My dad loves to rescue farm animals. Our first one was Miss Dixie! She wasn't really a rescue. I showed her for FFA and Rodeos! We just didn't have the heart to sell her so we just kept her. Then my dad bought a heifer from the Hempstead FFA Show because the boy who showed her no longer wanted her and my dad just fell in love with her unique spots and just had to have her.The other two, Duke and Whitney, are their babies and well take a guess... we're keeping them too!

Adopting from shelters

Most of my pets (dogs and cat) were either adopted from shelters or my family and I rescued them from the streets. Today, hundreds and hundreds of dogs and cats are picked up from the streets and taken to a shelter and are given a certain amount of hours to be adopted. If they are not adopted by the end of their time limit, things don't end pretty... I always encourage soon to be new pet owners to look around in shelters before making any final decisions. You never know, you just might run into your furry friend, your best friend. You'd be surprised what huge impact these dogs will do for you in the long run. They are already grateful that you adopted them and brought them into your family.

Hi everyone! My name is Krista Rodriguez. I am a LSC college student. lonestar I will be transferring over to Sam Houston State! I am majoring in Interdisciplinary Agriculture. Animals have always been a huge part of my life therefore, I chose to talk about my pets for my first blog because they are my pride and joy and I love them dearly! My pets are basically part of my family. They bring so much joy in the house. They're loving, funny, and smart. I have three dogs, 1 old cranky/sweet cat, 3 cows and a bull. I also chose to talk about my pets because most people buy their pets and as I always say, there is nothing wrong with that but if you were to visit any animal shelter websites, you will see hundreds and hundreds of loving pets, mostly mutts which I say are way better that need homes (at a much cheaper price). All my dogs and cat are mutts from shelters or the streets.
