Since 2007 the Deutsche Telekom supports national and international musicians with their own concert series called Telekom Street Gigs. Under the motto “life is for sharing” they therefor try to bring famous musicians and the audience together at extraordinary places like cart tracks, parking decks or ships. As if that were not enough, they also only draw the tickets. Through this Deutsche Telekom tries to give everyone the chance to attend outstanding concerts of artists like Billy Talent, Fettes Brot, Clueso, Milow or Mandio Diao. Beside the possibility to listen to awesome artists, the potential winner also receives a second ticket true to the claim “ife is for sharing”.

On 5th of June Telekom Street Gigs will take place in Berlin Admiralspalast accompanied by an awesome band again. Under the claim “burn it down” Rob Bourdon, Phoenix Farrell, Mike Shinoda, Joe Hahn, Brad Delson and Chester Bennington aka Linkin Park will try to make a second Deeper Underground out of the Admiralspalast. So grab your luck by the scruff of its neck and enter the contest.

Within the last weeks I overhauled my beloved fixedgear. Beside some new brake pads and some penetrating oil I inter alia assembled double toe clips combined with white leather straps. Last week I finally decided to exchange my old track bar with a straight flat-bar. I bought it at my favorite bike store for which reason I was able to get it a bit shortened. Because I used a track bar before I also had to bandy the brake handles. Although I like clean rides I decided against a naked bar wherefore I had to buy new bar ends too. All in all I think my shopping trip took more time than the whole modification.

In 2011 ten talented artists from Austria and Germany had the idea to tighten their friendship wherefore they summarily created and art crew. At Stroke Munich CONE, DXTR, FRAU ISA, HERR VON BIAS, the two brothers NERD & QBRK (LOW BROS), NYCHOS, LOOK & VIDAM (PEACHBEACH) and last but not least ROOKIE or to put it simply THE WEIRD came together popped the bottles and were hot like a bird spider.

 
Beside their breathtaking illustration of the battle of the last beer they also created a piggishness which the audience liked very much. Special for THE WEIRD isn’t only the fact that they are able to create well worth seeing art or that they are a crew with so many members rather it is the high level of quality they are able to bring to light. It’s not overstating the case to say that THE WEIRD will come as a real bombshell in the near future.

From May 3rd to May 6th the sixth Stroke Urban Art Fair took place in Munich. It was a wonderful exhibition accompanied by great events like live painting sessions and three parties.

When Marco and his brother Raiko Schwalbe in 2009 had the idea to give urban art and street art a platform, they knew, that they had to bear the brunt. Nevertheless Marco who had been working as a gallery owner for more than five years wanted to found an art fair for artists who weren’t able to pay high attendance fees. Now six art fairs later they can count on nearly 60.000 thousand visitors attending their personalized idea called Stroke Urban Art Fair.

In contrast to the Berlin Postbahnhof and the Berlin visitors Munich had again to deal with a totally different audience. Comparing the old Künstlerhaus to the fragile veneer of Postbahnhof the Zollgewölbe, the Füllhalle and the Wurzelkeller recalled elements of the the well-known white cube. Also the audience at the vernissage was rather the audience you would for example expect at Art Cologne than an exhibition for urban art. Though these impressions aren’t meant to be criticism. Because of the passion and hard work by a few people like the Schwalbe brothers Urban Art doesn’t only stand for back yard smearings these days. Graffiti, street art or urban art consist of skills, fantasy and in some ways the political attitude of all kinds of artists like designers, illustrators, painters and many more. The upcoming trend that big brands like Converse or Nike work together with these artists for advertising campaigns mirrors that well. Or in other words urban art became socially acceptable.

Beside the fact that the Schwalbe’s are looking forward to host an exhibition without having artists to pay attendance fees they also try to support following generations of artists for example by working together with Young Munich Creatives on one side and to display the work of foreign artists like KNZ Clan as well.

 
Another good example for the innovative and creative character of Stroke were for sure the live painting sessions and the animax exhibition room in Künstlerhaus. Polish artist Robert Poch who designed an entire room with figures inspired by Japanese anime had been accompanied during his work by an animax film team who displayed the resultant video whilst the whole exhibition. Thereby the audience was able to have a look at the creative process a fact that you aren’t inured by a lot art movements. Also the live painting sessions which definitely were the highlight of the art fair followed that accretion. Over the whole period people swarmed inside the yard to have a look at artists like the weird or Erase and Arsek from fourplus. Because of the fact that Molotow™ supported the exhibition with products of their URBAN FINE-ART™ SOLUTIONS range the artists where able to give their creativity full scope.

 
To sum up, Stroke Urban Art Fair Munich has been a real good example how art markets, artists and the audience can get together. Regardless whether during an exhibition, whilst the creative process or at least at a party the exhibition displayed that the attitude regarding to art is more important than the condition of the particular person.

After already more than one thousand people took the opportunity to have a look at the exhibition on thursday, the Stroke Urban Art Fair opened its doors on ‘studentfriday’ with visitors’ queues again.

Like the vernissage ended on thursday studentfriday also began with good-tempered people of all generations. All over the exhibition area the people had a look at the graffiti in the Künstlerhaus and the artist booths in Zollgewölbe and Füllhalle. While Via Grafik was still painting inside Künstlerhaus I asked them what they think about their tools. In reply to my question they answered, that they like Molotow™ very much and that they know, what their products offer them. Additional they said, that Molotow™ is for their way of graffiti always has been a good choice.

Beside the well-attended guided tours for children and deaf people the highlight for all visitors for sure was the live painting session which started on friday and will end on saturday. Therefore a lot of canvasses had been positioned inside the yard.

Although the Stroke ends on sunday the accompanying party set ends today with the so called ‘Bloggers Delight’ party which will take place in the space of the exhibition. For now I can say, that after more than 18.000 people had visited the Stroke Urban Art Fair in Berlin last year, it might be very possible to obtain valuable results in Munich too.

Yesterday evening at 9pm the Stroke Urban Art Fair Munich opened its doors at Praterinsel. It was a wonderful vernissage which smoothed the way for the forthcoming three exhibition days.

Fortunately Molotow™ supports the exhibition and the artists with products of their URBAN FINE-ART™ SOLUTIONS range, so that beside the composition of their boothes the artists had the opportunity to paint some walls at the Künstlerhaus before the opening on thursday. On two floors inter alia Monsta, KNZ Clan, Via Grafik and the Weird created awesome graffiti and illustrations. Some of them had been finished only a few minutes before the vernissage so that the nice smell of paint was still in the air.

Beside the graffiti at the Künstlerhaus more than 45 national and international galleries, art collectives and projects like 110 Ugly Beasts, Square 23, NeoVandalism or Super2000 exhibit their work on the 3.500 m² large area divided into the Künstlerhaus, the Zollgewölbe, the Füllhalle, the Wurzelkeller, the Isarhof and the inner yard.

Another nice special along with the recently designed walls was the live painting session by Sonke Wia at the inner yard. The greek artist captured the visitors’ mind with his talent and did a wonderful nice illustration by using Molotow™ markers.

So far I’m able to say that the Stroke again offers an unconditional and very good insight to the urban street art scene and supports this art movement very well. From today on until sunday you can have a look at the Stroke Urban Art Fair at Praterinsel from 1pm up to 11:30pm on friday and saturday and up to 6pm on sunday. Completed is the Stroke by guided tours for deaf people and a party on friday and saturday.

Since three weeks I‘m testing the LG DM2350D monitor. Beside the fact that it is a 23inch monitor it is the first 3D combination of a monitor and a television by LG. The monitor itself is well designed. The power, volume, program and menu buttons at the frontside are touch buttons and fit very well to the clean design. At the backside two HDMI/DVI inputs, a Scart, PC D-sub with minijack audio, USB and component AV are mounted. There’s also a RS232 control port, an optical digital audio output and last but not least a headphone jack.

Unfortunately I have not used the DM2350D as a television so far but I‘ll do so within the next three weeks. What I can tell you until now, is that the monitor as a computer monitor and also its 3D function worked so far very well. The monitors resolution is FullHD by 1920 x 1080 pixels. In addition to its response time rated at 5ms and its brightness of 250cd/m2 the monitor is fine for gamers, or people like me who, beside photo edditing and visual work, are interested in watching movies.

I liked the image quality from the first moment on. The 2D view is very clean and the monitor handles also high contrasts like e.g. bright red or yellow colours of some graffiti pictures I took. Like I mentioned before the DM2350D is also able to convert any 2D source into 3D. Therefor you only have to use one of the included pair of passive 3D spectacles which you perhaps know from the cinema.

Up to now I can totally recommend the monitor and I think that the television test will also work well.

After the Stroke took place in Berlin in October 2011 the Artfair will open its doors from May 3rd until May 6th in Munich.
About thirty participants from Germany, Italy, Austria and Switzerland, inter alia the weird and KNZ Clan, will exhibit their best graffiti, photographies, illustrations, drawings and many more.

Beside that also the Young Munich Creatives and ANIMAX, a Sony Pictures Entertainment TV channel, will be at Stroke. In addition to the Vernissage and the opening party on thursday the Art Fair also offers guided tours for deaf people. If you’re in munich I recommend you to have a look at the art fair at Praterinsel.
