Google Classroom, part of Google Apps for Education, will be available the week of August 11th for all teachers and students. Have you requested an invite?

Classroom is designed to help teachers create and collect assignments paperlessly, including time-saving features like the ability to automatically make a copy of a Google Document for each student. It also creates Drive folders for each assignment and for each student to help keep everyone organized.

Students can keep track of what’s due on the Assignments page and begin working with just a click. Teachers can quickly see who has or hasn’t completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback and grades right in Classroom.

The Google Classroom – Teacher and Student View video from Roger Nixon demonstrates well the teacher’s and students’ viewpoints.

Jonathan Wylie has published a step-by-step guide to setting up and customizing a classroom, adding students, creating, grading and returning assignments, and more.

Google Classroom looks easy to use and I’m wondering if it will replace GClassFolder/Doctopus which our teachers enjoyed using last year.
