The Astonishing Tribe recently explored the future of captive touch screen technology following a 2 week invite for an initiative they called openinnovation. Undoubtedly we’ve had the landscape for screen technology change drastically over the last few years. The above video is a prediction for 2014 as it combines stretchable screens, transparent screens and other sharing interfaces integrated into our daily life.

Just a quick heads-up: cdevwill, who you probably know because of the PDF Loading Warner patch, just announced that he made a tweak that will bring HDR photos to iPhone 3G and 3Gs running iOS 4.1. People have a hard time figuring out HDR photos on the iPhone 4, so I wonder how will previous gen iPhone users will handle this tweak.

At the moment, we don’t have any addition info on the tweak, but we will keep you update. Stay tuned…

iPhone 4 is a little bit different when it comes to baseband upgrades. If you update to a new iOS release, that will upgrade the baseband, you will be able to restore to a previous iOS and downgrade the baseband IF Apple is still signing that iOS. For example, if you update to iOS 4.1, your baseband will be upgraded to 2.10.4. BUT as long as Apple still signs iOS 4.0.2 you can downgrade to it, and the baseband will be downgraded as well to 1.59.00.

Because of that, notcom updated TinyUmbrella which comes with the following changelog:

• Baseband Protection – Updating to 4.1 using TinyUmbrella will protect your baseband from update. THIS ONLY APPLIES TO IPHONE 4!!!!! If you have a 3G or 3GS and you update to 4.1 your baseband will likely be updated.
• SHSH Retrieval from Cydia – If you don’t have your SHSH locally, TinyUmbrella will request them from Cydia on-demand; allowing the restore to continue
• Automatically point hosts to Cydia – Once you close TinyUmbrella, it points your hosts file to Cydia (for further baseband protection and update/restores without TinyUmbrella)

New day, new update in Cydia: MewSeek. MewSeek is an application for live streaming and fast music downloading on iOS devices. It lets tou search and download music at an amazing speed, using either your 3G or WiFi connection ( EDGE also supported ). New day, new toggle in Cydia Store: Lockdown ( Pro ) SBSettings toggle. This toggle is for Lockdown or Lockdown Pro, and will allow you to quickly enable or disable the tweak right from SBSettings.

New day, new tweak in Cydia Store: MultiMusicInfo. MultiMusicInfo is the first tweak to show you all of the info of the song that’s currently playing in your music player app in the task switching bar. Info includes the artist name, album’s name, and it even replaces the iPod icon with the album cover. Of course it will also show the song’s name which is included by default by Apple.

Tapping the album cover, the tweak will still behave like the iPod icon and take you to the iPod app. If there is no album cover, it will display the standard iPod icon.

New day, new app in Cydia Store: Gridlock. We told you about this tweak a couple of days ago, and today it is finally available in Cydia. Gridlock is a powerful tweak that allows you to arrange your icons however you would like, with drag and drop simplicity.

You will no longer need blank icons, which have ugly shadows or you have to remember not to tap. Gridlock is fully compatible with other icon tweaks: Iconoclasm and FiveIRows ( in addition to many more ) .

NOTE: not currently compatible with Infiniboard or iTunes icon arrangement.

With iOS 4.1 being released next week, many of you are wondering if a new jailbreak will be released. MuscleNerd, says that comex will try to pull a trifecta by releasing a userland jailbreak. If it fails though, chances are an iBoot or bootrom exploit will be released. That’s all for now, but we will keep you updated. Stay tuned…

Everybody says that the new iPod Touch is an iPhone 4 except you can’t make/receive calls and you can’t get data over 3G. Well not exactly… the difference between the two is like $250, but it is amazing that Apple managed to squeeze all this technology in the new device. New day, two new updates in Cydia: YourTube. I say two new updates, because one is for the iPhone ( YourTube ) and the other is for the iPad ( YourTube HD ). In case you didn’t know, YourTube, adds a fully integrated downloader so you can keep those videos you love to watch and show your friends.

YourTube 2.0 adds iOS 4 compatibility and now, both YourTube HD 1.2 and YourTube 2 can import downloaded YouTube videos to the iPod library which is made possible by the Gremlin framework. Gremlin, not content to be left alone with YouTube videos, will also take on a starring role in other Cocoanuts software such as Safari Download Manager and AttachmentSaver!
