Dragons: Fact or Fable? - Answers in Genesis is one of the latest offerings from AiG to amuse the skeptics and to numb the senses of the believer.

Many dragon legends such as what we find outside the Bible could be embellished, but the basic characteristics of dragons can be found in known creatures. Some dragon descriptions fit well with certain dinosaurs. Fossil pterosaurs reveal dragon-like wings. Certain beetles shoot out burning chemicals, so is a fire-breathing dragon really that far-fetched?

Right. I see. So since a beetle can shoot hot chemicals out it's rear, a lizard can blow fire out it's nose? Are you daft?

Land and air dragons would have been taken on Noah’s Ark and probably existed for some time afterward... But they died out due to the curse of sin, with factors such as environmental and habitat changes, food source problems, genetic mutations, and diseases. Also, man most likely played a role in the demise of dragons, as we read in the legends of dragon slayers.

What was to prevent the "dragons" from landing on top of the ark and hitching a ride or using the contents as food? After all, the wooden ark would be no match for their fire breathing abilities, right?

Not to mention where is the evidence? Show us a fossil, Hammy! What's that? You don't need evidence cause the bible says they must have existed is all the evidence you need? Get lost. That dog won't hunt. Put up the evidence or shut up.

Right or Left, if you have been following the news the last few days regarding the Obama administration's abuse of power violating the privacy of US Citizens at large, you should be angry as hell.

According to a top-secret document obtained by The Washington Post, The National Security Agency and the FBI are tapping directly into the central servers of nine leading U.S. Internet companies, extracting audio and video chats, photographs, e-mails, documents, and connection logs that enable analysts to track foreign targets. The companies allegedly in cahoots with feds are Microsoft, Google, Yahoo!, Facebook, PalTalk, Youtube, Skype, AOL (are they really still around?), and Apple. Dropbox, the cloud storage service, is described as “coming soon.”

When questioned, these companies have denied knowledge and involvement in this PRISM program, but why should we believe that? The presentation that accompanied the release of PRISM's existence made clear that the NSA regarded the identities of its private partners as PRISM’s most sensitive secret. Is it possible that the chief security officers were not even made privy to the existence of the government's access to their servers as the entry point is some lower level employee thinking he is doing his country a favor?

Also of note is that the NSA is not chartered for domestic survalence. The Fourth Amendment provides: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized." In addition, the NSA's United States Signals Intelligence Directive 18 (USSID 18) strictly prohibits the "acquiring [of] information concerning the domestic activities of United States persons".

This is reprehensible! Not only is the NSA violating their own charter, they are now violating the 4th Amendment!

We have completely lost control of our government. They ignore the law and Constitution. How can we trust them anymore? How can we regain positive control? If we don't do something, we are headed for a very dark place.

If you browse around various church websites you will soon find a statement of faith that contains something like the following:

We believe…

That the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, fully Inspired without error in the original manuscripts, and the infallible rule of faith and practice. (emphasis added)

So the scriptures are without error in their original manuscripts? What's the bloody point? The original manuscripts are long gone, turned to dust and lost to time. There is literally no way to know how true to the originals the existing translations really are. Hell, the originals could claim that Jesus wanted everyone to run around naked and fuck dolphins for all we know!

Mississippi schools are violating the establishment clause

Northwest Rankin High is being sued by several students for violating the First Amendment. They have been holding mandatory assemblies for students over a course of several weeks in where a baptist minister has been coming into preach the "gospel".

The School did not inform the students what the presentation at the Senior Assembly would be about or who would be making it. The students were only told that attendance at the assembly was required. Once the students and faculty arrived in the PAB, a student member (the “Church Representative”) of Pinelake Baptist Church started to give a presentation about finding “hope” in “Jesus Christ.”

The first speaker talked about his addiction to pornography and how he used to find hope in "cars and clothes".

The second talked about issues with his father. He “used to find hope in people” and in “other guys.” He looked to these people for “brotherly love” and “fatherly love.” He said he then struggled with suicidal thoughts, and resorted to “cutting himself.”

The third also talked about problems with his family, as well as promiscuity and suicide. He had previously turned to his grandfather for hope until his grandfather's suicide. He also found his hope in “women and girls” and would see how many of them he “could get.” He said he was setting himself up for failure.

The fourth said he had a great family that introduced him to the church. He said at first he did not think he could measure up to Jesus Christ so he sought hope in “other things.” He said he used to find “hope in relationships with other people” and “in himself” and in his “materialistic living.”

But now all four claim they found hope in "Jesus".

The suit claims the following:

"Indeed, the presentation was mandatory and faculty and parents stood near the exit door, preventing students from leaving."

"A senior friend of M.B. indicated that there were about 20 to 30 staff and about 5 to 10 parents present."

"The School’s truancy officer, Jeff White (“Officer White”), harassed several students who attempted to leave and told them to sit back down."

M.B., a plaintiff, said she was told by previous attendees what the presentation was about and decided she did not want to attend. Before the presentation started, M.B. and a few of her friends attempted to go to the library or another classroom instead but they were prevented from doing so by Officer White. Officer White redirected the students to the PAB, and refused to allow them to spend time in a monitored library where they could have studied during the presentation.

They were warned to stop!

On April 11, 2013, the American Humanist Association sent a letter to Principal Frazier. The AHA Letter informed the principal that the Christian Assemblies were unconstitutional and asked that they be stopped immediately.

They postponed two for a short time, but blew off the AHA's warning letter. The school and church didn't care they were breaking not just the law, but the very First Amendment to the US Constitution.

This insanity must end!

I understand the "great commission". I understand that Christians think they are going a great and wonderful thing by sharing their faith. The problem is they don't have the right to reject the Constitution and Supreme Court decisions that they do not agree with. But that doesn't seem to stop them.

We need to put a mechanism into place that stops these events when they happen. The Secular Student Alliance is the perfect group for this too. They need to get a hotline into place that a victim student can use that will notify the SSA who can then alert local atheist groups who can intervene legally and protect student's rights because those who are charged with doing that while at school are the ones violating those rights.

Tony Miano is a hate filled divisive bigot

Tony Miano offered this response to announcements of "interfaith" prayer services in regard to the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings.

First Tony is clear that his fucked up god is responsible for the attack:

"Why did the bombing at the Boston Marathon happen? Because Almighty Sovereign God allowed it to happen"

But then he changes his mind:

"Did something bad happen to good people? No. Something bad happened to inherently sinful people, at the hands of inherently sinful people"

"Were innocent people injured and killed as a result of the bombing? Innocent before God? No."

Martin Richard was a bright, sunny 8-year-old who loved to ride his bike and scored the winning goal for his soccer team in a championship game last year. Martin was also killed in the Boston attack. Tony thinks that Martin is not a "good person". An 8 year old is guilty in the eyes of Tony Miano.

"The reality is that God allowed the events of April 15 to take place in Boston, for reasons known only to Him, with the perfect intent of bringing Himself glory in the event itself or in the aftermath.

And no human being has the right or authority to question God about it, as a prosecuting attorney would cross examine a suspected criminal"

So, Tony thinks that this attack was allowed by his god to make his god look good in the eyes of someone. Not just that but we have no right to question his god's intentions?? Fuck that. We absolutely do have that right. Not just the right, but the duty to do exactly that! If we as human beings are not able to make correct moral judgements, then we can't say that anything is moral or immoral and that applies to his fucked up concept of a god too!

"I do not wish his wrath to be poured out on anyone (whether directly or indirectly)--certainly not the men, women, and children injured, maimed, and killed during the Boston Marathon."

Yes you do Tony! You said you want your god to be glorified and as you claim this act was allowed by your god to do exactly that, then you do want these people to be fucked up by the attack! And that makes you a sick son of a bitch that you think that.

Miano then goes on to personally attack several of the religious leaders at the service because they do not hold the same religious views as him. I am surprised he didn't attack the city for allowing female pastors to pray at the service.

Tony then goes on to attack Boston itself.

"Boston is in a state that has legalized and celebrates marriages that God does not recognize--marriages between people of the same sex"

Tony claims that this statement by Obama is "an utter blasphemous offering to [g]od".

"Faith in each other, faith in our country, and love for each other is our power."

Then Tony reveals his true intentions; to stand on the bodies of the dead and wounded to make you fear and turn to his fucked up god that allowed this attack:

"The correct response for America to make, the right response for every American to make in times of national tragedy is to repent of individual and corporate sin and turn to Christ."

Then offers this gem of a contradiction:

"The only right response is to seek the mercy of the one, true triune God (within the one Being that is God, there exists eternally three co-equal and co-eternal Persons--namely the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit)."

Tony can't see that he is a polytheist pretending to be a monotheist. He can't see the logical problems with his 3 gods = 1 god claims. He doesn't see how this violates the law of identity, the law of non-contradiction, and law of excluded middle.

You really have to feel sorry for these poor kids. Their education is being sabotaged by their own father! It's really sad that he thinks an ancient book is more reliable than the whole of the science community. Sadly if his kids want to enter the science community they will need years of remedial education to undo the damage done by their own father.

He actually wants them to think they should be proud of being stupid. And people wonder why atheists say that teaching creationism to children is tantamount to child abuse.

To Steve's daughters: If you really want to not be "stupid" then please find a university professor in the UC or Cal State system to talk to you and explain why your father is an idiot and while his intentions may be misguided, you will pay the price for his stupidity later on in life. Without Genesis . . . Our Children Learn the Bible Cannot Be Trusted

When our church leaders teach believers, especially youth, that Genesis 1–11 is untrustworthy, they are teaching (unwittingly or not) that the Word of God is not authoritative. While it may seem hard to believe that the denial of 11 chapters from just one of the 66 books of Scripture could have such a negative impact on people, it has been confirmed by the research presented in Ken’s book, Already Gone. Two-thirds of our children are leaving the church by the time they reach college age. And the majority of them do not believe that Genesis 1–11 is accurate or reliable. Church leaders’ compromise on Genesis, including their incorporation of evolution and millions of years, is teaching our children that the Word of God lacks authority—and our children suffer the most from the results of such thinking.

All available evidence tells us that all of Genesis, Exodus, etc is untrustworthy as it doesn't fit any of the available facts. The lack of collaborating evidence is astounding! Normally absence of evidence is not evidence of absence, but in this case, the astonishing lack of evidence is not just evidence of absence, but conclusive!

We can conclude that the if the god of the Christian bible is as he is described in the bible, then he doesn't exist!

It is unknown why Noah would have taken it on the ark or if this is the only puppet species he took on board with his family. Did he also bring marionettes and sock puppets as well? This is his latest spew on evolution and attacking Bill Nye, a man that has done more to add to our collective knowledge and improve our society than Comfort could do in 1,000,000 lifetimes.

Evolution is unobservable. It’s based on blind faith in a few dry bones, and on unreliable dating systems in which the gullible trust. Kids should be allowed to make up their own minds about this issue, and not be censored to “one side is all we will let you hear.”

Ray is just another poor idiot leading the war on expertise. Any expert that says something that Ray doesn't agree with is automatically wrong. He is entitled to his opinion, but his opinion isn't valid nor useful. In fact it's harmful to society. Dr. Andrew Snelling from Answers in Genesis... Fraud?

Dr. Andrew Snelling from Answers in Genesis wrote today trying to answer the common rejection of his vacuous young earth - anti-evoltion claim "How could most scientists be wrong?"

"When it comes to explaining how the rocks and fossils formed, however, those are events that occurred in the past. They can’t be repeated and observed. Thus, explanations about how rocks and fossils formed in the past are interpretations, not facts."

This is an absurd objection but it opens an interesting door. His assumptions can be tested if they only took a year! So I challenge him to reproduce rock in less than a year using sediment.

"Sure, we can observe and study today how sediments are deposited in layers. But to say that sediments have always accumulated in the past at the rates we observe today is an assumption."

And his claims are also an assumption. But there is no reason for real geologists to assume that the rates of formation changed at all!

Ya, know what? Fuck it. His claims just are not worth responding to. They are vapid nonsense and I have wasted too many electrons on them already.
