Sisters are lucky to have each other. These sweet sisters certainly are. Both very smart, sweet and with great personalities, they were a joy to meet and photograph.

Litte Azundo and Nina are 2 very fun, spunky kids I got to photograph again. I say again because I had the pleasure of photographing their family shortly after Azundo was born. It’s always heart-warming and awe-inspiring to see little babies grow to these big kids full of personalities and energy. Oh boy, can you say energy! Azundo only knows one speed and it’s FAST! He chased and threw the ball for almost the entire time and his time sitting down was brief. Still, he was always having fun, just look at his face. And his big sister Nina was a hoot too. I especially like the image of the sweet moment when the little brother plants a kiss on sister’s cheek.

Big news

I have some great personal news to share with you all. I’m so excited to finally make the big announcement: we’re expecting another baby mid-summer! As you may already know, we have a 6-year-old girl named Kyla and now she’s going to be a big sister! Growing up as the only child, I always longed for a sibling especially a sister, someone to play with and share my childhood with. Yet another reason I’m so glad we’ll be giving our daughter the opportunity to grow up with a…. sister! That’s right, we already found out it’s another girl and we couldn’t be any happier. Sisters rock!

Kyla is very excited too, she’s been telling everyone about the new baby coming and announcing it with such pride it makes my heart swell up with joy. She already offered to help with “everything but dirty diapers,” ha! I’m sure she will be a great helper, she’s always shown great care and interest in babies. Of course I expect some adjustments and changes will need to be made, going from the only child to a big sister is an important responsibility after all. We’ll adjust together going from a family of 3 to a family of 4!

Since Kyla is such a big girl already and holds so much anticipation for the baby, we wanted to make her a part of the process and took her with us for the gender reveal ultrasound. Soon after, we celebrated by letting her pick out a special gift for her little sister in the hospital gift shop (see attached iPhone photo), visiting the near-by zoo and finishing the celebrations with a visit to our favorite local ice cream shop. It was a fun day I hope she’ll remember forever.

Due to the impending changes, I will be taking the months of July and August off work, expecting to return in September. During my maternity leave, I will have an assistant answering emails and calls and scheduling any future appointments, so don’t be afraid to check in and schedule your fall family photo session.

New baby

Just barely a week old, this little baby brother was just an angel – slept through the entire session and didn’t fuss at all. His first portrait session took place in his home and his mom loved all the baskets and hats I brought with. I enjoyed meeting not only him but his entire family!

Children models needed for our workshops

We are looking for children who would like to model during our photography workshops on specific dates March – June.

We are looking for children who meet the following criteria:
1. Age between 6 and 14 years of age.
2. Must be comfortable in front of the camera – if your child acts shy, we may not be able to photograph them.
3. Must have adequate transportation and availability to attend one of the workshop at our studio (in Madison, WI) on one of the dates and times listed.

Dates currently available:

Wednesday, April 25th at 6:30pm
Thursday, May 10th at 6:30pm
Saturday, May 26th at 4pm
Saturday, June 9th at 4pm
Thursday, June 14th at 4pm

Parents must agree to sign the model release for the child. In return, the parent will receive a link to an online gallery with their children’s images within approx. 2 weeks, and the opportunity to download up to 3 Digital Images for printing and personal use purposes.

A home visit for a special baby

All babies are special. All newborns are little miracles. But this girl is one very special miracle and very cherished by her parents. I was glad to travel to their home to photograph her in her environment – from a woodsy nursery to hanging out in their family’s living room. She was happy to oblige too. What a content, happy baby! She gave me plenty of soulful looks but also lots of smiles! She even napped for about 5 minutes to rest in between the scenes, right in the arms of her grandmother. I was mesmerized by her gorgeous blue eyes, charming smile and her happy demeanor.

Watching him change and grow from an itty bitty infant to this big 1 year-old boy has been lots of fun! He’s a Baby Plan graduate and he visited our studio in February to celebrate his first birthday with an awesome cake! He definitely got into smashing it which is fun to photograph. He dug, he poked, he smeared, he got frosting everywhere! Oh what a joy it was to watch him. Celebrating first birthday is the best!

We’re back after a nice family vacation in the sunshine state! I’m still catching up with emails, calls and session highlights. Many session highlights will be posted soon! Thank you for your patience.

We don’t take family vacations very often or for that long so this was extra special to us. We had a great time getting away from the cold weather and every day routines. Best part – our 6 year-old daughter saw the Disney World for the first time and we got to see it through her eyes. She also saw the ocean for the first time. Her favorite beach memories were making sand castles and creatures and collecting clam shells.
