the flight. Tell your friend that it would be best not to take these since they contain ingredients that may increase the symptoms of anxiety as well as panic attacks.

6. Make sure that you both arrive in the airport early. One of most effective ways of helping a friend in overcoming fear of flying is you get there at least two hours before the flight, you can buy more time to relax and just enjoy the flight. It is best not to go there late because it will only cause a feeling of rush that may trigger anxiety.

The meaning of success depends on the person who is asked to define such. For some, this all boils down in finding your passion. And once that is achieved, they already feel successful with whatever ventures they have decided to take. But this is not

When you are young, you think that anything is possible. As you dare to try things, you will achieve what you want to happen eventually. If you are older and you find yourself stuck at a point where you feel like you have nowhere else to go, this may be harder. You have to clear your mind of all the negativity that clouds your emotions. You need to take bigger risks and claim more than what you think you deserve.

Steps towards Your Goal

However hard the road ahead of you seems to be in order for you to get nearer to your passion, you must always be ready to take the necessary steps towards it. Here are some things that you can do in this regard to help you with where you eventually would want to go.

1. You must engage yourself in a self assessment process. You have to think about things. What have you gone through to reach this point in your life? Where are you right now? And what else do you want to happen? How do you perceive yourself two to three years from now? If that is not possible to happen that soon, what do you want to be maybe five or 10 years after?

After you have clearly seen the person that you want to be after the years that you have allotted for you to achieve that, you must look into the steps that you are undertaking to make sure that it will happen. You must review the steps that you are doing to make sure that you will become that person.

You will feel it inside you if you want to accomplish something so bad that you are willing to do anything to get there. This is when you feel like you have no more time for other things that won't help in order to become who you eventually want to be. One sign that you are at this point in your life is when you start reading articles and topics that can help you be more aware about your goals and ways to get there.

2. Your goals must be very clear to you. You know what you want to happen. You know how to get there. Verbalize your thoughts. Is that what you really want to achieve? Your words should match exactly how you feel.

3. You must not be too hard on yourself. You should keep your goals simple. And you must set each step that you will undertake easier to accomplish. This way, you will not easily give up when you are presented with unexpected situations.

Once you have settled your mind in doing the necessary steps for you to reach the goals that you have set for yourself, just proceed with it. You should not stop no matter what happens. This is something that you have to do in order to be at a happier and more fulfilled state.

After you have taken the steps in finding your passion, you must cherish your actions. You should also take good care of whatever you will eventually achieve to make sure that your hard work is rightly rewarded.

Business Groups Make the Most of Your Membership

Business groups provide excellent marketing and networking opportunities. There are many different ones to join. What you need to do is make sure you join the right business group for you and your needs, and then you need to be an active member of the business group.

There is usually more than one business group in your area. You don't want to spend all your time going to different business group meetings so you need to choose carefully. When you are looking for a group to join one rule is almost always universal:

The bigger they are the better they are. Big business groups will pull more active members out to networking events. Generally the more people that are in the room, the better the odds are that you are going to connect with the right kind of person who could be a future sweet spot client.

Regardless of the exact business group you join you have to actually attend the meetings. You won't make contacts through osmosis. When I hear someone say that they tried a business group and it didn't work for them 9 times out of 10 they went to one meeting; for whatever reason they didn't like the meeting and never went back.

Business group marketing is no different than any other type. If you are going to do a cold call campaign and the first person is rude and hangs up on you, do you retreat to the woods never to be heard from again? No. Here are some tips to help you find, persist with, and make the most of your business group membership.

Don't go into a meeting with a negative, intimidated or apprehensive attitude. This will show through to the business group members.

Check out all the business groups within a one-hour radius. Don't settle on the first one you come across.

Go to at least two business group meetings before you decide it is right for you.

Be patient. Don't go in expecting to meet your magic client within an hour.

Force yourself to move out of your comfort zone and mingle and schmooze with the best of them. Seek out other people who look awkward and start by talking to them.

Find the accountants, engineers, controllers, operations managers; all those analytical types who aren't tremendously gregarious or who aren't born talkers. All these people make fantastic contacts for future referrals and business because a lot of them are the IT decision makers in small companies.

The Bottom Line on Business Groups

Business group membership gives you access to the decision makers in the companies your business is targeting. The most important thing to remember is that you will get out of your business group experience what you put in. Don't give up at the first sign of disillusionment. Find the right business group to join and make the most of every meeting.

Copyright MMI-MMVI, Small Business Computer Consulting .com. You can, however, follow some guidelines to make sure that your goals are credible and possible. Too many individuals set their

Being Specific

Goals need to be specific, so that you know which part of the process you're currently in and the particular ways on how you will achieve it. Most people have goals to get promoted, get rich, improve relationship and the like, but these are very vague and your mind can become confused about what you truly mean. General descriptions usually do not have boundaries, so you always leave room for mistakes and compromise. If you want results that you can be proud of, be specific.

To be specific, you need to include the full details. Write down something like, "I want to get $1 million by October of this year." or "I need to become key supervisor of the sales division by next week." or "I want my kids, Taylor and Chad, to become best friends beginning tomorrow." Include the names, the position, the amount, the date and everything else needed to train your mind to start working towards that goal.

Being Measurable

Goals need to be measurable so that you can gauge how well you have done lately. To help measure your paths and goals, you should include measurable details. For your job, you can include details such as the number of hours you're working, the amount you're earning, the staff you're handling, etc. For the goal of money, you can include details such as the amount you want to have as a whole, the number of companies or businesses you own, your contact persons, etc. Always have things and items to be measured so you can understand how close you are to getting your goals. If your goal is to earn $100,000 a month, then you know you're halfway there if you're already earning $50,000 a month.

Being Attainable and Realistic

Only set goals that can possibly be accomplished. Some people set goals that are too high to reach, that they are almost setting up things that are impossible. Make sure you only set objectives that you can reach within a given amount of time, provided the current resources and capabilities you have. Some examples of impossible goals are doubling your salary overnight, getting a promotion higher than your boss's position, etc. Some goals can be achieved faster compared to others if you have some strengths and paths to back these up. Always include a strategic plan for big objectives.

Time-Bound

Set deadlines to achieve your goals or else you'll never going to finish anything. Stay specific when setting timelines and schedules. For example, indicate things like "To spend an hour with my wife everyday starting tomorrow (indicate exact date and year)". Setting the exact time and date will spur you to start working on your goals, instead of putting it off for another available time. Some goals can take years to accomplish so it is wiser to break these down into smaller objectives, still complete with deadlines. You can finish everything in a sequence to finally reach the biggest one.

Are you homeless Does your Soul have a Home

Are you homeless? Does your Soul have a Home? – By Joseph Ghabi

How do you feel when you see homeless people on the street? Many of us feel disgusted when we look at them and others do not even acknowledge their existence as if they’re worthless and irrelevant. Some of us even consider them as being nothing but drunks and junkies. We all have different ways of interpreting the lives of these people, but in the end, we all believe that they are less fortunate than ourselves.

Some of us already understand that perhaps something in a homeless person’s life went wrong and forced them to be where they are. Some people might even say that a homeless person became that way because the pressures of living in society drove them to it. Perhaps they felt misunderstood because they were too ‘open’ and in touch with their deeper soul essence, when unfortunately our limited society is yet unable to recognize philosophies and life ideas from the nature of a soul perspective. Those people likely ended up lost and feeling ‘out of place’ wandering around with a feeling that nothing in their lives really matters in terms of their understanding from a higher level. It can be very difficult to survive in a world where the ‘mundane’ seems to matter most.

It has even been discovered that some of the homeless are rich! So it is not always the case that they are less fortunate than us in a financial sense. I recall a situation that happened some time ago, a homeless man was discovered dead and they found out he had over 3 million dollars stashed away in his bank! In the end, whether they are rich or poor, these people are still homeless right now and why?

I checked the internet for the definition of the word ‘home’ and I found this interesting definition “An environment providing security and happiness”. So there are many of us in the world who have a roof over our head, yet we neither feel secure or happy. Do we think we are any more fortunate than the people living on the streets who do not have a building to live in? Are we any more human in essence than those people because we claim to own a few slabs of concrete? Tell me, don’t we still have many issues to deal with even though we have a place to live in, probably even more issues to deal with than those people who do not have the responsibility of maintaining a ‘home establishment’. As an example, what is the difference between a homeless person drinking alcohol to compensate for his or her problems and doing the same thing in the comfort of our own dwelling? If you ask me there is no difference at all, it is only a matter of status!

How do we define someone who is homeless? A homeless person is simply a person without a place to live. The number of homeless people is growing rapidly all over the world and what are we doing about it? Nothing really! It seems to be more important to us to go to the moon or mars and creates bombs worth millions of dollars! What the hell, if we can’t solve any of our problems then let’s just blow ourselves away!

In terms of the rest of us who consider ourselves fortunate for having a roof over our head, would you ever think of yourself as being homeless? I bet most of you are now saying “NO, HELL NO! What are you talking about? I have a home, two cars, a home theatre, a Nintendo machine or an Xbox, many games. I go out every week and have fun!” Let’s now consider the definition of the word ‘home’ once again ‘An environment providing security and happiness’. Now with that in mind, let me clarify my question again. With all that you have materially and aesthetically in your life today, are you sincerely happy in your life? How many times per day are you aware of a deep sense of loneliness? Do you ever feel an inner emptiness and as though there is something missing in life, yet you do not know what it is?

Most of us do feel this way on a regular basis, but are unable to determine what the problem is. We keep buying more and more stuff; we keep ourselves busy eating, drinking, smoking, entertaining and getting wasted on alcohol and drugs in order to avoid dealing with life. We can deny it for as long as we like, but in the end it is us who suffers and regardless of how we try to suppress things, that feeling that we are lonely, unhappy and that we are missing something will not go away. How many of us have bought stuff, yet in reality we don’t really have space for any more stuff in our life? How many of us are bored with life? How many of us feel a prevailing sense of lack of purpose?

The reason we came to this plane in the first place was because our Soul made the decision to do so. Then we were born. On the other hand, had your soul decided not to come to spend a life in this plane, you would not be here today. So if your soul decided to come here for a purpose and you are not living up to that and carrying out your souls task, then you will always feel you are missing something in your life. You will always feel that inexplicable void and loneliness deep inside of you; you might not feel truly happy.

What is it that prevents us from fulfilling our Souls task? It is quite simply our human limitations, our stubbornness, our fear of experiencing humility, our pride, our ego and our resistance to change that prevents us. When you try to fulfill your life with material things as a substitute for connecting to your Soul, this will never substitute for the need to look more deeply into your life and its purpose.

Making yourself appear happy on the outside in front of everyone, yet when you are alone you are as miserable as can be, serves no purpose at all. After all, is it just about appearances?? Who is getting hurt in reality? Living superficially will never bring harmony into your life for a simple reason, you are contradicting yourself. The funny part here is that many of us are somehow aware that we are living in this way, yet we still keep on doing it! My question is just how long are you prepared to keep it up? Will it be until the day you die and leave this earth life without accomplishing much of what your soul had intended in the first place? That is a waste of a lifetime.

My questions to you now are very simple. Are you homeless? Does your Soul have a home? Take a deeper look at your self, into your own being and take a good look at what you are doing with your life. Is this the life you really want to live and the path you desire to continue walking on? In reality, life is simple, yet on most occasions, we make things more complicated than necessary. From now on, just set yourself free and begin doing things for yourself and for the right reasons and always with a pure intention. Try to discover what is good for your soul and then do it! Most of all, always remember you are never ever alone! There is no single famous individual person in history who achieved several goals in life without working it off. Being industrious means working harder than anyone else, studying more than anyone else and even suffering more than anyone else. You have to understand the importance of delayed gratification as you work towards your ultimate goal. To begin hard work, you can begin by fixing your schedule, writing down tasks and functions of the day and finding the right people and resources that can assist you. Keep in mind that you have to be as independent as possible to finish more in the long term.

Discipline and Consistency

Discipline is what separates the leaders from the followers. If you truly want to make changes in your life, you have to understand doing things even if you do not want to at times, and maintaining excellent quality and optimum performance each time. Being consistent is intertwined with patience, wherein you continue performing well, regardless of the situations and hindrances, to render the results you want in the end.

Discipline and consistency are also interrelated, in the sense that discipline breeds consistency. If you continue practicing good habits and sticking to the functions that lead to your main goal, you will find it easier to do over time. You will change as an entire person and experience the opportunities that come with being dedicated.

Resilience

Problems are a part of every man's life, but it is the resilient person who always prevails and achieves their goals. You need to learn from your past mistakes and convert these into more productive actions the next time. Learn to pick yourself up after each fall and put in double effort to become better. Some of the most successful people, as well as those who truly left a mark in history are known to have faced big difficulties and resentment before they let others understand their own way of doing things.

Optimism

You need to stay positive about your situation, regardless of the problems that you face. It is vital that you stay optimistic and always believe that you will get to your goal, no matter what. If you tell yourself that you will reach it sooner, chances are you will. It might help to believe in the powers of the Universal Law of Attraction which draws opportunities toward you just the way you intend to, and in the right intensity as you desired.

Patience

Some goals are very big and will take time to accomplish. Do not allow yourself to think that some goals are just too huge to be possible. Be specific and set goals that are attainable to your current situation and start working to achieve these. You can break it down into smaller tasks that are much easier to do within the given timeframe that you have.

Stress Management For Self Improvement

Stress has always been a part of our daily lives. We often find ways to deal it with but can become unbearable when you're tightly under its grip. The important part here is to take control of stress before it ends up controlling you -- which is to say that you will be making a lot of mistakes that will take quite a lot of time and effort to fix. This is where stress management comes in.

Why Get Rid Of Stress

We can never deny the fact that stress can be a big hindrance in everything you plan to do with your life. It can get in the way of business, career, or even with your family and friends. If you give in to the irritation and anger that is often the result of stress, you are bound to make wrong decisions and plenty of mistakes that will bring you down.

You can lose your job, do badly in a business deal, or even make enemies left and right when you let your stress control you. Learn to control stress and get rid of it every time it crops up for self-improvement.

Find The Source Of Your Stress

Knowing the source of your stress gives you plenty of options to counter it. If your stress stems from overwork, then take some time off from your busy schedule to relax. The home can also become a stressful environment, especially when it's disorganized. If you think that the design of the interior is giving you problems, then take some time to rearrange the furniture around or add some home décor to make it comfortable to look at. Once you are able to determine the problem then you can take the necessary steps to correct it.

Learn To Relax Once In A While

Everyone would agree that work, or the demands of work, is mostly the cause of stress. If you think that you have that wild look in your eyes every time your boss asks you to do something, then you better ask for a vacation leave to relax yourself outside your work area before it leads you into trouble.

Take some time off from your busy schedule and visit the local spa. Pamper yourself by indulging in a full-body massage or get an aromatherapy session going on to help you relax. You can always take a vacation if you really want to get the thoughts of work out of your system, but a massage will do just fine if you can't afford to be absent from it.

Find The Child Within You

Kids are known to be stress-free. Even if you scold them or force them to eat vegetables, you will never see them suffer from stress. The reason here is with their mindset to enjoy life as they see fit. You can take your cue from them and enjoy life more.

Find your inner child and just play. You can grab your Playstation out of the cabinet and bring out the games you usually play during your free time. Another idea is to listen to your favorite music or read some comics on the Internet. You can even play online games if you like just to get your mind off your work.

Keep in mind that the gist of stress management is not the methods you take for getting stress out of your system. The idea here is to learn how to divert your mind from the problems that causes stress to give yourself time to relax and face the problem with a clear mind.

A Simple Guide To Meditation To Help You Deal With Stress

Meditation is one of the techniques used in stress management. A person who is riddled with problems often finds it hard to focus; which often leads to more problems cropping up due to their mistakes. Meditation techniques helps a person achieve a calm state of mind without having to resort to drugs or relaxation tools and implements. Every step to meditation is done in the mind.

Remember that meditation is not a one shot deal. It is almost impossible to attain a calm state of mind in just a matter of minutes, especially if it's your first time at it. It is essential that you keep on practicing meditation until you have conditioned your mind to instantaneously achieve the state just by thinking it.

Here are some steps for a beginner to start with meditation as their Stress Management strategy.

Step 1: Find A Quiet Corner To Start Your Meditation

Distraction is a hindrance to those who are still starting out with meditation. When you close your eyes, your sense of hearing will be twice as good so it is quite possible to hear almost anything in your surroundings that will make it hard for you to concentrate.

For beginners, it is important to start out in a quiet place in your home where noise is non-existent. Close your windows and lock your door. If possible, you can tell everyone in your home to minimize their noise so that you won't get distracted.

Step 2: Ready Your Position

It is advisable for beginners to avoid lying down when practicing meditation. The aim here is not to sleep, and it is a guarantee that you will immediately fall off to sleep if your mind reaches a relaxed state. To stop this from happening, you can start your meditation in a lotus position or you can find a chair you can sit on. Make sure that your back is straight and your hands are relaxed on the armrest or on your lap.

Step 3: Begin Your Meditation With Proper Breathing

A good way to start meditation is to do the proper breathing exercise. You inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth. This way, you can come up with a rhythm that you can easily focus on. Also, the amount of oxygen in your body will be enough to keep you relaxed. Keep practicing your breathing until you can do it easily without having to think about it.

Step 4: Focus On Your Mind

While you are busy with your breathing, you will achieve a state wherein your mind will start throwing images at you. These are mostly in random -- events of the day, future plans, problems and worries, fears and so on. It will be hard to ignore these thoughts and you are not supposed to ignore them. The gist here is to focus on these thoughts without really paying any attention to it.

This might sound hard but a here is a simple example to understand the concept. You know that you have furniture at home -- you can see them clearly with your eyes but you are not really concentrating on it. Focusing on the furniture will usually make you think of its color, its material, how it looks in that part of your home, and more. You need to be able to look at these random thoughts in a detached state -- seeing them clearly in your head but not focusing your attention on it.

There will come a time that these random thought will stop and you will notice that you are already in a blank space in your mind. This is the state you want to achieve during meditation. This is the place where you can think about your problems and focus on it till you can find a solution for it. With this, you have successfully mastered the basics of meditation for your stress management program.

One of the techniques being used right now anywhere from fighting off addictions as well as in improving concentration and learning is self-hypnosis, which is one form of hypnosis that allows the person to take on the responsibility for the procedur

One of the most common problems that self-hypnosis is used for is for self-improvement. People who want to improve their social skills or manage their anger better can utilize self-hypnosis to unlearn or relearn what they need to. There are also some in the medical fields that use this procedure in order to lessen the impact of pain and physical symptoms. Self-hypnosis after all can fool the brain and make it believe that there is no more pain.

Critics of the procedure have however argued that the change in behavior and in overall wellbeing is not true and is only temporary. It is only there as long as self-hypnosis is effective but the change is only artificial and the root of the problem is only masked and not removed.

Still fans of this procedure have attested to its effectiveness especially in getting rid of bad habits and freeing themselves from chronic body pain. Besides, as they would argue, these people have learned these bad habits and that self-hypnosis will only make unlearning it easier and faster. Still, if you feel that you are comfortable with a professional controlling you, it is recommended that you have a professional perform the hypnosis instead of doing it yourself. Besides having full control over the procedure, they will also be more in the know regarding it.

To get started with self-hypnosis, you will of course need a professional hypnotist to guide you. These people will be the ones to help you with the instructions and the procedure. The whole procedure is different for every person. Some people will find it easier to manage while others can completely lose into it. After all, they will basically depend on the subconscious and will need to have the strength of mind to deal with it.

Self-hypnosis may not however be as effective as being done by a professional but the peace of mind and independence that you get from knowing that you are in control can mean a lot to some people. This knowledge of having the power to change yourself sometimes make up for the limitations that self-hypnosis brings to the table. The progress for instance with self-hypnosis may not be as fast with one professionally done. But as most patients have already implied, slow but sure is better than making a major change through the hands of an incompetent hypnotist.

There is no need to worry about safety. Just because you are doing it does not mean that it is any less safe. There is no truth to the claims that self-hypnosis can open the mind for the devil to enter or that people can get crazy because of it. A person under self-hypnotic state will have the same safeguards as with ordinary life. Actually, there is not much difference. The difference lies in the segment of the person’s personality that he or she wishes to change.

All in all self-hypnosis is an effective tool in curbing bad habits and lessening pain but the jury is still out on whether it can go mainstream.

Business Networking and Marketing Ups and Downs

Title:

Word Count: 827

Summary: The last couple of days have been beautiful, the weather near perfect and some of us are suffering from spring fever while others are simply struggling with the pollen levels. This time of the year reminds me that summer is coming and things are about to slow down – in networking. I would like to take just a moment and discuss this trend and what I believe may be the cause of it.

Let’s begin in the fall. At this time of the year we are working feverishly trying to procure new business because we realize that around the holidays things will slow down. As December draws near, some of us become preoccupied with things like parties and shopping and our attention turns from building our business. Others find it increasingly difficult to make contact as people begin long vacations.

Then the holidays pass. We put our marketing and networking efforts into high gear, going to several meetings a week, trying to get things cranked up again. The result is increased business and increased profits. Have you ever noticed that in the early part of February that things begin to pick up almost at a maddening pace? When this occurs, unless we are prepared for growth, we start to back off on our promotions as we scramble to complete the work that has been generated by our marketing efforts.

In effect, we stop networking. We lose contact with those we have been making and asking for referrals, and they begin to feel as if we are not interested in them any longer. When this happens, they may look for someone else to refer when that target prospect comes along.

By early to mid summer, we are starting to crawl out from under the workload and we again look for opportunities. Unfortunately, the vacations have started again as children are released from school for the summer. Thus it is very difficult once again to find the contacts that were out there just before our business picked up again late last winter.

By mid August, school is back in session and people are coming back out into the networking world again. Of course we are seeing some of the same people that were there before, but there are also a lot of new faces as well. Because we had slacked off from our promotion efforts, we were not there to greet the new faces as they started their new business. So the people who have a balanced networking and marketing strategy are there to greet them.

These are the people who have businesses that seem to be growing. They have a marketing and networking plan that is consistent year round. When many businesses are experiencing that new business rush in the spring, these business owners are ready to absorb the new business with new employees or temporary help. They realize that to maintain growth means to be ready for any upswing in the economy that could propel their business to the next level.

So how do we accomplish this? First plan for growth. Have a system ready for when you have more business than you can handle so that there is help you can call. This is managed by building relationships with temp agencies, headhunters, and placement firms. Hire people on a contractor basis if necessary. This saves money on benefits and salaries when thing are a bit slower. It also reduces the amount of paperwork when it comes to payroll processing and taxes.

Next, develop a plan for networking that is manageable. Set a goal for the amount of meetings that you would attend when business is just OK and stick to it when business gets better. Attend functions year round, even during the holiday seasons.

Plan vacations when necessary, but don’t assume that everyone is going on vacation simply because it is summer. Most people have to accommodate the schedules of others and entire companies usually do not go on vacation at the same time. Notice that larger corporations always have staff on hand to do business while an employee is on vacation. Also take note that large corporations do not stop promoting just because it is the month of July or December. They are consistent year round.

The lesson here is that, if you want to grow into a large company, take a look at what large companies do. Emulate them if they are successful and you may be able to duplicate their success. You must be constantly marketing, networking and promoting to ensure consistent business year round. If you decide to slack off now because business is good, I guarantee that when autumn comes you will be working twice as hard to get things going again. If, on the other hand, you keep on consistently marketing the way you did when times were slow, you should be able to experience the growth of both your company and your bank account during the entire year.

Self-hypnosis is a new procedure that is taking the country by storm. Despite being relatively new compared to the usual hypnosis procedures with professionals, self-hypnosis has enjoyed a lot of buzz in recent years. This is perhaps due to the fact

Although the same control can still be seen in self-hypnosis, that control will largely come from the patients themselves. There is no more hypnotist involved that can manipulate you into doing things that you don’t want to do and not know that you are doing at all. This time the control and the power to change will be all in your hands. The procedure actually answers two of the things that critics question about hypnosis itself.

The first one is the idea that a person other than yourself is controlling you and is entering your mind. Mind control is something that people still fear about until now. With self-hypnosis, there will be no hypnotist. Although they will be there to teach you the basics and guide you through the procedure as well as check on your progress, all the hypnosis will be in your hands. You will have control of your own mind, which is how things should be even in real life.

The next thing is the fact that you are not some kind of patsy that will just sit around and let things happen to you through the hypnotist. Now there is an effort coming from the patient itself. Change is no longer something done to you. Now you can do it yourself. A lot of the critics of hypnosis in the first place comes from the fact that people are not actively involved in the process. They are only recipients of the cure instead of being the problem solvers themselves.

This is especially true when it is used to curb a bad habit or get over an addiction. When attempting to change, a person should work hard at it otherwise, it will not be a change that comes from something internal. As they say easy come, easy go. Self-hypnosis however changes this fact as the patients themselves are active problem solvers being the hypnotist themselves.

One downside of self-hypnosis is the fact that it is done by an amateur— the patient who will probably know nothing about hypnosis except that fact that it can somehow solve his problem. Although the hypnotist will be there to guide you, an amateur will still be the one to handle everything and when you really think about it, will any sane person let an amateur get hold of their minds even if those persons are themselves? This is why one of the things that are often asked about self-hypnosis is its safety. According to experts, it is as safe as any hypnosis procedure, maybe even safer because at least this way, you can be sure that you are dealing with someone who is not there to con you.

Another disadvantage of self-hypnosis is the slow progress. Still, responses of people will also depend on whether they are receptive to the task or not. There are people who are more suggestible than other people and those who are not so suggestible will surely find it hard to find change.

An Attitude of Gratitude

William James said, “The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind. “

So many times people become discontent with their lives and surroundings and is it any wonder? There is a whole industry set up to make us feel inadequate. We are not thin enough, or not rich enough, or not hip enough because we are not buying the latest products on the market. The message rings loud and clear: We are not good enough!!! .

How many times have you found yourself saying, “If only _________ then I could be happy “ The problem is that if we get caught up in this way of thinking we will never be happy because there is always something more we will think we need to complete our lives.

Paul Reid said, “Poverty is a state of mind often brought on by the neighbours new car” In other words, when we see our friends and neighbours acquiring things, we often feel poor because we cannot afford these luxuries. But, in reality we are not poverty stricken, we only think we are poor. This state of mind is purely relative to whom you are comparing yourself to. If you were to change your thinking and look at the homeless, then you would realize how truly rich you are. You have a roof over your head, and food on the table. Okay, so maybe it’s not your dream house and maybe you are eating peanut butter sandwiches and not caviar, but you are sheltered and fed. Believe it or not, some people do not even have these basics.

Most people do not realize the benefits of gratitude. When we sit and think about all the things we want but don’t have we set ourselves up in a downward spiral of disappointment and negative thinking which can lead to overwork, and depression. Gratitude, on the other hand, lifts our spirits and gives us a clearer focus on life as it really is. We will be content with what we have and therefore our attitude will bring us a spirit of peace and contentment.

You may say to yourself, but I don’t have much! Well then be thankful for the little things you do have. Do you have a roof over your head? Do you have someone who loves you? Do you have someone you love? Do you have food on your table? Do you have your health? Do you have a job? Do you have a pillow to sleep on?...a blanket to keep warm? Do you have your sanity? These are little things but even the smallest things we can be thankful for.

Someone once said, “If you haven’t all the things you want, at least be grateful for the things you don’t have that you wouldn’t want.”

There is always something we can find to be grateful for.

I know this sounds simplistic and I know that there are always things that many of us truly need…but if we start changing our attitudes and develop an attitude of gratitude then we will be in a better position to allow our positive thoughts to direct us in a way in which we can achieve more.

Gratitude is the first step in achieving the things you want to achieve in life. Viki King said, “You won't be happy with more until you're happy with what you've got.”

Let us make every effort to get rid of these negative thoughts that hinder our life’s journey and learn to develop positive thoughts that will help us achieve our goals.

Don’t wait until Thanksgiving rolls around each year to be thankful. Make it a point to develop in your daily life an attitude of Gratitude.

The Many Faces of Stress

Stress affects each individual differently, according to the cause and its effects. Therefore, there are different kinds of stress as recognized by clinical and research studies. It is important for an individual to recognize the cause of stress in order to know how to deal with it, and hopefully reduce stress levels. Moreover, each type of stress have different approaches to treatment.

Basically, there are three known types of stress: acute stress, episodic acute stress, and chronic stress. However, a fourth kind – psychological stress – is also becoming more prevalent and is considered as a legitimate type of stress.

Acute Stress

This is the most common form of stress, which results from the pressures one is subjected to in their everyday life. In small doses of acute stress, it can actually be beneficial to an individual. Think of athletes that are about to compete in an event. They experience acute stress, which triggers the production of adrenaline and giving them a burst of energy needed to perform their best.

The symptoms for this type of stress are easily recognizable and mostly affects a person only in a short term. Common symptoms include back or neck pain, muscular tensions, headache, rapid heartbeat, sweaty palms, cold hands or feet.

Episodic Acute Stress

As mentioned above, acute stress is quite common to most people. However, there are a few others who experience it more often than others. These people are the ones who are so focused on achieving organization and yet always fail when it comes to performance. Therefore, it is not surprising that they often become irritable, if not with themselves then their initial environment. This also explains why they find the workplace quite a stressful environment.

Other forms of episodic acute stress are those people who keep worrying. They have become so pessimistic about the environment that they always project something wrong would happen. Hence, they end up feeling awful, tense, or anxious without having clear reasons for feeling that way.

Chronic Stress

This is the type of stress that wears one out. Plus, it builds up over time and can produce long-term effects on a person, whether emotionally or physically. Most forms of chronic stress are caused by trauma that they find difficult to let go and so it continues to disrupt their everyday lives.

One problem with chronic stress is that people often believe that it is something that is innate to them and that they cannot get rid of. Thus, it makes treating this condition difficult because it is often ignored by the person affected by it. It can, however, be treated through stress management procedures and behavioral treatment.

Psychological Stress

Stress has its own set of complexity. With the different types stated above, psychological stress concerns more of a person's ability to respond to a given situation. To be specific, the loss of that ability. During dangerous situations, your body produces hormones known as adrenaline and cortisol that prompts the body to make a response.

Compare this to charging a battery that produces high voltage that must be discharged. In the case of a person suffering from psychological stress, the body fails to discharge that burst of energy that is produced. The continued raise in your heart rate and the production of adrenaline could result to fatal problems in your heart.

There are several reasons as to how one acquires psychological stress but it can include trauma suffered from an emotionally disturbing event in the past or other emotional anxiety. The problem with people suffering from psychological stress is that they tend to induce more stress in their lives by subjecting themselves to stressful situations. Today, several groups hold counseling to help those who suffer from this condition and regain control over their life.

Nowadays, people are now going back to older and natural practices because they know that the modern times have been causing them too much stress. In most cases, a person who is under the grip of stress is often plagued with physical ailments, emotional problems, or even mental and behavioral changes that can affect your lifestyle.

There are different techniques and tricks that a person can use to deal with their own stress and problems. Proper intake and distribution of oxygen throughout your body can help keep our mind clear and focused. Also breathing exercises serves as a prologue to meditation.

Ask The Help Of A Professional

If you are having problems in dealing with stress on your own, then its fine time to look for a professional to help you out. However, there are a few naturally stressful jobs due to the type of service or the industry to which they belong. Given that you are subjected to these stressors on a daily basis, it is important for you to find mean

Medical Care Professions

Doctors, nurses, social workers, or medical assistants have an understandably stressful job. The nature of the job in itself is quite difficult, given that the health and well-being of others are put in your hands. Plus, there is an added pressure of their action potentially resulting to negative impacts to one's health. Therefore, so much weighing in on their job that there's almost no room for mistakes.

One way to deal with stress is to identify its source, in order to determine the proper coping mechanism to employ. This will also doctors and other medical professionals to learn how to cope with the possibility of committing mistakes while on the job since that is one of the leading causes of reduced performance levels.

Law Enforcement Jobs

As with the medical professionals, there are also a lot weighing on law enforcers. It is, after all, their responsibility to protect the community, maintain peace and order, and employ judicial efforts. That is aside from the personal security risks involved.

You can eliminate or reduce stress in your profession by giving yourself a break in between. This will allow your body and mind to recuperate from the amount of work you'd have to deal with. Since law enforcers typically have a lot of work on their itinerary, having proper time management and organizational skills will also help you deal with stress.

Teaching Professions

While there are a few who enjoy the teaching profession, it does reach a stressful level too. First off, dealing with a wide range of kids can be difficult, much more being able to successfully teach them. Inner city teachers are also considered being in a stressful job since these types of environments are rather harmful due to the high levels of crime known in these areas. On top of this, teachers are also expected to attain an emotional relationship with students as a vital aspect in learning. They are also under the close scrutiny of the community, which continually expects them to be role models in the society.

Teachers can deal with these stressors by trying these strategies:

• Be flexible. This will enable you to adjust to the differences in your students' behavior and opening up more opportunities to build an emotional relationship with them. • Set realistic goals. When you aim to teach your students something, you need to take it one day at a time. If not, then it will only frustrate you and lead to further stress. • Take care of yourself, whether physically or mentally.

Jobs Involving Sales

This type of jobs are very stressful knowing that your employment lies on your ability to produce sales. Jobs involving sales therefore require you to meet high levels of standards and often requires you to deal with the public and their demands. Since most of the stress involved in this job is associated with the results, learn how to not focus much on the results. Instead, if you are really in line with sales, use your skills and creativity to get people to buy the products you are trying to sell. After all, potential buyers know how to spot hard sellers. And if you do end up one, you'd become all the more stressed out.

Telecommuting Jobs

This is one naturally stressful job description, from having to meet deadlines to taking care of multiple clients and their inquiries. One way to reduce stress is to examine ways in which you can produce more organization into your work. If you want to achieve more work in less time, you must try to keep off any type of distraction so you can work peacefully and at a pace that you like.

Whenever you feel stressed out, give yourself a break and do some deep breathing. Another contributor to stress is when you force yourself to speed up the pace. Try to slow down once in a while, especially when most of your deadlines are self-imposed. The less stress you have with the job, the more productive you become.

Dealing with too much work will most certainly contribute to the amount of stress you are already experiencing in the workplace. Much of the stress is rooted in the problem associated with managing the amount of work. It is probably the biggest sourc

Stress and Work Overload

Any working individual have experienced work overload at some point. And yet, it impacts an individual greatly that he or she experiences stress and fatigue from it. While it is inevitable, its long-term effect is not good at all.

When you begin to feel stressed out with a heavy workload or start to exhibit symptoms such as over fatigue, headaches, or muscular tension, then you need to identify the cause of stress. First, it can be produced by pressures from your boss or colleagues. Or it could be internal, which results when you put too much pressure on yourself to meet certain job expectations. Internal work overload is a more difficult problem to deal with because it is self-induced.

There are certain methods that you can apply to relieve yourself off stress from having to attend too much work.

Time Management

The source of stress related to a heavy workload is due to lack of time to be able to squeeze in all those work. Hence, you can use proper time management method as an effective stress relief for excessive workload. A heavy routine is definitely a culprit for stress at work, so you need to develop the method of how to maximize your time without stressing yourself out.

The best start to improved time management skills is a change of attitude. You need to be focused on results since this will affect how you execute your activities. Start off by assessing how you handle your time as of the moment. Were you able to maximize the value of time? Are you meeting your priorities and their deadlines? Unless you determine this, you cannot make that initial step towards change.

Then, begin to organize your list of jobs according to the most important or urgent ones. By doing this, you'd never have to find yourself scrambling to finish something. Then, you can adjust your pace once you have accomplished those important tasks without any added pressure.

Making a To-Do List

This is a very basic yet fundamental method that you can apply for yourself. However, its success only relies on your ability to strictly follow them. One way it can help you reduce the amount of stress by providing yourself assurance that you were able to focus on the important tasks first and complete them on time.

Making a to-do list is mostly important when you have multiple set of tasks to attend to. This is one way for you to get organized, since losing focus is inevitable. More than a reminder, it is a ready guide for you to consult to with regards to what needs to be done first so you feel less burdened by having to sort things out yourself.

Performing Job Analysis

Pressures from the job typically come from your desire to meet expectations, which ends up with you accepting workloads than in reality you cannot actually keep up with. Hence, you need to re-analyze your job description to determine exactly what is expected of you. Consequently, you will also be enlightened about what your job priorities are and specify exactly what activities you need to fulfill.

Only then will you regain control over your work, instead of slaving yourself with it. If you are so keen on making an impression on your boss, you need to understand that stress relief must be your focus. After all, stress can impact your job performance and reduce your level of productivity.

Those who spend more time with their works tend to suffer from stress more than the other. In fact, you can do it anytime and anywhere if you feel like it. You can do it while at your work desk, in the comfort room, or even out in the lobby. The idea here is to control your mind to relax so that you can continue fresh with your task -- emotionally, physically, and mentally. Here are some tips that will surely help you out.

Tip # 1: Understand The Cause Of Your Stress

You will never be able to get rid of stress if you don’t know what's causing it. The first stress management tip you might want to apply is to determine what stressed you out. If it is the project you are working on, your boss, or with your work mates then take some time to determine what about them that gave you stress. Feel free to list them down if you want to keep track of it.

Tip # 2: Learn To Relax Your Mind

Relaxation is a very useful stress management technique. Having a clear and focused mind can help in dealing with problems even before they blow up on your faces. You can relax by doing light meditation, breathing exercise, or simply get out for a breath of fresh air. Try to stop thinking about the cause for a few minutes to clear your head.

Keep in mind that there are different ways to help you relax. You can do yoga or a deep meditation exercise during your break. If you don’t know where to start, then you can buy self-help books that detail the steps to help you get started. If you have a ready access to the Internet, feel free to look for relaxation tips online and apply it at your leisure.

Tip # 3: Indulge In After-Work Pampering

If you have some free time off from work then you might want to take advantage of this by pampering yourself in the local spa. You don’t have to undergo a complete full-body pampering treatment just to help you relax. A simple massage or aromatherapy session will do. Keep in mind that a massage can be a relaxation technique for both the mind and the body so having one during your free time will help you relax enough to face the burden of work with a fresh mind.

Make This A Daily Habit

Integrate your stress management techniques with your daily lifestyle if you want to be good at it for your self-improvement project. Doing it just because you got stressed with work is not a good way to practice stress management. You need to keep practicing your chosen method or technique until you can do it instantaneously. Learn to relax every single time when you're at work and you will surely see that no amount of bickering with your boss or noise from your workmates will stress you out.

Stress has always been a part of our daily lives. We often find ways to deal it with but can become unbearable when you're tightly under its grip. The important part here is to take control of stress before it ends up controlling you -- which is to s

<media:rating>nonadult</media:rating>
